ஆடுகளுக்கு வாயில் நானே.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு கூறியது: ‘‘உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்: ஆட்டுக் கொட்டிலில் வாயில் வழியாக நுழையாமல் வேறு வழியாக ஏறிக் குதிப்போர் திருடர் அல்லது கொள்ளையராய் இருப்பர். வாயில் வழியாக நுழைபவர் ஆடுகளின் ஆயர். அவருக்கே காவலர் வாயிலைத் திறந்துவிடுவார். ஆடுகளும் அவரது குரலுக்கே செவிசாய்க்கும். அவர் தம்முடைய சொந்த ஆடுகளைப் பெயர் சொல்லிக் கூப்பிட்டு வெளியே கூட்டிச் செல்வார். தம்முடைய சொந்த ஆடுகள் அனைத்தையும் வெளியே ஓட்டி வந்தபின் அவர் அவற்றிற்குமுன் செல்வார். ஆடுகளும் அவரைப் பின்தொடரும். ஏனெனில் அவரது குரல் அவற்றுக்குத் தெரியும். அறியாத ஒருவரை அவை பின்தொடரா. அவரை விட்டு அவை ஓடிப்போகும். ஏனெனில் அவரது குரல் அவற்றுக்குத் தெரியாது.”

இயேசு அவர்களிடம் உவமையாக இவ்வாறு சொன்னார். ஆனால் அவர் சொன்னதை அவர்கள் புரிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை.

மீண்டும் இயேசு கூறியது: ‘‘உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்: ஆடுகளுக்கு வாயில் நானே. எனக்கு முன்பு வந்தவர் அனைவரும் திருடரும் கொள்ளையருமே. அவர்களுக்கு ஆடுகள் செவிசாய்க்கவில்லை. நானே வாயில். என் வழியாக நுழைவோருக்கு ஆபத்து இல்லை. அவர்கள் உள்ளே போவர்; வெளியே வருவர்; மேய்ச்சல் நிலத்தைக் கண்டுகொள்வர். திருடுவதற்கும் கொல்வதற்கும் அழிப்பதற்குமன்றித் திருடர் வேறெதற்கும் வருவதில்லை. ஆனால் நான் ஆடுகள் வாழ்வைப் பெறும்பொருட்டு, அதுவும் நிறைவாகப் பெறும்பொருட்டு வந்துள்ளேன்.”

உங்கள் ஆன்மாக்களின் ஆயரிடம் திரும்பி வந்திருக்கிறீர்கள்.

திருத்தூதர் பேதுரு எழுதிய முதல் திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 2: 20b-25

அன்பிற்குரியவர்களே,

நன்மை செய்தும், அதற்காகப் பொறுமையோடு துன்புற்றால், அது கடவுளுக்கு உகந்ததாகும். கிறிஸ்துவும் உங்களுக்காகத் துன்புற்று ஒரு முன் மாதிரியை வைத்துச் சென்றுள்ளார். எனவே நீங்கள் அவருடைய அடிச்சுவடுகளைப் பின்பற்றுங்கள்; இதற்காகவே அழைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளீர்கள்.

“வன்செயல் எதுவும் அவர் செய்ததில்லை; வஞ்சனை எதுவும் அவர் வாயில் இருந்ததில்லை.” பழிக்கப்பட்டபோது பதிலுக்குப் பழிக்கவில்லை; துன்புறுத்தப்பட்டபோது அச்சுறுத்தவில்லை; நியாயமாகத் தீர்ப்பு வழங்குவோரிடம் தம்மை ஒப்படைத்தார். சிலுவையின்மீது தம் உடலில் நம் பாவங்களை அவரே சுமந்தார். நாம் பாவங்களுக்கு இறந்து, நீதிக்காக வாழ்வதற்கே இவ்வாறு செய்தார். அவர்தம் காயங்களால் நீங்கள் குணமடைந்துள்ளீர்கள்.

நீங்கள் வழி தவறி அலையும் ஆடுகளைப்போல இருந்தீர்கள். ஆனால் இப்பொழுது உங்கள் ஆன்மாக்களின் ஆயரும் கண்காணிப்பாளருமாய் இருப்பவரிடம் திரும்பி வந்திருக்கிறீர்கள்.

பெந்தக்கோஸ்து என்னும் நாள் வந்தபோது பேதுரு பதினொருவருடன் சேர்ந்து, எழுந்து நின்று, உரத்த குரலில் அவர்களிடம் பின்வருமாறு கூறினார்: “நீங்கள் சிலுவையில் அறைந்த இந்த இயேசுவைக் கடவுள் ஆண்டவரும் மெசியாவுமாக்கினார் என்பதை இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களாகிய நீங்கள் அனைவரும் உறுதியாக அறிந்துகொள்ளுங்கள்.”

அவர்கள் இதைக் கேட்டு உள்ளம் குத்தப்பட்டவர்களாய் பேதுருவையும் மற்றத் திருத்தூதர்களையும் பார்த்து, “சகோதரரே, நாங்கள் என்ன செய்ய வேண்டும்?” என்று கேட்டார்கள். அதற்குப் பேதுரு, அவர்களிடம், “நீங்கள் மனம் மாறுங்கள். உங்கள் பாவங்களிலிருந்து மன்னிப்புப் பெறுவதற்காக ஒவ்வொருவரும் இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் பெயரால் திருமுழுக்குப் பெறுங்கள். அப்பொழுது தூய ஆவியைக் கொடையாகப் பெறுவீர்கள். ஏனென்றால் இந்த வாக்குறுதியானது உங்களுக்கும் உங்களது பிள்ளைகளுக்கும் தொலையிலுள்ள யாவருக்கும் ஆண்டவராகிய கடவுள் தம்மிடம் அழைக்கும் அனைவருக்கும் உரியது” என்றார்.

மேலும் அவர் வேறுபல சான்றுகளை எடுத்துக்கூறி, “நெறிகெட்ட இந்தத் தலைமுறையிலிருந்து, உங்களைக் காப்பாற்றிக்கொள்ளுங்கள்” என்று அறிவுறுத்தினார். அவருடைய வார்த்தைகளை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டவர்கள் திருமுழுக்குப் பெற்றார்கள். அன்று ஏறக்குறைய மூவாயிரம் பேர் அவர்களோடு சேர்க்கப்பட்டனர்.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.John 10:1-10 

At that time: Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.” This figure of speech Jesus used with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them. So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”

A Reading from the first letter of St.Peter 2:20b–25

Beloved: If when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

A Reading from the Acts of Apostles 2:14, 36-41 

[On the day of Pentecost,] Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them: “Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.” Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptised every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” So those who received his word were baptised, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.
