What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it? Already you have all you want! Already you have become rich! Without us you have become kings! And would that you did reign, so that we might share the rule with you! For I think that God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, like men sentenced to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels, and to men. We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honour, but we in disrepute. To the present hour we hunger and thirst, we are poorly dressed and buffeted and homeless, and we labour, working with our own hands. கடவுளின் திருத்தூதராகிய எங்களை அவர் எல்லாருக்கும் கடையராக்கினார்; நாங்கள் மரண தண்டனை பெற்றவர்கள் போல் ஆனோம். மனிதருக்கும் வானதூதருக்கும் உலகுக்கும் காட்சிப் பொருளானோம் எனக் கருதுகிறேன்.

அதுபோலப் பழைய தோற்பைகளில் எவரும் புதிய திராட்சை மதுவை ஊற்றி வைப்பதில்லை; ஊற்றி வைத்தால் புதிய மது தோற்பைகளை வெடிக்கச் செய்யும். மதுவும் சிந்திப் போகும்; தோற்பைகளும் பாழாகும். புதிய மதுவைப் புதிய தோற்பைகளில்தான் ஊற்றி வைக்க வேண்டும். பழைய திராட்சை மதுவைக் குடித்தவர் எவரும் புதியதை விரும்ப மாட்டார்; ஏனெனில் ‘பழையதே நல்லது’ என்பது அவர் கருத்து.”

இயேசு கெனசரேத்து ஏரிக் கரையில் நின்றுகொண்டிருந்தார். திரளான மக்கள் இறைவார்த்தையைக் கேட்பதற்கு அவரை நெருக்கிக் கொண்டிருந்தனர். அப்போது ஏரிக் கரையில் இரண்டு படகுகள் நிற்கக் கண்டார். மீனவர் படகை விட்டு இறங்கி, வலைகளை அலசிக் கொண்டிருந்தனர். அப்படகுகளுள் ஒன்று சீமோனுடையது. அதில் இயேசு ஏறினார். அவர் கரையிலிருந்து அதைச் சற்றே தள்ளும்படி அவரிடம் கேட்டுக்கொண்டு படகில் அமர்ந்தவாறே மக்கள் கூட்டத்துக்குக் கற்பித்தார்.

அவர் பேசி முடித்த பின்பு சீமோனை நோக்கி, “ஆழத்திற்குத் தள்ளிக்கொண்டுபோய், மீன் பிடிக்க உங்கள் வலைகளைப் போடுங்கள்” என்றார். சீமோன் மறுமொழியாக, “ஐயா, இரவு முழுவதும் நாங்கள் பாடுபட்டு உழைத்தும் ஒன்றும் கிடைக்கவில்லை; ஆயினும் உமது சொற்படியே வலைகளைப் போடுகிறேன்” என்றார்.

அப்படியே அவர்கள் செய்து பெருந்திரளான மீன்களைப் பிடித்தார்கள். வலைகள் கிழியத் தொடங்கவே, மற்றப் படகிலிருந்த தங்கள் கூட்டாளிகளுக்குச் சைகை காட்டித் துணைக்கு வருமாறு அழைத்தார்கள். அவர்களும் வந்து இரு படகுகளையும் மீன்களால் நிரப்பினார்கள். அவை மூழ்கும் நிலையிலிருந்தன.

இதைக் கண்ட சீமோன் பேதுரு, இயேசுவின் கால்களில் விழுந்து, “ஆண்டவரே, நான் பாவி, நீர் என்னை விட்டுப் போய்விடும்” என்றார். அவரும் அவரோடு இருந்த அனைவரும் மிகுதியான மீன்பாட்டைக் கண்டு திகைப்புற்றனர். சீமோனுடைய பங்காளிகளான செபதேயுவின் மக்கள் யாக்கோபும் யோவானும் அவ்வாறே திகைத்தார்கள்.

இயேசு சீமோனை நோக்கி, “அஞ்சாதே; இது முதல் நீ மனிதரைப் பிடிப்பவன் ஆவாய்” என்று சொன்னார்.

அவர்கள் தங்கள் படகுகளைக் கரையில் கொண்டுபோய்ச் சேர்த்தபின் அனைத்தையும் விட்டுவிட்டு அவரைப் பின்பற்றினார்கள்.

எவரும் தம்மைத் தாமே ஏமாற்றிக்கொள்ள வேண்டாம். இவ்வுலகில் தங்களை ஞானிகள் என்று கருதிக்கொள்வோர் தாங்களே மடையராகட்டும். அப்போது அவர்கள் ஞானிகள் ஆவார்கள். இவ்வுலக ஞானம் கடவுள் முன் மடமையாய் உள்ளது. ஏனெனில் மறைநூலில் எழுதியுள்ளவாறு, “ஞானிகளைக் கடவுள் அவர்களது சூழ்ச்சியில் சிக்க வைப்பார்.” மேலும் “ஞானிகளின் எண்ணங்கள் வீணானவை என ஆண்டவர் அறிவார்.” எனவே மனிதரைக் குறித்து யாரும் பெருமை பாராட்டலாகாது. பவுல், அப்பொல்லோ, கேபா ஆகிய அனைவரும் உங்களுக்குரியவர்களே. அவ்வாறே உலகம், வாழ்வு, சாவு, நிகழ்காலம், எதிர்காலம் இவை அனைத்தும் உங்களுக்குரியவைகளே. ஆனால் நீங்கள் கிறிஸ்துவுக்கு உரியவர்கள்; கிறிஸ்து கடவுளுக்குரியவர்.

At that time: On one occasion, while the crowd was pressing in on Jesus to hear the word of God, he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret, and he saw two boats by the lake, but the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. Getting into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, he asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the people from the boat. And when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” And Simon answered, “Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets.” And when they had done this, they enclosed a large number of fish, and their nets were breaking. They signalled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish that they had taken, and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him.

Brethren: Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their craftiness”, and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.” So let no one boast in men. For all things are yours, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future— all are yours, and you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு தொழுகைக்கூடத்தை விட்டு, சீமோன் வீட்டிற்குள் சென்றார். சீமோனின் மாமியார் கடுங்காய்ச்சலால் துன்புற்ற நிலையில் இருந்தார். அவர்கள் அவருக்காக இயேசுவிடம் வேண்டினார்கள். இயேசு அவரருகில் நின்று, காய்ச்சலைக் கடிந்துகொள்ள, அது அவரை விட்டு நீங்கிற்று. உடனே அவர் எழுந்து அவர்களுக்குப் பணிவிடை செய்தார்.

கதிரவன் மறையும் நேரத்தில், எல்லாரும் தங்களிடையே பற்பல பிணிகளால் நலம் குன்றி இருந்தோரை அவரிடம் கூட்டி வந்தார்கள். அவர் ஒவ்வொருவர் மேலும் தம் கைகளை வைத்து அவர்களைக் குணமாக்கினார். பேய்களும், “நீர் இறைமகன்” என்று கத்திக்கொண்டே பலரிடமிருந்து வெளியேறின. அவர் மெசியா என்று பேய்கள் அறிந்திருந்தபடியால், அவர் அவற்றை அதட்டி, பேசவிடாமல் தடுத்தார்.

பொழுது விடியும் வேளையில் இயேசு தனிமையான ஓர் இடத்திற்குப் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றார். திரளான மக்கள் அவரைத் தேடிச் சென்றனர்; அவரிடம் வந்து சேர்ந்ததும் தங்களை விட்டுப் போகாதவாறு அவரைத் தடுத்து நிறுத்தப் பார்த்தனர். அவரோ அவர்களிடம், “நான் மற்ற ஊர்களிலும் இறையாட்சியைப் பற்றி நற்செய்தி அறிவிக்க வேண்டும்; இதற்காகவே நான் அனுப்பப்பட்டிருக்கிறேன்” என்று சொன்னார். பின்பு அவர் யூதேயாவிலுள்ள தொழுகைக்கூடங்களில் நற்செய்தியைப் பறைசாற்றி வந்தார்.

ஏனெனில், ஒருவர் ‘நான் பவுலைச் சார்ந்துள்ளேன்’ என்றும் வேறொருவர் ‘நான் அப்பொல்லோவைச் சார்ந்துள்ளேன்’ என்றும் உங்களிடையே சொல்லிக் கொள்ளும்போது நீங்கள் மனிதப் போக்கில்தானே நடக்கிறீர்கள்? அப்பொல்லோ யார்? பவுல் யார்? நீங்கள் நம்பிக்கை கொள்ளக் காரணமாயிருந்த பணியாளர்கள்தானே! ஆண்டவர் ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் அருளியவாறு அவர்கள் தொண்டு ஆற்றுகிறார்கள். நான் நட்டேன்; அப்பொல்லோ நீர் பாய்ச்சினார்; கடவுளே விளையச் செய்தார். நடுகிறவருக்கும் பெருமை இல்லை; நீர் பாய்ச்சுபவருக்கும் பெருமை இல்லை; விளையச் செய்யும் கடவுளுக்கே பெருமை. நடுகிறவரானாலும் நீர் பாய்ச்சுகிறவரானாலும் ஒன்றுதான். தாம் செய்த வேலைக்கு ஏற்ப ஒவ்வொருவரும் தம் கூலியைப் பெறுவர். நாங்கள் கடவுளின் உடன் உழைப்பாளர்கள். நீங்கள் கடவுள் பண்படுத்தும் தோட்டம். நீங்கள் அவர் எழுப்பும் கட்டடம்.

At that time: Jesus arose and left the synagogue and entered Simon’s house. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was ill with a high fever, and they appealed to him on her behalf. And he stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her, and immediately she rose and began to serve them. Now when the sun was setting, all those who had any who were sick with various diseases brought them to him, and he laid his hands on every one of them and healed them. And demons also came out of many, crying, “You are the Son of God!” But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ. And when it was day, he departed and went into a desolate place. And the people sought him and came to him, and would have kept him from leaving them, but he said to them, “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well; for I was sent for this purpose.” And he was preaching in the synagogues of Judea.

I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready, for you are still of the flesh. For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way? For when one says, “I follow Paul”, and another, “I follow Apollos”, are you not being merely human? What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each. I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labour. For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு கலிலேயாவிலுள்ள கப்பர்நாகும் ஊருக்குச் சென்று, ஓய்வு நாள்களில் மக்களுக்குக் கற்பித்து வந்தார். அவருடைய போதனையைக் குறித்து அவர்கள் வியப்பில் ஆழ்ந்தார்கள்.

ஏனெனில் அவர் அதிகாரத்தோடு கற்பித்தார். தொழுகைக்கூடத்தில் தீய ஆவியான பேய் பிடித்திருந்த ஒருவர் இருந்தார். அவரைப் பிடித்திருந்த பேய், “ஐயோ! நாசரேத்து இயேசுவே, உமக்கு இங்கு என்ன வேலை? எங்களை ஒழித்துவிடவா வந்தீர்? நீர் யார் என எனக்குத் தெரியும். நீர் கடவுளுக்கு அர்ப்பணமானவர்” என்று உரத்த குரலில் கத்தியது.

“வாயை மூடு, இவரை விட்டு வெளியே போ” என்று இயேசு அதனை அதட்டினார். அப்பொழுது பேய் பிடித்தவரை அவர்கள் நடுவே விழச் செய்து, அவருக்கு ஒரு தீங்கும் இழைக்காமல் பேய் அவரை விட்டு வெளியேறிற்று.

எல்லாரும் திகைப்படைந்து, “எப்படிப் பேசுகிறார், பாருங்கள்! அதிகாரத் தோடும் வல்லமையோடும் தீய ஆவிகளுக்குக் கட்டளையிடுகிறார்; அவையும் போய்விடுகின்றனவே!” என்று ஒருவரோடு ஒருவர் பேசிக் கொண்டனர். அவரைப் பற்றிய பேச்சு சுற்றுப்புறமெங்கும் பரவியது.
