God never takes back his gifts

A reading from the letter of St.Paul to the Romans 11: 29-36 

Brethren: The gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. For just as you were at one time disobedient to God but now have received mercy because of their disobedience, so they too have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may now receive mercy. For God has consigned all to disobedience, that he may have mercy on all. Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counsellor?” “Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?” For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory for ever. Amen.

தந்தை என்னிடம் ஒப்படைக்கும் அனைவரும் வந்து சேருவர். என்னிடம் வருபவரை நான் புறம்பே தள்ளிவிடமாட்டேன்; ஏனெனில் என் சொந்த விருப்பத்தை நிறைவேற்ற அல்ல, என்னை அனுப்பியவரின் விருப்பத்தை நிறைவேற்றவே நான் விண்ணகத்திலிருந்து இறங்கி வந்தேன். "அவர் என்னிடம் ஒப்படைக்கும் எவரையும் நான் அழிய விடாமல் இறுதி நாளில் அனைவரையும் உயிர்த்தெழச் செய்ய வேண்டும். இதுவே என்னை அனுப்பியவரின் திருவுளம். மகனைக் கண்டு அவரிடம் நம்பிக்கை கொள்ளும் அனைவரும் நிலைவாழ்வு பெற வேண்டும் என்பதே என் தந்தையின் திருவுளம். நானும் இறுதி நாளில் அவர்களை உயிர்த்தெழச் செய்வேன்" என்று கூறினார்

அந்த எதிர்நோக்கு ஒருபோதும் ஏமாற்றம் தராது: எனெனில் நாம் பெற்றுள்ள தூய ஆவியின் வழியாய்க் கடவுளின் அன்பு நம் உள்ளங்களில் பொழியப்பட்டுள்ளது. நாம் இறைப்பற்று இன்றி வலுவற்று இருந்தபோதே, குறித்தகாலம் வந்ததும் கிறிஸ்து நமக்காகத் தம் உயிரைக் கொடுத்தார்.

நேர்மையாளருக்காக ஒருவர் தம் உயிரைக் கொடுத்தலே அரிது. ஒருவேளை நல்லவர் ஒருவருக்காக யாரேனும் தம் உயிரைக் கொடுக்கத் துணியலாம்.

ஆனால், நாம் பாவிகளாய் இருந்தபோதே கிறிஸ்து நமக்காகத் தம் உயிரைக் கொடுத்தார். இவ்வாறு கடவுள் நம்மீது கொண்டுள்ள தம் அன்பை எடுத்துக் காட்டியுள்ளார். ஆகையால் இப்போது நாம் கிறிஸ்துவின் இரத்தத்தினால் கடவுளுக்கு ஏற்புடையவர்களாகி, அவர் வழியாய் தண்டனையிலிருந்து தப்பி மீட்புப்பெறுவோம் என மிக உறுதியாய் நம்பலாம் அன்றோ?

நாம் கடவுளுக்குப் பகைவர்களாயிருந்தும் அவருடைய மகன் நமக்காக உயிரைக் கொடுத்ததால் கடவுளோடு ஒப்புரவாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளோம். அப்படியானால் ஒப்புரவாக்கப்பட்டுள்ள நாம், வாழும் அவர் மகன் வழியாகவே மீட்கப்படுவோம் என மிக உறுதியாய் நம்பலாம் அன்றோ! அது மட்டும் அல்ல, இப்போது கடவுளோடு நம்மை ஒப்புரவாக்கியுள்ள நம் ஆண்டவர் இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் வழியாய் நாம் கடவுளோடு உறவுகொண்டு பெருமகிழ்ச்சியடைகிறோம். இம்மகிழ்ச்சியை நமக்குத் தருபவர் கடவுளே.

சாலமோனின் ஞானம் 3:1-9

நீதி மான்களின் ஆன்மாக்கள் கடவுளின் கையில் உள்ளன. கடுந்தொல்லை எதுவும் அவர்களைத் தீண்டாது. அறிவிலிகளின் கண்களில் இறந்தவர்களைப்போல் அவர்கள் தோன்றினார்கள். நீதிமான்களின் பிரிவு பெருந்துன்பமாகக் கருதப்பட்டது. அவர்கள் நம்மைவிட்டுப் பிரிந்து சென்றது பேரழிவாகக் கருதப்பட்டது. அவர்களோ அமைதியாக இளைப்பாறுகிறார்கள்.

மனிதர் பார்வையில் அவர்கள் தண்டிக்கப்பட்டாலும், இறவாமையில் அவர்கள் உறுதியான நம்பிக்கை கொண்டுள்ளார்கள். சிறிதளவு அவர்கள் தண்டித்துத் திருத்தப்பட்டபின், பேரளவு கைம்மாறு பெறுவார்கள். கடவுள் அவர்களைச் சோதித்தறிந்தபின், அவர்களைத் தமக்குத் தகுதியுள்ளவர்கள் என்று கண்டார்.

பொன்னை உலையிலிட்டுப் புடமிடுவதுபோல் அவர் அவர்களைப் புடமிட்டார்: எரிபலிபோல் அவர்களை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டார். கடவுள் அவர்களைச் சந்திக்கவரும்போது அவர்கள் ஒளி வீசுவார்கள்: அரிதாள் நடுவே தீப்பொறிபோலப் பரந்து சுடர்விடுவார்கள்: நாடுகளுக்குத் தீர்ப்பு வழங்குவார்கள்: மக்கள்மீது ஆட்சிசெலுத்துவார்கள். ஆண்டவரோ அவர்கள்மீது என்றென்றும் அரசாள்வார். அவரை நம்புவோர் உண்மையை அறிந்துகொள்வர்: அன்பில் நம்பிக்கை கொள்வோர் அவரோடு நிலைத்திருப்பர். அருளும் இரக்கமும் அவர் தேர்ந்து கொண்டோர் மீது இருக்கும்.

At that time: Jesus said to the crowds, “All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

Now we have been reconciled by the death of his Son, surely we may count on being saved by the life of his Son

A reading from the letter of St.Paul to the Romans 5: 5-11

Brethren: Hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. While we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person— though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
