God did not spare his own Son

A reading from the letter of St.Paul to the Romans 8: 31-39

Brethren: If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died— more than that, who was raised— who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

இறையாட்சியின்போது கிழக்கிலும் மேற்கிலும் வடக்கிலும் தெற்கிலுமிருந்து மக்கள் வந்து பந்தியில் அமர்வார்கள்.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு நகர்கள், ஊர்கள் தோறும் கற்பித்துக்கொண்டே எருசலேம் நோக்கிப் பயணம் செய்தார்.

அப்பொழுது ஒருவர் அவரிடம், “ஆண்டவரே, மீட்புப் பெறுவோர் சிலர் மட்டும்தானா?” என்று கேட்டார். அதற்கு அவர் அவர்களிடம் கூறியது: “இடுக்கமான வாயில் வழியாக நுழைய வருந்தி முயலுங்கள். ஏனெனில் பலர் உள்ளே செல்ல முயன்றும் இயலாமற்போகும்.

‘வீட்டு உரிமையாளரே, எழுந்து கதவைத் திறந்துவிடும்’ என்று கேட்பீர்கள். அவரோ, ‘நீங்கள் எங்கிருந்து வந்தவர்கள் என எனக்குத் தெரியாது’ எனப் பதில் கூறுவார்.

அப்பொழுது நீங்கள், ‘நாங்கள் உம்மோடு உணவு உண்டோம், குடித்தோம். நீர் எங்கள் வீதிகளில் கற்பித்தீரே’ என்று சொல்வீர்கள். ஆனாலும் அவர், ‘நீங்கள் எவ்விடத்தாரோ எனக்குத் தெரியாது. தீங்கு செய்வோரே, அனைவரும் என்னை விட்டு அகன்று போங்கள்’ என உங்களிடம் சொல்வார்.

ஆபிரகாமும் ஈசாக்கும் யாக்கோபும் இறைவாக்கினர் யாவரும் இறையாட்சிக்கு உட்பட்டிருப்பதையும் நீங்கள் புறம்பே தள்ளப்பட்டிருப்பதையும் பார்க்கும்போது அழுது அங்கலாய்ப்பீர்கள். இறையாட்சியின்போது கிழக்கிலும் மேற்கிலும் வடக்கிலும் தெற்கிலும் இருந்து மக்கள் வந்து பந்தியில் அமர்வார்கள். ஆம், கடைசியானோர் முதன்மையாவர்; முதன்மையானோர் கடைசியாவர்.”

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

தூய ஆவியார் நமது வலுவற்ற நிலையில் நமக்குத் துணைநிற்கிறார்; ஏனெனில், எதற்காக, எப்படி நாம் இறைவனிடம் வேண்டுவது என்று நமக்குத் தெரியாது; தூய ஆவியார் தாமே சொல் வடிவம் பெற முடியாத நம்முடைய பெருமூச்சுகளின் வாயிலாய் நமக்காகப் பரிந்துபேசுகிறார். உள்ளங்களைத் துருவி ஆயும் கடவுள் தூய ஆவியாரின் மனநிலையை அறிவார். தூய ஆவியாரும் கடவுளுக்கு உகந்த முறையில் இறைமக்களுக்காகப் பரிந்துபேசுகிறார்.

மேலும், கடவுளிடம் அன்புகூர்பவர்களோடு, அதாவது அவரது திட்டத்திற்கேற்ப அழைக்கப்பட்டவர்களோடு, அவர்கள் நன்மைக்காகவே ஆவியார் அனைத்திலும் ஒத்துழைக்கிறார் என்பது நமக்குத் தெரியும்.

தம்மால் முன்பே தேர்ந்துகொள்ளப்பட்டவர்கள் தம் மகனின் சாயலுக்கேற்றவாறு இருக்கவேண்டும் எனக் கடவுள் முன்குறித்து வைத்தார்; அச்சகோதரர் சகோதரிகள் பலருள் தம் மகன் தலைப்பேறானவராய் இருக்கவேண்டும் என்றே இப்படிச் செய்தார். தாம் முன் குறித்து வைத்தோரை அவர் அழைத்திருக்கிறார்; தாம் அழைத்தோரைத் தமக்கு ஏற்புடையோராக்கி இருக்கிறார்; தமக்கு ஏற்புடையோரானோரைத் தம் மாட்சியில் பங்கு பெறச் செய்தார்.

At that time: Jesus went on his way through towns and villages, teaching and journeying towards Jerusalem. And someone said to him, “Lord, will those who are saved be few?” And he said to them, “Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. When once the master of the house has risen and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, open to us.’ Then he will answer you, ‘I do not know where you come from.’ Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’ But he will say, ‘I tell you, I do not know where you come from. Depart from me, all you workers of evil!’ In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God but you yourselves cast out. And people will come from east and west, and from north and south, and recline at table in the kingdom of God. And behold, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last.”

A Reading from the Letter of St.Paul to the Romans 8: 26-30 .

Brethren: The Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.
