ஆகஸ்ட் 4  :   நற்செய்தி வாசகம்

என்னிடம் வருபவருக்குப் பசியே இராது; என்னிடம் நம்பிக்கை கொண்டிருப்பவருக்கு என்றுமே தாகம் இராது.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசுவும் அவருடைய சீடரும் திபேரியாவில் இல்லை என்பதைக் கண்ட மக்கள்/ கூட்டமாய் படகுகளில் ஏறி இயேசுவைத் தேடிக் கப்பர்நாகுமுக்குச் சென்றனர். அங்குக் கடற்கரையில் அவர்கள் அவரைக் கண்டு, “ரபி, எப்போது இங்கு வந்தீர்?” என்று கேட்டார்கள்.

இயேசு மறுமொழியாக, “நீங்கள் அரும் அடையாளங்களைக் கண்டதால் அல்ல, மாறாக, அப்பங்களை வயிறார உண்டதால்தான் என்னைத் தேடுகிறீர்கள் என உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன். அழிந்து போகும் உணவுக்காக உழைக்க வேண்டாம். நிலைவாழ்வு தரும் அழியாத உணவுக்காகவே உழையுங்கள். அவ்வுணவை மானிட மகன் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுப்பார். ஏனெனில் தந்தையாகிய கடவுள் அவருக்கே தம் அதிகாரத்தை அளித்துள்ளார்” என்றார்.

அவர்கள் அவரை நோக்கி, “எங்கள் செயல்கள் கடவுளுக்கு ஏற்றவையாக இருப்பதற்கு நாங்கள் என்ன செய்யவேண்டும்?” என்று கேட்டார்கள். இயேசு அவர்களைப் பார்த்து, “கடவுள் அனுப்பியவரை நம்புவதே கடவுளுக்கேற்ற செயல்” என்றார். அவர்கள், “நாங்கள் கண்டு உம்மை நம்பும் வகையில் நீர் என்ன அரும் அடையாளம் காட்டுகிறீர்? அதற்காக என்ன அரும் செயல் செய்கிறீர்? எங்கள் முன்னோர் பாலைநிலத்தில் மன்னாவை உண்டனரே! ‘அவர்கள் உண்பதற்கு வானிலிருந்து உணவு அருளினார்’ என்று மறைநூலிலும் எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளது அல்லவா!” என்றனர்.

இயேசு அவர்களிடம், “உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்: வானிலிருந்து உங்களுக்கு உணவு அருளியவர் மோசே அல்ல; வானிலிருந்து உங்களுக்கு உண்மையான உணவு அருள்பவர் என் தந்தையே. கடவுள் தரும் உணவு வானிலிருந்து இறங்கி வந்து உலகுக்கு வாழ்வு அளிக்கிறது” என்றார்.

அவர்கள், “ஐயா, இவ்வுணவை எங்களுக்கு எப்போதும் தாரும்” என்று கேட்டுக் கொண்டார்கள். இயேசு அவர்களிடம், “வாழ்வு தரும் உணவு நானே. என்னிடம் வருபவருக்குப் பசியே இராது; என்னிடம் நம்பிக்கை கொண்டிருப்பவருக்கு என்றுமே தாகம் இராது” என்றார்.

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

நான் ஆண்டவர் பெயரால் வற்புறுத்திச் சொல்வது இதுவே: பிற இனத்தவர் வாழ்வதுபோல இனி நீங்கள் வாழக் கூடாது. அவர்கள் தங்கள் வீணான எண்ணங்களுக்கேற்ப வாழ்கிறார்கள்.

ஆனால் நீங்கள் கிறிஸ்துவைப் பற்றிக் கற்றறிந்தது இதுவல்ல. உண்மையில் நீங்கள் இயேசுவைப் பற்றிக் கேள்விப்பட்டதும் கற்றறிந்ததும் அவரிடமுள்ள உண்மைக்கேற்பவே இருந்தது. எனவே, உங்களுடைய முந்தின நடத்தையை மாற்றி, தீய நாட்டங்களால் ஏமாந்து அழிவுறும் பழைய மனிதருக்குரிய இயல்பைக் களைந்துவிடுங்கள். உங்கள் மனப்பாங்கு புதுப்பிக்கப்பட வேண்டும். கடவுளது சாயலாகப் படைக்கப்பட்ட புதிய மனிதருக்குரிய இயல்பை அணிந்துகொள்ளுங்கள். அவ்வியல்பு உண்மையான நீதியிலும் தூய்மையிலும் வெளிப்படும்.

அந்நாள்களில்

இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் கூட்டமைப்பினர் அனைவரும் சீன் பாலை நிலத்தில் மோசேக்கும் ஆரோனுக்கும் எதிராக முறுமுறுத்தனர். இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் அவர்களை நோக்கி, “இறைச்சிப் பாத்திரத்தின் அருகில் அமர்ந்து, அப்பம் உண்டு நிறைவடைந்து, எகிப்து நாட்டிலேயே ஆண்டவர் கையால் நாங்கள் இறந்திருந்தால் எத்துணை நலமாய் இருந்திருக்கும்! ஆனால் இந்தச் சபையினர் அனைவரும் பசியால் மாண்டு போகவோ இப்பாலை நிலத்திற்குள் நீங்கள் எங்களைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு வந்திருக்கிறீர்கள்” என்றனர்.

அப்போது ஆண்டவர் மோசேயை நோக்கி, “இதோ பார்! நான் உங்களுக்காக வானத்திலிருந்து அப்பத்தைப் பொழியப் போகிறேன். மக்கள் வெளியே போய்த் தேவையானதை அன்றன்று சேகரித்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டும். என் கட்டளைப்படி நடப்பார்களா இல்லையா என்பதை நான் இவ்வாறு சோதித்தறியப் போகிறேன்.

இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களின் முறையீடுகளை நான் கேட்டுள்ளேன். நீ அவர்களிடம், ‘மாலையில் நீங்கள் இறைச்சி உண்ணலாம். காலையில் அப்பம் உண்டு நிறைவடையலாம். நானே உங்கள் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவர் என்பதை இதனால் நீங்கள் உணர்ந்து கொள்வீர்கள்’ என்று சொல்” என்றார்.

மாலையில் காடைகள் பறந்து வந்து கூடாரங்களை மூடிக்கொண்டன. காலையில் பனிப் படலம் கூடாரத்தைச் சுற்றிப் படிந்திருந்தது. பனிப் படலம் மறைந்தபோது பாலை நிலப்பரப்பின்மேல் மென்மையான, தட்டையான, மெல்லிய உறைபனி போன்ற சிறிய பொருள் காணப்பட்டது. இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் அதைப் பார்த்துவிட்டு, ஒருவரை ஒருவர் நோக்கி ‘மன்னா’ என்றனர். ஏனெனில், அது என்ன என்று அவர்களுக்குத் தெரியவில்லை.

அப்போது மோசே அவர்களை நோக்கி, “ஆண்டவர் உங்களுக்கு உணவாகத் தந்த அப்பம் இதுவே” என்றார்.

It is my Father who gives you the bread from heaven; I am the bread of life.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.John 6: 24-35 

When the people saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they got into boats and crossed to Capernaum to look for Jesus. When they found him on the other side, they said to him, ‘Rabbi, when did you come here?’

  Jesus answered:

‘I tell you most solemnly,

you are not looking for me because you have seen the signs

but because you had all the bread you wanted to eat.

Do not work for food that cannot last,

but work for food that endures to eternal life,

the kind of food the Son of Man is offering you,

for on him the Father, God himself, has set his seal.’

Then they said to him, ‘What must we do if we are to do the works that God wants?’ Jesus gave them this answer, ‘This is working for God: you must believe in the one he has sent.’ So they said, ‘What sign will you give to show us that we should believe in you? What work will you do? Our fathers had manna to eat in the desert; as scripture says: He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ Jesus answered:

it was not Moses who gave you bread from heaven,

it is my Father who gives you the bread from heaven,

Put aside your old self and put on the new

A reading from the letter of St.Paul to the Ephesians 4: 17, 20-24.

I want to urge you in the name of the Lord, not to go on living the aimless kind of life that pagans live. Now that is hardly the way you have learnt from Christ, unless you failed to hear him properly when you were taught what the truth is in Jesus. You must give up your old way of life; you must put aside your old self, which gets corrupted by following illusory desires. Your mind must be renewed by a spiritual revolution so that you can put on the new self that has been created in God’s way, in the goodness and holiness of the truth.
