அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு மக்கள் கூட்டத்தையும் தம் சீடரையும் பார்த்துக் கூறியது: “மறைநூல் அறிஞரும் பரிசேயரும் மோசேயின் அதிகாரத்தைக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றனர். ஆகவே அவர்கள் என்னென்ன செய்யும்படி உங்களிடம் கூறுகிறார்களோ அவற்றையெல்லாம் கடைப்பிடித்து நடந்து வாருங்கள். ஆனால் அவர்கள் செய்வதுபோல நீங்கள் செய்யாதீர்கள். ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் சொல்வார்கள்; செயலில் காட்டமாட்டார்கள். சுமத்தற்கரிய பளுவான சுமைகளைக் கட்டி மக்களின் தோளில் அவர்கள் வைக்கிறார்கள்; ஆனால் அவர்கள் தங்கள் விரலால் தொட்டு அசைக்கக்கூட முன்வரமாட்டார்கள்.

தாங்கள் செய்வதெல்லாம் மக்கள் பார்க்க வேண்டும் என்றே அவர்கள் செய்கிறார்கள்; தங்கள் மறைநூல் வாசகப்பட்டைகளை அகலமாக்குகிறார்கள்; அங்கியின் குஞ்சங்களைப் பெரிதாக்குகிறார்கள். விருந்துகளில் முதன்மையான இடங்களையும் தொழுகைக் கூடங்களில் முதன்மையான இருக்கைகளையும் விரும்புகின்றார்கள்; சந்தைவெளிகளில் மக்கள் தங்களுக்கு வணக்கம் செலுத்துவதையும் ரபி என அழைப்பதையும் விரும்புகிறார்கள்.

ஆனால் நீங்கள் ‘ரபி’ என அழைக்கப்பட வேண்டாம். ஏனெனில் உங்களுக்குப் போதகர் ஒருவரே. நீங்கள் யாவரும் சகோதரர் சகோதரிகள். இம்மண்ணுலகில் உள்ள எவரையும் தந்தை என நீங்கள் அழைக்க வேண்டாம். ஏனெனில் உங்கள் தந்தை ஒருவரே. அவர் விண்ணகத்தில் இருக்கிறார். நீங்கள் ஆசிரியர் எனவும் அழைக்கப்படவேண்டாம். ஏனெனில் கிறிஸ்து ஒருவரே உங்கள் ஆசிரியர்.

உங்களுள் பெரியவர் உங்களுக்குத் தொண்டராக இருக்க வேண்டும். தம்மைத் தாமே உயர்த்துகிறவர் எவரும் தாழ்த்தப்பெறுவர். தம்மைத் தாமே தாழ்த்துகிறவர் எவரும் உயர்த்தப்பெறுவர்.”

For they preach, but do not practise. They tie up heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to move them with their finger. They do all their deeds to be seen by others. For they make their phylacteries broad and their fringes long, and they love the place of honour at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues and greetings in the market-places and being called rabbi by others. But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brothers. And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven. Neither be called instructors, for you have one instructor, the Christ. The greatest among you shall be your servant. அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு பேதுருவையும் யாக்கோபையும் அவர் சகோதரரான யோவானையும் ஓர் உயர்ந்த மலைக்குத் தனிமையாகக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு போனார். அங்கே அவர்கள்முன் அவர் தோற்றம் மாறினார். அவரது முகம் கதிரவனைப் போல் ஒளிர்ந்தது. அவருடைய ஆடைகள் ஒளி போன்று வெண்மையாயின. இதோ! மோசேயும் எலியாவும் அவர்களுக்கு முன் தோன்றி இயேசுவோடு உரையாடிக்கொண்டிந்தனர். பேதுரு இயேசுவைப் பார்த்து, “ஆண்டவரே, நாம் இங்கேயே இருப்பது நல்லது. உமக்கு ஒன்றும் மோசேக்கு ஒன்றும் எலியாவுக்கு ஒன்றுமாக மூன்று கூடாரங்களை அமைக்கட்டுமா? இது உமக்கு விருப்பமா?” என்றார்.

அவர் தொடர்ந்து பேசிக்கொண்டிருந்தபோது ஒளிமயமான மேகம் ஒன்று அவர்கள்மேல் நிழலிட்டது. அந்த மேகத்தினின்று, “என் அன்பார்ந்த மைந்தர் இவரே. இவர் பொருட்டு நான் பூரிப்படைகிறேன். இவருக்குச் செவிசாயுங்கள்” என்று ஒரு குரல் ஒலித்தது. அதைக் கேட்டதும் சீடர்கள் மிகவும் அஞ்சி முகங்குப்புற விழுந்தார்கள். இயேசு அவர்களிடம் வந்து அவர்களைத் தொட்டு, “எழுந்திருங்கள், அஞ்சாதீர்கள்” என்றார். அவர்கள் நிமிர்ந்து பார்த்தபோது இயேசு ஒருவரைத் தவிர வேறு எவரையும் காணவில்லை.

அவர்கள் மலையிலிருந்து இறங்கிவந்தபோது இயேசு, “மானிடமகன் இறந்து உயிருடன் எழுப்பப்படும்வரை இக்காட்சியைப்பற்றி எவருக்கும் சொல்லக்கூடாது” என அவர்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டார்.

ஆண்டவரின் அருள்வாக்கு.

அன்பிற்குரியவரே,

கடவுளின் வல்லமைக்கேற்ப நற்செய்தியின் பொருட்டுத் துன்பத்தில் என்னுடன் பங்குகொள். அவர் நம் செயல்களை முன்னிட்டு அல்ல, காலங்களுக்கு முந்திய தமது தீர்மானத்தின்படி, கிறிஸ்து இயேசு வழியாக நமக்கு அளிக்கப்பட்ட அருளின்படி நம்மை மீட்டுள்ளார்; நமக்குத் தூய அழைப்பு விடுத்துள்ளார். நம் மீட்பராகிய கிறிஸ்து இயேசு உலகில் தோன்றியதன் மூலம் இப்போது அருள் வெளிப்பட்டுள்ளது. அவர் சாவை அழித்து, அழியா வாழ்வை நற்செய்தியின் வழியாக ஒளிரச் செய்தார்.
