நீங்கள் கண்டவற்றையும் கேட்டவற்றையும் யோவானிடம் போய் அறிவியுங்கள்.

அக்காலத்தில்

யோவான் தம் சீடருள் இருவரை வரவழைத்து, “வரவிருப்பவர் நீர்தாமா? அல்லது வேறொருவரை எதிர்பார்க்க வேண்டுமா?” எனக் கேட்க ஆண்டவரிடம் அனுப்பினார். அவர்கள் அவரிடம் வந்து, “ ‘வர இருப்பவர் நீர்தாமா? அல்லது வேறொருவரை எதிர்பார்க்க வேண்டுமா?’ எனக் கேட்கத் திருமுழுக்கு யோவான் எங்களை உம்மிடம் அனுப்பினார்” என்று சொன்னார்கள்.

அந்நேரத்தில் பிணிகளையும் நோய்களையும் பொல்லாத ஆவிகளையும் கொண்டிருந்த பலரை இயேசு குணமாக்கினார்; பார்வையற்ற பலருக்குப் பார்வை அருளினார். அதற்கு அவர் மறுமொழியாக, “நீங்கள் கண்டவற்றையும் கேட்டவற்றையும் யோவானிடம் போய் அறிவியுங்கள்; பார்வையற்றோர் பார்வை பெறுகின்றனர்; கால் ஊனமுற்றோர் நடக்கின்றனர்; தொழுநோயாளர் நலமடைகின்றனர்; காது கேளாதோர் கேட்கின்றனர்; இறந்தோர் உயிருடன் எழுப்பப்படுகின்றனர்; ஏழைகளுக்கு நற்செய்தி அறிவிக்கப்படுகின்றது. என்னைத் தயக்கம் இன்றி ஏற்றுக்கொள்வோர் பேறுபெற்றோர்” என்றார்.

ஆண்டவராம் இறைவன் உரைப்பதைக் கேட்பேன்; தம் மக்களுக்கு, தம் பற்றுமிகு அடியார்க்கு நிறைவாழ்வை அவர் வாக்களிக்கின்றார்;

அவருக்கு அஞ்சி நடப்போர்க்கு அவரது மீட்பு அண்மையில் உள்ளது என்பது உறுதி; நம் நாட்டில் அவரது மாட்சி குடிகொள்ளும். - பல்லவி

பேரன்பும் உண்மையும் ஒன்றையொன்று சந்திக்கும்; நீதியும் நிறைவாழ்வும் ஒன்றையொன்று முத்தமிடும்.

நற்செய்தி அறிவிப்பவரே, உன் குரலை எழுப்பி, இதோ என் தலைவராகிய ஆண்டவர் ஆற்றலுடன் வருகின்றார் என்று முழங்கிடுவீர். அல்லேலூயா.

ஆண்டவர் கூறுவதாவது: நானே ஆண்டவர்; வேறு எவரும் இல்லை. நான் ஒளியை உண்டாக்குகிறேன்; இருளைப் படைக்கிறேன்; நல்வாழ்வை அமைப்பவன் நான்; தீமையைப் படைப்பவனும் நானே; இவை அனைத்தையும் செய்யும் ஆண்டவர் நானே. வானங்கள், பனிமழையென வெற்றியை அனுப்பட்டும்; மேகங்கள் மாரியென அதைப் பொழியட்டும்; மண்ணுலகம் வாய்திறந்து விடுதலைக் கனி வழங்கட்டும், அதனுடன் நீதி துளிர்க்கச் செய்யட்டும்; இவற்றைச் செய்பவர் ஆண்டவராகிய நானே.

ஏனெனில் விண்ணுலகைப் படைத்த ஆண்டவர் கூறுவது இதுவே: அவரே கடவுள்; மண்ணுலகைப் படைத்து உருவாக்கியவர் அவரே; அதை நிலைநிறுத்துபவரும் அவரே; வெறுமையாய் இருக்குமாறு படைக்காது, மக்கள் வாழுமாறு அதை உருவாக்கினார்.

ஆண்டவர் நான் அல்லவா? என்னையன்றிக் கடவுள் வேறு எவரும் இல்லை; நீதியுள்ளவரும் மீட்பு அளிப்பவருமான இறைவன் என்னையன்றி வேறு எவரும் இல்லை. மண்ணுலகின் அனைத்து எல்லை நாட்டோரே! என்னிடம் திரும்பி வாருங்கள்; விடுதலை பெறுங்கள்; ஏனெனில் நானே இறைவன்; என்னையன்றி வேறு எவருமில்லை. நான் என்மேல் ஆணையிட்டுள்ளேன்; என் வாயினின்று நீதிநிறை வாக்கு புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றது; அது வீணாகத் திரும்பி வராது; முழங்கால் அனைத்தும் எனக்குமுன் மண்டியிடும்; நா அனைத்தும் என்மேல் ஆணையிடும். ‘ஆண்டவரில் மட்டும் எனக்கு நீதியும் ஆற்றலும் உண்டு’ என்று ஒவ்வொருவனும் சொல்லி அவரிடம் வருவான்; அவருக்கு எதிராகச் சீறி எழுந்தவர் அனைவரும் வெட்கக்கேடு அடைவர். இஸ்ரயேலின் வழி மரபினர் அனைவரும் ஆண்டவரால் ஏற்புடையோராகப்பெற்று அவரைப் போற்றுவர்.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. Luke 7 : 19-23.

John, summoning two of his disciples, sent them to the Lord to ask, ‘Are you the one who is to come, or must we wait for someone else?’ When the men reached Jesus they said, ‘John the Baptist has sent us to you, to ask, “Are you the one who is to come or have we to wait for someone else?”’ It was just then that he cured many people of diseases and afflictions and of evil spirits, and gave the gift of sight to many who were blind. Then he gave the messengers their answer, ‘Go back and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind see again, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, the Good News is proclaimed to the poor and happy is the man who does not lose faith in me.’

I, the Lord, shall create deliverance.

A Reading from the Book of Isaiah 45: 6-8,18, 21-25

Apart from me, all is nothing.

I am the Lord, unrivalled,

I form the light and create the dark.

I make good fortune and create calamity,

it is I, the Lord, who do all this.

Send victory like a dew, you heavens,

and let the clouds rain it down.

Let the earth open

for salvation to spring up.

Let deliverance, too, bud forth

which I, the Lord, shall create.

Yes, thus says the Lord,

creator of the heavens,

who is God,

who formed the earth and made it,

who set it firm,

created it no chaos,

but a place to be lived in:

‘I am the Lord, unrivalled:

there is no other god besides me.

A God of integrity and a saviour:

there is none apart from me.
