தீர்ப்பு நாளில் தீருக்கும் சீதோனுக்கும் கிடைக்கும் தண்டனையைவிட உங்களுக்குக் கிடைக்கும் தண்டனை கடினமாகவே இருக்கும்.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு வல்ல செயல்கள் பல நிகழ்த்திய நகரங்கள் மனம் மாறவில்லை. எனவே அவர் அவற்றைக் கண்டிக்கத் தொடங்கினார். “கொராசின் நகரே, ஐயோ! உனக்குக் கேடு! பெத்சாய்தா நகரே, ஐயோ! உனக்குக் கேடு! ஏனெனில் உங்களிடையே செய்யப்பட்ட வல்ல செயல்கள் தீர், சீதோன் நகரங்களில் செய்யப்பட்டிருந்தால் அங்குள்ள மக்கள் முன்பே சாக்கு உடை உடுத்திச் சாம்பல் பூசி மனம் மாறியிருப்பர். தீர்ப்பு நாளில் தீருக்கும் சீதோனுக்கும் கிடைக்கும் தண்டனையைவிட உங்களுக்குக் கிடைக்கும் தண்டனை கடினமாகவே இருக்கும் என நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்.

கப்பர்நாகுமே, நீ வானளாவ உயர்த்தப்படுவாயோ? இல்லை, பாதாளம் வரை தாழ்த்தப்படுவாய். ஏனெனில் உன்னிடம் செய்யப்பட்ட வல்ல செயல்கள் சோதோமில் செய்யப்பட்டிருந்தால் அது இன்றுவரை நிலைத்திருக்குமே! தீர்ப்பு நாளில் சோதோமுக்குக் கிடைக்கும் தண்டனையைவிட உனக்குக் கிடைக்கும் தண்டனை கடினமாகவே இருக்கும் என நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்” என்றார்.

உங்களிடம் விசுவாசம் இல்லாவிடில், நீங்கள் நிலைபெற்றிருக்க மாட்டீர்கள்.

இறைவாக்கினர் எசாயா நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 7: 1-9

உசியாவின் பேரனும் யோதாமின் மகனுமான ஆகாசு யூதா நாட்டை ஆட்சி செய்த நாள்களில், இரட்சின் என்னும் சிரியா நாட்டு அரசனும் இரமலியாவின் மகன் பெக்கா என்னும் இஸ்ரயேல் நாட்டு அரசனும் எருசலேமுக்கு எதிராகப் போர் தொடுத்து அதை வீழ்த்த முயன்றனர். அவர்களால் அது இயலாமற் போயிற்று.

‘சிரியா எப்ராயிமோடு கூட்டணி அமைத்துக் கொண்டது’ என்னும் செய்தி தாவீதின் குடும்பத்தாருக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது; உடனே பெருங் காற்றினால் காட்டு மரங்கள் அலையதிர்வு கொள்வதுபோல், ஆகாசின் உள்ளமும் அவர் நாட்டு மக்களின் உள்ளங்களும் அலைக்கழிக்கப்பட்டன. அப்பொழுது ஆண்டவர் எசாயாவை நோக்கி: “நீ உன் மகன் செயார்யாசிபை உன்னுடன் அழைத்துச் சென்று ஆகாசைச் சந்திப்பாயாக. வண்ணான் வயலுக்குச் செல்லும் வழியில், மேற்குளத்துக்குப் போகும் கால்வாயின் மறுமுனையில் நீ ஆகாசைக் காண்பாய். அவனுக்கு இதைச் சொல்: நீ அமைதியாய் இரு; அஞ்சாதிருந்து நடப்பனவற்றை உற்றுப் பார்; இரட்சின், சிரியா நாட்டினர், இரமலியாவின் மகன் ஆகியோரின் கடும் சினத்தைக் கண்டு மனங்கலங்காதே. அவர்கள் புகைந்து கொண்டிருக்கும் இரு கொள்ளிக் கட்டைகளிலிருந்து வரும் புகை போன்றவர்கள். சிரியா எப்ராயிமோடும் இரமலியாவின் மகனோடும் உனக்கெதிராய்ச் சதித்திட்டம் தீட்டி, ‘யூதாவுக்கு எதிராய் நாம் படை எடுத்துச் சென்று அதை நடுநடுங்கச் செய்வோம்; அதற்கு எதிராய்ப் போரிட்டு, அதைப் பிடித்து தயேல் என்பவனின் மகனை அதற்கு அரசனாக்குவோம்’ என்று தங்களுக்குள் பேசிக் கொள்கிறார்கள்.”

ஆதலால் ஆண்டவர் இவ்வாறு உரைக்கிறார்: “அவர்களது திட்டம் நிலைத்து நிற்காது, அது ஒருபோதும் நிறைவேறாது. ஏனெனில் சிரியாவின் தலைநகர் தமஸ்கு; தமஸ்கு நகரின் தலைவன் இரட்சின். (இன்னும் அறுபத்தைந்து ஆண்டுகளில் எப்ராயிம் ஒரு மக்களினம் என்னும் தகுதியை இழக்கும் வண்ணம் தவிடு பொடியாக்கப்படும்). எப்ராயிமின் தலைநகர் சமாரியா; சமாரியா நகரின் தலைவன் இரமலியாவின் மகன். உங்கள் நம்பிக்கையில் நிலைத்திராவிடில் நீங்களும் நிலைத்து நிற்க மாட்டீர்கள்.”

At that time: Jesus began to denounce the cities where most of his mighty works had been done, because they did not repent. “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I tell you, it will be more bearable on the day of judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you. And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You will be brought down to Hades. For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I tell you that it will be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom than for you.”

In the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, son of Uzziah, king of Judah, Rezin the king of Syria and Pekah the son of Remaliah the king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to wage war against it, but could not yet mount an attack against it. When the house of David was told, “Syria is in league with Ephraim,” the heart of Ahaz and the heart of his people shook as the trees of the forest shake before the wind. And the Lord said to Isaiah, “Go out to meet Ahaz, you and Shear-jashub your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool on the highway to the Washer’s Field. And say to him, ‘Be careful, be quiet, do not fear, and do not let your heart be faint, because of these two smoldering stumps of firebrands, at the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria and the son of Remaliah. Because Syria, with Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, has devised evil against you, saying, “Let us go up against Judah and terrify it, and let us conquer it for ourselves, and set up the son of Tabeel as king in the midst of it,” thus says the Lord God: “It shall not stand, and it shall not come to pass. For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin. And within sixty-five years Ephraim will be shattered from being a people. And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is the son of Remaliah. If you are not firm in faith, you will not be firm at all.”
