அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு கலிலேயக் கடற்கரை வழியாகச் சென்று அங்கே ஒரு மலையின் மீது ஏறி அமர்ந்தார். அப்பொழுது பெருந்திரளான மக்கள் அவரிடம் வந்தனர். அவர்கள் தங்களோடு கால் ஊனமுற்றோர், பார்வையற்றோர், உடல் ஊனமுற்றோர், பேச்சற்றோர் மற்றும் பிற நோயாளர் பலரையும் அவர் காலடியில் கொண்டு வந்து சேர்த்தனர். அவர்களை அவர் குணமாக்கினார். பேச்சற்றோர் பேசுவதையும் உடல் ஊனமுற்றோர் நலமடைவதையும் பார்வையற்றோர் பார்க்கிறதையும் கண்டு மக்கள் கூட்டத்தினர் வியந்து இஸ்ரயேலின் கடவுளைப் போற்றிப் புகழ்ந்தனர்.

இயேசு தம் சீடரை வரவழைத்து, “நான் இம்மக்கள் கூட்டத்தின்மீது பரிவு கொள்கிறேன். ஏற்கெனவே மூன்று நாள்களாக இவர்கள் என்னுடன் இருக்கிறார்கள். உண்பதற்கும் இவர்களிடம் எதுவும் இல்லை; இவர்களைப் பட்டினியாய் அனுப்பிவிடவும் நான் விரும்பவில்லை; அனுப்பினால் வழியில் தளர்ச்சி அடைந்துவிடலாம்” என்று கூறினார்.

அதற்குச் சீடர்கள் அவரிடம், “இவ்வளவு திரளான மக்களுக்கு அளிக்கப் போதுமான உணவு நமக்குப் பாலைநிலத்தில் எங்கிருந்து கிடைக்கும்?” என்று கேட்டார்கள். இயேசு அவர்களைப் பார்த்து, “உங்களிடம் எத்தனை அப்பங்கள் உள்ளன?” என்று கேட்டார். அவர்கள், “ஏழு அப்பங்கள் உள்ளன; சில மீன்களும் இருக்கின்றன” என்றார்கள்.

தரையில் அமருமாறு மக்களுக்கு அவர் கட்டளையிட்டார். பின்பு அந்த ஏழு அப்பங்களையும் மீன்களையும் எடுத்து, கடவுளுக்கு நன்றி செலுத்தி, பிட்டு, சீடர்களிடம் கொடுக்க, அவர்களும் மக்களுக்குக் கொடுத்தார்கள். அனைவரும் வயிறார உண்டனர். மீதியாய் இருந்த துண்டுகளை ஏழு கூடைகள் நிறைய எடுத்தனர்.

Jesus reached the shores of the Sea of Galilee, and he went up into the hills. He sat there, and large crowds came to him bringing the lame, the crippled, the blind, the dumb and many others; these they put down at his feet, and he cured them. The crowds were astonished to see the dumb speaking, the cripples whole again, the lame walking and the blind with their sight, and they praised the God of Israel.

  But Jesus called his disciples to him and said, ‘I feel sorry for all these people; they have been with me for three days now and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them off hungry, they might collapse on the way.’ The disciples said to him, ‘Where could we get enough bread in this deserted place to feed such a crowd?’ Jesus said to them, ‘How many loaves have you?’ ‘Seven’ they said ‘and a few small fish.’ Then he instructed the crowd to sit down on the ground, and he took the seven loaves and the fish, and he gave thanks and broke them and handed them to the disciples, who gave them to the crowds. அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு கலிலேயக் கடலோரமாய் நடக்கும்போது, சகோதரர் இருவரைக் கண்டார். ஒருவர் பேதுரு எனப்படும் சீமோன், மற்றவர் அவர் சகோதரரான அந்திரேயா. மீனவரான அவ்விருவரும் கடலில் வலை வீசிக் கொண்டிருந்தனர்.

இயேசு அவர்களைப் பார்த்து, “என் பின்னே வாருங்கள்; நான் உங்களை மனிதரைப் பிடிப்பவர் ஆக்குவேன்” என்றார்.

உடனே அவர்கள் வலைகளை விட்டுவிட்டு அவரைப் பின்பற்றினார்கள். அங்கிருந்து அப்பால் சென்றபோது வேறு இரு சகோதரர்களைக் கண்டார். அவர்கள் செபதேயுவின் மகன் யாக்கோபும் அவர் சகோதரரான யோவானும் ஆவர். அவர்கள் தங்கள் தந்தை செபதேயுவுடன் படகில் வலைகளைப் பழுது பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். இயேசு அவர்களையும் அழைத்தார்.

உடனே அவர்கள் தங்கள் படகையும் தந்தையையும் விட்டுவிட்டு அவரைப் பின்பற்றினார்கள்.

மறையுரைச் சிந்தனை

இன்று திருச்சபையானது திருத்தூதரும், மறைசாட்சியுமான தூய அந்திரேயாவின் விழாவைக் கொண்டாடுகின்றது.

இவர் திருத்தூதர் பேதுருவுக்கு அண்ணன். “வீர மனிதன்” என்று தன்னுடைய பெயருக்கு ஏற்ப வாழ்ந்தவர். தொடக்கத்தில் இவர் திருமுழுக்கு யோவானிடம் சீடராக இருந்தார். அப்போது இயேசு கடந்துசெல்கிறபோது திருமுழுக்கு யோவான் அவரைப் பார்த்து, “இவரே கடவுளின் ஆட்டுக்குட்டி” என்று சுட்டிக்காட்டுகிறார். உடனே திருமுழுக்கு யோவானின் சீடராக இருந்த அந்திரேயாவும், இன்னொரு சீடரும் இயேசுவைப் பின்தொடர்கின்றனர்; அவரோடு தங்குகின்றனர்; இயேசுவே மெசியா எனக் கண்டுணர்ந்து கொள்கின்றனர். அந்திரேயாவோ தனது சகோதரன் பேதுருவிடம் சென்று “நாங்கள் மெசியாவைக் கண்டோம்” என்று சொல்லி, அவருக்கு இயேசுவை அறிமுகப்படுத்துகிறார். (யோவான் 1:35 – 41).

அதே போன்று கலிலேயாக் கடலோரமாய் நின்று பேதுருவும், இவரும் மீன்பிடித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும்போது அவ்வழியாய் வரும் இயேசு, “என்னைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து வாருங்கள், நான் உங்களை மனிதர்களைப் பிடிப்பவர் ஆக்குவேன்’ என்று சொன்னபோது அவர்கள் எல்லாவற்றையும் விட்டுவிட்டு இயேசுவை பின்தொடர்ந்து செல்கிறார்கள். இவ்வாறு பேதுரு உட்பட அந்திரேயா ஆண்டவர் அழைத்தவுடன் எல்லாவற்றையும் விட்டுவிட்டு, அவரைப் பின்தொடர்கிறார்கள்.

இயேசுவின் பணிவாழ்வின்போதும் அந்திரேயா ஒருசில இடங்களில் முக்கியத்துவம் பெறுவதையும் நற்செய்தியிலே வாசிக்கின்றோம். யோவான் நற்செய்தி 6:1-15 ல் ஆண்டவர் இயேசு பாலைவனத்தில் போதித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும்போது மக்கள் பசியால் வாடுவதை உணர்ந்து, அவர்களுக்கு உணவிட நினைக்கிறார். அப்போது அந்திரேயாவோ, “இங்கே சிறுவனிடத்தில் ஐந்து அப்பங்களும், இரண்டு மீண்டுகளும் இருக்கின்றன” என்று சொல்லி இயேசு அப்பங்களைப் பகிர்ந்தளிப்பதற்கு உறுதுணையாக இருக்கின்றார்.

ஒருமுறை கிரேக்கர்கள் இயேசுவைக் காணவேண்டும் என்று பிலிப்பிடம் வருகிறபோது, பிலிப்பு அவர்களை அந்திரேயாவிடம் அழைத்து வர, அவர் அவர்களை இயேசுவிடம் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு போகிறார். இப்படியாக நற்செய்தி முழுவதும் மக்களை இயேசுவிடம் அழைத்துச்செல்லும் பணியை சிறப்பாக செய்கின்றார். பேதுருவையும் இவர் இயேசுவிடம் அழைத்துச் சென்றார் என்று மேலே வாசித்ததை இங்கே நினைவுபடுத்திகொள்வோம்.

ஆண்டவர் இயேசு உயிர்த்தெழுந்த பின்பு இவர் சித்தியாவிற்கு (ரஷ்யா) நற்செய்தி அறிவிக்கச் சென்றார்; அங்கே பைசாந்திய நகரின் ஆயராக இருந்தார் என்று திருச்சபையின் தந்தைகளில் ஒருவரான ஆரிஜின் குறிப்பிடுவார். மேலும் இவரைப் பற்றிய செய்தி ‘அந்திரேயாவின் பணி’ என்ற திருச்சபையால் அங்கீகரிக்கப்படாத நூலிலிருந்து அதிகமாக படித்தறிய முடிகிறது.

அந்திரேயா பார்வையற்றவருக்கு பார்வையளித்தார் என்றும், இறந்தவரை உயிர்ப்பித்தார் என்றும், பேய்களை ஓட்டினார் என்றும் அந்த நூலிலே படிக்கின்றோம். சித்தியாவில் நற்செய்தி அறிவித்த அந்திரேயா பத்தாரஸ் என்ற இடத்திற்கு நற்செய்தி அறிவிக்கச் செல்கிறார். அங்கே ஆளுநராக இருந்தவன் ஏஜெரஸ். அவருடைய மனைவி மாக்சிமில்லா தீராத நோயினால் படுத்தபடுக்கையாய் கிடைந்தபோது அந்திரேயா அவரைக் குணப்படுத்துகிறார். இதனால் மனமாற்றம் அடைந்த அவர் திருமுழுக்குப் பெற்று கிறிஸ்தவ நெறியைப் பின்பற்றத் தொடங்கினார். இது பிடிக்காத அவருடைய கணவன் அந்திரேயாவை சிலுவையில் அறைந்து கொலை செய்யத் தீர்மானித்தான்.

அந்திரேயாவை X வடிவில் இருந்த சிலுவையில் கொல்லத் திட்டமிட்டான் அந்நகரின் ஆளுநன். இதை அறிந்த அந்திரேயா “ஓ மாட்சிமை மிகுந்த சிலுவையே, உனக்காகத் தான் நான் இத்தனை நாள்கள் ஏங்கிக்கொண்டிருந்தேன்” என்று சொல்லி சிலுவைச் சாவை மிகத் துணிவோடு ஏற்றுக்கொண்டு கி.பி.70 ஆண்டு நவம்பர் 30 ஆம் தேதி உயிர்துறந்தார்.

அந்திரேயாவின் விழாவைக் கொண்டாடும் இவ்வேளையில் இவரது வாழ்வு நமக்கு என்ன செய்தியைத் தருகிறது என்று சிந்தித்துப் பார்ப்போம். முதலாவதாக இவர் இயேசுவை மெசியா என அறிந்துகொள்கிறார். அறிந்ததோடு மட்டுமல்லாமல் அதனை தன்னுடைய சகோதரனான பேதுருவுக்கும் எடுத்துரைத்து, அவரை இயேசுவிடம் அழைத்துக் கொண்டுவருகிறார்.

நாமும்கூட இயேசுவை மெசியா என ஏற்று, அதனை பிற மக்களுக்கும் அறிமுகம் செய்ய, அவர்களை நம்பிக்கையில் வளர்க்க அழைக்கப்படுகின்றோம். உரோமையருக்கு எழுதப்பட்ட திருமுகத்திலிருந்து எடுக்கப்பட்ட இன்றைய முதல் வாசகத்தில் “இயேசுவே ஆண்டவர் என்று வாயார அறிக்கையிட்டு, இறந்த அவரை கடவுள் உயிர்த்தெழச் செய்தார் என்று நம்பி ஏற்றுக் கொள்வோர் மீட்கப்படுவார்” என்கிறார் தூய பவுலடியார். ஆக, நாம் ஒவ்வொருவரும் இயேசுவை மெசியா என ஏற்று, அவர் காட்டும் வழியில் நடக்க முயற்சி செய்யவேண்டும்.

அடுத்ததாக அந்திரேயாவை இயேசு அழைத்தபோது அவர் எல்லாவற்றையும் விட்டுவிட்டு இயேசுவைப் பின்தொடர்கிறார். வேறு வார்த்தைகளில் சொல்லவேண்டும் என்றால் உலக செல்வங்களைத் துறந்து, உண்மையான செல்வதைப் பற்றிக் கொள்கிறார். நாம் உலக செல்வத்திற்குப் பின்னாலா? அல்லது உண்மைச் செல்வமாகிய இயேசுவுக்கு பின்னாலா? என்று சிந்தித்துப் பார்க்கவேண்டும்.

இருபதாம் நூற்றாண்டில் திருச்சபையில் மிகப்பெரிய எழுத்தாளராக அறியப்பட்டவர் ஹென்றி நூவன். ஒருமுறை சிலர் அவருடைய எழுத்தாற்றலையும், திறமையையும் பார்த்துவிட்டு அவரை ஹார்வேட் பல்கலைக்கழகத்திலே பணியாற்றக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டனர். ஆனால் அவரோ எனக்கு எந்தப் பொறுப்பும் தேவையில்லை என்று சொல்லி கனடாவில் உள்ள டொராண்டோ என்ற இடத்தில் இருக்கும் ஒரு மனவளர்ச்சி குன்றிய குழந்தைகளுக்கு அருட்பணியாளராக பணியாற்றினார்.

தனக்கு பேரும், புகழும் வந்தாலும் ஆண்டவருக்காக, அவருடைய மக்களுக்காக மட்டுமே பணிசெய்வேன் என்று சொன்ன ஹென்றி நூவனின் செயல் உண்மையிலே பாராட்டுக்குரியது. அந்திரேயாவும் இயேசுவுக்காக மட்டுமே பணிசெய்வேன் என்று எல்லாவற்றையும் துறந்துவாழ்ந்தார்.

ஆதலால் இவருடைய விழாவைக் கொண்டாடும் இவ்வேளையில் இயேசுவை மெசியா என ஏற்று, அவரை எல்லா மக்களுக்கும் அறிவிக்கும் நற்செய்திப் பணியாளர் ஆவோம். இறையருள் பெறுவோம்.

அறிவிக்கப்படாத ஒன்றுபற்றி அவர்கள் எவ்வாறு கேள்வியுறுவார்கள்? அனுப்பப்படாமல் அவர்கள் எவ்வாறு அறிவிப்பார்கள்?

திருத்தூதர் பவுல் உரோமையருக்கு எழுதிய திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 10: 9-18

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

‘இயேசு ஆண்டவர்’ என வாயார அறிக்கையிட்டு, இறந்த அவரைக் கடவுள் உயிர்த்தெழச் செய்தார் என நீங்கள் உள்ளூர நம்பினால் மீட்புப் பெறுவீர்கள். இவ்வாறு உள்ளூர நம்புவோர் கடவுளுக்கு ஏற்புடையவர் ஆவர்; வாயார அறிக்கையிடுவோர் மீட்புப் பெறுவர். ஏனெனில், “அவர்மீது நம்பிக்கை கொண்டோர் வெட்கத்திற்கு உள்ளாக மாட்டார்” என்பது மறைநூல் கூற்று. இதில் யூதர் என்றோ கிரேக்கர் என்றோ வேறுபாடில்லை; அனைவருக்கும் ஆண்டவர் ஒருவரே. அவரை நோக்கி மன்றாடும் யாவருக்கும் அவர் அளவற்ற நலன்களைப் பொழிகிறார். “ஆண்டவரின் திருப்பெயரை அறிக்கையிட்டு மன்றாடுகிறவர் எவரும் மீட்புப் பெறுவர்” என்று எழுதியுள்ளது அல்லவா?

ஆனால் அவர்மீது நம்பிக்கை கொண்டிருந்தாலன்றி, அவர்கள் எவ்வாறு அவரை நோக்கி மன்றாடுவார்கள்? தாங்கள் கேள்வியுறாத ஒருவர்மீது எவ்வாறு நம்பிக்கை கொள்வார்கள்? அறிவிக்கப்படாத ஒன்று பற்றி அவர்கள் எவ்வாறு கேள்வியுறுவார்கள்? அனுப்பப்படாமல் அவர்கள் எவ்வாறு அறிவிப்பார்கள்? இதைப் பற்றியே, “நற்செய்தி அறிவிப்போரின் பாதங்கள் எத்துணை அழகாய் இருக்கின்றன” என்று மறைநூலில் எழுதியுள்ளது. ஆயினும் எல்லாருமே நற்செய்தியை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளவில்லை.

இதைக் குறித்தே எசாயா, “ஆண்டவரே, நாங்கள் அறிவித்ததை நம்பியவர் யார்?” என்று முறையிடுகிறார். ஆகவே அறிவிப்பதைக் கேட்டால்தான் நம்பிக்கை உண்டாகும். கிறிஸ்துவைப் பற்றிய செய்தி அறிவிக்கப்பட்டால்தான் அதைக் கேட்க வாய்ப்புண்டு. அப்படியானால், அவர்கள் கேள்விப்படவில்லை என்று சொல்ல முடியுமோ? எப்படிச் சொல்ல முடியும்? ஏனெனில், “அவர்களது அறிக்கை உலகெங்கும் சென்றடைகின்றது; அவர்கள் கூறும் செய்தி உலகின் கடை எல்லை வரை எட்டுகின்றது.”

Faith comes from what is preached, and what is preached comes from the word of Christ.

A Reading form the Letter of St.Paul to the Romans 10: 9-18 

If your lips confess that Jesus is Lord and if you believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, then you will be saved. By believing from the heart you are made righteous; by confessing with your lips you are saved. When scripture says: those who believe in him will have no cause for shame, it makes no distinction between Jew and Greek: all belong to the same Lord who is rich enough, however many ask his help, for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

  But they will not ask his help unless they believe in him, and they will not believe in him unless they have heard of him, and they will not hear of him unless they get a preacher, and they will never have a preacher unless one is sent, but as scripture says: The footsteps of those who bring good news are a welcome sound. Not everyone, of course, listens to the Good News. As Isaiah says: Lord, how many believed what we proclaimed? So faith comes from what is preached, and what is preached comes from the word of Christ. Let me put the question: is it possible that they did not hear? Indeed they did; in the words of the psalm, their voice has gone out through all the earth, and their message to the ends of the world.

அக்காலத்தில் 

இயேசு கப்பர்நாகுமுக்குச் சென்றபோது நூற்றுவர் தலைவர் ஒருவர் அவரிடம் உதவி வேண்டி வந்தார். “ஐயா, என் பையன் முடக்குவாதத்தால் மிகுந்த வேதனையுடன் படுத்துக் கிடக்கிறான்” என்றார். இயேசு அவரிடம், “நான் வந்து அவனைக் குணமாக்குவேன்” என்றார். நூற்றுவர் தலைவர் மறுமொழியாக, “ஐயா, நீர் என் வீட்டிற்குள் அடியெடுத்து வைக்க நான் தகுதியற்றவன். ஆனால் ஒரு வார்த்தை மட்டும் சொல்லும்; என் பையன் நலமடைவான். நான் அதிகாரத்துக்கு உட்பட்டவன். என் அதிகாரத்துக்கு உட்பட்ட படைவீரரும் உள்ளனர். நான் அவர்களுள் ஒருவரிடம் ‘செல்க’ என்றால் அவர் செல்கிறார். வேறு ஒருவரிடம் ‘வருக’ என்றால் அவர் வருகிறார். என் பணியாளரைப் பார்த்து ‘இதைச் செய்க’ என்றால் அவர் செய்கிறார்” என்றார். 

இதைக் கேட்டு இயேசு வியந்து, தம்மைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து வந்தவர்களை நோக்கி, “உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்; இஸ்ரயேலர் யாரிடமும் இத்தகைய நம்பிக்கையை நான் கண்டதில்லை. கிழக்கிலும் மேற்கிலுமிருந்து பலர் வந்து, ஆபிரகாம், ஈசாக்கு, யாக்கோபு ஆகியோருடன் விண்ணரசின் பந்தியில் அமர்வர்.” என்றார் 

இது கிறிஸ்து வழங்கும் நற்செய்தி.

பல்லவி: அகமகிழ்வோடு ஆண்டவரது இல்லத்திற்குப் போவோம்.

1. ‘ஆண்டவரது இல்லத்திற்குப் போவோம்’ என்ற அழைப்பை நான் கேட்டபோது அகமகிழ்ந்தேன். 

2. எருசலேமே! இதோ, நாங்கள் அடியெடுத்து வைத்து உன் வாயில்களில் நிற்கின்றோம். - பல்லவி

"Many will come from the east and the west and will take their place at the feast of the kingdom of Heaven" 

Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 8, 5-11 

At that time,

as Jesus had entered Capernaum,

a centurion approached him and begged him:

“Lord, my servant is lying at home, paralyzed,

and he is in terrible pain. "

Jesus said to him:

" I will go and heal him myself. "

The centurion replied,

" Lord, I am not worthy

to have you come under my roof,

but only say the word

and my servant will be healed.

I myself, who am subject to an authority,

have soldiers under my orders;

A Reading from the Book of Isaiah 2: 1 -5.

The vision of Isaiah son of Amoz, concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

In the days to come

the mountain of the Temple of the Lord

shall tower above the mountains

and be lifted higher than the hills.

All the nations will stream to it,

peoples without number will come to it; and they will say:

  ‘Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,

  to the Temple of the God of Jacob

  that he may teach us his ways

  so that we may walk in his paths;

  since the Law will go out from Zion,

  and the oracle of the Lord from Jerusalem.’

He will wield authority over the nations

and adjudicate between many peoples;

these will hammer their swords into ploughshares,

மானிடமகன் வருகையைப்பற்றி இயேசு தம் சீடர்களுக்குக் கூறியது: “கதிரவனிலும் நிலாவிலும் விண்மீன்களிலும் அடையாளங்கள் தென்படும். மண்ணுலகில் மக்களினங்கள் கடலின் கொந்தளிப்பின் முழக்கத்தினால் கலங்கி, என்ன செய்வதென்று தெரியாது குழப்பம் அடைவார்கள். உலகிற்கு என்ன நேருமோ என எண்ணி மனிதர் அச்சத்தினால் மயக்கமுறுவர். ஏனெனில், வான்வெளிக் கோள்கள் அதிரும். அப்போது மிகுந்த வல்லமையோடும் மாட்சியோடும் மானிடமகன் மேகங்கள் மீது வருவதை அவர்கள் காண்பார்கள். இவை நிகழத் தொடங்கும்போது, நீங்கள் தலைநிமிர்ந்து நில்லுங்கள்; ஏனெனில் உங்கள் மீட்பு நெருங்கி வருகின்றது.”

சகோதர சகோதரிகளே! நீங்கள் கடவுளுக்கு உகந்தவர்களாய் வாழும் முறையை எங்களிடம் கற்றுக் கொண்டீர்கள்; அப்படியே வாழ்ந்தும் வருகிறீர்கள். இதில் இன்னும் முன்னேற வேண்டுமென ஆண்டவராகிய இயேசுவின் பெயரால் உங்களிடம் இறுதியாகக் கேட்டுக் கொள்கிறோம். ஆண்டவராகிய இயேசுவின் பெயரால் நாங்கள் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த கட்டளைகளை நீங்கள் அறிவீர்கள்.

இதோ, நாள்கள் வருகின்றன, என்கிறார் ஆண்டவர். அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரயேல் வீட்டாருக்கும் யூதா வீட்டாருக்கும் நான் கொடுத்துள்ள வாக்குறுதியை நிறைவேற்றுவேன்.

And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand erect, hold your heads high, because your liberation is near at hand.

  ‘Watch yourselves, or your hearts will be coarsened with debauchery and drunkenness and the cares of life, and that day will be sprung on you suddenly, like a trap. For it will come down on every living man on the face of the earth. Stay awake, praying at all times for the strength to survive all that is going to happen, and to stand with confidence before the Son of Man.’

ஆட்சியும் அரசுரிமையும் புனித மக்களுக்குத் தரப்படும்.

இறைவாக்கினர் தானியேல் நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 7: 15-27

தானியேல் ஆகிய நான் உள்ளம் கலங்கினேன். மனக்கண்முன் தோன்றிய காட்சிகள் என்னை அச்சுறுத்தின. அங்கு நின்றுகொண்டிருந்தவர்களுள் ஒருவரை அணுகி, ‘இவற்றிற்கெல்லாம் பொருள் என்ன?’ என்று கேட்டேன். அவர் அவற்றின் உட்பொருளை எல்லாம் எனக்கு விளக்கிக் கூறினார். இந்த நான்கு விலங்குகளும் உலகில் எழும்பப்போகும் நான்கு அரசர்களைக் குறிக்கின்றன. ஆனால் உன்னதரின் புனிதர்கள் அரசுரிமை பெறுவர்; அந்த அரசுரிமையை என்றும் ஊழிஊழிக்காலமும் கொண்டிருப்பர்.

அதன் பின்னர், மற்ற விலங்குகளினின்று மாறுபட்டு, மிகவும் அஞ்சி நடுங்கவைக்கும் தோற்றத்துடன், இரும்புப் பற்களும் வெண்கல நகங்களும் கொண்டு, அனைத்தையும் தூள் தூளாக நொறுக்கி விழுங்கி, எஞ்சியதைக் கால்களால் மிதித்துப்போட்ட அந்த நான்காம் விலங்கைப் பற்றி அறிந்துகொள்ள விரும்பினேன். அதன் தலையில் இருந்த பத்துக் கொம்புகளைப் பற்றியும், மூன்று கொம்புகள் தன் முன்னிலையில் விழுந்து போக அங்கே முளைத்த கண்களும் பெருமையாகப் பேசும் வாயும் கொண்டிருந்த ஏனையவற்றை விடப் பெரிதாகத் தோன்றிய அந்தக் கொம்பைப் பற்றியும் தெரிந்துகொள்ள விரும்பினேன். நான் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கையில், அந்தக் கொம்பு புனிதர்களுக்கு எதிராகப் போர் புரிந்து அவர்களை வென்றது. தொன்மை வாய்ந்தவர் வந்து உன்னதரின் புனிதர்களுக்கு நீதி வழங்கும் வரையிலும் உரிய காலத்தில் புனிதர்கள் அரசுரிமை பெறும் வரையில் இவ்வாறு நடந்தது.

அவர் தொடர்ந்து பேசினார்; அந்த நான்காம் விலங்கோ உலகில் தோன்றப்போகும் நான்காம் அரசைக் குறிக்கின்றது; இது மற்றெல்லா அரசுகளையும் விட வேறுபட்டதாகும். உலக முழுவதையும் அது மிதித்துத் தூள்தூளாக நொறுக்கி விழுங்கிவிடும். அந்தப் பத்துக் கொம்புகளோ இந்த அரசினின்று தோன்ற இருக்கும் பத்து மன்னர்களைக் குறிக்கின்றன. அவர்களுக்குப் பிறகு மற்றொருவன் எழும்புவான்; முந்தினவர்களை விட வேறுபட்டிருப்பான்; மூன்று அரசர்களை முறியடிப்பான்; அவன் உன்னதர்க்கு எதிரான சொற்களைப் பேசுவான்; உன்னதரின் புனிதர்களைத் துன்புறுத்துவான்; வழிபாட்டுக் காலங்களையும் திருச்சட்டத்தையும் மாற்ற நினைப்பான். மூன்றரை ஆண்டுகள் புனிதர்கள் அவனது கையில் ஒப்புவிக்கப்படுவர். ஆனால், நீதிமன்றம் தீர்ப்பு வழங்க அமரும்; அவனது ஆட்சி அவனிடமிருந்து பறிக்கப்பட்டு, எரியுண்டு ஒன்றுமில்லாது அழிக்கப்படும். ஆட்சியும் அரசுரிமையும், வானத்தின் கீழுள்ள உலகனைத்திலும் உள்ள அரசுகளின் மேன்மையும் உன்னதரின் புனித மக்களுக்குத் தரப்படும். அவர்களது அரசு என்றென்றும் நிலைக்கும் அரசு; எல்லா அரசுகளும் அவர்களுக்குப் பணிந்து கீழ்ப்படியும்.

His sovereignty will be an eternal sovereignty.

A Reading from the Book of Daniel 7: 15-27. 

I, Daniel, was deeply disturbed and the visions that passed through my head alarmed me. So I approached one of those who were standing by and asked him to tell me the truth about all this. And in reply he revealed to me what these things meant. “These four great beasts are four kings who will rise from the earth. Those who are granted sovereignty are the saints of the Most High, and the kingdom will be theirs for ever, for ever and ever.” Then I asked to know the truth about the fourth beast, different from all the rest, very terrifying, with iron teeth and bronze claws, eating, crushing and trampling underfoot what remained; and the truth about the ten horns on its head – and why the other horn sprouted and the three original horns fell, and why this horn had eyes and a mouth that was full of boasts, and why it made a greater show than the other horns. This was the horn I had watched making war on the saints and proving the stronger, until the coming of the one of great age who gave judgement in favour of the saints of the Most High, when the time came for the saints to take over the kingdom. This is what he said:

‘The fourth beast

is to be a fourth kingdom on earth,

different from all other kingdoms.

It will devour the whole earth,

trample it underfoot and crush it.

As for the ten horns: from this kingdom

will rise ten kings, and another after them;

this one will be different from the previous ones

and will bring down three kings;

he is going to speak words against the Most High,

and harass the saints of the Most High.

He will consider changing seasons and the Law,

and the saints will be put into his power

for a time, two times, and half a time.

But a court will be held and his power will be stripped from him,

consumed, and utterly destroyed.

And sovereignty and kingship,

and the splendours of all the kingdoms under heaven

will be given to the people of the saints of the Most High.

His sovereignty is an eternal sovereignty

and every empire will serve and obey him.’

வானத்தின் மேகங்களின்மீது மானிடமகனைப்போன்ற ஒருவர் தோன்றினார்.

இறைவாக்கினர் தானியேல் நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 7: 2-14

இரவில் நான் கண்ட காட்சியில் வானத்தின் நான்கு திசைக் காற்றுகளும் பெருங்கடலைக் கொந்தளிக்கச் செய்தன. அப்பொழுது நான்கு பெரிய விலங்குகள் கடலினின்று மேலெழும்பின. அவை வெவ்வேறு உருவம் கொண்டவை. அவற்றுள் முதலாவது கழுகின் இறக்கைகளை உடைய சிங்கத்தைப் போல் இருந்தது. நான் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கையில், அதன் இறக்கைகள் பிடுங்கப்பட்டன; அது தரையினின்று தூக்கப்பட்டு மனிதனைப் போல் இரண்டு கால்களில் நின்றது; அதற்கு மனித இதயமும் கொடுக்கப்பட்டது.

அடுத்து, வேறொரு இரண்டாம் விலங்கைக் கண்டேன். கரடியைப் போன்ற அந்த விலங்கு பின்னங்கால்களை ஊன்றி எழுந்து நின்றது; தன் மூன்று விலா எலும்புகளைத் தன் வாயின் பற்களுக்கு இடையில் கவ்விக்கொண்டிருந்தது. ‘எழுந்திரு, ஏராளமான இறைச்சியை விழுங்கு’ என்று அதற்குச் சொல்லப்பட்டது. இன்னும் நோக்குகையில், வேங்கை போன்ற வேறொரு விலங்கு காணப்பட்டது. அதன் முதுகில் பறவையின் இறக்கைகள் நான்கு இருந்தன; அந்த விலங்குக்கு நான்கு தலைகள் இருந்தன; அதற்கும் ஆளும் உரிமை கொடுக்கப்பட்டது.

இவற்றுக்குப் பிறகு, இரவின் காட்சியில் கண்ட நான்காம் விலங்கு, அஞ்சி நடுங்கவைக்கும் தோற்றமும் மிகுந்த வலிமையும் கொண்டதாய் இருந்தது. அதற்குப் பெரிய இரும்புப் பற்கள் இருந்தன. அது தூள் தூளாக நொறுக்கி விழுங்கியது; எஞ்சியதைக் கால்களால் மிதித்துப் போட்டது. இதற்குமுன் நான் கண்ட விலங்குகளுக்கு இது மாறுபட்டது. இதற்குப் பத்துக் கொம்புகள் இருந்தன. அந்தக் கொம்புகளை நான் கவனித்துப் பார்க்கையில், அவற்றின் நடுவில் வேறொரு சிறிய கொம்பு முளைத்தது; அதற்கு இடமளிக்கும் வகையில், முன்னைய கொம்புகளுள் மூன்று வேரோடு பிடுங்கப்பட்டன; அந்தக் கொம்பில் மனிதக் கண்களைப் போலக் கண்களும் பெருமை பேசும் வாயும் இருந்தன.

நான் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கையில், அரியணைகள் அமைக்கப்பட்டன; தொன்மை வாய்ந்தவர் அங்கு அமர்ந்தார்; அவருடைய ஆடை வெண்பனி போலவும், அவரது தலைமுடி தூய பஞ்சு போலவும் இருந்தன; அவருடைய அரியணை தீக்கொழுந்துகளாயும் அதன் சக்கரங்கள் எரிநெருப்பாயும் இருந்தன. அவர் முன்னிலையிலிருந்து நெருப்பாலான ஓடை தோன்றிப் பாய்ந்தோடி வந்தது; பல்லாயிரம் பேர் அவருக்குப் பணி புரிந்தார்கள்; பல கோடிப் பேர் அவர்முன் நின்றார்கள்; நீதிமன்றம் தீர்ப்பு வழங்க அமர்ந்தது; நூல்கள் திறந்து வைக்கப்பட்டன. அந்தக் கொம்பு பேசின பெருமைமிக்க சொற்களை முன்னிட்டு நான் அதைக் கவனித்துப் பார்த்தேன். அப்படிப் பார்க்கையில், அந்த விலங்கு கொல்லப்பட்டது; அதன் உடல் சிதைக்கப்பட்டு நெருப்பிற்கு இரையாக்கப்பட்டது. மற்ற விலங்குகளிடமிருந்து அவற்றின் ஆட்சியுரிமை பறிக்கப்பட்டது; ஆயினும் அவற்றின் வாழ்நாள் குறிப்பிட்ட கால நேரம்வரை நீட்டிக்கப்பட்டது.

'I saw, coming on the clouds of heaven, one like a son of man'.

A Reading from the Book of Daniel 7: 2-14.

I, Daniel, have been seeing visions in the night. I saw that the four winds of heaven were stirring up the great sea; four great beasts emerged from the sea, each different from the other. The first was like a lion with eagle’s wings; and as I looked its wings were torn off, and it was lifted from the ground and set standing on its feet like a man; and it was given a human heart. The second beast I saw was different, like a bear, raised up on one of its sides, with three ribs in its mouth, between its teeth. “Up!” came the command “Eat quantities of flesh!” After this I looked, and saw another beast, like a leopard, and with four bird’s wings on its flanks; it had four heads, and power was given to it. Next I saw another vision in the visions of the night: I saw a fourth beast, fearful, terrifying, very strong; it had great iron teeth, and it ate, crushed and trampled underfoot what remained. It was different from the previous beasts and had ten horns.

  While I was looking at these horns, I saw another horn sprouting among them, a little one; three of the original horns were pulled out by the roots to make way for it; and in this horn I saw eyes like human eyes, and a mouth that was full of boasts. As I watched:

Thrones were set in place

and one of great age took his seat.

His robe was white as snow,

the hair of his head as pure as wool.

His throne was a blaze of flames,

its wheels were a burning fire.

A stream of fire poured out,

issuing from his presence.

A thousand thousand waited on him,

ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him.

A court was held

and the books were opened.

The great things the horn was saying were still ringing in my ears, and as I watched, the beast was killed, and its body destroyed and committed to the flames. The other beasts were deprived of their power, but received a lease of life for a season and a time.

I gazed into the visions of the night.

And I saw, coming on the clouds of heaven,

one like a son of man.

He came to the one of great age

and was led into his presence.

On him was conferred sovereignty,

glory and kingship,

and men of all peoples, nations and languages became his servants.

His sovereignty is an eternal sovereignty

which shall never pass away,

nor will his empire ever be destroyed.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு தம் சீடர்களை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: “எருசலேமைப் படைகள் சூழ்ந்திருப்பதை நீங்கள் காணும்போது அதன் அழிவு நெருங்கி வந்துவிட்டது என அறிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள். அப்போது யூதேயாவில் உள்ளவர்கள் மலைகளுக்குத் தப்பி ஓடட்டும்; நகரத்தின் நடுவில் உள்ளவர்கள் வெளியேறட்டும்; நாட்டுப் புறங்களில் இருப்பவர்கள் நகரத்துக்குள்ளே வரவேண்டாம். ஏனெனில் அவை பழிவாங்கும் நாள்கள். அப்போது மறைநூலில் எழுதியுள்ள யாவும் நிறைவேறும்.

அந்நாள்களில் கருவுற்றிருப்போர், பாலூட்டுவோர் ஆகியோரின் நிலைமை அந்தோ பரிதாபம்! ஏனெனில் மண்ணுலகின்மீது பேரிடரும் அம்மக்கள்மீது கடவுளின் சினமும் வரும். அவர்கள் கூரான வாளால் வீழ்த்தப்படுவார்கள்; எல்லா நாடுகளுக்கும் சிறைப்பிடித்துச் செல்லப்படுவார்கள்; பிற இனத்தார் காலம் நிறைவு பெறும்வரை எருசலேம் அவர்களால் மிதிக்கப்படும்.

மேலும் கதிரவனிலும் நிலாவிலும் விண்மீன்களிலும் அடையாளங்கள் தென்படும். மண்ணுலகில் மக்களினங்கள் கடலின் கொந்தளிப்பின் முழக்கத்தினால் கலங்கி, என்ன செய்வதென்று தெரியாது குழப்பம் அடைவார்கள். உலகிற்கு என்ன நேருமோ என எண்ணி மனிதர் அச்சத்தினால் மயக்கமுறுவர். ஏனெனில், வான்வெளிக் கோள்கள் அதிரும்.

அப்போது மிகுந்த வல்லமையோடும் மாட்சியோடும் மானிடமகன் மேகங்கள்மீது வருவதை அவர்கள் காண்பார்கள். இவை நிகழத் தொடங்கும்போது, நீங்கள் தலை நிமிர்ந்து நில்லுங்கள்; ஏனெனில் உங்கள் மீட்பு நெருங்கி வருகின்றது.”

கடவுள் தம் தூதரை அனுப்பிச் சிங்கங்களின் வாய்களைக் கட்டிப் போட்டார்.

இறைவாக்கினர் தானியேல் நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 6: 11-27

அந்நாள்களில்

முன்னரே கூடிப் பேசிக்கொண்டபடி, அந்த மனிதர்கள் உள்ளே நுழைந்து தானியேல் தம் கடவுளிடம் வேண்டுவதையும் மன்றாடுவதையும் கண்டார்கள்.

உடனே அவர்கள் அரசனை அணுகி, அவனது தடையுத்தரவைப் பற்றிக் குறிப்பிட்டு, “அரசரே! முப்பது நாள்வரையில் அரசராகிய உம்மிடமன்றி வேறெந்தத் தெய்வத்திடமோ மனிதனிடமோ யாதொரு விண்ணப்பமும் செய்கின்ற எந்த மனிதனும் சிங்கக் குகையில் தள்ளப்படுவான் என்ற தடையுத்தரவில் கையொப்பமிட்டுள்ளீர் அல்லவா?” என்றார்கள்.

அதற்கு அரசன், “ஆம், மேதியர், பாரசீகரின் சட்டங்கள் மாறாதிருப்பது போல், இதுவும் மாறாததே” என்றான்.

உடனே அவர்கள் அரசனை நோக்கி, “யூதாவிலிருந்து சிறைப்பிடித்துக் கொண்டு வரப்பட்டவர்களுள் ஒருவனாகிய தானியேல் உம்மை மதியாமல், நீர் கையொப்பமிட்டுள்ள தடையுத்தரவை மீறி நாள்தோறும் மூன்று வேளையும் வேண்டுதல் செய்கிறான்” என்றார்கள். ஆனால், அரசன் இந்தச் சொற்களைக் கேட்டு மிகவும் மனம் வருந்தினான்; தானியேலைக் காப்பாற்றத் தனக்குள் உறுதி பூண்டவனாய், அன்று கதிரவன் மறையும் வரையில் அவரைக் காப்பாற்ற வழி தேடினான்.

ஆனால் அந்த மனிதர்கள் முன்னரே கூடிப் பேசிக்கொண்டபடி, அரசனிடம் வந்து, அவனை நோக்கி, “அரசரே! மேதியர், பாரசீகரின் சட்டப்படி, அரசன் விடுத்த தடையுத்தரவோ சட்டமோ மாற்றத்திற்கு அப்பாற்பட்டது என்பதைத் தெரிந்துகொள்ளும்” என்றனர்.

ஆகவே, அரசனுடைய கட்டளைப்படி தானியேல் கொண்டு வரப்பட்டுச் சிங்கக் குகையில் தள்ளப்பட்டார். அப்பொழுது அரசன் தானியேலை நோக்கி, “நீ இடைவிடாமல் வழிபடும் உன் கடவுள் உன்னை விடுவிப்பாராக!” என்றான். அவர்கள் ஒரு பெரிய கல்லைப் புரட்டிக் கொண்டுவந்து குகையின் வாயிலை அடைத்தார்கள்; தானியேலுக்குச் செய்யப்பட்டதில் யாதொன்றும் மாற்றப்படாதிருக்கும்படி அரசன் தன் மோதிரத்தாலும் தம் உயர்குடி மக்களின் மோதிரங்களாலும் அதற்கு முத்திரையிட்டான்.

பின்னர் அரசன் அரண்மனைக்குத் திரும்பிச்சென்று, அன்றிரவு முழுவதும் உணவு கொள்ளவில்லை; வேறு எந்தக் களியாட்டத்திலும் ஈடுபடவில்லை. உறக்கமும் அவனை விட்டு அகன்றது. பொழுது புலர்ந்தவுடன், அவன் எழுந்து சிங்கக் குகைக்கு விரைந்து சென்றான். தானியேல் இருந்த குகையருகில் வந்தவுடன் துயரக் குரலில் அவன் தானியேலை நோக்கி, “தானியேல்! என்றுமுள கடவுளின் ஊழியனே! நீ இடைவிடாமல் வழிபடும் உன் கடவுளால் உன்னைச் சிங்கங்களினின்று விடுவிக்க முடிந்ததா?” என்று உரக்கக் கேட்டான்.

அதற்குத் தானியேல் அரசனிடம், “அரசரே! நீர் நீடூழி வாழ்க! என் கடவுள் தம் தூதரை அனுப்பிச் சிங்கங்களின் வாய்களைக் கட்டிப் போட்டார். அவை எனக்குத் தீங்கு எதுவும் செய்யவில்லை; ஏனெனில் அவர் திருமுன் நான் மாசற்றவன். மேலும் அரசரே! உம் முன்னிலையிலும் நான் குற்றமற்றவனே” என்று மறுமொழி கொடுத்தார். எனவே, அரசன் மிகவும் மனம் மகிழ்ந்து, உடனே தானியேலைக் குகையிலிருந்து விடுவிக்குமாறு கட்டளையிட்டான். அவ்வாறே தானியேலைக் குகையிலிருந்து வெளியே தூக்கினார்கள். அவருக்கு யாதொரு தீங்கும் நேரிடவில்லை; ஏனெனில் அவர் தம் கடவுளை உறுதியாக நம்பினார். பிறகு அரசனது கட்டளைக்கிணங்க, தானியேலைக் குற்றம் சாட்டியவர்கள் இழுத்துக் கொண்டுவரப்பட்டனர். அவர்களும் அவர்களுடைய மனைவி, மக்களும் சிங்கக் குகையினுள் தள்ளப்பட்டார்கள். அவர்கள் குகையின் அடித்தளத்தை அடையும் முன்னே சிங்கங்கள் அவர்களைக் கவ்விப் பிடித்து, அவர்களுடைய எலும்புகளை எல்லாம் நொறுக்கிவிட்டன.

அப்பொழுது தாரியு அரசன் நாடெங்கும் வாழ்ந்துவந்த எல்லா இனத்தவருக்கும் நாட்டினருக்கும் மொழியினருக்கும் ஓர் அறிக்கை விடுத்தான். “உங்களுக்கு மிகுந்த சமாதானம் உண்டாவதாக! என் ஆட்சிக்குட்பட்ட நாடு முழுவதும் உள்ள மக்கள் தானியேலின் கடவுளுக்கு அஞ்சி நடுங்க வேண்டும். இது என் ஆணை. ஏனெனில், அவரே வாழும் கடவுள்; அவர் என்றென்றும் நிலைத்திருக்கின்றார்; அவரது ஆட்சி என்றும் அழிவற்றது; அவரது அரசுரிமைக்கு முடிவே இராது. தானியேலைச் சிங்கங்களின் பிடியினின்று காப்பாற்றியவர் அவரே; அவரே மீட்பவர்! விடுதலை அளிப்பவரும் அவரே! விண்ணிலும் மண்ணிலும் அரிய செயல்களையும் விந்தைகளையும் ஆற்றுபவர் அவரே!”

There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars.

Jesus said to his disciples, ‘When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, you must realise that she will soon be laid desolate. Then those in Judaea must escape to the mountains, those inside the city must leave it, and those in country districts must not take refuge in it. For this is the time of vengeance when all that scripture says must be fulfilled. Alas for those with child, or with babies at the breast, when those days come!

  ‘For great misery will descend on the land and wrath on this people. They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led captive to every pagan country; and Jerusalem will be trampled down by the pagans until the age of the pagans is completely over.

  ‘There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars; on earth nations in agony, bewildered by the clamour of the ocean and its waves; men dying of fear as they await what menaces the world, for the powers of heaven will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand erect, hold your heads high, because your liberation is near at hand.’

A Reading from the Book of Daniel 6: 12-28. 

The presidents and satraps came along in a body and found Daniel praying and pleading with God. They then came to the king and said, ‘Have you not just signed an edict forbidding any man for the next thirty days to pray to anyone, god or man, other than to yourself O king, on pain of being thrown into the lions’ den?’ ‘The decision stands,’ the king replied ‘as befits the law of the Medes and the Persians, which cannot be revoked.’ Then they said to the king, ‘O king, this man Daniel, one of the exiles from Judah, disregards both you and the edict which you have signed: he is at his prayers three times each day.’ When the king heard these words he was deeply distressed, and determined to save Daniel; he racked his brains until sunset to find some way out. But the men came back in a body to the king and said, ‘O king, remember that in conformity with the law of the Medes and the Persians, no edict or decree can be altered when once issued by the king.’

  The king then ordered Daniel to be fetched and thrown into the lion pit. The king said to Daniel, ‘Your God himself, whom you have served so faithfully, will have to save you.’ A stone was then brought and laid over the mouth of the pit; and the king sealed it with his own signet and with that of his noblemen, so that there could be no going back on the original decision about Daniel. The king returned to his palace, spent the night in fasting and refused to receive any of his concubines. Sleep eluded him, and at the first sign of dawn he was up, and hurried off to the lion pit. As he approached the pit he shouted in anguished tones, ‘Daniel, servant of the living God! Has your God, whom you serve so faithfully, been able to save you from the lions?’ Daniel replied, ‘O king, live for ever! My God sent his angel who sealed the lions’ jaws, they did me no harm, since in his sight I am blameless, and I have never done you any wrong either, O king.’ The king was overjoyed, and ordered Daniel to be released from the pit. Daniel was released from the pit, and found to be quite unhurt, because he had trusted in his God. The king sent for the men who had accused Daniel and had them thrown into the lion pit, they, their wives and their children: and they had not reached the floor of the pit before the lions had seized them and crushed their bones to pieces.

  King Darius then wrote to men of all nations, peoples and languages throughout the world, ‘May peace be always with you! I decree: in every kingdom of my empire let all tremble with fear before the God of Daniel:

‘He is the living God, he endures for ever,

his sovereignty will never be destroyed

and his kingship never end.

He saves, sets free, and works signs and wonders

in the heavens and on earth;

he has saved Daniel from the power of the lions.’
