எகிப்து நாட்டினின்று இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களை வெளியேறச் செய்தபோது ஆண்டவர் விழித்திருந்த இரவு இதுவே!

விடுதலைப் பயண நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 12: 37-42

அந்நாள்களில்

இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் இராம்சேசிலிருந்து சுக்கோத்துக்கு இடம் பெயர்ந்து சென்றனர். இவர்களில் குழந்தைகள் தவிர நடந்து செல்லக்கூடிய ஆடவர் மட்டும் ஏறத்தாழ ஆறு லட்சம் பேர் ஆவர். மேலும் அவர்களோடு பல இனப் பெருந்திரளும், ஆட்டு மந்தை, மாட்டு மந்தை என்று பெருந் தொகையான கால்நடைகளும் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றன. எகிப்திலிருந்து கொண்டு வந்த பிசைந்த மாவைக் கொண்டு அவர்கள் சுட்டது புளிப்பற்ற அப்பங்கள். ஏனெனில் மாவு இன்னும் புளிக்காமல் இருந்தது. அவர்கள் எகிப்திலிருந்து துரத்தப்பட்டதாலும், சற்றும் தாமதம் செய்ய இயலாமற் போனதாலும் தங்களுக்கென வழியுணவு தயாரித்து வைத்திருக்கவில்லை!

எகிப்தில் குடியிருந்த இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் அங்கு வாழ்ந்த காலம் நானூற்று முப்பது ஆண்டுகள்! நானூற்று முப்பதாம் ஆண்டு முடிவு பெற்ற அதே நாளில் ஆண்டவரின் படைத்திரள் எல்லாம் எகிப்து நாட்டினின்று வெளியேறியது. எகிப்து நாட்டினின்று அவர்களை வெளியேறச் செய்தபோது ஆண்டவர் விழித்திருந்த இரவு இதுவே! தலைமுறை தோறும் இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் அனைவரும் ஆண்டவருக்கென்று திருவிழிப்பு கொண்டாட வேண்டிய இரவும் இதுவே.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Matthew 12: 14-21 

The Pharisees went out and began to plot against Jesus, discussing how to destroy him.

  Jesus knew this and withdrew from the district. Many followed him and he cured them all, but warned them not to make him known. This was to fulfil the prophecy of Isaiah:

Here is my servant whom I have chosen,

my beloved, the favourite of my soul.

I will endow him with my spirit,

and he will proclaim the true faith to the nations.

He will not brawl or shout,

nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets.

He will not break the crushed reed,

nor put out the smouldering wick

till he has led the truth to victory:

in his name the nations will put their hope.

The sons of Israel leave Egypt hurriedly by night.

A Reading from the Book of Exodus 12: 37-42. 

The sons of Israel left Rameses for Succoth, about six hundred thousand on the march – all men – not counting their families. People of various sorts joined them in great numbers; there were flocks, too, and herds in immense droves. They baked cakes with the dough which they had brought from Egypt, unleavened because the dough was not leavened; they had been driven out of Egypt, with no time for dallying, and had not provided themselves with food for the journey. The time that the sons of Israel had spent in Egypt was four hundred and thirty years. And on the very day the four hundred and thirty years ended, all the array of the Lord left the land of Egypt. The night, when the Lord kept vigil to bring them out of the land of Egypt, must be kept as a vigil in honour of the Lord for all their generations.

ஓய்வு நாளும் மானிட மகனுக்குக் கட்டுப்பட்டதே.

✠ மத்தேயு எழுதிய தூய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 12: 1-8

அன்று ஓர் ஓய்வு நாள். இயேசு வயல் வழியே சென்றுகொண்டிருந்தார். பசியாய் இருந்ததால் அவருடைய சீடர் கதிர்களைக் கொய்து தின்னத் தொடங்கினர். பரிசேயர்கள் இதைப் பார்த்து இயேசுவிடம், “பாரும், ஓய்வுநாளில் செய்யக் கூடாததை உம் சீடர்கள் செய்கிறார்கள்” என்றார்கள்.

அவரோ அவர்களிடம், “தாமும் தம்முடன் இருந்தவர்களும் பசியாய் இருந்தபோது தாவீது என்ன செய்தார் என்பதை நீங்கள் வாசித்தது இல்லையா? இறை இல்லத்திற்குள் சென்று அவரும் அவரோடு இருந்தவர்களும் அர்ப்பண அப்பங்களை உண்டார்கள். குருக்கள் மட்டுமே உண்ணக்கூடிய அப்பங்களை அவர்கள் உண்டது தவறல்லவா?

மேலும் ஓய்வு நாள்களில் குருக்கள் கோவிலில் பணியாற்றுவது ஓய்வு நாளை மீறும் குற்றமாகாது என நீங்கள் திருச்சட்டத்தில் வாசித்ததில்லையா? ஆனால் கோவிலை விடப் பெரியவர் இங்கே இருக்கிறார் என நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

‘பலியை அல்ல, இரக்கத்தையே விரும்புகிறேன்’ என்பதன் கருத்தை நீங்கள் அறிந்திருந்தால் குற்றமற்ற இவர்களைக் கண்டனம் செய்திருக்க மாட்டீர்கள். ஆம், ஓய்வு நாளும் மானிட மகனுக்குக் கட்டுப்பட்டதே” என்றார்.

அந்நாள்களில்

மோசேயும் ஆரோனும் அருஞ்செயல்கள் அனைத்தையும் பார்வோன் முன் செய்தனர். ஆண்டவர் பார்வோனின் மனம் இறுகிவிடச் செய்ததால், அவன் இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களைத் தன் நாட்டிலிருந்து போகவிடவில்லை!

எகிப்து நாட்டில் ஆண்டவர் மோசேக்கும் ஆரோனுக்கும் பின்வருமாறு கூறினார்: “உங்களுக்கு மாதங்களில் தலையாயது இம்மாதமே! ஆண்டில் உங்களுக்கு முதல் மாதமும் இதுவே! இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் கூட்டமைப்பு முழுவதற்கும் நீங்கள் அறிவியுங்கள்; அவர்கள் இம்மாதம் பத்தாம் நாள், குடும்பத்துக்கு ஓர் ஆடு, வீட்டிற்கு ஓர் ஆடு என்று தேர்ந்தெடுத்துக் கொள்ளட்டும். ஓர் ஆட்டினை உண்ண ஒரு வீட்டில் போதிய ஆள்கள் இல்லையெனில், உண்போரின் எண்ணிக்கைக்கும் உண்ணும் அளவுக்கும் ஏற்ப அண்டை வீட்டாரைச் சேர்த்துக் கொள்ளட்டும்.

ஆடு குறைபாடற்றதாக, கிடாயாக, ஒரு வயது குட்டியாக இருக்க வேண்டும். தேர்ந்தெடுப்பது வெள்ளாடாகவோ செம்மறியாடாகவோ இருக்கலாம். இம்மாதம் பதினான்காம் நாள்வரை அதை வைத்துப் பேணுங்கள். அந்நாள் மாலை மங்கும் வேளையில் இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் கூட்டமைப்பின் அனைத்துச் சபையும் அதை வெட்ட வேண்டும். இரத்தத்தில் சிறிதளவு எடுத்து, உண்ணும் வீடுகளின் இரு கதவு நிலைகளிலும், மேல் சட்டத்திலும் பூச வேண்டும்.

இறைச்சியை அந்த இரவிலேயே உண்ண வேண்டும். நெருப்பில் அதனை வாட்டி, புளிப்பற்ற அப்பத்தோடும் கசப்புக் கீரையோடும் உண்ண வேண்டும். அதைப் பச்சையாகவோ நீரில் வேகவைத்தோ உண்ணாமல் தலை, கால்கள், உட்பாகங்கள் முழுவதுமாக நெருப்பில் வாட்டி, அதனை உண்ணுங்கள். அதில் எதையுமே விடியற்காலைவரை மீதி வைக்க வேண்டாம். காலைவரை எஞ்சியிருப்பதை நெருப்பில் சுட்டெரியுங்கள். நீங்கள் அதனை உண்ணும் முறையாவது: இடையில் கச்சை கட்டி, கால்களில் காலணி அணிந்து, கையில் கோல் பிடித்து விரைவாக உண்ணுங்கள். இது ‘ஆண்டவரின் பாஸ்கா'. அதாவது: ஆண்டவருடைய கடத்தல்.

ஏனெனில், நான் இன்றிரவிலேயே எகிப்து நாடெங்கும் கடந்து சென்று, எகிப்து நாட்டில் மனிதர் தொடங்கி விலங்கு வரை அனைத்து ஆண்பால் தலைப்பிறப்பையும் சாகடிப்பேன். எகிப்தின் தெய்வங்கள் அனைத்தின் மேலும் நான் தீர்ப்பிடுவேன். நானே ஆண்டவர்! இரத்தம் நீங்கள் இருக்கும் வீடுகளில் உங்களுக்கு அடையாளமாக இருக்கும். நான் இரத்தத்தைக் கண்டு உங்களைக் கடந்து செல்வேன். எகிப்து நாட்டில் நான் அவர்களைச் சாகடிக்கும்போது, கொல்லும் கொள்ளை நோய் எதுவும் உங்கள் மேல் வராது.

இந்நாள் உங்களுக்கு ஒரு நினைவு நாளாக விளங்கும். இதனை ஆண்டவரின் விழாவாக நீங்கள் தலைமுறைதோறும் கொண்டாடுங்கள். இந்த விழா உங்களுக்கு நிலையான நியமமாக இருப்பதாக!”

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to  St.Matthew 12:1-8 

Jesus took a walk one sabbath day through the cornfields. His disciples were hungry and began to pick ears of corn and eat them. The Pharisees noticed it and said to him, ‘Look, your disciples are doing something that is forbidden on the sabbath.’ But he said to them, ‘Have you not read what David did when he and his followers were hungry – how he went into the house of God and how they ate the loaves of offering which neither he nor his followers were allowed to eat, but which were for the priests alone? Or again, have you not read in the Law that on the sabbath day the Temple priests break the sabbath without being blamed for it? Now here, I tell you, is something greater than the Temple. And if you had understood the meaning of the words: What I want is mercy, not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the blameless. For the Son of Man is master of the sabbath.’

A reading from the book of Exodus 11: 10-12:14

Moses and Aaron worked many wonders in the presence of Pharaoh. But the Lord made Pharaoh’s heart stubborn, and he did not let the sons of Israel leave his country.

  The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt:

  ‘This month is to be the first of all the others for you, the first month of your year. Speak to the whole community of Israel and say, “On the tenth day of this month each man must take an animal from the flock, one for each family: one animal for each household. If the household is too small to eat the animal, a man must join with his neighbour, the nearest to his house, as the number of persons requires. You must take into account what each can eat in deciding the number for the animal. It must be an animal without blemish, a male one year old; you may take it from either sheep or goats. You must keep it till the fourteenth day of the month when the whole assembly of the community of Israel shall slaughter it between the two evenings. Some of the blood must then be taken and put on the two doorposts and the lintel of the houses where it is eaten. That night, the flesh is to be eaten, roasted over the fire; it must be eaten with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. Do not eat any of it raw or boiled, but roasted over the fire, head, feet and entrails. You must not leave any over till the morning: whatever is left till morning you are to burn. You shall eat it like this: with a girdle round your waist, sandals on your feet, a staff in your hand. You shall eat it hastily: it is a passover in honour of the Lord. That night, I will go through the land of Egypt and strike down all the first-born in the land of Egypt, man and beast alike, and I shall deal out punishment to all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord! The blood shall serve to mark the houses that you live in. When I see the blood I will pass over you and you shall escape the destroying plague when I strike the land of Egypt. This day is to be a day of remembrance for you, and you must celebrate it as a feast in the Lord’s honour. For all generations you are to declare it a day of festival, for ever.”’
