தீர்ப்பு நாளில் தென்னாட்டு அரசி இத்தலைமுறையினரோடு எழுந்து இவர்களைக் கண்டனம் செய்வார்.

✠ மத்தேயு எழுதிய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 12: 38-42

அக்காலத்தில்

மறைநூல்அறிஞர் சிலரும் பரிசேயர் சிலரும் இயேசுவுக்கு மறுமொழியாக, “போதகரே, நீர் அடையாளம் ஒன்று காட்ட வேண்டும் என விரும்புகிறோம்” என்றனர்.

அதற்கு அவர் கூறியது: “இந்தத் தீய விபசாரத் தலைமுறையினர் அடையாளம் கேட்கின்றனர். இவர்களுக்கு இறைவாக்கினரான யோனாவின் அடையாளத்தைத் தவிர வேறு அடையாளம் எதுவும் கொடுக்கப்படமாட்டாது. யோனா மூன்று பகலும் மூன்று இரவும் ஒரு பெரிய மீனின் வயிற்றில் இருந்தார். அவ்வாறே மானிட மகனும் மூன்று பகலும் மூன்று இரவும் நிலத்தின் உள்ளே இருப்பார்.

தீர்ப்பு நாளில் நினிவே மக்கள் இத்தலைமுறையினரோடு எழுந்து, இவர்களைக் கண்டனம் செய்வார்கள். ஏனெனில் யோனா அறிவித்த செய்தியைக் கேட்டு அவர்கள் மனம் மாறியவர்கள். ஆனால், இங்கிருப்பவர் யோனாவை விடப் பெரியவர் அல்லவா!

தீர்ப்பு நாளில் தென்னாட்டு அரசி இத்தலைமுறையினரோடு எழுந்து இவர்களைக் கண்டனம் செய்வார். ஏனெனில் அவர் சாலமோனின் ஞானத்தைக் கேட்க உலகின் கடைக்கோடியிலிருந்து வந்தவர். ஆனால் இங்கிருப்பவர் சாலமோனிலும் பெரியவர் அல்லவா!”

இறைவாக்கினர் மீக்கா நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 6: 1-4, 6-8

ஆண்டவர் கூறுவதைக் கேளுங்கள்: நீ எழுந்து, மலைகளுக்கு முன்னிலையில் உன் வழக்கைச் சொல்; குன்றுகள் உன் குரல் ஒலியைக் கேட்கட்டும். மலைகளே, மண்ணுலகின் நிலையான அடித்தளங்களே, ஆண்டவரின் வழக்கைக் கேளுங்கள்; ஆண்டவருக்குத் தம் மக்களோடு வழக்கு ஒன்று உண்டு; இஸ்ரயேலோடு அவர் வாதாடப் போகின்றார்.

என் மக்களே, நான் உங்களுக்கு என்ன செய்தேன்? எதில் நான் உங்களைத் துயரடையச் செய்தேன்? எனக்கு மறுமொழி கூறுங்கள். நான் உங்களை எகிப்து நாட்டிலிருந்து அழைத்து வந்தேன்; அடிமைத்தன வீட்டிலிருந்து மீட்டு வந்தேன்; உங்களுக்கு முன்பாக மோசேயையும், ஆரோனையும், மிரியாமையும் அனுப்பி வைத்தேன்.

ஆண்டவரின் திருமுன் வரும்போது உன்னதரான கடவுளாகிய அவருக்கு எதைக் கொண்டுவந்து பணிந்து நிற்பேன்? எரிபலிகளோடும் ஒரு வயதுக் கன்றுகளோடும் அவர் முன்னிலையில் வரவேண்டுமா? ஆயிரக்கணக்கான ஆட்டுக்கிடாய்கள் மேலும் பல்லாயிரக்கணக்கான ஆறுகளாய்ப் பெருக்கெடுத்தோடும் எண்ணெய் மேலும் ஆண்டவர் விருப்பம் கொள்வாரோ? என் குற்றத்தை அகற்ற என் தலைப்பிள்ளையையும், என் பாவத்தைப் போக்க நான் பெற்ற குழந்தையையும் பலி கொடுக்க வேண்டுமா?

ஓ மானிடா, நல்லது எது என அவர் உனக்குக் காட்டியிருக்கின்றாரே! நேர்மையைக் கடைப்பிடித்தலையும், இரக்கம் கொள்வதில் நாட்டத்தையும் உன் கடவுளுக்கு முன்பாக தாழ்ச்சியோடு நடந்து கொள்வதையும் தவிர வேறு எதை ஆண்டவர் உன்னிடம் கேட்கின்றார்?

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Matthew 12: 38-42 

At that time: Some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Jesus, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.” But he answered them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great sea creature, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. T he men of Nineveh will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, something greater than Jonah is here. T he queen of the South will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, some thing greater than Solomon is here.”

The Lord asks only this: to act justly, to love tenderly, to walk humbly

A Reading from the Book of the Prophet Micah 6: 1-4, 6-8 

Hear what the Lord says: Arise, plead your case before the mountains, and let the hills hear your voice. Hear, you mountains, the indictment of the Lord, and you enduring foundations of the earth, for the Lord has an indictment against his people, and he will contend with Israel. “O my people, what have I done to you? How have I wearied you? Answer me! For I brought you up from the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of slavery, and I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam. “With what shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before God on high? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?” He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
