ஆண்டவர் மோசேயிடம் கூறியது:

நீங்கள் சபையாகக் கூடிக் குறிப்பிட்ட நாள்களில் புனிதமாய்க் கடைப்பிடிக்க வேண்டிய ஆண்டவரின் பண்டிகை நாள்களாவன: முதல் மாதம் பதினான்காம் நாள் மாலையில் ஆண்டவருக்கான பாஸ்கா. அந்த மாதம் பதினைந்தாம் நாள் ஆண்டவருக்கான புளிப்பற்ற அப்பப் பண்டிகை; ஏழு நாள் புளிப்பற்ற அப்பங்களை உண்பீர்கள். பண்டிகையின் முதல் நாள் சபை கூடும் புனித நாள். அன்று வேலை செய்யலாகாது. ஏழு நாளும் ஆண்டவருக்கு எரிபலி செலுத்த வேண்டும். ஏழாம் நாள் சபை கூடும் புனித நாள். அன்று வேலை செய்யலாகாது.

ஆண்டவர் மோசேயிடம் கூறியது: இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களிடம் நீ சொல்ல வேண்டியது: நான் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கும் நாட்டில் நீங்கள் வந்து அறுவடை செய்யும்போது அறுவடையின் முதல் விளைச்சலான ஒரு கதிர்க் கட்டினைக் குருவிடம் கொண்டுவர வேண்டும். உங்கள் சார்பாக ஏற்கத் தக்கதாக, குரு அந்தத் தானியக் கதிர்க்கட்டினை, ஓய்வு நாளுக்குப் பின்வரும் அடுத்த நாளில் ஆண்டவரின் திருமுன் ஆரத்திப் பலியாக்குவார்.

ஆரத்திப் பலியாகக் கதிர்க் கட்டினைக் கொண்டு வந்த ஓய்வு நாளின் மறு நாளிலிருந்து ஏழு வாரங்களைக் கணக்கிடவும். ஏழாம் ஓய்வு நாளுக்கு மறு நாளான ஐம்பதாம் நாளில் ஆண்டவருக்குப் புது உணவுப் படையலைச் செலுத்துங்கள்.

அந்த ஏழாம் மாதம் பத்தாம் நாள், பாவக் கழுவாய் நாள்; புனித சபை கூடும் நாள். அன்று நீங்கள் உங்களையே தாழ்த்திக் கொண்டு, ஆண்டவருக்கு எரிபலி செலுத்த வேண்டும்.

ஏழாம் மாதம் பதினைந்தாம் நாளன்று ஆண்டவரின் கூடாரப் பெருவிழா தொடங்குகின்றது. அது ஏழு நாள்கள் தொடரும். முதல் நாள் திருப்பேரவை கூடும் நாள்; அன்று எத்தகைய வேலையையும் செய்ய வேண்டாம். ஏழு நாள்களும் ஆண்டவருக்கு நெருப்புப் பலி செலுத்துங்கள். எட்டாம் நாளன்று திருப்பேரவை கூடும்; அன்றும் ஆண்டவருக்கு நெருப்புப் பலி செலுத்துங்கள். அது நிறைவு நாள். அன்று எத்தகைய வேலையையும் செய்யலாகாது.

ஓய்வு நாளில் ஆண்டவருக்குச் செலுத்தும் காணிக்கைகள், நேர்ச்சைகள், தன்னார்வப் பலிகள் தவிர, அந்தந்த நாள்களுக்கு ஏற்ப எரிபலி, உணவுப் படையல், இரத்தப் பலி, நீர்மப் படையல் முதலிய பலிகளைச் செலுத்தத் தக்கதாகவும் சபையாய்க் கூடி அந்த நாளைப் புனிதமாய்க் கடைப்பிடியுங்கள். இவையே நீங்கள் கொண்டாட வேண்டிய விழாக்கள்.

Coming to his own country he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, “Where did this man get this wisdom and these mighty works? Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary? And are not his brethren James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? And are not all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all this?”

And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.” And he did not do many mighty works there, because of their unbelief.

A reading from the book of Leviticus 23 :1, 4-11,15-16, 27, 34-37

The LORD said to Moses, “These are the appointed feasts of the LORD, the holy convocations, which you shall proclaim at the time appointed for them. In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month in the evening, is the LORD’s passover. And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread to the LORD; seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work. But you shall present an offering by fire to the LORD seven days; on the seventh day is a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work.” And the LORD said to Moses, “Say to the people of Israel, When you come into the land which I give you and reap its harvest, you shall bring the sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest to the priest; and he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, that you may find acceptance; on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it. “And you shall count from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven full weeks shall they be, counting fifty days to the morrow after the seventh sabbath; then you shall present a cereal offering of new grain to the LORD.

“On the tenth day of this seventh month is the day of atonement; it shall be for you a time of holy convocation, and you shall afflict yourselves and present an offering by fire to the LORD. “Say to the people of Israel, On the fifteenth day of this seventh month and for seven days is the feast of booths to the LORD.

On the first day shall be a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work. Seven days you shall present offerings by fire to the LORD; on the eighth day you shall hold a holy convocation and present an offering by fire to the LORD; it is a solemn assembly; you shall do no laborious work. “These are the appointed feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim as times of holy convocation, for presenting to the LORD offerings by fire, burnt offerings and cereal offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings, each on its proper day.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு மக்களை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: “விண்ணரசு கடலில் வீசப்பட்டு எல்லா வகையான மீன்களையும் வாரிக்கொண்டுவரும் வலைக்கு ஒப்பாகும். வலை நிறைந்ததும் அதை இழுத்துக்கொண்டு போய்க் கரையில் உட்கார்ந்து நல்லவற்றைக் கூடைகளில் சேர்த்து வைப்பர்; கெட்டவற்றை வெளியே எறிவர். இவ்வாறே உலக முடிவிலும் நிகழும். வானதூதர் சென்று நேர்மையாளரிடையேயிருந்து தீயோரைப் பிரிப்பர்; பின் அவர்களைத் தீச்சூளையில் தள்ளுவர். அங்கே அழுகையும் அங்கலாய்ப்பும் இருக்கும்."

“இவற்றையெல்லாம் புரிந்துகொண்டீர்களா?” என்று இயேசு கேட்க, அவர்கள், “ஆம்” என்றார்கள். பின்பு அவர், “ஆகையால் விண்ணரசு பற்றிக் கற்றுக்கொண்ட எல்லா மறைநூல் அறிஞரும் தம் கருவூலத்திலிருந்து புதியவற்றையும் பழையவற்றையும் வெளிக்கொணரும் வீட்டு உரிமையாளரைப் போல் இருக்கின்றனர்” என்று அவர்களிடம் கூறினார்.

இவ்வுவமைகளை இயேசு சொல்லி முடித்த பின்பு அவ்விடத்தை விட்டுச் சென்றார்.

ஆண்டவர் கட்டளையிட்டபடியெல்லாம் மோசே செயல்பட்டார். இரண்டாம் ஆண்டில், முதல் மாதம், முதல் தேதியன்று திருஉறைவிடம் எழுப்பப்பட்டது. மோசே திருஉறைவிடத்தை எழுப்பினார்; பாதப் பொருத்துகளை வைத்து அதன்மேல் சட்டங்களைப் பொருத்தினார், குறுக்குச் சட்டங்களையும் பொருத்தினார்; தூண்களையும் நிறுத்தினார். திருஉறைவிடத்தின்மேல் அவர் கூடாரத்தை விரித்தார்; அதற்குமேல் கூடார மேல்விரிப்பை அமைத்தார். இதுவும் ஆண்டவர் மோசேக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே செய்யப்பட்டது. உடன்படிக்கைப் பலகையை அவர் எடுத்து, அதைப் பேழையில் வைத்தார். தண்டுகளைப் பேழையில் செருகினார். இரக்கத்தின் இருக்கையைப் பேழையின்மேல் வைத்தார். திருஉறைவிடத்தினுள் பேழை எடுத்துச் செல்லப்பட்டது. திருத்தூயகத் திரை தொங்கவிடப்பட்டு, உடன்படிக்கைப் பேழை மறைக்கப்பட்டது. இதையும் ஆண்டவர் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே மோசே செய்தார்.

பின்பு, மேகம் சந்திப்புக் கூடாரத்தை மூடிற்று; ஆண்டவரின் மாட்சி திருஉறைவிடத்தை நிரப்பிற்று. சந்திப்புக் கூடாரத்தின் மேலே மேகம் நின்றிருந்ததாலும், ஆண்டவரின் மாட்சி திருஉறைவிடத்தை நிரப்பியதாலும் மோசே உள்ளே நுழைய முடியாமல் போயிற்று. இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் தங்கள் பயணத்தின் ஒவ்வொரு கட்டத்திலும், மேகம் திருஉறைவிடத்தை விட்டு எழும்பும் போதெல்லாம் புறப்பட்டுச் செல்வார்கள். மேகம் எழும்பாதிருக்கும் போதோ, அது மேலே எழும்பும் நாள் வரை, அவர்கள் புறப்பட மாட்டார்கள். ஏனெனில் பயணத்தின் ஒவ்வொரு கட்டத்திலும் திருஉறைவிடத்தின்மேல் பகலில் ஆண்டவரின் மேகம் இருப்பதையும், இரவிலோ அதில் நெருப்பு இருப்பதையும் இஸ்ரயேல் வீட்டார் காண்பார்கள்.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Matthew 13:47-53 

Jesus said to the crowds: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet cast into the sea that brings in a haul of all kinds. When it is full, the fishermen haul it ashore; then, sitting down, they collect the good ones in a basket and throw away those that are no use. This is how it will be at the end of time: the angels will appear and separate the wicked from the just to throw them into the blazing furnace where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.

  ‘Have you understood all this?’ They said, ‘Yes.’ And he said to them, ‘Well then, every scribe who becomes a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out from his storeroom things both new and old.’

  When Jesus had finished these parables he left the district.

The tabernacle is set up

A reading from the book of Exodus 40:16-21,34-38 

Moses did exactly as the Lord had directed him. The tabernacle was set up on the first day of the first month in the second year. Moses erected the tabernacle. He fixed the sockets for it, put up its frames, put its crossbars in position, set up its posts. He spread the tent over the tabernacle and on top of this the covering for the tent, as the Lord had directed Moses. He took the Testimony and placed it inside the ark. He set the shafts to the ark and placed the throne of mercy on it. He brought the ark into the tabernacle and put the screening veil in place; thus he screened the ark of the Lord, as the Lord had directed Moses.

  The cloud covered the Tent of Meeting and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. Moses could not enter the Tent of Meeting because of the cloud that rested on it and because of the glory of the Lord that filled the tabernacle.

  At every stage of their journey, whenever the cloud rose from the tabernacle the sons of Israel would resume their march. If the cloud did not rise, they waited and would not march until it did. For the cloud of the Lord rested on the tabernacle by day, and a fire shone within the cloud by night, for all the House of Israel to see. And so it was for every stage of their journey.
