"They say and don't" 

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To Matthew (23, 1-12) 

At that time Jesus addressed the crowds and his disciples, and he said, “The scribes and the Pharisees teach in the pulpit of Moses. So whatever they can tell you, just do it and watch it. But do not act after their deeds, for they say and do not. They tie up heavy burdens, which are difficult to carry, and they put them on the shoulders of the people; but they themselves do not want to move them with their fingers. All their actions, they do to be noticed by people: they widen their phylacteries and lengthen their fringes; they like places of honor at dinners, seats of honor in synagogues and greetings in public places; they like to receive the title of Rabbi from people. For you, do not be given the title of Rabbi, for you have only one master to teach you, and you are all brothers. Do not call anyone on earth the name of father, for you have only one Father, who is in heaven. Do not be given the title of masters either, because you have only one teacher, Christ. The greatest among you will be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, whoever humbles himself will be exalted. "

“Shall I eat the flesh of bulls

and drink the blood of rams?

Offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving to God,

fulfill your vows to the Most High. R 

"What have you to recite my laws,

to keep my covenant in your mouth,

you who do not like reproaches

and reject my words far from you? R 

“This is what you do; will I keep silent?

Do you think i'm like you

Who offers the sacrifice of thanksgiving,

he gives me glory. "R

"Learn to do good: seek the right" 

Reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah (1, 10.16-20) 

Hear the word of the Lord, you who are like the rulers of Sodom! Listen to the teaching of our God, you people of Gomorrah! Wash yourselves, purify yourselves, remove your evil deeds from my sight, stop doing evil. Learn to do good: seek right, bring the oppressor to heel, do justice to the orphan, defend the cause of the widow.

Come, and let's discuss - says the Lord. If your sins are like scarlet, they will turn as white as snow. If they are red like vermilion, they will turn like wool. If you consent to obey me, the good things of the country, you will eat them; but if you refuse, if you persist, the sword will eat you up.

- Yes, the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

இயேசு தம் சீடரை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: “உங்கள் தந்தை இரக்கமுள்ளவராய் இருப்பதுபோல நீங்களும் இரக்கம் உள்ளவர்களாய் இருங்கள். பிறர் குற்றவாளிகள் எனத் தீர்ப்பளிக்காதீர்கள்; அப்போதுதான் நீங்களும் தீர்ப்புக்கு உள்ளாகமாட்டீர்கள். மற்றவர்களைக் கண்டனம் செய்யாதீர்கள்; அப்போதுதான் நீங்களும் கண்டனத்துக்கு ஆளாக மாட்டீர்கள். மன்னியுங்கள்; மன்னிப்புப் பெறுவீர்கள்.

என் தலைவரே! நீர் மாட்சிமிக்க அஞ்சுதற்குரிய இறைவன். உம்மீது அன்புகொண்டு உம் கட்டளைகளின்படி நடப்பவர்களுடன் நீர் செய்துகொண்ட உடன்படிக்கையைக் காத்து அவர்களுக்குப் பேரன்பு காட்டுகின்றீர்! நாங்கள் பாவம் செய்தோம்; வழி தவறி நடந்தோம்; பொல்லாதவர்களாய் வாழ்ந்து உம்மை எதிர்த்து நின்றோம். உம் கட்டளைகளையும் நீதி நெறிகளையும் கைவிட்டோம். எங்களுடைய அரசர்கள், தலைவர்கள், தந்தையர்கள், நாட்டிலுள்ள மக்கள் அனைவருக்கும் இறைவாக்கினர்களாகிய உம் ஊழியர்கள் உமது பெயரால் பேசியதற்கு நாங்கள் செவிகொடுக்கவில்லை. 

என் தலைவரே! நீதி உமக்கு உரியது; எமக்கோ இன்று வரை கிடைத்துள்ளது அவமானமே. ஏனெனில், யூதாவின் ஆண்களும் எருசலேம்வாழ் மக்களும், இஸ்ரயேலைச் சார்ந்த யாவரும் ஆகிய நாங்கள், உமக்கு எதிராகச் செய்த துரோகத்தின் பொருட்டு, அருகிலோ தொலையிலோ உள்ள எல்லா நாடுகளுக்கும் உம்மால் இன்றுவரை விரட்டப்பட்டுள்ளோம். 

ஆம், ஆண்டவரே! அவமானமே எங்களுக்கும் எங்கள் அரசர்களுக்கும் தலைவர்களுக்கும் தந்தையர்களுக்கும் கிடைத்துள்ளது. ஏனெனில், நாங்கள் உமக்கு எதிராகப் பாவம் செய்தோம். எங்கள் தலைவரும் கடவுளுமாகிய உம்மிடத்தில் இரக்கமும் மன்னிப்பும் உண்டு. நாங்களோ உம்மை எதிர்த்து நின்றோம். எங்கள் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவர் தம் ஊழியர்களான இறைவாக்கினர் மூலம் தம் திருச்சட்டங்களை அளித்து அவற்றின் வழியில் நடக்குமாறு பணித்தார். நாங்களோ அவரது குரலொலியை ஏற்கவில்லை.

At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: “Be merciful as your Father is merciful. Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you: it is a very full measure, packed, shaken, overflowing, which will be poured into the hem of your garment; for the measure which you use for others will also serve as a measure for you. "

How long, Lord, will your anger last?

Do not hold against us the sins of our ancestors:

may your tenderness come to us soon,

for we are at the end of our strength! R 

Help us, God our Savior,

for the glory of your name!

Deliver us, erase our faults,

for the sake of your name! R 

May the captive's complaint rise up in your presence!

Your arm is strong: spare those who must die.

And we, your people, the flock you lead,

endlessly we can give you thanks. R

"We have sinned, we have committed iniquity" 

Reading from the book of the prophet Daniel (9, 4-10) 

I made this prayer and this confession to the Lord my God: “Ah! you Lord, the great and dreadful God, who keeps covenant and faithfulness to those who love him and keep his commandments, we have sinned, we have committed iniquity, we have done evil, we have been rebellious, we have are turned away from your commandments and your ordinances. We did not listen to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, to our princes, to our fathers, to all the people of the land. To you, Lord, justice; shame on our faces, as we see today for the people of Judah, for the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, for those who are near and for those who are far, in all the countries where you have them driven out, because of the infidelities they have committed towards you. Lord, shame on our faces, our kings, our princes, our fathers, because we have sinned against you. To the Lord our God, mercy and forgiveness, because we rebelled against him, we did not listen to the voice of the Lord our God, because we did not follow the laws which he proposed to us by his servants the prophets. "

நற்செய்தி வாசகம் 

என் அன்பார்ந்த மைந்தர் இவரே. 

✠ மாற்கு எழுதிய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 9: 2-10 

அக்காலத்தில் 

இயேசு பேதுருவையும் யாக்கோபையும் யோவானையும் அழைத்து, ஓர் உயர்ந்த மலைக்கு அவர்களை மட்டும் தனிமையாகக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு போனார். அங்கே அவர்கள்முன் அவர் தோற்றம் மாறினார். அவருடைய ஆடைகள் இவ்வுலகில் எந்த சலவைக்காரரும் வெளுக்க முடியாத அளவுக்கு வெள்ளை வெளேரென ஒளிவீசின. அப்போது எலியாவும் மோசேயும் அவர்களுக்குத் தோன்றினர். இருவரும் இயேசுவோடு உரையாடிக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். 

பேதுரு இயேசுவைப் பார்த்து, “ரபி, நாம் இங்கேயே இருப்பது நல்லது. உமக்கு ஒன்றும் மோசேக்கு ஒன்றும் எலியாவுக்கு ஒன்றுமாக மூன்று கூடாரங்களை அமைப்போம்” என்றார். தாம் சொல்வது என்னவென்று அவருக்குத் தெரியவில்லை. ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் மிகுந்த அச்சம் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். 

அப்போது ஒரு மேகம் வந்து அவர்கள் மேல் நிழலிட, அந்த மேகத்தினின்று, “என் அன்பார்ந்த மைந்தர் இவரே; இவருக்குச் செவிசாயுங்கள்” என்று ஒரு குரல் ஒலித்தது. உடனடியாக அவர்கள் சுற்றுமுற்றும் பார்த்தார்கள். தங்கள் அருகில் இயேசு ஒருவரைத் தவிர வேறு எவரையும் காணவில்லை. 

அவர்கள் மலையிலிருந்து இறங்கி வந்துகொண்டிருந்தபோது அவர், “மானிடமகன் இறந்து உயிர்த்தெழும்வரை, நீங்கள் கண்டதை எவருக்கும் எடுத்துரைக்கக் கூடாது” என்று அவர்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டார். அவர்கள் இவ்வார்த்தையை அப்படியே மனத்தில் இருத்தி, ‘இறந்து உயிர்த்தெழுதல்’ என்றால் என்னவென்று ஒருவரோடு ஒருவர் பேசிக்கொண்டார்கள்.
