4 who looks with scorn on the vile, but honours those who fear Yahweh, who stands by an oath at any cost, 

5 who asks no interest on loans, who takes no bribe to harm the innocent. No one who so acts can ever be shaken.

'Write to the angel of the church in Sardis and say, "Here is the message of the one who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars: I know about your behaviour: how you are reputed to be alive and yet are dead. Wake up; put some resolve into what little vigour you have left: it is dying fast. So far I have failed to notice anything in your behaviour that my God could possibly call perfect; remember how you first heard the message. Hold on to that. Repent! If you do not wake up, I shall come to you like a thief, and you will have no idea at what hour I shall come upon you. There are a few in Sardis, it is true, who have kept their robes unstained, and they are fit to come with me, dressed in white. Anyone who proves victorious will be dressed, like these, in white robes; I shall not blot that name out of the book of life, but acknowledge it in the presence of my Father and his angels. I warn you, buy from me the gold that has been tested in the fire to make you truly rich, and white robes to clothe you and hide your shameful nakedness, and ointment to put on your eyes to enable you to see. I reprove and train those whom I love: so repent in real earnest. Look, I am standing at the door, knocking. If one of you hears me calling and opens the door, I will come in to share a meal at that person's side. Anyone who proves victorious I will allow to share my throne, just as I have myself overcome and have taken my seat with my Father on his throne. *லூக்கா எழுதிய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 19: 1-10*

அக்காலத்தில் இயேசு எரிகோவுக்குச் சென்று அந்நகர் வழியே போய்க் கொண்டிருந்தார். அங்கு சக்கேயு என்னும் பெயருடைய செல்வர் ஒருவர் இருந்தார். அவர் வரிதண்டுவோருக்குத் தலைவர். இயேசு யார் என்று அவர் பார்க்க விரும்பினார்; மக்கள் திரளாய்க் கூடியிருந்ததால் அவரைப் பார்க்க முடியவில்லை. ஏனெனில், சக்கேயு குட்டையாய் இருந்தார். அவர் முன்னே ஓடிப்போய், அவரைப் பார்ப்பதற்காக ஒரு காட்டு அத்தி மரத்தில் ஏறிக்கொண்டார். இயேசு அவ்வழியேதான் வரவிருந்தார். இயேசு அந்த இடத்திற்கு வந்தவுடன், அண்ணாந்து பார்த்து அவரிடம், ``சக்கேயு, விரைவாய் இறங்கி வாரும்; இன்று உமது வீட்டில் நான் தங்க வேண்டும்'' என்றார். அவர் விரைவாய் இறங்கி வந்து மகிழ்ச்சியோடு அவரை வரவேற்றார். இதைக் கண்ட யாவரும், ``பாவியிடம் தங்கப் போயிருக்கிறாரே இவர்'' என்று முணுமுணுத்தனர். சக்கேயு எழுந்து நின்று, ``ஆண்டவரே, என் உடைமைகளில் பாதியை ஏழைகளுக்குக் கொடுத்துவிடுகிறேன்; எவர் மீதாவது பொய்க்குற்றம் சுமத்தி எதையாவது கவர்ந்திருந்தால் நான் அதை நான்கு மடங்காகத் திருப்பிக் கொடுத்து விடுகிறேன்'' என்று அவரிடம் கூறினார். இயேசு அவரை நோக்கி, ``இன்று இந்த வீட்டிற்கு மீட்பு உண்டாயிற்று; ஏனெனில் இவரும் ஆபிரகாமின் மகனே! இழந்து போனதைத் தேடி மீட்கவே மானிடமகன் வந்திருக்கிறார்'' என்று சொன்னார்.

2 மாசற்றவராய் நடப்போரே! இன்னோர் நேரியவற்றைச் செய்வர்;

உளமார உண்மை பேசுவர்; 3 தம் நாவினால் புறங்கூறார்;

தம் தோழருக்குத் தீங்கிழையார்; தம் அடுத்தவரைப் பழித்துரையார். -பல்லவி 

4 நெறிதவறி நடப்போரை இழிவாகக் கருதுவர்;

ஆண்டவருக்கு அஞ்சுவோரை உயர்வாக மதிப்பர்;

*திருத்தூதர் யோவான் எழுதிய திருவெளிப்பாட்டிலிருந்து வாசகம் 3: 1-6, 14-22*

யோவான் என்னும் எனக்கு ஆண்டவர் கூறியது: சர்தையில் உள்ள திருச்சபையின் வானதூதருக்கு இவ்வாறு எழுது: `கடவுளுடைய ஏழு ஆவிகளையும் ஏழு விண்மீன்களையும் கொண்டிருப்பவர் கூறுவது இதுவே: உன் செயல்களை நான் அறிவேன். நீ பெயர் அளவில்தான் உயிரோடு இருக்கிறாய்; உண்மையில் இறந்துவிட்டாய். எனவே விழிப்பாயிரு. உன்னில் எஞ்சியிருப்பதை உறுதிப்படுத்து. அது இறக்கும் தறுவாயில் உள்ளது. என் கடவுள் திருமுன் உன் செயல்கள் நிறைவற்றவையாய் இருக்கக் கண்டேன். நீ கற்றதையும் கேட்டதையும் நினைவில் கொள்; அவற்றைக் கடைப்பிடி; மனம் மாறு; நீ விழிப்பாயிரு. இல்லையேல் நான் திருடனைப் போல வருவேன். நான் எந்த நேரத்தில் உன்னிடம் வருவேன் என்பதை நீ அறியாய். ஆயினும், தங்கள் ஆடைகளைக் கறைப்படுத்திக்கொள்ளாத சிலர் சர்தையில் உள்ளனர். அவர்கள் வெண்ணாடை அணிந்து என்னுடன் நடந்து வருவார்கள். அவர்கள் அதற்குத் தகுதி பெற்றவர்களே. வெற்றி பெற்றோர் இவ்வாறு வெண்ணாடை அணிவிக்கப்பெறுவர். வாழ்வின் நூலிலிருந்து அவர்களின் பெயர்களை நீக்கிவிட மாட்டேன். மாறாக, என் தந்தை முன்னிலையிலும் அவருடைய வானதூதர்கள் முன்னிலையிலும் அவர்களின் பெயர்களை அறிக்கையிடுவேன். கேட்கச் செவி உடையோர் திருச்சபைகளுக்குத் தூய ஆவியார் கூறுவதைக் கேட்கட்டும்.' இலவோதிக்கேயாவில் உள்ள திருச்சபையின் வானதூதருக்கு இவ்வாறு எழுது: `ஆமென் எனப்படுபவரும் நம்பிக்கைக்குரிய, உண்மையான சாட்சியும் கடவுளது படைப்பின் தொடக்கமும் ஆனவர் கூறுவது இதுவே: உன் செயல்களை நான் அறிவேன். நீ குளிர்ச்சியாகவும் இல்லை, சூடாகவும் இல்லை. குளிர்ச்சியாகவோ சூடாகவோ இருந்திருந்தால் எத்துணை நலமாய் இருந்திருக்கும். இவ்வாறு நீ குளிர்ச்சியாகவோ சூடாகவோ இல்லாமல் வெதுவெதுப்பாய் இருப்பதால் என் வாயிலிருந்து உன்னைக் கக்கிவிடுவேன். ``எனக்குச் செல்வம் உண்டு, வளமை உண்டு, ஒரு குறையும் இல்லை'' என நீ சொல்லிக்கொள்ளுகிறாய். ஆனால், நீ இழிந்த, இரங்கத்தக்க, வறிய, பார்வையற்ற, ஆடையற்ற நிலையில் இருக்கிறாய் என்பது உனக்குத் தெரியவில்லை. ஆகவே, நீ செல்வம் பெறும் பொருட்டு புடம்போட்ட பொன்னையும், ஆடையின்றி வெட்கி நிற்கும் உன் நிலையைப் பிறர் காணாதபடி அணிந்துகொள்ள வெண்ணாடையையும், நீ பார்வை பெறும் பொருட்டு உன் கண்களில் தடவிக்கொள்ள மருந்தையும் என்னிடமிருந்து விலைக்கு வாங்கிக்கொள்ளுமாறு உனக்கு அறிவுரை வழங்குகிறேன். நான் யார்மீது அன்பு செலுத்துகிறேனோ அவர்களைக் கடிந்து தண்டித்துத் திருத்துகிறேன். ஆகவே நீ ஆர்வம் கொண்டு மனம் மாறு. இதோ, நான் கதவு அருகில் நின்று தட்டிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறேன். யாராவது எனது குரலைக் கேட்டுக் கதவைத் திறந்தால், நான் உள்ளே சென்று அவர்களோடு உணவு அருந்துவேன்; அவர்களும் என்னோடு உணவு அருந்துவார்கள். நான் வெற்றி பெற்று என் தந்தையின் அரியணையில் அவரோடு வீற்றிருப்பது போல, வெற்றி பெறும் எவருக்குமே எனது அரியணையில் என்னோடு வீற்றிருக்கும் உரிமை அளிப்பேன். கேட்கச் செவி உடையோர், திருச்சபைகளுக்குத் தூய ஆவியார் கூறுவதைக் கேட்கட்டும்.'

Now it happened that as he drew near to Jericho there was a blind man sitting at the side of the road begging.

When he heard the crowd going past he asked what it was all about,

and they told him that Jesus the Nazarene was passing by.

So he called out, 'Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me.'

The people in front scolded him and told him to keep quiet, but he only shouted all the louder, 'Son of David, have pity on me.'

Jesus stopped and ordered them to bring the man to him, and when he came up, asked him, 'What do you want me to do for you?' 'Sir,' he replied, 'let me see again.' Jesus said to him, 'Receive your sight. Your faith has saved you.' And instantly his sight returned and he followed him praising God, and all the people who saw it gave praise to God.

3 Such a one is like a tree planted near streams; it bears fruit in season and its leaves never wither, and every project succeeds. 

4 How different the wicked, how different! Just like chaff blown around by the wind 

6 For Yahweh watches over the path of the upright, but the path of the wicked is doomed.

அக்காலத்தில் இயேசு எரிகோவை நெருங்கி வந்தபோது, பார்வையற்ற ஒருவர் வழியோரமாய் உட்கார்ந்து பிச்சையெடுத்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார். மக்கள் கூட்டம் கடந்து போய்க்கொண்டிருந்ததைக் கவனித்த அவர், ``இது என்ன?'' என்று வினவினார். நாசரேத்து இயேசு போய்க்கொண்டிருக்கிறார் என்று அவருக்குத் தெரிவித்தார்கள். உடனே அவர், ``இயேசுவே! தாவீதின் மகனே, எனக்கு இரங்கும்'' என்று கூக்குரலிட்டார். முன்னே சென்றுகொண்டிருந்தவர்கள் அமைதியாய் இருக்குமாறு அவரை அதட்டினார்கள். ஆனால் அவர், ``தாவீதின் மகனே, எனக்கு இரங்கும்'' என்று இன்னும் உரக்கக் கத்தினார். இயேசு நின்று, அவரைத் தம்மிடம் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு வரும்படி ஆணையிட்டார். அவர் நெருங்கி வந்ததும், ``நான் உமக்கு என்ன செய்ய வேண்டும் என விரும்புகிறீர்?'' என்று இயேசு கேட்டார். அதற்கு அவர், ``ஆண்டவரே, நான் மீண்டும் பார்வை பெற வேண்டும்'' என்றார். இயேசு அவரிடம், ``பார்வை பெறும்; உமது நம்பிக்கை உம்மை நலமாக்கிற்று'' என்றார். அவர் உடனே பார்வை பெற்று, கடவுளைப் போற்றிப் புகழ்ந்து கொண்டே இயேசுவைப் பின்பற்றினார். இதைக் கண்ட மக்கள் யாவரும் கடவுளைப் புகழ்ந்தனர்.

A revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him so that he could tell his servants what is now to take place very soon; he sent his angel to make it known to his servant John, and John has borne witness to the Word of God and to the witness of Jesus Christ, everything that he saw. Blessed is anyone who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed those who hear them, if they treasure the content, because the Time is near. John, to the seven churches of Asia: grace and peace to you from him who is, who was, and who is to come, from the seven spirits who are before his throne, 'Write to the angel of the church in Ephesus and say, "Here is the message of the one who holds the seven stars in his right hand and who lives among the seven golden lamp-stands: I know your activities, your hard work and your perseverance. I know you cannot stand wicked people, and how you put to the test those who were self-styled apostles, and found them false. I know too that you have perseverance, and have suffered for my name without growing tired. Nevertheless, I have this complaint to make: you have less love now than formerly. Think where you were before you fell; repent, and behave as you did at first, or else, if you will not repent, I shall come to you and take your lamp-stand from its place.

1 நற்பேறு பெற்றவர் யார்? - அவர் பொல்லாரின் சொல்லின்படி நடவாதவர்;

பாவிகளின் தீயவழி நில்லாதவர்; இகழ்வாரின் குழுவினில் அமராதவர்;

2 ஆனால், அவர் ஆண்டவரின் திருச்சட்டத்தில் மகிழ்ச்சியுறுபவர்;

அவரது சட்டத்தைப் பற்றி இரவும் பகலும் சிந்திப்பவர். -பல்லவி 

3 அவர் நீரோடையோரம் நடப்பட்ட மரம் போல் இருப்பார்;

பருவகாலத்தில் கனிதந்து, என்றும் பசுமையாய் இருக்கும் அம்மரத்திற்கு ஒப்பாவார்;

தாம் செய்வதனைத்திலும் வெற்றி பெறுவார். -பல்லவி 

4 ஆனால், பொல்லார் அப்படி இல்லை;

அவர்கள் காற்று அடித்துச் செல்லும் பதரைப் போல் ஆவர்.

6 நேர்மையாளரின் நெறியை ஆண்டவர் கருத்தில் கொள்வார்;

பொல்லாரின் வழியோ அழிவைத் தரும். -பல்லவி
