இந்நிகழ்ச்சிகளை எல்லாம் தமது உள்ளத்தில் பதித்து வைத்திருந்தார்.

✠ லூக்கா எழுதிய தூய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 2: 41-51

ஆண்டுதோறும் இயேசுவின் பெற்றோர் பாஸ்கா விழாவைக் கொண்டாட எருசலேமுக்குப் போவார்கள்; இயேசுவுக்குப் பன்னிரண்டு வயது ஆனபோது, வழக்கப்படி விழாவைக் கொண்டாட எருசலேம் சென்றனர். விழா நாள்கள் முடிந்து அவர்கள் திரும்பியபோது, சிறுவன் இயேசு எருசலேமில் தங்கிவிட்டார். இது அவருடைய பெற்றோருக்குத் தெரியாது; பயணிகள் கூட்டத்தில் அவர் இருப்பார் என்று எண்ணினர். ஒருநாள் பயணம் முடிந்தபின்பு உறவினரிடையேயும் அறிமுகமானவர்களிடையேயும் அவரைத் தேடினர்; அவரைக் காணாததால் அவரைத் தேடிக்கொண்டு எருசலேமுக்குத் திரும்பிச் சென்றார்கள்.

மூன்று நாள்களுக்குப்பின் அவரைக் கோவிலில் கண்டார்கள். அங்கே அவர் போதகர்கள் நடுவில் அமர்ந்து அவர்கள் சொல்வதைக் கேட்டுக் கொண்டும் அவர்களிடம் கேள்விகளை எழுப்பிக் கொண்டுமிருந்தார். அவற்றைக் கேட்ட அனைவரும் அவருடைய புரிந்து கொள்ளும் திறனையும் அவர் அளித்த பதில்களையும் கண்டு மலைத்துப் போயினர். அவருடைய பெற்றோரும் அவரைக் கண்டு வியப்பில் ஆழ்ந்தனர். அப்பொழுது அவருடைய தாய் அவரை நோக்கி, “மகனே, ஏன் இப்படிச் செய்தாய்? இதோ பார், உன் தந்தையும் நானும் உன்னை மிகுந்த கவலையோடு தேடிக்கொண்டிருந்தோமே” என்றார். அவர் அவர்களிடம் “நீங்கள் ஏன் என்னைத் தேடினீர்கள்? நான் என் தந்தையின் அலுவல்களில் ஈடுபட்டிருக்க வேண்டும் என்பது உங்களுக்குத் தெரியாதா?” என்றார். அவர் சொன்னதை அவர்கள் புரிந்து கொள்ளவில்லை.

பின்பு அவர் அவர்களுடன் சென்று நாசரேத்தை அடைந்து அவர்களுக்குப் பணிந்து நடந்தார். அவருடைய தாய் இந்நிகழ்ச்சிகளையெல்லாம் தமது உள்ளத்தில் பதித்து வைத்திருந்தார்.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Luke 2: 41-51

The parents of Jesus went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. And when he was twelve years old, they went up according to custom. And when the feast was ended, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it, but supposing him to be in the group they went a day’s journey, but then they began to search for him among their relatives and acquaintances, and when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, searching for him. After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions; and all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. And when his parents saw him, they were astonished. And his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been searching for you in great distress.” And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” And they did not understand the saying that he spoke to them. And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was submissive to them. And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart.

A Reading from the book of the Prophet Isaiah 61: 9-11

The offspring [of my people] shall be known among the nations, and their descendants in the midst of the peoples; all who see them shall acknowledge them, that they are an offspring the Lord has blessed. I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to sprout up, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to sprout up before all the nations.
