Response :  Come, Lord, and save us.

It is the Lord who preserves fidelity forever, who does justice to those who are oppressed. It is he who gives bread to the hungry, the Lord who sets prisoners free.

Response :  Come, Lord, and save us.

It is the Lord who opens the eyes of the blind, the Lord who raises up those who are bowed down. It is the Lord who loves the just, the Lord who protects the stranger.

Response :  Come, Lord, and save us.

The Lord upholds the orphan and the widow, but thwarts the path of the wicked. The Lord will reign forever, the God of Sion from age to age.

A Reading from the Book of Amos 6: 1,4-7 

Thus says the Lord almighty;

“Woe to those who are at ease in Zion, and to those who feel secure on the mountain of Samaria. Woe to those who lie on beds of ivory and stretch themselves out on their couches, and eat lambs from the flock and calves from the midst of the stall, who sing idle songs to the sound of the harp and like David invent for themselves instruments of music, who drink wine in bowls and anoint themselves with the finest oils, but are not grieved over the ruin of Joseph! Therefore they shall now be the first of those who go into exile, and the revelry of those who stretch themselves out shall pass away.”

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு செய்த யாவற்றையும் பார்த்து அனைவரும் வியப்படைந்தனர். அவர் தம் சீடர்களிடம், “நான் சொல்வதைக் கேட்டு மனத்தில் வைத்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள். மானிட மகன் மக்களின் கையில் ஒப்புவிக்கப்பட இருக்கிறார்” என்றார்.

அவர்கள் அவர் சொன்னதைப் புரிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை. அவர்கள் அதை உணர்ந்துகொள்ளாதவாறு அது அவர்களுக்கு மறைவாயிருந்தது. ஆயினும் அவர் சொன்னதுபற்றி அவரிடம் விளக்கம் கேட்க அஞ்சினார்கள்.

 நம் மீட்பராகிய கிறிஸ்து இயேசு சாவை அழித்து, அழியா வாழ்வை நற்செய்தியின் வழியாக ஒளிரச் செய்தார். அல்லேலூயா.

நான் என் கண்களை உயர்த்திப் பார்த்தபோது, இதோ, அளவு நூலைக் கையில் பிடித்திருந்த ஒருவரைக் கண்டேன். ‘எங்கே போகிறீர்?’ என்று நான் அவரை வினவினேன். அதற்கு அவர், ‘எருசலேமை அளந்து, அதன் அகலமும் நீளமும் எவ்வளவு என்பதைக் காணப்போகிறேன்’ என்றார்.

என்னோடு பேசிக்கொண்டிருந்த தூதர் திரும்பிச் செல்கையில் மற்றொரு தூதர் அவருக்கு எதிரே வந்தார். வந்தவர் முன்னவரிடம் இவ்வாறு சொன்னார்: ஓடிச் சென்று அந்த இளைஞனிடம் நீ சொல்ல வேண்டியது: ‘எருசலேமில் எண்ணிறந்த மனிதர்களும் திரளான கால்நடைகளும் இருப்பதால் அந்நகரம் மதில் இல்லாத ஊர்களைப் போல் இருக்கும்! ஏனெனில் அதைச் சுற்றிலும் நானே நெருப்புச் சுவராய் அமைவேன்; அதனுள் உறையும் மாட்சியாய் விளங்குவேன்', என்கிறார் ஆண்டவர்.

‘மகளே, சீயோன்! அகமகிழ்ந்து ஆர்ப்பரி; இதோ நான் வருகிறேன்; வந்து உன் நடுவில் குடிகொள்வேன்’ என்கிறார் ஆண்டவர். அந்நாளில், வேற்றினத்தார் பலர் ஆண்டவரிடம் வந்து சேர்வார்கள்; அவர்கள் அவருடைய மக்களாய் இருப்பார்கள். அவர் உன் நடுவில் தங்கியிருப்பார்.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Luke 9 : 43b-45 

At that time: While they were all marvelling at everything Jesus was doing, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let these words sink into your ears: The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men.” But they did not understand this saying, and it was concealed from them, so that they might not perceive it. And they were afraid to ask him about this saying.
