அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு கலிலேயாவின் மறு கரையை அடைந்து கதரேனர் வாழ்ந்த பகுதிக்கு வந்தபோது, பேய் பிடித்த இருவர் கல்லறைகளிலிருந்து வெளியேறி அவருக்கு எதிரே வந்துகொண்டிருந்தனர். அவ்வழியே யாரும் போகமுடியாத அளவுக்கு அவர்கள் மிகவும் கொடியவர்களாய் இருந்தார்கள். அவர்கள், “இறைமகனே, உமக்கு இங்கு என்ன வேலை? குறித்த காலம் வருமுன்னே எங்களை வதைக்கவா இங்கே வந்தீர்?” என்று கத்தினார்கள்.

அவர்களிடமிருந்து சற்றுத் தொலையில் பன்றிகள் பெருங்கூட்டமாய் மேய்ந்துகொண்டிருந்தன. பேய்கள் அவரிடம், “நீர் எங்களை ஓட்டுவதாயிருந்தால் அப்பன்றிக் கூட்டத்திற்குள் எங்களை அனுப்பும்” என்று வேண்டின. அவர் அவற்றிடம், “போங்கள்” என்றார். அவை வெளியேறிப் பன்றிகளுக்குள் புகுந்தன. உடனே அக்கூட்டம் முழுவதும் செங்குத்துப் பாறையிலிருந்து கடலில் பாய்ந்து நீரில் வீழ்ந்து மடிந்தது.

பன்றிகளை மேய்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்தவர்கள் ஓடிப்போனார்கள். அவர்கள் நகருக்குள் சென்று, பேய் பிடித்தவர்களைப் பற்றிய செய்தியையும், நடந்த அனைத்தையுமே அறிவித்தார்கள். உடனே நகரினர் அனைவரும் இயேசுவுக்கு எதிர் கொண்டு வந்து, அவரைக் கண்டு, தங்கள் பகுதியை விட்டு அகலுமாறு வேண்டிக்கொண்டனர்.

நன்மையை நாடுங்கள், தீமையைத் தேடாதீர்கள்; அப்பொழுது நீங்கள் சொல்வது போல படைகளின் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவர் உங்களோடு இருப்பார். தீமையை வெறுத்து நன்மையை நாடுங்கள்; நகர் வாயிலில் நீதியை நிலைநாட்டுங்கள்; அப்பொழுது ஒருவேளை படைகளின் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவர் யோசேப்பின் வீட்டாரில் எஞ்சியிருப்போர்க்கு இரக்கம் காட்டுவார்.

At that time: When Jesus came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men met him, coming out of the tombs, so fierce that no one could pass that way. And behold, they cried out, “What have you to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?” Now a herd of many pigs was feeding at some distance from them. And the demons begged him, saying, “If you cast us out, send us away into the herd of pigs.” And he said to them, “Go.” So they came out and went into the pigs, and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned in the waters. The herdsmen fled, and going into the city they told everything, especially what had happened to the demon-possessed men. And behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus, and when they saw him, they begged him to leave their region.

Hate evil, and love good, and establish justice in the gate; it may be that the Lord, the God of hosts, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph. “I hate, I despise your feasts,” says the Lord, “and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies. இயேசு படகில் ஏறவே, அவருடைய சீடர்களும் அவரோடு ஏறினார்கள். திடீரெனக் கடலில் பெருங் கொந்தளிப்பு ஏற்பட்டது. படகுக்குமேல் அலைகள் எழுந்தன. ஆனால் இயேசு தூங்கிக் கொண்டிருந்தார். சீடர்கள் அவரிடம் வந்து, “ஆண்டவரே, காப்பாற்றும், சாகப் போகிறோம்” என்று சொல்லி அவரை எழுப்பினார்கள்.

இயேசு அவர்களை நோக்கி, “நம்பிக்கை குன்றியவர்களே, ஏன் அஞ்சுகிறீர்கள்?” என்று கேட்டு, எழுந்து காற்றையும் கடலையும் கடிந்து கொண்டார். உடனே மிகுந்த அமைதி உண்டாயிற்று.

மக்கள் எல்லாரும், “காற்றும் கடலும் இவருக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிகின்றனவே! இவர் எத்தகையவரோ?” என்று வியந்தனர்.

தங்களுக்குள் உடன்பாடு இல்லாமல் இருவர் சேர்ந்து நடப்பார்களோ? இரை அகப்படாமல் இருக்கும்போது காட்டில் சிங்கம் கர்ச்சிக்குமோ? ஒன்றையும் பிடிக்காமல் இருக்கையிலேயே குகையிலிருந்து இளஞ்சிங்கம் முழக்கம் செய்யுமோ? வேடன் தரையில் வலைவிரிக்காதிருக்கும்போதே பறவை கண்ணியில் சிக்கிக் கொள்வதுண்டோ? ஒன்றுமே சிக்காதிருக்கும் போது பொறி தரையைவிட்டுத் துள்ளுவதுண்டோ? நகரில் எக்காளம் ஊதப்படுமானால், மக்கள் அஞ்சி நடுங்காமல் இருப்பார்களோ?ஆண்டவர் அனுப்பவில்லையெனில், நகருக்குத் தீமை தானாக வந்திடுமோ? தம் ஊழியர்களாகிய இறைவாக்கினர்களுக்குத் தம் மறைபொருளை வெளிப்படுத்தாமல், தலைவராகிய ஆண்டவர் ஏதும் செய்வதில்லை. சிங்கம் கர்ச்சனை செய்கின்றது; அஞ்சி நடுங்காதவர் எவர்? தலைவராகிய ஆண்டவர் பேசியிருக்க, இறைவாக்கு உரைக்காதவர் எவர்?

சோதோம், கொமோராவின் மக்களைக் கடவுள் அழித்தது போல உங்களுள் சிலரை அழித்தேன். நீங்களோ, நெருப்பிலிருந்து இழுக்கப்பட்ட கொள்ளிக் கட்டைபோல் ஆனீர்கள்; ஆயினும் நீங்கள் என் பக்கம் திரும்பவில்லை” என்கிறார் ஆண்டவர். “ஆகையால், இஸ்ரயேலே! உனக்கும் இவ்வாறே செய்வேன். இஸ்ரயேலே! இப்படி நான் செய்யப் போவதால் உன் கடவுளைச் சந்திக்கத் தயாராயிரு!”

At that time: When Jesus got into the boat, his disciples followed him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. And the men marvelled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?”

A Reading from the Book of the Prophet Amos 3:1-8; 4:11-12

Hear this word that the Lord has spoken against you, O people of Israel, against the whole family that I brought up out of the land of Egypt: “You only have I known of all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities. “Do two walk together, unless they have agreed to meet? Does a lion roar in the forest, when he has no prey? Does a young lion cry out from his den, if he has taken nothing? Does a bird fall in a snare on the earth, when there is no trap for it? Does a snare spring up from the ground, when it has taken nothing? Is a trumpet blown in a city, and the people are not afraid? Does disaster come to a city, unless the Lord has done it? “For the Lord God does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets. The lion has roared; who will not fear? இயேசு, பிலிப்புச் செசரியா பகுதிக்குச் சென்றார். அவர் தம் சீடரை நோக்கி, “மானிடமகன் யாரென்று மக்கள் சொல்கிறார்கள்?” என்று கேட்டார். அதற்கு அவர்கள், “சிலர் திருமுழுக்கு யோவான் எனவும் வேறு சிலர் எலியா எனவும் மற்றும் சிலர் எரேமியா அல்லது பிற இறைவாக்கினருள் ஒருவர் என்றும் சொல்கின்றனர்” என்றார்கள். “ஆனால் நீங்கள், நான் யார் எனச் சொல்கிறீர்கள்?” என்று அவர் கேட்டார்.

சீமோன் பேதுரு மறுமொழியாக, “நீர் மெசியா, வாழும் கடவுளின் மகன்” என்று உரைத்தார்.

அதற்கு இயேசு, “யோனாவின் மகனான சீமோனே, நீ பேறுபெற்றவன். ஏனெனில் எந்த மனிதரும் இதை உனக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தவில்லை; மாறாக விண்ணகத்திலுள்ள என் தந்தையே வெளிப்படுத்தியுள்ளார். எனவே நான் உனக்குக் கூறுகிறேன்: உன் பெயர் பேதுரு; இந்தப் பாறையின் மேல் என் திருச்சபையைக் கட்டுவேன். பாதாளத்தின் வாயில்கள் அதன் மேல் வெற்றி கொள்ளா. விண்ணரசின் திறவுகோல்களை நான் உன்னிடம் தருவேன். மண்ணுலகில் நீ தடைசெய்வது விண்ணுலகிலும் தடை செய்யப்படும். மண்ணுலகில் நீ அனுமதிப்பது விண்ணுலகிலும் அனுமதிக்கப்படும்” என்றார்.

ஆண்டவரின் அருள்வாக்கு.

ஜூன் 29 : இரண்டாம் வாசகம் இனி எனக்கென வைக்கப்பட்டிருப்பது நேரிய வாழ்வுக்கான வெற்றி வாகையே. திருத்தூதர் பவுல் திமொத்தேயுவுக்கு எழுதிய இரண்டாம் திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 4: 6-8, 17-18

அன்பிற்குரியவரே,

நான் இப்போதே என்னைப் பலியாகப் படைக்கிறேன். நான் பிரிந்து செல்லவேண்டிய நேரம் வந்துவிட்டது. நான் நல்லதொரு போராட்டத்தில் ஈடுபட்டேன். என் ஓட்டத்தை முடித்துவிட்டேன். விசுவாசத்தைக் காத்துக்கொண்டேன். இனி எனக்கென வைக்கப்பட்டிருப்பது நேரிய வாழ்வுக்கான வெற்றி வாகையே. அதை இறுதி நாளில் ஆண்டவர் எனக்குத் தருவார்; நீதியான அந்த நடுவர் எனக்கு மட்டுமல்ல, அவர் தோன்றுவார் என விரும்பிக் காத்திருக்கும் அனைவருக்குமே தருவார்.

ஏரோதின் கையிலிருந்து ஆண்டவர் என்னை விடுவித்துக் காத்தார் என்று நான் உண்மையாகவே அறிந்துகொண்டேன்

திருத்தூதர் பணிகள் நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 12: 1-11

அந்நாள்களில்

ஏரோது அரசன், திருச்சபையைச் சார்ந்த மக்கள் சிலரைப் பிடித்துக் கொடுமைப்படுத்தினான். யோவானின் சகோதரரான யாக்கோபை வாளால் கொன்றான். அது யூதருக்கு மகிழ்ச்சி அளித்ததைக் கண்டு அவன் தொடர்ந்து பேதுருவையும் கைது செய்தான். அது புளிப்பற்ற அப்ப விழா நாள்களில் நடந்தது. அவரைப் பிடித்துச் சிறையில் அடைத்துக் காவல் செய்யுமாறு நான்கு படைவீரர் கொண்ட நான்கு குழுக்களிடம் அவன் ஒப்புவித்தான். பாஸ்கா விழாவுக்குப் பின் மக்கள் முன்பாக அவரது வழக்கை விசாரிக்கலாம் என விரும்பினான். பேதுரு இவ்வாறு சிறையில் காவலில் வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த போது திருச்சபை அவருக்காகக் கடவுளிடம் உருக்கமாக வேண்டியது.

ஏரோது அவரது வழக்கைக் கேட்பதற்கு முந்தின இரவில், பேதுரு படைவீரர் இருவருக்கு இடையே இரு சங்கிலிகளால் கட்டப்பட்டுத் தூங்கிக்கொண்டிருந்தார். காவலர்கள் வாயிலுக்கு முன் சிறையைக் காவல் செய்து கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

அப்போது ஆண்டவரின் தூதர் அங்கு வந்து நின்றார். அறை ஒளிமயமாகியது. அவர் பேதுருவைத் தட்டியெழுப்பி, “உடனே எழுந்திடும்” என்று கூற, சங்கிலிகள் அவர் கைகளிலிருந்து கீழே விழுந்தன.

வானதூதர் அவரிடம், “இடைக் கச்சையைக் கட்டி மிதியடிகளைப் போட்டுக்கொள்ளும்” என்றார். அவரும் அவ்வாறே செய்தார். தூதர் அவரிடம், “உமது மேலுடையை அணிந்துகொண்டு என்னைப் பின்தொடரும்” என்றார். பேதுரு வானதூதரைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து சென்றார். தூதர் மூலமாக நடந்தவையெல்லாம் உண்மையென்று அவர் உணரவில்லை. ஏதோ காட்சி காண்பதாக அவர் நினைத்துக்கொண்டார். அவர்கள் முதலாம் காவல் நிலையையும், இரண்டாம் காவல் நிலையையும் கடந்து நகருக்குச் செல்லும் இரும்புவாயில் அருகே வந்தபோது அது அவர்களுக்குத் தானாகவே திறந்தது. அவர்கள் வெளியே வந்து ஒரு சந்து வழியாகச் சென்றார்கள். உடனே வானதூதர் அவரை விட்டு அகன்றார்.

பேதுரு தன்னுணர்வு பெற்றபோது, “ஆண்டவர் தம் வானதூதரை அனுப்பி ஏரோதின் கையிலிருந்து என்னை விடுவித்து, யூத மக்கள் எதிர்பார்த்த எதுவும் நிகழாதவாறு என்னைக் காத்தார் என்று நான் உண்மையாகவே அறிந்துகொண்டேன்” என்றார்.

At that time: When Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Beloved: I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing. But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. So I was rescued from the lion’s mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory for ever and ever. Amen.

A Reading from the Acts of Apostles 12: 1-11

In those days: Herod the king laid violent hands on some who belonged to the church. He killed James the brother of John with the sword, and when he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter also. This was during the days of Unleavened Bread. And when he had seized him, he put him in prison, delivering him over to four squads of soldiers to guard him, intending after the Passover to bring him out to the people. So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church. Now when Herod was about to bring him out, on that very night, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries before the door were guarding the prison. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood next to him, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him, saying, “Get up quickly.” And the chains fell off his hands. And the angel said to him, “Dress yourself and put on your sandals.” And he did so. And he said to him, “Wrap your cloak round you and follow me.” And he went out and followed him. He did not know that what was being done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision. When they had passed the first and the second guard, they came to the iron gate leading into the city. It opened for them of its own accord, and they went out and went along one street, and immediately the angel left him. When Peter came to himself, he said, “Now I am sure that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from the hand of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting.”

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு தம் சீடர்களை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: “என்னைவிடத் தம் தந்தையிடமோ தாயிடமோ மிகுந்த அன்பு கொண்டுள்ளோர் என்னுடையோர் எனக் கருதப்படத் தகுதியற்றோர். என்னைவிடத் தம் மகனிடமோ மகளிடமோ மிகுதியாய் அன்பு கொண்டுள்ளோரும் என்னுடையோர் எனக் கருதப்படத் தகுதியற்றோர். தம் சிலுவையைச் சுமக்காமல் என்னைப் பின்பற்றி வருவோர் என்னுடையோர் எனக் கருதப்படத் தகுதியற்றோர். தம் உயிரைக் காக்க விரும்புவோர் அதை இழந்து விடுவர். என் பொருட்டுத் தம் உயிரை இழப்போரோ அதைக் காத்துக் கொள்வர்.

“உங்களை ஏற்றுக்கொள்பவர் என்னை ஏற்றுக்கொள்கிறார். என்னை ஏற்றுக்கொள்பவரோ என்னை அனுப்பினவரையே ஏற்றுக்கொள்கிறார். இறைவாக்கினர் ஒருவரை அவர் இறைவாக்கினர் என்பதால் ஏற்றுக்கொள்பவர் இறைவாக்கினருக்குரிய கைம்மாறு பெறுவார். நேர்மையாளர் ஒருவரை அவர் நேர்மையாளர் என்பதால் ஏற்றுக்கொள்பவர் நேர்மையாளருக்குரிய கைம்மாறு பெறுவார்.

இச்சிறியோருள் ஒருவருக்கு அவர் என் சீடர் என்பதால் ஒரு கிண்ணம் குளிர்ந்த நீராவது கொடுப்பவரும் தம் கைம்மாறு பெறாமல் போகார் என உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்.”

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

திருமுழுக்கினால் கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவோடு இணைந்திருக்கும் நாம் அனைவரும் அவருடைய சாவிலும் அவரோடு இணைந்திருக்கிறோம் என்பது உங்களுக்குத் தெரியாதா? இறந்த கிறிஸ்துவை மாட்சிமிகு தந்தை உயிர்த்தெழச் செய்தார். அவ்வாறு நாமும் புதுவாழ்வு பெற்றவர்களாய் வாழும்படி திருமுழுக்கின் வழியாய் அவரோடு அடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டோம்.

கிறிஸ்துவோடு நாம் இறந்தோமாயின், அவரோடு வாழ்வோம் என்பதே நாம் கொண்டுள்ள நம்பிக்கை. இறந்து உயிருடன் எழுப்பப்பட்ட கிறிஸ்து இனிமேல் இறக்க மாட்டார்; இனி அவர் சாவின் ஆட்சிக்கு உட்பட்டவர் அல்ல என நாம் அறிந்திருக்கிறோம். அவர் இறந்தார்; பாவத்தை ஒழிக்க ஒரே ஒரு முறை இறந்தார். இப்போது அவர் வாழ்கிறார்; அவர் கடவுளுக்காகவே வாழ்கிறார்.

அவ்வாறே, நீங்களும் பாவ வாழ்க்கையைப் பொறுத்தமட்டில் இறந்தவர்கள்; கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவோடு இணைந்து கடவுளுக்காக வாழ்கிறவர்கள் என்பதை எண்ணிக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.
