அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு கலிலேயாவிலுள்ள கப்பர்நாகும் ஊருக்குச் சென்று, ஓய்வு நாள்களில் மக்களுக்குக் கற்பித்து வந்தார். அவருடைய போதனையைக் குறித்து அவர்கள் வியப்பில் ஆழ்ந்தார்கள்.

ஏனெனில் அவர் அதிகாரத்தோடு கற்பித்தார். தொழுகைக்கூடத்தில் தீய ஆவியான பேய் பிடித்திருந்த ஒருவர் இருந்தார். அவரைப் பிடித்திருந்த பேய், “ஐயோ! நாசரேத்து இயேசுவே, உமக்கு இங்கு என்ன வேலை? எங்களை ஒழித்துவிடவா வந்தீர்? நீர் யார் என எனக்குத் தெரியும். நீர் கடவுளுக்கு அர்ப்பணமானவர்” என்று உரத்த குரலில் கத்தியது.

“வாயை மூடு, இவரை விட்டு வெளியே போ” என்று இயேசு அதனை அதட்டினார். அப்பொழுது பேய் பிடித்தவரை அவர்கள் நடுவே விழச் செய்து, அவருக்கு ஒரு தீங்கும் இழைக்காமல் பேய் அவரை விட்டு வெளியேறிற்று.

எல்லாரும் திகைப்படைந்து, “எப்படிப் பேசுகிறார், பாருங்கள்! அதிகாரத் தோடும் வல்லமையோடும் தீய ஆவிகளுக்குக் கட்டளையிடுகிறார்; அவையும் போய்விடுகின்றனவே!” என்று ஒருவரோடு ஒருவர் பேசிக் கொண்டனர். அவரைப் பற்றிய பேச்சு சுற்றுப்புறமெங்கும் பரவியது.

Brethren: The Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual. The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு தாம் வளர்ந்த ஊராகிய நாசரேத்துக்கு வந்தார். தமது வழக்கத்தின்படி ஓய்வு நாளில் தொழுகைக்கூடத்திற்குச் சென்று வாசிக்க எழுந்தார். இறைவாக்கினர் எசாயாவின் சுருளேடு அவரிடம் கொடுக்கப்பட்டது. அவர் அதைப் பிரித்தபோது கண்ட பகுதியில் இவ்வாறு எழுதியிருந்தது:

“ஆண்டவருடைய ஆவி என்மேல் உளது; ஏனெனில், அவர் எனக்கு அருள்பொழிவு செய்துள்ளார். ஏழைகளுக்கு நற்செய்தியை அறிவிக்கவும் சிறைப்பட்டோர் விடுதலை அடைவர், பார்வையற்றோர் பார்வை பெறுவர் என முழக்கமிடவும் ஒடுக்கப்பட்டோரை விடுதலை செய்து அனுப்பவும் ஆண்டவர் அருள்தரும் ஆண்டினை முழக்கமிட்டு அறிவிக்கவும் அவர் என்னை அனுப்பியுள்ளார்.” பின்னர் அந்த ஏட்டைச் சுருட்டி ஏவலரிடம் கொடுத்து விட்டு அமர்ந்தார். தொழுகைக்கூடத்தில் இருந்தவர்களின் கண்கள் அனைத்தும் அவரையே உற்று நோக்கியிருந்தன.

அப்பொழுது அவர் அவர்களை நோக்கி, “நீங்கள் கேட்ட இந்த மறைநூல் வாக்கு இன்று நிறைவேறிற்று” என்றார். அவர் வாயிலிருந்து வந்த அருள்மொழிகளைக் கேட்டு வியப்புற்று, “இவர் யோசேப்பின் மகன் அல்லவா?” எனக் கூறி எல்லாரும் அவரைப் பாராட்டினர்.

அவர் அவர்களிடம், “நீங்கள் என்னிடம், ‘மருத்துவரே, உம்மையே நீர் குணமாக்கிக்கொள்ளும்’ என்னும் பழமொழியைச் சொல்லி, ‘கப்பர்நாகுமில் நீர் செய்ததாக நாங்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டவற்றை எல்லாம் உம் சொந்த ஊராகிய இவ்விடத்திலும் செய்யும்’ எனக் கண்டிப்பாய்க் கூறுவீர்கள்.

இயேசு தாம் எருசலேமுக்குப் போய் மூப்பர்கள், தலைமைக் குருக்கள், மறைநூல் அறிஞர்கள் ஆகியோரால் பலவாறு துன்பப்படவும் கொலை செய்யப்படவும் மூன்றாம் நாள் உயிருடன் எழுப்பப்படவும் வேண்டும் என்பதைத் தம் சீடருக்கு அந்நேரம் முதல் எடுத்துரைக்கத் தொடங்கினார்.

பேதுரு அவரைத் தனியே அழைத்துக் கடிந்து கொண்டு, “ஆண்டவரே, இது வேண்டாம். இப்படி உமக்கு நடக்கவே கூடாது” என்றார். ஆனால் இயேசு பேதுருவைத் திரும்பிப் பார்த்து, “என் கண்முன் நில்லாதே சாத்தானே, நீ எனக்குத் தடையாய் இருக்கிறாய்; ஏனெனில் நீ கடவுளுக்கு ஏற்றவைபற்றி எண்ணாமல் மனிதருக்கு ஏற்றவை பற்றியே எண்ணுகிறாய்” என்றார்.

பின்பு இயேசு தம் சீடரைப் பார்த்து, “என்னைப் பின்பற்ற விரும்பும் எவரும் தன்னலம் துறந்து, தம் சிலுவையைத் தூக்கிக்கொண்டு என்னைப் பின்பற்றட்டும். ஏனெனில் தம் உயிரைக் காத்துக்கொள்ள விரும்பும் எவரும் அதை இழந்துவிடுவர். மாறாக, என் பொருட்டுத் தம்மையே அழித்துக் கொள்கிற எவரும் வாழ்வடைவார். மனிதர் உலகம் முழுவதையும் ஆதாயமாக்கிக்கொண்டாலும் தம் வாழ்வையே இழப்பாரெனில் அவருக்குக் கிடைக்கும் பயன் என்ன? அவர் தம் வாழ்வுக்கு ஈடாக எதைக் கொடுப்பார்?

மானிட மகன் தம் தந்தையின் மாட்சியோடு தம் வானதூதர்களுடன் வரப் போகிறார்; அப்பொழுது ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் அவரவர் செயலுக்கேற்பக் கைம்மாறு அளிப்பார்” என்றார்.

திருமுழுக்கு யோவானின் தலையை ஒரு தட்டில் வைத்து இப்போதே எனக்குக் கொடும்.

அக்காலத்தில்

ஏரோது, தன் சகோதரனான பிலிப்பின் மனைவி ஏரோதியாவை மனைவியாக்கிக் கொண்டிருந்தான்; அவள் பொருட்டு ஆள் அனுப்பி யோவானைப் பிடித்துக் கட்டிச் சிறையில் அடைத்திருந்தான்.

ஏனெனில் யோவான் ஏரோதிடம், “உம் சகோதரர் மனைவியை நீர் வைத்திருப்பது முறை அல்ல” எனச் சொல்லி வந்தார். அப்போது ஏரோதியா அவர்மீது காழ்ப்புணர்வு கொண்டு, அவரைக் கொலை செய்ய விரும்பினாள்; ஆனால் அவளால் இயலவில்லை. ஏனெனில் யோவான் நேர்மையும் தூய்மையும் உள்ளவர் என்பதை ஏரோது அறிந்து அஞ்சி அவருக்குப் பாதுகாப்பு அளித்துவந்தான். அவர் சொல்லைக் கேட்டு மிகக் குழப்பமுற்ற போதிலும், அவருக்கு மனமுவந்து செவிசாய்த்தான்.

ஒரு நாள் ஏரோதியாவுக்கு நல்ல வாய்ப்பு ஒன்று கிடைத்தது. ஏரோது தன் பிறந்த நாளில் அரசவையினருக்கும், ஆயிரத்தவர் தலைவர்களுக்கும் கலிலேய முதன்மைக் குடிமக்களுக்கும் ஒரு விருந்து படைத்தான்.

அப்போது ஏரோதியாவின் மகள் உள்ளே வந்து நடனமாடி ஏரோதையும் விருந்தினரையும் அகமகிழச் செய்தாள். அரசன் அச்சிறுமியிடம், “உனக்கு என்ன வேண்டுமானாலும் கேள், தருகிறேன்” என்றான். “நீ என்னிடம் எது கேட்டாலும், ஏன் என் அரசில் பாதியையே கேட்டாலும் உனக்குத் தருகிறேன்” என்றும் ஆணையிட்டுக் கூறினான்.

அவள் வெளியே சென்று, “நான் என்ன கேட்கலாம்?” என்று தன் தாயை வினவினாள். அவள், “திருமுழுக்கு யோவானின் தலையைக் கேள்” என்றாள்.

உடனே சிறுமி அரசனிடம் விரைந்து வந்து, “திருமுழுக்கு யோவானின் தலையை ஒரு தட்டில் வைத்து இப்போதே எனக்குக் கொடும்” என்று கேட்டாள்.

இதைக் கேட்ட அரசன் மிக வருந்தினான். ஆனாலும் விருந்தினர் முன் தான் ஆணையிட்டதால் அவளுக்கு அதை மறுக்க விரும்பவில்லை. உடனே அரசன் ஒரு காவலனை அனுப்பி யோவானுடைய தலையைக் கொண்டு வருமாறு பணித்தான். அவன் சென்று சிறையில் அவருடைய தலையை வெட்டி, அதை ஒரு தட்டில் கொண்டு வந்து அச்சிறுமியிடம் கொடுக்க, அவளும் அதைத் தன் தாயிடம் கொடுத்தாள்.

இதைக் கேள்வியுற்ற யோவானுடைய சீடர்கள் வந்து அவருடைய உடலை எடுத்துச் சென்று ஒரு கல்லறையில் வைத்தார்கள்.

கிறிஸ்துவே கடவுளிடமிருந்து நமக்கு வரும் ஞானம். அவரே நம்மை ஏற்புடைவராக்கித் தூயவராக்கி மீட்கின்றார். எனவே மறைநூலில் எழுதியுள்ளவாறு, “பெருமை பாராட்ட விரும்புகிறவர் ஆண்டவரைக் குறித்தே பெருமை பாராட்டட்டும்.”

At that time: Herod sent and seized John and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, because he had married her. For John had been saying to Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.” And Herodias had a grudge against him and wanted to put him to death. But she could not, for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and he kept him safe. When he heard him, he was greatly perplexed, and yet he heard him gladly. But an opportunity came when Herod on his birthday gave a banquet for his nobles and military commanders and the leading men of Galilee. For when Herodias’s daughter came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his guests. And the king said to the girl, “Ask me for whatever you wish, and I will give it to you.” And he vowed to her, “Whatever you ask me, I will give you, up to half of my kingdom.” And she went out and said to her mother, “For what should I ask?” And she said, “The head of John the Baptist.” And she came in immediately with haste to the king and asked, saying, “I want you to give me at once the head of John the Baptist on a platter.” And the king was exceedingly sorry, but because of his oaths and his guests he did not want to break his word to her. And immediately the king sent an executioner with orders to bring John’s head. He went and beheaded him in the prison and brought his head on a platter and gave it to the girl, and the girl gave it to her mother. When his disciples heard of it, they came and took his body and laid it in a tomb.

இயேசு தம் சீடர்களுக்கு உவமையாகக் கூறியது: “விண்ணரசு எவ்வாறு இருக்கும் என்பதைப் பின்வரும் நிகழ்ச்சி வாயிலாக விளக்கலாம்: மணமகனை எதிர்கொள்ள கன்னித் தோழியர் பத்துப் பேர் தங்கள் விளக்குகளை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றார்கள். அவர்களுள் ஐந்து பேர் அறிவிலிகள்; ஐந்து பேர் முன்மதி உடையவர்கள். அறிவிலிகள் ஐவரும் தங்கள் விளக்குகளை எடுத்துச் சென்றார்கள்; ஆனால் தங்களோடு எண்ணெய் எடுத்துச் செல்லவில்லை. முன்மதியுடையோர் தங்கள் விளக்குகளுடன் கலங்களில் எண்ணெயும் எடுத்துச் சென்றனர். மணமகன் வரக் காலந் தாழ்த்தவே அனைவரும் தூக்க மயக்கத்தால் உறங்கிவிட்டனர்.

நள்ளிரவில், ‘இதோ மணமகன் வருகிறார். அவரை எதிர்கொள்ள வாருங்கள்’ என்ற உரத்த குரல் ஒலித்தது. மணமகளின் தோழியர் எல்லாரும் எழுந்து தங்கள் விளக்குகளை ஒழுங்குபடுத்தினர். அப்போது அறிவிலிகள் முன்மதியுடையோரைப் பார்த்து, ‘எங்கள் விளக்குகள் அணைந்துகொண்டிருக்கின்றன; உங்கள் எண்ணெயில் எங்களுக்கும் கொடுங்கள்’ என்றார்கள். முன்மதியுடையவர்கள் மறுமொழியாக, ‘உங்களுக்கும் எங்களுக்கும் எண்ணெய் போதுமான அளவு இராமல் போகலாம். எனவே, வணிகரிடம் போய் நீங்களே வாங்கிக் கொள்வதுதான் நல்லது’ என்றார்கள்.

அவர்களும் வாங்கப் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றார்கள். அப்போது மணமகன் வந்து விட்டார். ஆயத்தமாய் இருந்தவர்கள் அவரோடு திருமண மண்டபத்துக்குள் புகுந்தார்கள். கதவும் அடைக்கப்பட்டது. பிறகு மற்றத் தோழிகளும் வந்து, ‘ஐயா, ஐயா, எங்களுக்குக் கதவைத் திறந்துவிடும்’ என்றார்கள். அவர் மறுமொழியாக, ‘உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்; எனக்கு உங்களைத் தெரியாது’ என்றார். எனவே விழிப்பாய் இருங்கள்; ஏனெனில் அவர் வரும் நாளோ, வேளையோ உங்களுக்குத் தெரியாது.”

கிறிஸ்துவின் சிலுவை பிற இனத்தாருக்கு மடமையாகவும் அழைக்கப்பட்டவர்களுக்கு கடவுளின் வல்லமையும் ஞானமுமாக உள்ளது.

திருத்தூதர் பவுல் கொரிந்தியருக்கு எழுதிய முதல் திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 1: 17-25  

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

திருமுழுக்குக் கொடுப்பதற்கு அல்ல, நற்செய்தியை அறிவிக்கவே கிறிஸ்து என்னை அனுப்பினார். மனித ஞானத்தின் அடிப்படையிலான சொற்களில் இந்நற்செய்தியை அறிவித்தலாகாது. அவ்வாறு அறிவித்தால் கிறிஸ்துவின் சிலுவை பொருளற்றுப் போய்விடும். சிலுவை பற்றிய செய்தி அழிந்துபோகிறவர்களுக்கு மடமையே. ஆனால், மீட்புப் பெறும் நமக்கோ அது கடவுளின் வல்லமை.

ஏனெனில், “ஞானிகளின் ஞானத்தை அழிப்பேன், அறிஞர்களின் அறிவை வெறுமையாக்குவேன்” என்று மறைநூலில் எழுதியுள்ளது. இவ்வுலகைச் சார்ந்த ஞானி எங்கே? அறிவாளி எங்கே? வாதிடுவோர் எங்கே? இவ்வுலக ஞானம் மடமை எனக் கடவுள் காட்டிவிட்டார் அல்லவா? கடவுளுடைய ஞானத்தால் அவரை அறிந்துகொள்ள முடியும். ஆனால் உலகினர் தம் ஞானத்தால் கடவுளை அறிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை. எனவே மடமை என்று கருதப்பட்ட நற்சய்தியைப் பறைசாற்றியதன் வழியாக நம்பிக்கை கொண்டோரை மீட்கக் கடவுள் திருவுளம் கொண்டார். யூதர்கள் அரும் அடையாளங்கள் வேண்டும் என்று கேட்கிறார்கள்; கிரேக்கர் ஞானத்தை நாடுகிறார்கள். ஆனால் நாங்கள் சிலுவையில் அறையப்பட்ட கிறிஸ்துவைப் பற்றிப் பறைசாற்றுகிறோம். அச்சிலுவை யூதருக்குத் தடைக் கல்லாகவும் பிற இனத்தாருக்கு மடமையாயும் இருக்கிறது. ஆனால் அழைக்கப்பட்டவர்கள், யூதரானாலும் கிரேக்கரானாலும், அவர்களுக்குக் கிறிஸ்து கடவுளின் வல்லமையும் ஞானமுமாய் இருக்கிறார். ஏனெனில் மனித ஞானத்தை விடக் கடவுளின் மடமை ஞானம் மிக்கது; மனித வலிமையை விட அவருடைய வலுவின்மை வலிமை மிக்கது.

Brethren: Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel, and not with words of eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power. For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.” Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. இயேசு தம் சீடரிடம் கூறியது: “விழிப்பாய் இருங்கள்; ஏனெனில் உங்கள் ஆண்டவர் எந்த நாளில் வருவார் என உங்களுக்குத் தெரியாது. இரவில் எந்தக் காவல் வேளையில் திருடன் வருவான் என்று வீட்டு உரிமையாளருக்குத் தெரிந்திருந்தால் அவர் விழித்திருந்து தம் வீட்டில் கன்னமிட விடமாட்டார் என்பதை அறிவீர்கள். எனவே நீங்களும் ஆயத்தமாய் இருங்கள். ஏனெனில் நீங்கள் நினையாத நேரத்தில் மானிட மகன் வருவார்.

தம் வீட்டு வேலையாள்களுக்கு வேளாவேளை உணவு பரிமாறத் தலைவர் அமர்த்திய நம்பிக்கைக்கு உரியவரும் அறிவாளியுமான பணியாளர் யார்? தலைவர் வந்து பார்க்கும்போது தம் பணியைச் செய்துகொண்டிருப்பவரே அப்பணியாளர். அவர் பேறுபெற்றவர். அவரைத் தம் உடைமைகளுக்கெல்லாம் அதிகாரியாக அவர் அமர்த்துவார் என உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்.

அப்பணியாள் பொல்லாதவனாய் இருந்தால், தன் தலைவர் வரக் காலந் தாழ்த்துவார் எனத் தம் உள்ளத்தில் சொல்லிக் கொண்டு, தன் உடன்பணியாளரை அடிக்கவும் குடிகாரருடன் உண்ணவும் குடிக்கவும் தொடங்குவான். அப்பணியாள் எதிர்பாராத நாளில், அறியாத நேரத்தில் அவனுடைய தலைவர் வருவார். அவர் அவனைக் கண்டந்துண்டமாய் வெட்டி வெளிவேடக்காரருக்கு உரிய இடத்திற்குத் தள்ளுவார். அங்கே அழுகையும் அங்கலாய்ப்பும் இருக்கும்.”
