அமைதியை அல்ல, வாளையே கொணர வந்தேன்.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு தம் சீடர்களை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: “நான் உலகிற்கு அமைதி கொணர வந்தேன் என எண்ண வேண்டாம். அமைதியை அல்ல, வாளையே கொணர வந்தேன். தந்தைக்கு எதிராக மகனையும் தாய்க்கு எதிராக மகளையும் மாமியாருக்கு எதிராக மருமகளையும் நான் பிரிக்க வந்தேன். ஒருவருடைய பகைவர் அவரது வீட்டில் உள்ளவரே ஆவர்.

என்னை விடத் தம் தந்தையிடமோ தாயிடமோ மிகுந்த அன்பு கொண்டுள்ளோர் என்னுடையோர் எனக் கருதப்படத் தகுதியற்றோர். என்னை விடத் தம் மகனிடமோ மகளிடமோ மிகுதியாய் அன்பு கொண்டுள்ளோரும் என்னுடையோர் எனக் கருதப்படத் தகுதியற்றோர். தம் சிலுவையைச் சுமக்காமல் என்னைப் பின்பற்றி வருவோர் என்னுடையோர் எனக் கருதப்படத் தகுதியற்றோர். தம் உயிரைக் காக்க விரும்புவோர் அதை இழந்துவிடுவர். என் பொருட்டுத் தம் உயிரை இழப்போரோ அதைக் காத்துக் கொள்வர்.

உங்களை ஏற்றுக்கொள்பவர் என்னை ஏற்றுக்கொள்கிறார். என்னை ஏற்றுக்கொள்பவரோ என்னை அனுப்பினவரையே ஏற்றுக்கொள்கிறார். இறைவாக்கினர் ஒருவரை அவர் இறைவாக்கினர் என்பதால் ஏற்றுக்கொள்பவர் இறைவாக்கினருக்குரிய கைம்மாறு பெறுவார். நேர்மையாளர் ஒருவரை அவர் நேர்மையாளர் என்பதால் ஏற்றுக்கொள்பவர் நேர்மையாளருக்குரிய கைம்மாறு பெறுவார்.

இச்சிறியோருள் ஒருவருக்கு அவர் என் சீடர் என்பதால் ஒரு கிண்ணம் குளிர்ந்த நீராவது கொடுப்பவரும் தம் கைம்மாறு பெறாமல் போகார் என உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்."

இயேசு தம் பன்னிரு சீடருக்கும் அறிவுரை கொடுத்து முடித்ததும் பக்கத்து ஊர்களில் கற்பிக்கவும் நற்செய்தியை அறிவிக்கவும் அவ்விடம் விட்டு அகன்றார்.

இவ்வாறெல்லாம் நீங்கள் செய்தும், நான் மௌனமாய் இருந்தேன்; நானும் உங்களைப் போன்றவர் என எண்ணிக் கொண்டீர்கள்; ஆனால், இப்பொழுது உங்களைக் கண்டிக்கின்றேன்; உங்கள் குற்றங்களை உங்கள் கண்முன் ஒவ்வொன்றாய் எடுத்துரைக்கின்றேன்.

இறைவாக்கினர் எசாயா நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 1: 11-17

“எண்ணற்ற உங்கள் பலிகள் எனக்கு எதற்கு?” என்கிறார் ஆண்டவர். “ஆட்டுக்கிடாய்களின் எரிபலிகளும், கொழுத்த விலங்குகளின் கொழுப்பும் எனக்குப் போதுமென்றாகிவிட்டன: காளைகள், ஆட்டுக் குட்டிகள், வெள்ளாட்டுக் கிடாய்கள் இவற்றின் இரத்தத்திலும் எனக்கு நாட்டமில்லை. நீங்கள் என்னை வழிபட என் திருமுன் வரும்போது, இவற்றை எல்லாம் கொண்டு வந்து என் கோவில் முற்றத்தை மிதிக்க வேண்டும் என்று கேட்டது யார்?

It is not peace I have come to bring, but a sword

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Matthew 10: 34-11:1 

At that time: Jesus said to his disciples, “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household. Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. “Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. The one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and the one who receives a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward. And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward. When Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in their cities.

A Reading from the Book of the Prophet Isaiah 1: 10-17 

Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom! Give ear to the teaching of our God, you people of Gomorrah! “What to me is the multitude of your sacrifices? says the Lord; I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of well-fed beasts; I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of goats. When you come to appear before me, who has required of you this trampling of my courts? Bring no more vain offerings; incense is an abomination to me. New moon and Sabbath and the calling of convocations— I cannot endure iniquity and solemn assembly. Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hates; they have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them. When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will not listen; your hands are full of blood. Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.”
