முன்னர் நான் அவரைப் பழித்துரைத்தேன்; ஆயினும் அவர் எனக்கு இரங்கினார்.

திருத்தூதர் பவுல் திமொத்தேயுவுக்கு எழுதிய முதல் திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 1: 1-2, 12-14

விசுவாச அடிப்படையில் என் உண்மையான பிள்ளை திமொத்தேயுவுக்கு நம் மீட்பராம் கடவுளும், நம்மை எதிர்நோக்குடன் வாழச் செய்யும் கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவும் இட்ட கட்டளையின்படி, கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவின் திருத்தூதனான பவுல் எழுதுவது: தந்தையாம் கடவுளிடமிருந்தும், நம் ஆண்டவராம் இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவிடமிருந்தும் அருளும் இரக்கமும் அமைதியும் உரித்தாகுக!

எனக்கு வலுவூட்டும் நம் ஆண்டவராகிய இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவுக்கு நன்றி செலுத்துகின்றேன். ஏனெனில் நான் நம்பிக்கைக்குரியவன் என்று கருதி அவர் என்னைத் தம் திருத்தொண்டில் அமர்த்தினார். முன்னர் நான் அவரைப் பழித்துரைத்தேன்; துன்புறுத்தினேன்; இழிவுபடுத்தினேன். ஆயினும் நம்பிக்கை கொண்டிராத நிலையில் நான் அவ்வாறு நடந்ததால், அவர் எனக்கு இரங்கினார். இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவோடு இணைந்த நிலையில் ஏற்படும் நம்பிக்கையோடும் அன்போடும் நம் ஆண்டவரின் அருள் அளவின்றிப் பெருகியது.

At that time: Jesus told them a parable: “Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit? A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye’, when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye.”

A reading from the First Letter of St.Paul to Timothy 1:1-2,12-14

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by command of God our Saviour and of Christ Jesus our hope, To Timothy, my true child in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. I thank him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful, appointing me to his service, though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

இயேசு தம் சீடரை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: “நான் சொல்வதைக் கேட்டுக் கொண்டிருக்கும் உங்களுக்குக் கூறுகிறேன்: உங்கள் பகைவரிடம் அன்பு கூருங்கள்; உங்களை வெறுப்போருக்கு நன்மை செய்யுங்கள். உங்களைச் சபிப்போருக்கு ஆசி கூறுங்கள்; உங்களை இகழ்ந்து பேசுவோருக்காக இறைவனிடம் வேண்டுங்கள்.

உங்களை ஒரு கன்னத்தில் அறைபவருக்கு மறு கன்னத்தையும் திருப்பிக் காட்டுங்கள். உங்கள் மேலுடையை எடுத்துக் கொள்பவர் உங்கள் அங்கியையும் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளப் பார்த்தால் அவரைத் தடுக்காதீர்கள்.

உங்களிடம் கேட்கும் எவருக்கும் கொடுங்கள். உங்களுடைய பொருள்களை எடுத்துக்கொள்வோரிடமிருந்து அவற்றைத் திருப்பிக் கேட்காதீர்கள். பிறர் உங்களுக்கு என்ன செய்ய வேண்டும் என்று விரும்புகிறீர்களோ, அதையே நீங்களும் அவர்களுக்குச் செய்யுங்கள். உங்களிடம் அன்பு செலுத்துவோரிடமே நீங்கள் அன்பு செலுத்தினால் உங்களுக்கு வரும் நன்மை என்ன? பாவிகளும் தங்களிடம் அன்பு செலுத்துவோரிடம் அன்பு செலுத்துகிறார்களே. உங்களுக்கு நன்மை செய்பவர்களுக்கே நீங்கள் நன்மை செய்தால் உங்களுக்கு வரும் நன்மை என்ன? பாவிகளும் அவ்வாறு செய்கிறார்களே. திரும்பப் பெற்றுக் கொள்ளலாம் என எதிர்பார்த்து நீங்கள் கடன் கொடுத்தால் உங்களுக்கு வரும் நன்மை என்ன? ஏனெனில், முழுவதையும் திரும்பப் பெற்றுக் கொள்ளலாம் என்னும் நோக்குடன் பாவிகளும் பாவிகளுக்குக் கடன் கொடுக்கிறார்களே.

நீங்கள் உங்கள் பகைவரிடமும் அன்பு செலுத்துங்கள்; அவர்களுக்கு நன்மை செய்யுங்கள்; திரும்பக் கிடைக்கும் என எதிர்பார்க்காமல் கடன் கொடுங்கள். அப்போது உங்கள் கைம்மாறு மிகுதியாய் இருக்கும். நீங்கள் உன்னத கடவுளின் மக்களாய் இருப்பீர்கள். ஏனெனில் அவர் நன்றிகெட்டோருக்கும் பொல்லாதோருக்கும் நன்மை செய்கிறார்.

உங்கள் தந்தை இரக்கமுள்ளவராய் இருப்பதுபோல நீங்களும் இரக்கம் உள்ளவர்களாய் இருங்கள்.

பிறர் குற்றவாளிகள் எனத் தீர்ப்பு அளிக்காதீர்கள்; அப்போதுதான் நீங்களும் தீர்ப்புக்கு உள்ளாகமாட்டீர்கள். மற்றவர்களைக் கண்டனம் செய்யாதீர்கள்; அப்போதுதான் நீங்களும் கண்டனத்துக்கு ஆளாக மாட்டீர்கள். மன்னியுங்கள்; மன்னிப்புப் பெறுவீர்கள். கொடுங்கள்; உங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படும்; அமுக்கிக் குலுக்கிச் சரிந்து விழும்படி நன்றாய் அளந்து உங்கள் மடியில் போடுவார்கள். நீங்கள் எந்த அளவையால் அளக்கிறீர்களோ அதே அளவையால் உங்களுக்கும் அளக்கப்படும்.”

நீங்கள் கடவுளால் தேர்ந்துகொள்ளப்பட்டவர்கள், அவரது அன்பிற்குரிய இறைமக்கள். எனவே அதற்கிசைய பரிவு, இரக்கம், நல்லெண்ணம், மனத்தாழ்மை, கனிவு, பொறுமை ஆகிய பண்புகளால் உங்களை அணிசெய்யுங்கள். ஒருவரை ஒருவர் பொறுத்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள். ஒருவரைப் பற்றி ஒருவருக்கு ஏதாவது முறையீடு இருந்தால் மன்னியுங்கள். ஆண்டவர் உங்களை மன்னித்தது போல நீங்களும் மன்னிக்க வேண்டும்.

இவை அனைத்துக்கும் மேலாக, அன்பையே கொண்டிருங்கள். அதுவே இவை அனைத்தையும் பிணைத்து நிறைவு பெறச் செய்யும். கிறிஸ்து அருளும் அமைதி உங்கள் உள்ளங்களை நெறிப்படுத்துவதாக! இவ்வமைதிக்கென்றே நீங்கள் ஒரே உடலின் உறுப்புகளாக இருக்க அழைக்கப்பட்டீர்கள். நன்றியுள்ளவர்களாய் இருங்கள்.

கிறிஸ்துவைப் பற்றிய நற்செய்தி உங்களுக்குள் நிறைவாகக் குடி கொள்வதாக! முழு ஞானத்தோடு ஒருவருக்கு ஒருவர் கற்பித்து அறிவுரை கூறுங்கள். திருப்பாடல்களையும் புகழ்ப் பாக்களையும் ஆவிக்குரிய பாடல்களையும் நன்றியோடு உளமாரப் பாடிக் கடவுளைப் போற்றுங்கள். எதைச் சொன்னாலும் எதைச் செய்தாலும் அனைத்தையும் ஆண்டவர் இயேசுவின் பெயரால் செய்து அவர் வழியாய்த் தந்தையாம் கடவுளுக்கு நன்றி செலுத்துங்கள்.

At that time: Jesus said to his disciples, “I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back. And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them. If you love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to get back the same amount. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. Brethren: Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
