கடவுள் அன்பாய் இருக்கிறார்.

திருத்தூதர் யோவான் எழுதிய முதல் திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 4: 7-10

அன்பார்ந்தவர்களே,

ஒருவர் மற்றவரிடம் அன்பு செலுத்துவோமாக! ஏனெனில் அன்பு கடவுளிடமிருந்து வருகிறது. அன்பு செலுத்தும் அனைவரும் கடவுளிடமிருந்து பிறந்தவர்கள். அவர்கள் கடவுளை அறிந்துள்ளார்கள். அன்பில்லாதோர் கடவுளை அறிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை; ஏனெனில், கடவுள் அன்பாய் இருக்கிறார்.

நாம் வாழ்வு பெறும் பொருட்டுக் கடவுள் தம் ஒரே மகனை உலகிற்கு அனுப்பினார். இதனால் கடவுள் நம்மீது வைத்த அன்பு வெளிப்பட்டது. நாம் கடவுள் மீது அன்பு கொண்டுள்ளோம் என்பதில் அல்ல, மாறாக அவர் நம்மீது அன்புகொண்டு தம் மகனை நம் பாவங்களுக்குக் கழுவாயாக அனுப்பினார் என்பதில்தான் அன்பின் தன்மை விளங்குகிறது.

At that time: When Jesus went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And he began to teach them many things. And when it grew late, his disciples came to him and said, “This is a desolate place, and the hour is now late. Send them away to go into the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.” But he answered them, “You give them something to eat.” And they said to him, “Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give it to them to eat?” And he said to them, “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.” And when they had found out, they said, “Five, and two fish.” Then he commanded them all to sit down in groups on the green grass. So they sat down in groups, by hundreds and by fifties. And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing and broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before the people. And he divided the two fish among them all. And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and of the fish. And those who ate the loaves were five thousand men.

Let us love one another, since love comes from God.

A Reading from the First Letter of St.John 4:7-10

Beloved, let us love one another,

for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

அக்காலத்தில்

யோவான் கைது செய்யப்பட்டதை இயேசு கேள்விப்பட்டு, கலிலேயாவுக்குப் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றார். அவர் நாசரேத்தைவிட்டு அகன்று செபுலோன், நப்தலி ஆகிய இடங்களின் எல்லையில் கடலோரமாய் அமைந்திருந்த கப்பர்நாகுமுக்குச் சென்று குடியிருந்தார். இறைவாக்கினர் எசாயா உரைத்த பின்வரும் வாக்கு இவ்வாறு நிறைவேறியது:

“செபுலோன் நாடே! நப்தலி நாடே! பெருங்கடல் வழிப் பகுதியே! யோர்தானுக்கு அப்பாலுள்ள நிலப் பரப்பே! பிற இனத்தவர் வாழும் கலிலேயப் பகுதியே! காரிருளில் இருந்த மக்கள் பேரொளியைக் கண்டார்கள். சாவின் நிழல் சூழ்ந்துள்ள நாட்டில் குடியிருப்போர்மேல் சுடரொளி உதித்துள்ளது.”

அதுமுதல் இயேசு, “மனம் மாறுங்கள், ஏனெனில் விண்ணரசு நெருங்கி வந்துவிட்டது” எனப் பறைசாற்றத் தொடங்கினார். அவர் கலிலேயப் பகுதி முழுவதும் சுற்றி வந்தார்; அவர்களுடைய தொழுகைக் கூடங்களில் கற்பித்தார்; விண்ணரசு பற்றிய நற்செய்தியைப் பறைசாற்றினார்; மக்களிடையே இருந்த நோய் நொடிகள் அனைத்தையும் குணமாக்கினார். அவரைப் பற்றிய பேச்சு சிரியா நாடு முழுவதும் பரவியது. பல்வேறு பிணிகளாலும் வாதைகளாலும் வருந்திய நோயாளர், பேய் பிடித்தோர், மதிமயங்கியோர், முடக்குவாதமுற்றோர் ஆகிய அனைவரும் அவரிடம் அழைத்து வரப்பட்டனர். அவர் அவர்களைக் குணமாக்கினார். ஆகவே கலிலேயா, தெக்கப்பொலி, எருசலேம், யூதேயா, யோர்தானுக்கு அக்கரைப் பகுதி ஆகிய இடங்களிலிருந்து வந்த மக்கள் பெருந்திரளாய் அவரைப் பின்தொடர்ந்தனர்.

அன்பார்ந்தவர்களே,

கடவுளிடம் நாம் எதைக் கேட்டாலும் பெற்றுக்கொள்வோம்; ஏனெனில் அவர் கட்டளைகளைக் கடைப்பிடிக்கிறோம்; அவர் திருமுன் அவருக்கு உகந்தவற்றையே செய்து வருகிறோம். கடவுள் நமக்குக் கொடுத்த கட்டளைப்படி, அவருடைய மகன் இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவிடம் நம்பிக்கை கொண்டு, ஒருவர் மற்றவரிடம் அன்பு செலுத்த வேண்டும். இதுவே அவரது கட்டளை. கடவுளுடைய கட்டளைகளைக் கடைப்பிடிப்பவர் அவரோடு இணைந்திருக்கிறார்; கடவுளும் அவரோடு இணைந்திருக்கிறார். கடவுள் நம்மோடு இணைந்திருக்கிறார் என்பதை அவர் நமக்கு அருளிய தூய ஆவியால் அறிந்து கொள்கிறோம்.

அன்பார்ந்தவர்களே, தூய ஆவியின் தூண்டுதல் தமக்கு இருப்பதாகச் சொல்லிக்கொள்ளும் எல்லாரையுமே நம்பிவிடாதீர்கள்; அந்தத் தூண்டுதல் கடவுளிடமிருந்து வருகிறதா எனச் சோதித்தறியுங்கள்; ஏனெனில் போலி இறைவாக்கினர் பலர் உலகெங்கும் தோன்றியுள்ளனர். இயேசு கிறிஸ்து மனிதராக வந்தவர் என்னும் உண்மையை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளும் தூண்டுதல் அனைத்தும் கடவுளிடமிருந்து வருவது. இவ்வாறு கடவுளிடமிருந்து வரும் தூண்டுதல் எது என அறிந்து கொள்வீர்கள். இயேசுவை ஏற்று அறிக்கையிட மறுக்கும் தூண்டுதல் எதுவும் கடவுளிடமிருந்து வருவதல்ல. இதுவே எதிர்க் கிறிஸ்துவிடமிருந்து வரும் தூண்டுதல். இந்த எதிர்க் கிறிஸ்து வருவதாக நீங்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்களே! இதோ! இப்போதே அவன் உலகில் இருக்கிறான்.

பிள்ளைகளே, நீங்கள் கடவுளைச் சார்ந்தவர்கள். நீங்கள் அந்தப் போலி இறைவாக்கினர்களை வென்று விட்டீர்கள்; உங்களுள் இருப்பவர் உலகில் இருக்கும் அந்த எதிர்க் கிறிஸ்துவைவிடப் பெரியவர். அவர்கள் உலகைச் சார்ந்தவர்கள். எனவேதான் உலகு சார்ந்தவற்றையே பேசுகிறார்கள், உலகமும் அவர்களுக்குச் செவிசாய்க்கிறது. ஆனால் நாம் கடவுளைச் சார்ந்தவர்கள்; கடவுளை அறிந்துகொண்டோர் நமக்குச் செவி சாய்க்கின்றனர். கடவுளைச் சாராதோர் நமக்குச் செவிசாய்ப்பதில்லை. இதிலிருந்து, உண்மையான தூண்டுதல் எது, பொய்யான தூண்டுதல் எது என்பதை நாம் அறிந்துகொள்ளலாம்.

The people that lived in darkness have seen a great light.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Matthew 4:12-17, 23-25

At that time: When Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee. And leaving Nazareth he went and lived in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, so that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: “The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles— the people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light, and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death, on them a light has dawned.” From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people. So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and pains, those oppressed by demons, those having seizures, and paralytics, and he healed them. And great crowds followed him from Galilee and the Decapolis, and from Jerusalem and Judea, and from beyond the Jordan.

A Reading from the first letter of St.John 3: 22-4:6

The Son of God has come and given us the power to know the true God.

Beloved: Whatever we ask we receive from God, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him. And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us. Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
