ஆபேலின் இரத்தம் முதல் சக்கரியாவின் இரத்தம் வரை, இறைவாக்கினர் அனைவரின் இரத்தத்திற்காகக் கணக்குக் கேட்கப்படும்.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு கூறியது: “ஐயோ! உங்களுக்குக் கேடு! ஏனெனில் நீங்கள் இறைவாக்கினருக்கு நினைவுச் சின்னங்கள் எழுப்புகிறீர்கள். ஆனால் அவர்களைக் கொலை செய்தவர்கள் உங்கள் மூதாதையர்களே. உங்கள் மூதாதையரின் செயல்களுக்கு நீங்கள் சாட்சிகளாய் இருக்கிறீர்கள்; அவற்றுக்கு உடன்பட்டும் இருக்கிறீர்கள். அவர்கள் கொலை செய்தார்கள்; நீங்கள் நினைவுச் சின்னம் எழுப்புகிறீர்கள்.

இதை முன்னிட்டே கடவுளின் ஞானம் இவ்வாறு கூறுகிறது: நான் அவர்களிடம் இறைவாக்கினரையும் திருத்தூதரையும் அனுப்புவேன். அவர்களுள் சிலரைக் கொலை செய்வார்கள்; சிலரைத் துன்புறுத்துவார்கள். ஆபேலின் இரத்தம் முதல், பலிபீடத்திற்கும் தூயகத்திற்கும் நடுவே சிந்தப்பட்ட சக்கரியாவின் இரத்தம் வரை, உலகம் தோன்றியதிலிருந்து சிந்தப்பட்ட இறைவாக்கினர் அனைவரின் இரத்தத்திற்காக இந்தத் தலைமுறையினரிடம் கணக்குக் கேட்கப்படும். ஆம், நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன், இந்தத் தலைமுறையினரிடம் கணக்குக் கேட்கப்படும்.

ஐயோ! திருச்சட்ட அறிஞரே, உங்களுக்குக் கேடு! ஏனெனில் அறிவுக் களஞ்சியத்தின் திறவுகோலை நீங்கள் எடுத்துக்கொண்டீர்கள். நீங்களும் நுழைவதில்லை; நுழைவோரையும் தடுக்கிறீர்கள்.” இயேசு அங்கிருந்து புறப்பட்டபோது மறைநூல் அறிஞரும் பரிசேயரும் பகைமை உணர்வு மிகுந்தவராய் அவரது பேச்சில் அவரைச் சிக்கவைக்குமாறு பல கேள்விகளைக் கேட்டனர்.

இயேசுவின்மீது வைக்கும் நம்பிக்கையின் வாயிலாகவே எவரும் கடவுளுக்கு ஏற்புடையவராக முடியும்.

திருத்தூதர் பவுல் உரோமையருக்கு எழுதிய திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 3: 21-30

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

கடவுள் மனிதரைத் தமக்கு ஏற்புடையவராக்கும் செயலுக்கும் திருச்சட்டத்துக்கும் தொடர்பில்லை என்பது வெளியாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது; திருச்சட்டமும் இறைவாக்குகளும் இதற்குச் சான்று பகர்கின்றன. இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் மீது கொள்ளும் நம்பிக்கையின் வழியாகக் கடவுள் மனிதரைத் தமக்கு ஏற்புடையவராக்குகிறார்; நம்பிக்கை கொள்வோர் அனைவரையுமே அவர் ஏற்புடையவராக்குகிறார். அவர் வேறுபாடு காட்டுவது இல்லை. ஏனெனில், எல்லாருமே பாவம் செய்து கடவுள் கொடுத்த மேன்மையை இழந்து போயினர். ஆயினும் அனைவரும் கிறிஸ்து இயேசு நிறைவேற்றிய மீட்புச் செயலின்மூலம் கடவுளுடைய அருளால் இலவசமாய் அவருக்கு ஏற்புடையவர்கள் ஆக்கப்படுகின்றனர். இரத்தம் சிந்தி மனிதருடைய பாவத்துக்குக் கழுவாய் ஆகுமாறு இயேசுவைக் கடவுள் நியமித்தார். அவரிடம் நம்பிக்கை கொள்வோருக்காகவே அவ்வாறு செய்தார். கடவுள் கடந்த காலத்தில் மனிதர் செய்த பாவங்களைக் கண்டுகொள்ளாமல் விட்டுவிட்டார். இவ்வாறு மனிதரைத் தமக்கு ஏற்புடையவராக்கும் முறையை அவர் காட்டினார். இக்காலத்தில் தமது நீதியைக் கடவுள் பொறுமையோடு காட்டி வருகிறார். ஆம், அவர் நீதியுள்ளவர். இயேசுவின் மீது நம்பிக்கை கொள்வோரைத் தமக்கு ஏற்புடையவராக்கி வருகிறார்.

அப்படியிருக்க, பெருமை பாராட்ட இடமேது? இடமில்லை. எந்த அடிப்படையில் பெருமை பாராட்ட இடமில்லை? செயல்களின் அடிப்படையிலா? இல்லை; நம்பிக்கையின் அடிப்படையில்தான். ஏனெனில் திருச்சட்டம் சார்ந்த செயல்களால் அல்ல, இயேசுவின் மீது வைக்கும் நம்பிக்கையின் வாயிலாகவே எவரும் கடவுளுக்கு ஏற்புடையவராக முடியும் எனக் கருதுகிறோம். கடவுள் யூதருக்கு மட்டுமா கடவுள்? பிற இனத்தாருக்கும் அவர் கடவுள் அல்லவா? ஆம், பிற இனத்தாருக்கும் அவரே கடவுள். ஏனெனில் கடவுள் ஒருவரே. விருத்தசேதனம் பெற்றவர்களாயினும் விருத்தசேதனம் பெறாதவர்களாயினும், இயேசுவின் மீது கொள்ளும் நம்பிக்கையின் அடிப்படையில் யாவரையும் கடவுள் தமக்கு ஏற்புடையவராக்குகிறார்.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Luke 11:47-54 

Jesus said: ‘Alas for you who build the tombs of the prophets, the men your ancestors killed! In this way you both witness what your ancestors did and approve it; they did the killing, you do the building.

  ‘And that is why the Wisdom of God said, “I will send them prophets and apostles; some they will slaughter and persecute, so that this generation will have to answer for every prophet’s blood that has been shed since the foundation of the world, from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was murdered between the altar and the sanctuary.” Yes, I tell you, this generation will have to answer for it all.

  ‘Alas for you lawyers who have taken away the key of knowledge! You have not gone in yourselves, and have prevented others going in who wanted to.’

  When he left the house, the scribes and the Pharisees began a furious attack on him and tried to force answers from him on innumerable questions, setting traps to catch him out in something he might say.

It is the same justice of God that comes to Jew and pagan alike

A reading from the letter of St.Paul to the Romans 3: 21-30 

God’s justice that was made known through the Law and the Prophets has now been revealed outside the Law, since it is the same justice of God that comes through faith to everyone, Jew and pagan alike, who believes in Jesus Christ. Both Jew and pagan sinned and forfeited God’s glory, and both are justified through the free gift of his grace by being redeemed in Christ Jesus who was appointed by God to sacrifice his life so as to win reconciliation through faith. In this way God makes his justice known; first, for the past, when sins went unpunished because he held his hand, then, for the present age, by showing positively that he is just, and that he justifies everyone who believes in Jesus.

  So what becomes of our boasts? There is no room for them. What sort of law excludes them? The sort of law that tells us what to do? On the contrary, it is the law of faith, since, as we see it, a man is justified by faith and not by doing something the Law tells him to do. Is God the God of Jews alone and not of the pagans too? Of the pagans too, most certainly, since there is only one God.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Luke 10:1-9 

The Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them out ahead of him, in pairs, to all the towns and places he himself was to visit. He said to them, ‘The harvest is rich but the labourers are few, so ask the Lord of the harvest to send labourers to his harvest. Start off now, but remember, I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. Carry no purse, no haversack, no sandals. Salute no one on the road. Whatever house you go into, let your first words be, “Peace to this house!” And if a man of peace lives there, your peace will go and rest on him; if not, it will come back to you. Stay in the same house, taking what food and drink they have to offer, for the labourer deserves his wages; do not move from house to house. Whenever you go into a town where they make you welcome, eat what is set before you. Cure those in it who are sick, and say, “The kingdom of God is very near to you.”’
