நானே என் மந்தையை மேய்த்து, இளைப்பாறச் செய்வேன்.

இறைவாக்கினர் எசேக்கியேல் நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 34: 11-16

தலைவராகிய ஆண்டவர் கூறுகிறார்:

நானே என் மந்தையைத் தேடிச் சென்று பேணிக்காப்பேன். ஓர் ஆயன் தன் மந்தையினின்று சிதறுண்ட ஆடுகளைத் தேடிச் செல்வதுபோல, நானும் என் மந்தையைத் தேடிப் போவேன். மப்பும் மந்தாரமுமான நாளில் அவற்றை எல்லா இடங்களினின்றும் மீட்டு வருவேன். மக்களினங்களினின்று அவற்றை வெளிக்கொணர்ந்து, நாடுகளினின்று கூட்டிச்சேர்த்து, அவற்றின் சொந்த நாட்டிற்கு அழைத்து வருவேன். அவற்றை இஸ்ரயேலின் மலைகளிலும் ஓடையோரங்களிலும் நாட்டின் எல்லாக் குடியிருப்புகளிலும் மேய்ப்பேன். நல்ல மேய்ச்சல் நிலத்தில் அவற்றை மேய்ப்பேன். இஸ்ரயேலின் மலையுச்சிகளில் அவற்றின் மேய்ச்சல் நிலம் இருக்கும். அங்கே வளமான மேய்ச்சல் நிலத்தில் அவை இளைப்பாறும். இஸ்ரயேலின் மலைகளின்மேல் செழிப்பான மேய்ச்சல் நிலத்தில் அவை மேயும்.

நானே என் மந்தையை மேய்த்து, இளைப்பாறச் செய்வேன், என்கிறார் தலைவராகிய ஆண்டவர். காணாமல் போனதைத் தேடுவேன்; அலைந்து திரிவதைத் திரும்பக் கொண்டு வருவேன்; காயப்பட்டதற்குக் கட்டுப் போடுவேன்; நலிந்தவற்றைத் திடப்படுத்துவேன். ஆனால், கொழுத்ததையும் வலிமையுள்ளதையும் அழிப்பேன். இவ்வாறு நீதியுடன் அவற்றை மேய்ப்பேன்.

Jesus spoke this parable to the scribes and Pharisees:

  ‘What man among you with a hundred sheep, losing one, would not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the missing one till he found it? And when he found it, would he not joyfully take it on his shoulders and then, when he got home, call together his friends and neighbours? “Rejoice with me,” he would say “I have found my sheep that was lost.” In the same way, I tell you, there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one repentant sinner than over ninety-nine virtuous men who have no need of repentance.’

The love of God has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit which has been given us. We were still helpless when at his appointed moment Christ died for sinful men. It is not easy to die even for a good man – though of course for someone really worthy, a man might be prepared to die – but what proves that God loves us is that Christ died for us while we were still sinners. Having died to make us righteous, is it likely that he would now fail to save us from God’s anger? When we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, we were still enemies; now that we have been reconciled, surely we may count on being saved by the life of his Son? Not merely because we have been reconciled but because we are filled with joyful trust in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have already gained our reconciliation.

The Lord God says this: I am going to look after my flock myself and keep all of it in view. As a shepherd keeps all his flock in view when he stands up in the middle of his scattered sheep, so shall I keep my sheep in view. I shall rescue them from wherever they have been scattered during the mist and darkness. I shall bring them out of the countries where they are; I shall gather them together from foreign countries and bring them back to their own land. I shall pasture them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines and in every inhabited place in the land. I shall feed them in good pasturage; the high mountains of Israel will be their grazing ground. There they will rest in good grazing ground; they will browse in rich pastures on the mountains of Israel. I myself will pasture my sheep, I myself will show them where to rest – it is the Lord who speaks. I shall look for the lost one, bring back the stray, bandage the wounded and make the weak strong. I shall watch over the fat and healthy. I shall be a true shepherd to them.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு தம் சீடரை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: “என்னை நோக்கி, ‘ஆண்டவரே, ஆண்டவரே’ எனச் சொல்பவரெல்லாம் விண்ணரசுக்குள் செல்வதில்லை. மாறாக, விண்ணுலகிலுள்ள என் தந்தையின் திருவுளத்தின்படி செயல்படுபவரே செல்வர். அந்நாளில் பலர் என்னை நோக்கி, ‘ஆண்டவரே, ஆண்டவரே, உம் பெயரால் நாங்கள் இறைவாக்கு உரைக்கவில்லையா? உம் பெயரால் பேய்களை ஓட்டவில்லையா? உம் பெயரால் வல்ல செயல்கள் பல செய்யவில்லையா?’ என்பர். அதற்கு நான் அவர்களிடம், ‘உங்களை எனக்குத் தெரியவே தெரியாது. நெறி கேடாகச் செயல்படுவோரே, என்னை விட்டு அகன்று போங்கள்’ என வெளிப்படையாக அறிவிப்பேன்.

ஆகவே, நான் சொல்லும் இவ்வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டு இவற்றின்படி செயல்படுகிற எவரும் பாறைமீது தம் வீட்டைக் கட்டிய அறிவாளிக்கு ஒப்பாவார். மழை பெய்தது; ஆறு பெருக்கெடுத்து ஓடியது; பெருங்காற்று வீசியது; அவை அவ்வீட்டின் மேல் மோதியும் அது விழவில்லை. ஏனெனில் பாறையின்மீது அதன் அடித்தளம் இடப்பட்டிருந்தது.

நான் சொல்லும் இந்த வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டு இவற்றின்படி செயல்படாத எவரும் மணல்மீது தம் வீட்டைக் கட்டிய அறிவிலிக்கு ஒப்பாவார். மழை பெய்தது; ஆறு பெருக்கெடுத்து ஓடியது; பெருங்காற்று வீசியது; அவை அவ்வீட்டைத் தாக்க, அது விழுந்தது; இவ்வாறு பேரழிவு நேர்ந்தது."

இயேசு இவ்வாறு உரையாற்றி முடித்தபோது அவரது போதனையைக் கேட்ட மக்கள் கூட்டத்தினர் வியப்பில் ஆழ்ந்தனர். ஏனெனில் அவர்கள்தம் மறைநூல் அறிஞரைப் போலன்றி அதிகாரத்தோடு அவர்களுக்கு அவர் கற்பித்தார்.

1.கடவுளே, வேற்று நாட்டினர் உமது உரிமைச் சொத்தினுள் புகுந்துள்ளனர்; உமது திருக்கோவிலைத் தீட்டுப்படுத்தியுள்ளனர்; எருசலேமைப் பாழடையச் செய்தனர்.

யோயாக்கினையும் வலிமை வாய்ந்த அனைவரையும் சிறைப்படுத்திப் பாபிலோனுக்குக் கொண்டு சென்றான்.

அரசர்கள் இரண்டாம் நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 24: 8-17

யோயாக்கின் அரசனான போது அவனுக்கு வயது பதினெட்டு. எருசலேமில் மூன்று மாதமே அவன் அரசாண்டான். எருசலேமைச் சார்ந்த எல்நாத்தானின் மகள் நெகுஸ்தா என்பவளே அவனுடைய தாய். யோயாக்கின் தன் தந்தை செய்த அனைத்தின்படியே ஆண்டவரின் பார்வையில் தீயதெனப்பட்டதைச் செய்தான்.

அக்காலத்தில் பாபிலோனிய மன்னன் நெபுகத்னேசரின் படைவீரர் எருசலேமின் மீது படையெடுத்து வந்து நகரை முற்றுகையிட்டனர். அப்பொழுது பாபிலோனிய மன்னன் நெபுகத்னேசரும் வந்து நகரை முற்றுகையிட்டிருந்த வீரர்களோடு சேர்ந்து கொண்டான். எனவே யூதாவின் அரசன் யோயாக்கினும் அவன் தாயும் அவன் அலுவலர்களும் தலைவர்களும் அதிகாரிகளும் பாபிலோன் மன்னனிடம் சரணடைந்தனர். அவனைப் பாபிலோன் மன்னன் தான் ஆட்சியேற்ற எட்டாம் ஆண்டில் சிறைப்படுத்தினான்.

பின்பு அவன் ஆண்டவரின் இல்லத்திலும் அரண்மனையிலும் இருந்த செல்வங்களை எல்லாம் எடுத்துச் சென்றான். ஆண்டவர் உரைத்த வாக்கின்படி, ஆண்டவரின் இல்லத்தில் இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசர் சாலமோன் செய்து வைத்திருந்த எல்லாப் பொன்கலன்களையும் துண்டு துண்டாக்கினான். மேலும் அவன் எருசலேம் முழுவதையும், தலைவர்கள் அனைவரையும், ஆற்றல் வாய்ந்த பதினாயிரம் படை வீரர்களையும் சிற்பக் கலைஞர்களையும், கொல்லர்களையும் நாடு கடத்தினான். நாட்டில் ஏழை மக்களைத் தவிர எவரையும் விட்டுவைக்கவில்லை. மேலும் அவன் யோயாக்கினையும், அரசனின் தாயையும், மனைவியரையும், அவனுடைய அதிகாரிகளையும், நாட்டின் தலைவர்களையும் எருசலேமிலிருந்து பாபிலோனுக்கு நாடுகடத்தினான். மேலும் வலிமை வாய்ந்த ஏழாயிரம் பேர்களைக் கொண்ட முழுப்படையையும், போர்த் திறனும் உடல் ஆற்றலும் கொண்ட ஆயிரம் தச்சர்களையும், கொத்தர்களையும் அவன் சிறைப்படுத்திப் பாபிலோனுக்குக் கொண்டு சென்றான்.

யோயாக்கினுக்குப் பதிலாக அவனுடைய சிறிய தந்தை மத்தனியாவை அரசனாக்கி, அவனது பெயரைச் ‘செதேக்கியா’ என்று மாற்றினான்.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Matthew 7: 21-29

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘It is not those who say to me, “Lord, Lord,” who will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the person who does the will of my Father in heaven. When the day comes many will say to me, “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, cast out demons in your name, work many miracles in your name?” Then I shall tell them to their faces: I have never known you; away from me, you evil men!

‘Therefore, everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on rock. Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and hurled themselves against that house, and it did not fall: it was founded on rock. But everyone who listens to these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a stupid man who built his house on sand. Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and struck that house, and it fell; and what a fall it had!’

Jesus had now finished what he wanted to say, and his teaching made a deep impression on the people because he taught them with authority, and not like their own scribes.
