திருத்தூதர் பவுல் கலாத்தியருக்கு எழுதிய திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 1: 13-24

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே, பவுல் ஆகிய நான் யூத நெறியைப் பின்பற்றி வந்த காலத்தில் எவ்வாறு நடந்துகொண்டேன் என்பதுபற்றி நீங்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டிருப்பீர்கள். கடவுளின் திருச்சபையை மிகக் கொடுமையாகத் துன்புறுத்தி ஒழிக்க முயன்றேன். மூதாதையர் மரபுகளில் ஆர்வம் மிக்கவனாய் என் இனத்தவருள் என் வயதினர் பலரைவிட யூத நெறியில் சிறந்து விளங்கினேன். ஆனால் தாயின் வயிற்றில் இருந்தபோதே என்னைத் தமக்கென ஒதுக்கிவைத்துத் தமது அருளால் என்னை அழைத்த கடவுள், தம் மகனைப் பற்றிய நற்செய்தியைப் பிற இனத்தவர்க்கு நான் அறிவிக்குமாறு அவரை எனக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தத் திருவுளங்கொண்டார். அப்போது நான் எந்த மனிதரிடமும் போய்க் கலந்து பேசவில்லை. எனக்கு முன் திருத்தூதர்களாய் இருந்தவர்களைக் காண எருசலேமுக்குப் போகவுமில்லை. ஆனால் உடனே அரேபியாவுக்குச் சென்றேன். அங்கிருந்து தமஸ்கு நகருக்குத் திரும்பினேன். மூன்று ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகுதான் கேபாவைப் பார்த்துப் பேச எருசலேமுக்குப் போனேன். அங்கே பதினைந்து நாள் அவரோடு தங்கியிருந்தேன். ஆண்டவரின் சகோதரரான யாக்கோபைத் தவிர திருத்தூதருள் வேறு எவரையும் நான் போய்ப் பார்க்கவில்லை. நான் உங்களுக்கு எழுதுவதில் பொய் ஒன்றுமில்லை; இதற்குக் கடவுளே சாட்சி! பிறகு நான் சிரியா, சிலிசியப் பகுதிகளுக்குச் சென்றேன். ஆயினும் யூதேய நாட்டிலிருந்த கிறிஸ்தவச் சபைகளுக்கு அதுவரை அறிமுகம் ஆகாமலேயே இருந்தேன். ``ஒரு காலத்தில் தங்களைத் துன்புறுத்தியவன், தான் முன்பு ஒழிக்க முயன்ற விசுவாசத்தை இப்பொழுது நற்செய்தியாக அறிவிக்கிறான்'' என்று மட்டும் அவர்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டிருந்தார்கள். அதற்காக என் பொருட்டுக் கடவுளைப் போற்றிப் புகழ்ந்தார்கள்.

- இது ஆண்டவர் வழங்கும் அருள்வாக்கு.

God called me through his grace and chose to reveal his Son in me

A Reading from the Letter of St.Paul to Galatians 1:13-24 

You must have heard of my career as a practising Jew, how merciless I was in persecuting the Church of God, how much damage I did to it, how I stood out among other Jews of my generation, and how enthusiastic I was for the traditions of my ancestors.

  Then God, who had specially chosen me while I was still in my mother’s womb, called me through his grace and chose to reveal his Son in me, so that I might preach the Good News about him to the pagans. I did not stop to discuss this with any human being, nor did I go up to Jerusalem to see those who were already apostles before me, but I went off to Arabia at once and later went straight back from there to Damascus. Even when after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas and stayed with him for fifteen days, I did not see any of the other apostles; I only saw James, the brother of the Lord, and I swear before God that what I have just written is the literal truth. After that I went to Syria and Cilicia, and was still not known by sight to the churches of Christ in Judaea, who had heard nothing except that their one-time persecutor was now preaching the faith he had previously tried to destroy; and they gave glory to God for me.

அக்காலத்தில்

திருச்சட்ட அறிஞர் ஒருவர் எழுந்து இயேசுவைச் சோதிக்கும் நோக்குடன், “போதகரே, நிலைவாழ்வை உரிமையாக்கிக்கொள்ள நான் என்ன செய்ய வேண்டும்?” என்று கேட்டார்.

அதற்கு இயேசு, “திருச்சட்ட நூலில் என்ன எழுதியிருக்கிறது? அதில் நீர் என்ன வாசிக்கிறீர்?” என்று அவரிடம் கேட்டார். அவர் மறுமொழியாக, “ ‘உன் முழு இதயத்தோடும், முழு உள்ளத்தோடும், முழு ஆற்றலோடும், முழு மனத்தோடும் உன் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவரிடம் அன்புகூர்வாயாக. உன்மீது நீ அன்புகூர்வதுபோல் உனக்கு அடுத்திருப்பவர்மீதும் அன்பு கூர்வாயாக’ என்று எழுதியுள்ளது” என்றார். இயேசு, “சரியாய்ச் சொன்னீர்; அப்படியே செய்யும்; அப்பொழுது வாழ்வீர்” என்றார்.

அவர், தம்மை நேர்மையாளர் எனக் காட்ட விரும்பி, “எனக்கு அடுத்திருப்பவர் யார்?” என்று இயேசுவிடம் கேட்டார்.

அதற்கு அவர் மறுமொழியாகக் கூறிய உவமை: “ஒருவர் எருசலேமிலிருந்து எரிகோவுக்குப் போகும்போது கள்வர் கையில் அகப்பட்டார். அவருடைய ஆடைகளை அவர்கள் உரிந்துகொண்டு, அவரை அடித்துக் குற்றுயிராக விட்டுப் போனார்கள். குரு ஒருவர் தற்செயலாய் அவ்வழியே வந்தார். அவர் அவரைக் கண்டதும் மறுபக்கமாக விலகிச் சென்றார். அவ்வாறே லேவியர் ஒருவரும் அவ்விடத்துக்கு வந்து அவரைக் கண்டதும் மறுபக்கமாய் விலகிச் சென்றார்.

ஆனால் அவ்வழியே பயணம் செய்துகொண்டிருந்த சமாரியர் ஒருவர் அருகில் வந்து அவரைக் கண்டபோது அவர்மீது பரிவு கொண்டார். அவர் அவரை அணுகி, காயங்களில் திராட்சை மதுவும் எண்ணெயும் வார்த்து, அவற்றைக் கட்டி, தாம் பயணம் செய்த விலங்கின்மீது ஏற்றி, ஒரு சாவடிக்குக் கொண்டு போய் அவரைக் கவனித்துக்கொண்டார்.

மறுநாள் இரு தெனாரியத்தை எடுத்து, சாவடிப் பொறுப்பாளரிடம் கொடுத்து, ‘இவரைக் கவனித்துக்கொள்ளும்; இதற்கு மேல் செலவானால் நான் திரும்பி வரும்போது உமக்குத் தருவேன்” என்றார்.

“கள்வர் கையில் அகப்பட்டவருக்கு இம்மூவருள் எவர் அடுத்திருப்பவர் என உமக்குத் தோன்றுகிறது?” என்று இயேசு கேட்டார். அதற்குத் திருச்சட்ட அறிஞர், “அவருக்கு இரக்கம் காட்டியவரே” என்றார். இயேசு, “நீரும் போய் அப்படியே செய்யும்” என்று கூறினார்.

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

கிறிஸ்துவின் பொருட்டு அருள்கூர்ந்து உங்களை அழைத்த அவரை விட்டுவிட்டு இவ்வளவு குறுகிய காலத்தில் வேறு ஒரு நற்செய்தியை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டுவிட்டீர்களே! எனக்கே வியப்பாய் இருக்கிறது. வேறு ஒரு நற்செய்தி இருக்கிறது என்று நான் சொல்ல வரவில்லை. மாறாகச் சிலர் உங்கள் மனத்தைக் குழப்பிக் கிறிஸ்துவின் நற்செய்தியைத் திரித்துக் கூற விரும்புகின்றனர் என்பதுதான் உண்மை. நாங்கள் உங்களுக்கு அறிவித்த நற்செய்தியினின்று மாறுபட்ட ஒன்றை நாங்களோ, விண்ணிலிருந்து வந்த தூதரோ, யார் அறிவித்தாலும் அவர்கள் சபிக்கப்படுக! ஏற்கெனவே சொல்லியிருக்கிறோம்; இப்பொழுது மீண்டும் சொல்கிறேன்: நீங்கள் பெற்றுக்கொண்ட நற்செய்தியினின்று மாறுபட்ட ஒன்றை யாராவது உங்களுக்கு அறிவித்தால் அவர்கள் சபிக்கப்படுக! இப்படிப் பேசும்போது நான் நாடுவது மனிதருடைய நல்லெண்ணமா? கடவுளுடைய நல்லெண்ணமா? நான் மனிதருக்கு உகந்தவனாய் இருக்கவா பார்க்கிறேன்? நான் இன்னும் மனிதருக்கு உகந்தவனாய் இருக்கப் பார்த்தால் கிறிஸ்துவுக்குப் பணியாளனாய் இருக்க முடியாது.

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே, உங்களுக்கு ஒன்று தெரிவிக்க விரும்புகிறேன்: நான் உங்களுக்கு அறிவித்த நற்செய்தி மனிதரிடமிருந்து வந்ததல்ல. எந்த மனிதரிடமிருந்தும் நான் அதைப் பெற்றுக் கொள்ளவில்லை; எந்த மனிதரும் அதை எனக்குக் கற்றுக்கொடுக்கவில்லை. மாறாக இயேசு கிறிஸ்து அருளிய வெளிப்பாட்டின் வாயிலாக அது எனக்குக் கிடைத்தது.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Luke 10:25-37 

There was a lawyer who, to disconcert Jesus, stood up and said to him, ‘Master, what must I do to inherit eternal life?’ He said to him, ‘What is written in the Law? What do you read there?’ He replied, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbour as yourself.’ ‘You have answered right,’ said Jesus ‘do this and life is yours.’

  But the man was anxious to justify himself and said to Jesus, ‘And who is my neighbour?’ Jesus replied, ‘A man was once on his way down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell into the hands of brigands; they took all he had, beat him and then made off, leaving him half dead. Now a priest happened to be travelling down the same road, but when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. In the same way a Levite who came to the place saw him, and passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan traveller who came upon him was moved with compassion when he saw him. He went up and bandaged his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them. He then lifted him on to his own mount, carried him to the inn and looked after him. Next day, he took out two denarii and handed them to the innkeeper. “Look after him,” he said “and on my way back I will make good any extra expense you have.” Which of these three, do you think, proved himself a neighbour to the man who fell into the brigands‘ hands?’ ‘The one who took pity on him’ he replied. Jesus said to him, ‘Go, and do the same yourself.’

The Good News I preached is not a human message but from Jesus Christ

Galatians 1:6-12 

I am astonished at the promptness with which you have turned away from the one who called you and have decided to follow a different version of the Good News. Not that there can be more than one Good News; it is merely that some troublemakers among you want to change the Good News of Christ; and let me warn you that if anyone preaches a version of the Good News different from the one we have already preached to you, whether it be ourselves or an angel from heaven, he is to be condemned. I am only repeating what we told you before: if anyone preaches a version of the Good News different from the one you have already heard, he is to be condemned. So now whom am I trying to please – man, or God? Would you say it is men’s approval I am looking for? If I still wanted that, I should not be what I am – a servant of Christ.

  The fact is, brothers, and I want you to realise this, the Good News I preached is not a human message that I was given by men, it is something I learnt only through a revelation of Jesus Christ.
