“Is there any wonder that the Lord cannot perform? By the time I return home, Sara will have a son ” 

A Reading from the book of Genesis (18, 1-15) 

In those days, at the oaks of Mambre, the Lord appeared to Abraham, who was seated at the entrance of the tent. It was the hottest hour of the day. Abraham looked up, and he saw three men standing near him. As soon as he saw them, he ran to meet them from the entrance of the tent and bowed to the ground. He said: “My lord, if I could find favor in your eyes, do not pass without stopping near your servant. Let some water be brought to you, and you'll wash your feet, and lay down under this tree. I will get something to eat, and you will regain your strength before going any further, since you have passed near your servant! They replied: "Do as you said. Abraham hurried to find Sarah in her tent, and he said: "Quickly take three large measures of fine flour, knead the dough and make pancakes." Then Abraham ran to the herd, and took a fat and tender calf, and gave it to a servant, who hastened to prepare it. He took white cheese, milk, the veal that had been prepared, and laid them in front of them; he was standing beside them, under the tree, while they ate. They asked him, "Where is Sarah your wife?" He replied, "She is inside the tent." The traveler continued: "I will come back to you at the appointed time for the birth, and at that time Sara, your wife, will have a son. Now Sara was listening from behind, at the entrance to the tent. - Abraham and Sarah were very advanced in years, and Sarah had ceased to have what happens to women. She laughed to herself; she said to herself: "Yet I have passed the age of pleasure, and my lord is an old man!" The Lord God said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh, saying, 'Would I really have a child, old as I am?" Is there a wonder that the Lord cannot accomplish? By the time I return home, at the appointed time for the birth, Sarah will have a son. Sara lied, saying, "I didn't laugh," because she was scared. But the Lord replied: “Yes, you laughed. " because she was afraid. But the Lord replied: “Yes, you laughed. " because she was afraid. But the Lord replied: “Yes, you laughed. "

இயேசு மலையிலிருந்து இறங்கியபின் பெருந்திரளான மக்கள் அவரைப் பின்தொடர்ந்தார்கள். அப்பொழுது தொழுநோயாளர் ஒருவர் வந்து அவரைப் பணிந்து, “ஐயா, நீர் விரும்பினால் எனது நோயை நீக்க உம்மால் முடியும்” என்றார். இயேசு தமது கையை நீட்டிஅவரைத் தொட்டு, “நான் விரும்புகிறேன், உமது நோய் நீங்குக!” என்று சொன்னார். உடனே அவரது தொழுநோய் நீங்கியது. இயேசு அவரிடம், “இதை எவருக்கும் சொல்ல வேண்டாம், கவனமாய் இரும். ஆனால் நீர் போய் உம்மைக் குருவிடம் காட்டி மோசே கட்டளையிட்டுள்ள காணிக்கையைச் செலுத்தும். நீர் நலமடைந்துள்ளீர் என்பதற்கு அது சான்றாகும்” என்றார்.

பின்பு கடவுள் ஆபிரகாமிடம், “உன் மனைவியைச் ‘சாராய்’ என அழைக்காதே. இனிச் ‘சாரா’ என்பதே அவள் பெயர். அவளுக்கு ஆசி வழங்குவேன். அவள் வழியாக உனக்கு ஒரு மகனையும் தருவேன். அவளுக்கு நான் ஆசி வழங்க, அவள் வழியாக நாடுகள் தோன்றும். மக்களினங்களுக்கு அரசர்களும் அவளிடமிருந்து உதிப்பர்” என்றார்.

ஆபிரகாம் தாள்பணிந்து வணங்கி, நகைத்து, “நூறு வயதிலா எனக்குக் குழந்தை பிறக்கும்? தொண்ணூறு வயது சாராவா குழந்தை பெறப் போகிறாள்?” என்று தமக்குள் சொல்லிக் கொண்டார். ஆபிரகாம் கடவுளிடம், “உம் திருமுன் இஸ்மயேல் வாழ்ந்தாலே போதும்” என்றார்.

கடவுள் அவரிடம், “அப்படியன்று. உன் மனைவி சாரா உனக்கு ஒரு மகனைப் பெறுவாள். அவனுக்கு நீ ‘ஈசாக்கு’ எனப் பெயரிடுவாய். அவனுடனும் அவனுக்குப் பின்வரும் அவன் வழிமரபினருடனும் என்றுமுள்ள உடன்படிக்கையை நான் நிலைநாட்டுவேன். இஸ்மயேலைப் பற்றிய உன் வேண்டுதலை நான் கேட்டேன். அவனுக்கு ஆசி வழங்கி, அவனை மிகப்பெருமளவில் பலுகச் செய்வேன். பன்னிரு இளவரசர் களுக்கு அவன் தந்தையாவான்; அவனிடம் இருந்து ஒரு பெரிய நாடு தோன்றும். ஆனால், சாரா உனக்கு அடுத்த ஆண்டு இதே காலத்தில் பெறப்போகும் ஈசாக்கிடம் என் உடன்படிக்கையை நிலைநாட்டுவேன்” என்றார்.

When Jesus came down from the mountain, large crowds followed him. And behold, a leper came up, bowed down to him and said, "Lord, if you want to, you can cleanse me." Jesus stretched out his hand, touched him and said, "I want it, be cleansed." And immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. Jesus said to him: “Be careful, don't tell anyone, but go and show yourself to the priest. And give the offering which Moses commanded: it will be a testimony to the people."

When Abraham was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to him and said to him, “I am the Mighty God; walk in my presence and be perfect. God said to Abraham, "You will keep my covenant, you and your offspring after you, from generation to generation.
