They seized the beloved son, killed him and threw him out of the vineyard

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Mark 12: 1-12 

At that time: Jesus began to speak to the chief priests and the scribes and the elders in parables. “A man planted a vineyard and put a fence around it and dug a pit for the wine press and built a tower, and leased it to tenants and went into another country. When the season came, he sent a servant to the tenants to get from them some of the fruit of the vineyard. And they took him and beat him and sent him away empty-handed. Again he sent to them another servant, and they struck him on the head and treated him shamefully. And he sent another, and him they killed. And so with many others: some they beat, and some they killed. He had still one other, a beloved son. Finally he sent him to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ But those tenants said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’ And they took him and killed him and threw him out of the vineyard. What will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the tenants and give the vineyard to others. Have you not read this Scripture: “‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes’?” And they were seeking to arrest him but feared the people, for they perceived that he had told the parable against them. So they left him and went away.

A Reading from the Second letter of St.Peter 1:2-7

Beloved: May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.

அன்பு மகனைப் பிடித்துக் கொன்று, திராட்சைத் தோட்டத்திற்கு வெளியே எறிந்துவிட்டார்கள்.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு உவமைகள் வாயிலாகப் பேசத் தொடங்கினார்: “ஒருவர் ஒரு திராட்சைத் தோட்டம் போட்டுச் சுற்றிலும் வேலியடைத்து, பிழிவுக்குழி வெட்டி, ஒரு காவல் மாடமும் கட்டினார். பிறகு தோட்டத் தொழிலாளர்களிடம் அதைக் குத்தகைக்கு விட்டுவிட்டு நெடும் பயணம் மேற்கொண்டார்.

பருவ காலம் வந்ததும் அத்தோட்டத் தொழிலாளர்களிடமிருந்து திராட்சைப் பழங்களைப் பெற்று வருமாறு ஒரு பணியாளரை அவர் அனுப்பினார். ஆனால் அவர்கள் அவரைப் பிடித்து நையப்புடைத்து வெறுங்கையராய் அனுப்பினார்கள். மீண்டும் அவர் வேறொரு பணியாளரை அவர்களிடம் அனுப்ப, அவரையும் அவர்கள் தலையில் அடித்து அவமதித்தார்கள். அவர் மேலும் ஒருவரை அனுப்ப, அவரையும் கொலை செய்தார்கள்; அவர் வேறு பலரையும் அனுப்பினார். அவர்களுள் சிலரை நையப்புடைத்தார்கள்; சிலரைக் கொன்றார்கள்.

இன்னும் எஞ்சியிருந்தவர் ஒருவரே. அவர் அவருடைய அன்பு மகன். தம் மகனை அவர்கள் மதிப்பார்கள் என்று அவர் நினைத்துக்கொண்டு இறுதியாக அவரை அவர்களிடம் அனுப்பினார். அப்பொழுது அத்தோட்டத் தொழிலாளர்கள், ‘இவன்தான் சொத்துக்கு உரியவன்; வாருங்கள் நாம் இவனைக் கொன்றுபோடுவோம். அப்போது சொத்து நமக்கு உரியதாகும்’ என்று தங்களிடையே பேசிக் கொண்டார்கள். அவ்வாறே அவரைப் பிடித்துக் கொன்று திராட்சைத் தோட்டத்திற்கு வெளியே எறிந்துவிட்டார்கள்.

திராட்சைத் தோட்ட உரிமையாளர் என்ன செய்வார்? அவர் வந்து அத்தொழிலாளர்களை ஒழித்துவிட்டுத் திராட்சைத் தோட்டத்தை வேறு ஆள்களிடம் ஒப்படைப்பார்.

‘கட்டுவோர் புறக்கணித்த கல்லே கட்டடத்துக்கு மூலைக்கல் ஆயிற்று. ஆண்டவரால் நிகழ்ந்துள்ள இது நம் கண்களுக்கு வியப்பாயிற்று’ என்னும் மறைநூல் வாக்கை நீங்கள் வாசித்தது இல்லையா?” என்று அவர் கேட்டார்.

தங்களைக் குறித்தே அவர் இந்த உவமையைச் சொன்னார் என்பதை அவர்கள் உணர்ந்துகொண்டு அவரைப் பிடிக்க வழி தேடினார்கள்; ஆனால் மக்கள் கூட்டத்துக்கு அஞ்சினார்கள்; ஆகவே அவரை விட்டு அகன்றார்கள்.

கிறிஸ்துவே நம்பிக்கைக்குரிய சாட்சி; இறந்தோருள் முதலில் உயிர்பெற்று எழுந்தவர்; மண்ணுலக அரசர்களுக்குத் தலைவர். இவர் நம்மீது அன்புகூர்ந்தார்; தமது சாவு வாயிலாக நம் பாவங்களிலிருந்து நம்மை விடுவித்தார். அல்லேலூயா.

இறைப்பற்றுடன் வாழத் தேவையான எல்லாவற்றையும் நமக்கு அருளியுள்ளார்.

திருத்தூதர் பேதுரு எழுதிய இரண்டாம் திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 1: 1-7

நம் கடவுளும் மீட்பருமாகிய இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவினால் விளைந்த ஏற்புடைமையின் அடிப்படையில் எங்களைப் போன்ற மதிப்புயர்ந்த நம்பிக்கையைப் பெற்றுள்ளோருக்கு, இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் பணியாளனும் திருத்தூதனுமான சீமோன் பேதுரு எழுதுவது: கடவுளையும் நமது ஆண்டவராகிய இயேசுவையும் நீங்கள் அறிவதன் வாயிலாக உங்களுக்கு அருளும் நலமும் பெருகுக!

தம்முடைய மாட்சியாலும் ஆற்றலாலும் கடவுள் நம்மை அழைத்துள்ளார். அவரை அறிந்துகொள்வதன் மூலம் இறைப் பற்றுடன் வாழ்க்கை நடத்துவதற்குத் தேவையான எல்லாவற்றையும் அவர் தம் இறை வல்லமையால் நமக்கு அருளியுள்ளார். தீய நாட்டத்தால் சீரழிந்துள்ள உலகை விட்டு விலகியோடி இறைத் தன்மையில் பங்கு பெறுங்கள்.

இதற்கென்றே கடவுள் நமக்கு உயர் மதிப்புக்குரிய மேலான வாக்குறுதிகளை அளித்துள்ளார். ஆகையால் நீங்கள் உங்கள் நம்பிக்கையோடு நற்பண்பும், நற்பண்போடு அறிவும், அறிவோடு தன்னடக்கமும், தன்னடக்கத்தோடு மன உறுதியும், மன உறுதியோடு இறைப் பற்றும், இறைப் பற்றோடு சகோதர நேயமும், சகோதர நேயத்தோடு அன்பும் கொண்டு விளங்குமாறு முழு ஆர்வத்தோடு முயற்சி செய்யுங்கள்.
