உன்னை உருவாக்கியவரே உன் கணவர், ‘படைகளின் ஆண்டவர்’ என்பது அவர்தம் பெயராம். இஸ்ரயேலின் தூயவரே உன் மீட்பர்; ‘உலக முழுமைக்கும் கடவுள்’ என அவர் அழைக்கப்படுகின்றார். ஏனெனில், கைவிடப்பட்டு மனமுடைந்துபோன துணைவிபோலும், தள்ளப்பட்ட இளம் மனைவி போலும் இருக்கும் உன்னை ஆண்டவர் அழைத்துள்ளார், என்கிறார் உன் கடவுள். நொடிப்பொழுதே நான் உன்னைக் கைவிட்டேன்; ஆயினும் பேரிரக்கத்தால் உன்னை மீண்டும் ஏற்றுக்கொள்வேன். பொங்கியெழும் சீற்றத்தால் இமைப்பொழுதே என் முகத்தை உனக்கு மறைத்தேன்; ஆயினும் என்றும் உள்ள பேரன்பால் உனக்கு இரக்கம் காட்டுவேன், என்கிறார் ஆண்டவர்.

அந்நாள்களில்
ஆண்டவர் மோசேயை நோக்கி, “ஏன் என்னை நோக்கி அழவேண்டும்? முன்னோக்கிச் செல்லும்படி இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களிடம் சொல். கோலை உயர்த்திப் பிடித்தவாறு உன் கையைக் கடல்மேல் நீட்டி அதனைப் பிரித்துவிடு. இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் கடல் நடுவே உலர்ந்த தரையில் நடந்து செல்வார்கள். நான் எகிப்தியரின் மனத்தைக் கடினப்படுத்துவேன். அவர்கள் இஸ்ரயேலரைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து செல்வார்கள். அப்போது பார்வோனையும் அவனுடைய படைகள், தேர்கள், குதிரை வீரர்கள் அனைவரையும் வென்று நான் மாட்சியுறுவேன். பார்வோனையும் அவன் தேர்களையும் குதிரை வீரர்கள் அனைவரையும் வென்று நான் மாட்சியுறும்போது, ‘நானே ஆண்டவர்’ என்று எகிப்தியர் உணர்ந்து கொள்வர்” என்றார்.
இஸ்ரயேல் அணிவகுப்புக்கு முன் சென்றுகொண்டிருந்த இறைத்தூதர் அவர்களுக்குப் பின் வந்து நின்றார். மேகத்தூணும் இடம்பெயர்ந்து முன் பக்கத்திலிருந்து அவர்களுக்குப் பின்பக்கம் வந்து நின்றுகொண்டது. அது எகிப்தியரின் அணிவகுப்புக்கும் இஸ்ரயேலரின் அணிவகுப்புக்கும் இடையே சென்றுகொண்டிருந்தது. அந்த மேகம் எகிப்தியருக்கு இருளாகவும் இஸ்ரயேலருக்கு இரவில் ஒளியாகவும் அமைந்தது; இதனால் இரவில் எந்நேரத்திலும் அவர்கள் இவர்களை நெருங்கவில்லை.
மோசே தம் கையைக் கடல்மேல் நீட்டவே, ஆண்டவர் கீழைக் காற்றை இரவு முழுவதும் வன்மையாக வீசச்செய்து கடலைப் பின்வாங்க வைத்து உலர்ந்த தரையாக்கினார். நீர்த்திரள் பிரிக்கப்பட்டது. வலப்பக்கத்திலும் இடப்பக்கத்திலும் உள்ள நீர்த்திரள் அவர்களுக்குச் சுவராக விளங்க, இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் கடல் நடுவே உலர்ந்த தரையில் நடந்து சென்றனர். எகிப்தியர் அவர்களைத் துரத்திச் சென்றனர். பார்வோனின் குதிரைகள், தேர்கள், குதிரை வீரர்கள் அனைவரும் அவர்களுக்குப் பின்னால் நடுக்கடல் வரை சென்றனர். பொழுது புலரும் முன், நெருப்பும் மேகமுமான தூணிலிருந்து ஆண்டவர் எகிப்தியரின் அணிவகுப்புகளைப் பார்த்து அந்த எகிப்திய அணிவகுப்புகளை நிலைகுலையச் செய்தார். அவர்களுடைய தேர்களின் சக்கரங்களை அவர் புதைந்து போகச் செய்ததால், தேரோட்டுவது அவர்களுக்குக் கடினமாயிற்று. அப்போது எகிப்தியர், “இஸ்ரயேலரிடமிருந்து நாம் ஓடிச் சென்றுவிடுவோம். ஏனெனில், ஆண்டவர் தாமே அவர்கள் சார்பாக நின்று எகிப்தியராகிய நமக்கு எதிராகப் போரிடுகிறார்” என்றனர்.
ஆண்டவர் மோசேயை நோக்கி, “நீர்த்திரள் எகிப்தியர் மேலும் அவர்கள் தேர்கள், குதிரை வீரர் அனைவர் மேலும் திரும்பி வரச் செய்வதற்காக உன் கையைக் கடல்மேல் நீட்டு” என்றார். மோசே தம் கையைக் கடல்மேல் நீட்டவே, காலையில் விடியும் நேரத்தில் கடல் தன் முன்னைய நிலைக்குத் திரும்பி வந்தது. அதற்கு எதிர்ப்பட அஞ்சி, எகிப்தியர்கள் விரைந்தோடுகையில் ஆண்டவர் எகிப்தியரை நடுக்கடலில் அமிழ்த்தினார். திரும்பி வந்த நீர்த்திரள் தேர்கள், குதிரை வீரர்கள் மற்றும் கடலுக்குள் துரத்திச் சென்ற பார்வோனின் படைகள் அனைவரையும் மூடிக்கொண்டது. அவர்களில் ஒருவன்கூடத் தப்பவில்லை. ஆனால் இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் கடலின் உலர்ந்த தரையில் நடந்து சென்றனர். நீர்த்திரள் வலப்புறமும் இடப்புறமும் அவர்களுக்குச் சுவராக நின்றது.
இவ்வாறு ஆண்டவர் அந்நாளில் எகிப்தியர் பிடியினின்று இஸ்ரயேலருக்கு விடுதலை அளித்தார்.
கடற்கரையில் எகிப்தியர் செத்துக் கிடப்பதை இஸ்ரயேலர் கண்டனர். எகிப்தியருக்கு எதிராக ஆண்டவர் கைவன்மை காட்டிச் செயல் புரிந்ததை உணர்ந்து ஆண்டவர்மீது மக்கள் அச்சம் கொண்டனர். மேலும் அவர்கள் ஆண்டவரிடமும் அவர் அடியார் மோசேயிடமும் நம்பிக்கை வைத்தனர்.

தொடக்க நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 22: 1-18
கடவுள் ஆபிரகாமைச் சோதித்தார். அவர் அவரை நோக்கி, ஆபிரகாம்! என, அவரும் ‘இதோ! அடியேன்’ என்றார். அவர், “உன் மகனை, நீ அன்புகூரும் உன் ஒரே மகனான ஈசாக்கை அழைத்துக்கொண்டு, மோரியா நிலப்பகுதிக்குச் செல். அங்கு நான் உனக்குக் காட்டும் மலைகளில் ஒன்றின் மேல் எரி பலியாக அவனை நீ பலியிட வேண்டும்” என்றார்.
அவ்வாறே ஆபிரகாம் அதிகாலையில் எழுந்து, தமது கழுதைக்குச் சேணமிட்டு, தம் வேலைக்காரருள் இருவரையும் தம் மகன் ஈசாக்கையும் அழைத்துக்கொண்டு, எரி பலிக்கு வேண்டிய விறகுக் கட்டைகளை வெட்டியபின், கடவுள் தமக்குக் குறிப்பிட்டிருந்த இடத்தை நோக்கிப் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றார்.
மூன்றாம் நாள் ஆபிரகாம் கண்களை உயர்த்தி அந்த இடத்தைத் தூரத்திலிருந்து பார்த்தார். உடனே ஆபிரகாம் தம் வேலைக்காரர்களை நோக்கி, “நீங்கள் கழுதையோடு இங்கேயே காத்திருங்கள். நானும், பையனும் அவ்விடம் சென்று வழிபாடு செய்தபின் உங்களிடம் திரும்பி வருவோம்” என்றார்.
பின் ஆபிரகாம் எரிபலிக்கு வேண்டிய விறகுக் கட்டைகளை எடுத்துத் தம் மகன் ஈசாக்கின்மீது வைத்தார். நெருப்பையும் கத்தியையும் தம் கையில் எடுத்துக்கொண்டார். இவ்வாறு இருவரும் சேர்ந்து சென்றனர். அப்பொழுது, ஈசாக்கு தன் தந்தையாகிய ஆபிரகாமை நோக்கி, ‘அப்பா!’ என, அவர், ‘என்ன? மகனே!’ என்று கேட்டார். அதற்கு அவன், “இதோ நெருப்பும் விறகுக் கட்டைகளும் இருக்கின்றன. எரிபலிக்கான ஆட்டுக்குட்டி எங்கே?” என்று வினவினான். அதற்கு ஆபிரகாம், “எரிபலிக்கான ஆட்டுக்குட்டியைப் பொறுத்தமட்டில், கடவுளே பார்த்துக்கொள்வார் மகனே” என்றார். இருவரும் சேர்ந்து தொடர்ந்து நடந்தனர்.
ஆபிரகாமுக்குக் கடவுள் குறிப்பிட்டுச் சொல்லிய இடத்தை அவர்கள் அடைந்தனர். அங்கே ஆபிரகாம் ஒரு பலிபீடம் அமைத்து அதன்மேல் விறகுக் கட்டைகளை அடுக்கி வைத்தார். பின் தம் மகன் ஈசாக்கைக் கட்டி, பீடத்தின்மீதிருந்த விறகுக் கட்டைகளின்மேல் கிடத்தினார். ஆபிரகாம் தம் மகனை வெட்டுமாறு தம் கையை நீட்டிக் கத்தியைக் கையில் எடுத்தார். அப்பொழுது ஆண்டவரின் தூதர் வானத்தினின்று “ஆபிரகாம்! ஆபிரகாம்!” என்று கூப்பிட, அவர் “இதோ! அடியேன்” என்றார். அவர், “பையன்மேல் கை வைக்காதே; அவனுக்கு எதுவும் செய்யாதே; உன் ஒரே மகனையும் எனக்குப் பலியிட நீ தயங்கவில்லை என்பதிலிருந்து நீ கடவுளுக்கு அஞ்சுபவன் என்று இப்போது நான் அறிந்துகொண்டேன்” என்றார். அப்பொழுது ஆபிரகாம் தம் கண்களை உயர்த்திப் பார்த்தார். இதோ, முட்செடியில் கொம்பு மாட்டிக்கொண்டு நின்ற ஓர் ஆட்டுக்கிடாயைக் கண்டார். உடனே ஆபிரகாம் அங்குச் சென்று அந்தக் கிடாயைப் பிடித்து தம் மகனுக்குப் பதிலாக எரி பலியாக்கினார். எனவே, ஆபிரகாம் அந்த இடத்திற்கு ‘யாவேயிரே’ என்று பெயரிட்டார். ஆதலால்தான் ‘மலையில் ஆண்டவர் பார்த்துக்கொள்வார்’ என்று இன்றுவரை வழங்கி வருகிறது.
ஆண்டவரின் தூதர் ஆபிரகாமை வானத்தினின்று மீண்டும் அழைத்து, “ஆண்டவர் கூறுவது இதுவே! நான் என்மீது ஆணையிட்டுக் கூறுகிறேன். உன் ஒரே மகனை எனக்குப் பலியிடத் தயங்காமல் நீ இவ்வாறு செய்தாய். ஆதலால் நான் உன்மீது உண்மையாகவே ஆசி பொழிந்து விண்மீன்களைப் போலவும் கடற்கரை மணலைப் போலவும் உன் வழி மரபைப் பலுகிப் பெருகச் செய்வேன். உன் வழிமரபினர் தம் பகைவர்களின் வாயிலை உரிமையாக்கிக் கொள்வர். மேலும், நீ என் குரலுக்குச் செவிகொடுத்ததனால் உலகின் அனைத்து இனத்தவரும் உன் வழிமரபின் மூலம் தங்களுக்கு ஆசி கூறிக்கொள்வர்” என்றார்.

அப்பொழுது கடவுள், “ஒளி தோன்றுக!” என்றார்; ஒளி தோன்றிற்று. கடவுள் ஒளி நல்லது என்று கண்டார். கடவுள் ஒளியையும் இருளையும் வெவ்வேறாகப் பிரித்தார். கடவுள் ஒளிக்குப் ‘பகல்’ என்றும் இருளுக்கு ‘இரவு’ என்றும் பெயரிட்டார். மாலையும் காலையும் நிறைவுற்று முதல் நாள் முடிந்தது.
அப்பொழுது கடவுள், “நீர்த்திரளுக்கு இடையில், வானம் தோன்றுக! அது நீரினின்று நீரைப் பிரிக்கட்டும்” என்றார். கடவுள் வானத்தை உருவாக்கி வானத்திற்குக் கீழுள்ள நீரையும் வானத்திற்கு மேலுள்ள நீரையும் பிரித்தார். அது அவ்வாறே ஆயிற்று. கடவுள் வானத்திற்கு ‘விண்ணுலகம்’ என்று பெயரிட்டார். மாலையும் காலையும் நிறைவுற்று இரண்டாம் நாள் முடிந்தது.
அப்பொழுது கடவுள், “விண்ணுலகுக்குக் கீழுள்ள நீர் எல்லாம் ஓரிடத்தில் ஒன்றுசேர உலர்ந்த தரை தோன்றுக!” என்றார். அது அவ்வாறே ஆயிற்று. கடவுள் உலர்ந்த தரைக்கு ‘நிலம்’ என்றும் ஒன்றுதிரண்ட நீருக்குக் ‘கடல்’ என்றும் பெயரிட்டார். கடவுள் அது நல்லது என்று கண்டார். அப்பொழுது கடவுள், “புற்பூண்டுகளையும் விதை தரும் செடிகளையும், கனி தரும் பழமரங்களையும் அந்த அந்த இனத்தின்படியே நிலம் விளைவிக்கட்டும்” என்றார். அது அவ்வாறே ஆயிற்று. புற்பூண்டுகளையும் விதையைப் பிறப்பிக்கும் செடிகளையும் கனிதரும் மரங்களையும் அந்த அந்த இனத்தின் படி நிலம் விளைவித்தது. கடவுள் அது நல்லது என்று கண்டார். மாலையும், காலையும் நிறைவுற்று மூன்றாம் நாள் முடிந்தது.
அப்பொழுது கடவுள், “பகலையும் இரவையும் வெவ்வேறாகப் பிரிப் பதற்கும் காலங்கள், நாள்கள், ஆண்டுகள் ஆகியவற்றைக் குறிப்பதற்கும் விண்விரிவினில் ஒளிப்பிழம்புகள் தோன்றுக! அவை மண்ணுலகிற்கு ஒளி தர விண்விரிவினில் ஒளிப்பிழம்புகளாக இருக்கட்டும்” என்றார். அது அவ்வாறே ஆயிற்று. கடவுள் இருபெரும் ஒளிப் பிழம்புகளை உருவாக்கினார். பகலை ஆள்வதற்குப் பெரிய ஒளிப்பிழம்பையும், இரவை ஆள்வதற்குச் சிறிய ஒளிப்பிழம்பையும் மற்றும் விண்மீன்களையும் அவர் உருவாக்கினார். கடவுள் மண்ணுலகிற்கு ஒளிதர விண்ணுலக வானத்தில் அவற்றை அமைத்தார்; பகலையும் இரவையும் ஆள்வதற்கும் ஒளியையும் இருளையும் வெவ்வேறாகப் பிரிப்பதற்கும் அவற்றை அமைத்தார். கடவுள் அது நல்லது என்று கண்டார். மாலையும் காலையும் நிறைவுற்று நான்காம் நாள் முடிந்தது.
அப்பொழுது கடவுள், “திரளான உயிரினங்களைத் தண்ணீர் தோற்று விப்பதாக! விண்ணுலக வானத்தில் நிலத்திற்கு மேலே பறவைகள் பறப்பனவாக!” என்றார். இவ்வாறு, கடலின் பெரும் பாம்புகளையும், திரள் திரளாக நீரில் நீந்திவாழும் உயிரினங்களையும், இறக்கையுள்ள எல்லாவிதப் பறவைகளையும் அவ்வவற்றின் இனத்தின்படி கடவுள் படைத்தார். கடவுள் அது நல்லது என்று கண்டார். கடவுள் அவற்றிற்கு ஆசி வழங்கி, “பலுகிப் பெருகிக் கடல் நீரை நிரப்புங்கள். பறவைகளும் மண்ணுலகில் பெருகட்டும்” என்றுரைத்தார். மாலையும் காலையும் நிறைவுற்று, ஐந்தாம் நாள் முடிந்தது.
அப்பொழுது கடவுள், “கால்நடைகள், ஊர்வன, காட்டுவிலங்குகள் ஆகியவற்றை அவ்வவற்றின் இனத்தின்படி நிலம் தோற்றுவிப்பதாக” என்றார். கடவுள் காட்டு விலங்குகளையும் கால்நடைகளையும் நிலத்தில் ஊர்வன யாவற்றையும் அவ்வவற்றின் இனத்தின்படி உருவாக்கினார். கடவுள் அது நல்லது என்று கண்டார்.
அப்பொழுது கடவுள், “மானிடரை நம் உருவிலும், நம் சாயலிலும் உண்டாக்குவோம். அவர்கள் கடல் மீன்களையும், வானத்துப் பறவைகளையும், கால்நடைகளையும், மண்ணுலகு முழுவதையும், நிலத்தில் ஊர்வன யாவற்றையும் ஆளட்டும்” என்றார். கடவுள் தம் உருவில் மானிடரைப் படைத்தார்; கடவுளின் உருவிலேயே அவர்களைப் படைத்தார்; ஆணும் பெண்ணுமாக அவர்களைப் படைத்தார். கடவுள் அவர்களுக்கு ஆசி வழங்கி, “பலுகிப் பெருகி மண்ணுலகை நிரப்புங்கள்; அதை உங்கள் ஆற்றலுக்கு உட்படுத்துங்கள்; கடல் மீன்கள், வானத்துப் பறவைகள், நிலத்தில் ஊர்ந்து உயிர் வாழ்வன அனைத்தையும் ஆளுங்கள்” என்றார். அப்பொழுது கடவுள், “மண்ணுலகெங்கும் உள்ள விதை தரும் செடிகள், பழமரங்கள், அனைத்தையும் உங்களுக்கு நான் கொடுத்துள்ளேன்; இவை உங்களுக்கு உணவாகட்டும். எல்லாக் காட்டுவிலங்குகள், வானத்துப் பறவைகள், நிலத்தில் ஊர்வன ஆகிய அனைத்து உயிரினங்களுக்கும் பசுமையான செடிகள் அனைத்தையும் நான் உணவாகத் தந்துள்ளேன்” என்றார். அது அவ்வாறே ஆயிற்று.
கடவுள் தாம் உருவாக்கிய அனைத்தையும் நோக்கினார். அவை மிகவும் நன்றாய் இருந்தன. மாலையும் காலையும் நிறைவுற்று ஆறாம் நாள் முடிந்தது.
விண்ணுலகும் மண்ணுலகும் அவற்றில் உள்ள அமைப்புகள் அனைத்தும் உருவாக்கப் பெற்று நிறைவெய்தின. மேலும் கடவுள் தாம் செய்த வேலையை ஏழாம் நாளில் முடித்திருந்தார். அவர் தாம் செய்த வேலைகள் அனைத்தையும் நிறைவு பெறச் செய்து, ஏழாம் நாளில் ஓய்ந்திருந்தார்.

Brethren: Do you not know that all of us who have been baptised into Christ Jesus were baptised into his death? Lift up your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground. And I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they shall go in after them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, his chariots, and his horsemen. And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gained glory over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.” Then the angel of God who was going before the host of Israel moved and went behind them, and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them, coming between the host of Egypt and the host of Israel. And there was the cloud and the darkness. And it lit up the night without one coming near the other all night. Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. The sacrifice of Abraham, our father in faith
In those days: God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” So Abraham rose early in the morning, saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and his son Isaac. And he cut the wood for the burnt offering and arose and went to the place of which God had told him. On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place from afar. Then Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; I and the boy will go over there and worship and come again to you.” And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. And he took in his hand the fire and the knife. So they went both of them together. And Isaac said to his father Abraham, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” He said, “Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” Abraham said, “God will provide for himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they went both of them together. When they came to the place of which God had told him, Abraham built the altar there and laid the wood in order and bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. Then Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son. But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.” And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him was a ram, caught in a thicket by his horns. And Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called the name of that place, “The Lord will provide”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.” And the angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time from heaven and said, “By myself I have sworn, declares the Lord, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies, and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.”

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light”, and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day. And God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” And God made the firmament and separated the waters that were under the firmament from the waters that were above the firmament. And it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day. And God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so. God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good. And God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.” And it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the third day. And God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years, and let them be lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light upon the earth.” And it was so. And God made the two great lights— the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night— and the stars. And God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day. And God said, “Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the firmament of the heavens.” So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day. And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds— livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so. And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so. And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done.
