பொன்மொழிகள் பல.

நீதிமொழிகள் நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 21: 1-6, 10-13

மன்னவன் மனம் ஆண்டவரின் கைக்குள் அடங்கியிருக்கிறது; வாய்க்கால் நீரைப் போல அவர் அதைத் தம் விருப்பப்படி திருப்பி விடுகிறார். மனிதருடைய நடத்தையெல்லாம் அவர் பார்வையில் குற்றமற்றதாய்த் தோன்றலாம். ஆனால் ஆண்டவர் அவர் உள்ளெண்ணத்தைச் சீர்தூக்கிப் பார்க்கிறார்.

பலி செலுத்துவதை விட நேர்மையாகவும் நியாயமாகவும் நடப்பதே ஆண்டவருக்கு உவப்பளிக்கும்.

மேட்டிமையான பார்வை, இறுமாப்புக் கொண்ட உள்ளம் - இவை பொல்லாரிடம் பளிச்சென்று காணப்படும் பாவங்கள்.

திட்டமிட்டு ஊக்கத்துடன் உழைப்பவரிடம் செல்வம் சேரும் என்பது திண்ணம்; பதற்றத்துடன் வேலை செய்பவர் பற்றாக்குறையில் இருப்பார்.

ஒருவர் பொய் பேசிச் சேர்க்கும் பொருள், காற்றாய்ப் பறந்து விடும்; அவரது உயிரையும் அது வாங்கி விடும்.

பொல்லார் மனம் தீமை செய்வதில் நாட்டங்கொள்ளும்; தமக்கு அடுத்திருப்பாரை அவர்கள் கனிவுடன் பார்ப்பதும் இல்லை. ஏளனம் செய்வோரை அடிக்கும்போது அதைக் காணும் பேதையராவது படிப்பினை பெறுவர்; உணர்வுள்ளவருக்கு அறிவு புகட்டும்போது அவர் மேலும் அறிவுடையவராவார். நீதிமிகு இறைவன் பொல்லாருடைய வீட்டைக் கவனித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார்.

அவர்களைத் தீச்செயல் காரணமாகத் தூக்கி எறிந்து அழித்து விடுகிறார். ஏழை கூக்குரலிடும்போது எவன் காதைப் பொத்திக் கொள்கிறானோ, அவன் தானே உதவிக்காக மன்றாடும்போது எவரும் அவனுக்குச் செவிகொடுக்க மாட்டார்.

It is not the healthy who need the doctor, but the sick.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Matthew 9:9-13 

As Jesus was walking on, he saw a man named Matthew sitting by the customs house, and he said to him, ‘Follow me.’ And he got up and followed him.

  While he was at dinner in the house it happened that a number of tax collectors and sinners came to sit at the table with Jesus and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, ‘Why does your master eat with tax collectors and sinners?’ When he heard this he replied, ‘It is not the healthy who need the doctor, but the sick. Go and learn the meaning of the words: What I want is mercy, not sacrifice. And indeed I did not come to call the virtuous, but sinners.’

We are all to come to unity, fully mature in the knowledge of the Son of God.

A Reading from the Letter of St.Paul to the Ephesians 4:1-7,11-13. 

I, the prisoner in the Lord, implore you to lead a life worthy of your vocation. Bear with one another charitably, in complete selflessness, gentleness and patience. Do all you can to preserve the unity of the Spirit by the peace that binds you together. There is one Body, one Spirit, just as you were all called into one and the same hope when you were called. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God who is Father of all, over all, through all and within all.

  Each one of us, however, has been given his own share of grace, given as Christ allotted it. To some, his gift was that they should be apostles; to some, prophets; to some, evangelists; to some, pastors and teachers; so that the saints together make a unity in the work of service, building up the body of Christ. In this way we are all to come to unity in our faith and in our knowledge of the Son of God, until we become the perfect Man, fully mature with the fullness of Christ himself.

மத்தேயு என்பவர் சுங்கச்சாவடியில் அமர்ந்திருந்ததை இயேசு கண்டார்; அவரிடம், “என்னைப் பின்பற்றி வா” என்றார். அவரும் எழுந்து இயேசுவைப் பின்பற்றிச் சென்றார். பின்பு அவருடைய வீட்டில் பந்தியில் அமர்ந்திருந்த போது வரிதண்டுபவர்கள், பாவிகள் ஆகிய பலர் வந்து இயேசுவோடும் அவருடைய சீடரோடும் விருந்துண்டனர்.

இதைக் கண்ட பரிசேயர் அவருடைய சீடரிடம், “உங்கள் போதகர் வரி தண்டுபவர்களோடும் பாவிகளோடும் சேர்ந்து உண்பது ஏன்?” என்று கேட்டனர். இயேசு இதைக் கேட்டவுடன், “நோயற்றவர்க்கு அல்ல, நோயுற்றவர்க்கே மருத்துவர் தேவை. ‘பலியை அல்ல, இரக்கத்தையே விரும்புகிறேன்’ என்பதன் கருத்தை நீங்கள் போய்க் கற்றுக்கொள்ளுங்கள்; ஏனெனில் நேர்மையாளரை அல்ல, பாவிகளையே அழைக்க வந்தேன்” என்றார்.

இறைமக்களை ஆயத்தப்படுத்தவும் தம் மறையுடலைக் கட்டியெழுப்பவுமே கிறிஸ்து எங்களை ஏற்படுத்தினார்.

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

ஆண்டவர் பொருட்டுக் கைதியாக இருக்கும் நான் உங்களைக் கெஞ்சிக் கேட்கிறேன்; நீங்கள் பெற்றுக்கொண்ட அழைப்புக்கு ஏற்ப வாழுங்கள். முழு மனத்தாழ்மையோடும் கனிவோடும் பொறுமையோடும் ஒருவரையொருவர் அன்புடன் தாங்கி, அமைதியுடன் இணைந்து வாழ்ந்து, தூய ஆவி அருளும் ஒருமைப்பாட்டைக் காத்துக்கொள்ள முழு முயற்சி செய்யுங்கள்.

நீங்கள் ஒரே எதிர்நோக்கு கொண்டு வாழ அழைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள். ஒரே எதிர்நோக்கு இருப்பதுபோல, உடலும் ஒன்றே; தூய ஆவியும் ஒன்றே. அவ்வாறே ஆண்டவர் ஒருவரே; நாம் கொண்டுள்ள நம்பிக்கை ஒன்றே; திருமுழுக்கு ஒன்றே. எல்லாருக்கும் கடவுளும் தந்தையுமானவர் ஒருவரே; அவர் எல்லாருக்கும் மேலானவர்; எல்லார் மூலமாகவும் செயலாற்றுபவர்; எல்லாருக்குள்ளும் இருப்பவர்.

கிறிஸ்து கொடுக்க விரும்பும் அளவுக்கேற்ப நம் ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் அருள் அளிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. அவரே சிலரைத் திருத்தூதராகவும், சிலரை இறைவாக்கினராகவும், வேறு சிலரை நற்செய்தியாளர்களாகவும், ஆயர்களாகவும், போதகர்களாகவும் ஏற்படுத்தினார். திருத்தொண்டாற்ற இறைமக்களை ஆயத்தப்படுத்தவும், கிறிஸ்துவின் உடலைக் கட்டி எழுப்பவும் இவர்களை அவர் ஏற்படுத்தினார். அதனால் நாம் எல்லாரும் இறைமகனைப் பற்றிய அறிவிலும் நம்பிக்கையிலும் ஒருமைப்பாட்டை அடைவோம். கிறிஸ்துவிடம் காணப்பட்ட நிறைவைப் பெறுமளவுக்கு நாம் முதிர்ச்சி அடைவோம்.

Why be envious because I am generous?

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a landowner going out at daybreak to hire workers for his vineyard. He made an agreement with the workers for one denarius a day, and sent them to his vineyard. Going out at about the third hour he saw others standing idle in the market place and said to them, “You go to my vineyard too and I will give you a fair wage.” So they went. At about the sixth hour and again at about the ninth hour, he went out and did the same. Then at about the eleventh hour he went out and found more men standing round, and he said to them, “Why have you been standing here idle all day?” “Because no one has hired us” they answered. He said to them, “You go into my vineyard too.” In the evening, the owner of the vineyard said to his bailiff, “Call the workers and pay them their wages, starting with the last arrivals and ending with the first.” So those who were hired at about the eleventh hour came forward and received one denarius each. When the first came, they expected to get more, but they too received one denarius each. They took it, but grumbled at the landowner. “The men who came last” they said “have done only one hour, and you have treated them the same as us, though we have done a heavy day’s work in all the heat.” He answered one of them and said, “My friend, I am not being unjust to you; did we not agree on one denarius? Take your earnings and go. I choose to pay the last comer as much as I pay you. Have I no right to do what I like with my own? Why be envious because I am generous?” Thus the last will be first, and the first, last.’
