நான் அனுப்புகிறவரை ஏற்றுக்கொள்பவர் என்னையே ஏற்றுக்கொள்கிறார்.

அக்காலத்தில்

சீடர்களின் பாதங்களைக் கழுவியபின் இயேசு அவர்களுக்குக் கூறியது: “பணியாளர் தலைவரைவிடப் பெரியவர் அல்ல; தூது அனுப்பப் பட்டவரும் அவரை அனுப்பியவரைவிடப் பெரியவர் அல்ல என உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன். இவற்றை நீங்கள் அறிந்து அதன்படி நடப்பீர்கள் என்றால் நீங்கள் பேறுபெற்றவர்கள்.

உங்கள் அனைவரையும்பற்றி நான் பேசவில்லை. நான் தேர்ந்து கொண்டவர்கள் யாரென எனக்குத் தெரியும். எனினும், “என்னோடு உண்பவனே என்மேல் பாய்ந்தான்” என்னும் மறைநூல் வாக்கு நிறைவேறியாக வேண்டும்.

அது நிறைவேறும்போது, ‘இருக்கிறவர் நானே’ என்று நீங்கள் நம்புமாறு இப்போதே, அது நிறைவேறுமுன்பே, அதுபற்றி உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லி வைக்கிறேன். நான் அனுப்புகிறவரை ஏற்றுக்கொள்பவர் என்னையே ஏற்றுக்கொள்கிறார். என்னை ஏற்றுக்கொள்பவர் என்னை அனுப்பியவரையே ஏற்றுக்கொள்கிறார் என உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்.”

திருத்தூதர் பணிகள் நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 13: 13-25

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

பவுலும் அவரோடு இருந்தவர்களும் பாப்போவிலிருந்து கப்பலேறி, பம்பிலியாவிலுள்ள பெருகை நகருக்கு வந்தார்கள். அங்கே யோவான் அவர்களைவிட்டு அகன்று எருசலேமுக்குத் திரும்பினார். அவர்கள் பெருகையிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டுச் சென்று பிசிதியாவிலுள்ள அந்தி யோக்கியாவை அடைந்தார்கள். ஓய்வுநாளன்று அவர்கள் தொழுகைக் கூடத்திற்குச் சென்று அங்கு அமர்ந்திருந்தார்கள். திருச்சட்டமும் இறைவாக்கினர் நூல்களும் வாசித்து முடிந்தபின் தொழுகைக்கூடத் தலைவர்கள் அவர்களிடம் ஆள் அனுப்பி, “சகோதரரே, உங்களுள் யாராவது மக்களுக்கு அறிவுரை கூறுவதாயிருந்தால் கூறலாம்” என்று கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்கள்.

அப்போது பவுல் எழுந்து கையால் சைகை காட்டிவிட்டுக் கூறியது: “இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களே, கடவுளுக்கு அஞ்சுவோரே, கேளுங்கள். இந்த இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களின் கடவுள் நம்முடைய மூதாதையரைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்தார்; அவர்கள் எகிப்து நாட்டில் அன்னியர்களாகத் தங்கியிருந்தபோது அவர்களை ஒரு பெரிய மக்களினமாக்கினார். பின்பு அவர் தம் தோள்வலிமையைக் காட்டி அவர்களை அந்த நாட்டைவிட்டு வெளியே அழைத்துக்கொண்டு வந்தார்; நாற்பது ஆண்டு காலமாய்ப் பாலைநிலத்தில் அவர்களிடம் மிகுந்த பொறுமை காட்டினார். அவர் கானான் நாட்டின்மீது ஏழு மக்களினங்களை அழித்து அவர்கள் நாட்டை இவர்களுக்கு ஏறக்குறைய நானூற்றைம்பது ஆண்டுகள் உரிமைச் சொத்தாக அளித்தார்; அதன்பின்பு இறைவாக்கினர் சாமுவேலின் காலம் வரை அவர்களுக்கு நீதித் தலைவர்களை அளித்தார்.

பின்பு அவர்கள் தங்களுக்கு ஓர் அரசர் வேண்டும் என்று கேட்டார்கள். கடவுள் கீசு என்பவரின் மகனான சவுல் என்பவரை அவர்களுக்கு அரசராகக் கொடுத்தார். பென்யமின் குலத்தினராகிய அவர் நாற்பது ஆண்டுகள் ஆட்சி செலுத்தினார். பின்பு கடவுள் அவரை நீக்கிவிட்டுத் தாவீதை அவர்களுக்கு அரசராக ஏற்படுத்தினார்; அவரைக் குறித்து ‘ஈசாயின் மகனான தாவீதை என் இதயத்துக்கு உகந்தவனாகக் கண்டேன்; என் விருப்பம் அனைத்தையும் அவன் நிறைவேற்றுவான்’ என்று சான்று பகர்ந்தார்.

தாம் அளித்த வாக்குறுதியின்படி கடவுள் அவருடைய வழிமரபிலிருந்தே இஸ்ரயேலுக்கு இயேசு என்னும் மீட்பர் தோன்றச் செய்தார். அவருடைய வருகைக்கு முன்பே யோவான், ‘மனம் மாறி திருமுழுக்குப் பெறுங்கள்’ என்று இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் அனைவருக்கும் பறைசாற்றி வந்தார். யோவான் தம் வாழ்க்கை என்னும் ஓட்டத்தை முடிக்கும் தறுவாயில், ‘நான் யார் என நீங்கள் நினைக்கிறீர்களோ அவரல்ல நான். இதோ, எனக்குப்பின் ஒருவர் வருகிறார்; அவருடைய மிதியடிகளை அவிழ்க்கவும் எனக்குத் தகுதி இல்லை’ என்று கூறினார்.”

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.John 13: 16-20 

When Jesus had washed the feet of his disciples, he said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. I am not speaking of all of you; I know whom I have chosen. But the Scripture will be fulfilled, ‘He who ate my bread has lifted his heel against me.’ I am telling you this now, before it takes place, that when it does take place you may believe that I am he. Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.”

A Reading from the Acts of Apostles 13: 13-25 

Paul and his companions set sail from Paphos and came to Perga in Pamphylia. And John left them and returned to Jerusalem, but they went on from Perga and came to Antioch in Pisidia. And on the Sabbath day they went into the synagogue and sat down. After the reading from the Law and the Prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent a message to them, saying, “Brothers, if you have any word of encouragement for the people, say it.” So Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said: “Men of Israel and you who fear God, listen. The God of this people Israel chose our fathers and made the people great during their stay in the land of Egypt, and with uplifted arm he led them out of it. And for about forty years he put up with them in the wilderness. And after destroying seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave them their land as an inheritance. All this took about four hundred and fifty years. And after that he gave them judges until Samuel the prophet. Then they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years. And when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king, of whom he testified and said, ‘I have found in David the son of Jesse a man after my heart, who will do all my will.’ Of this man’s offspring God has brought to Israel a Saviour, Jesus, as he promised. Before his coming, John had proclaimed a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. And as John was finishing his course, he said, ‘What do you suppose that I am? I am not he. No, but behold, after me one is coming, the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to untie.’”
