எருசலேமில் செய்யப்படும் அருவருக்கத்தக்க செயல்களுக்காகப் புலம்பும் மனிதர்களுக்கு நெற்றியில் அடையாளம் இடு.

இறைவாக்கினர் எசேக்கியேல் நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 9: 1-7; 10: 18-22

ஆண்டவர் என் செவிகளில் உரத்த குரலில், “நகருக்குத் தண்டனை வழங்குவோரே! நீங்கள் ஒவ்வொருவரும் உம் கொலைக் கருவியைக் கையிலேந்தி நெருங்கி வாருங்கள்” என்றார். இதோ ஆறு ஆள்கள் வடக்கு நோக்கி இருக்கும் மேல் வாயிலின் வழியாக வந்தனர். ஒவ்வொருவர் கையிலும் ஒரு கொலைக் கருவி இருந்தது. அவர்களுடன் நார்ப் பட்டு உடுத்தி, எழுதும் மைக்கூட்டை இடையில் வைத்திருந்த ஒருவனும் இருந்தான். ,இவர்கள் உள்ளே வந்து வெண்கலப் பீடத்தின் அருகில் நின்றனர்.

அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரயேலின் கடவுளது மாட்சி அது தங்கியிருந்த கெருபுகளை விட்டு மேலெழுந்து இல்லத்தின் வாயிற்படிக்கு வந்தது. உடனே ஆண்டவர் நார்ப் பட்டு உடுத்தி எழுதும் மைக்கூட்டைத் தம் இடையில் வைத்திருந்த அம்மனிதரை அழைத்தார். பின் ஆண்டவர் அவரை நோக்கி, “நீ எருசலேம் நகரெங்கும் சுற்றி வந்து அதனுள் செய்யப்படும் எல்லா அருவருக்கத்தக்க செயல்களுக்காகவும் பெருமூச்சு விட்டுப் புலம்பும் மனிதர்களுக்கு நெற்றியில் அடையாளம் இடு” என்றார்.

என் செவிகளில் விழுமாறு அவர் மற்றவர்களை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: “நீங்கள் அவர் பின்னால் நகரெங்கும் சுற்றி வந்து தாக்குங்கள். உங்கள் கண்களினின்று யாரையும் தப்பவிட வேண்டாம்; இரக்கம் காட்ட வேண்டாம். முதியோர், இளைஞர், கன்னியர், குழந்தைகள், பெண்கள் அனைவரையும் கொன்றொழியுங்கள். அடையாளம் இடப்பட்ட மனிதர் எவரையும் நெருங்காதீர்கள். என் தூயகத்திலிருந்து தொடங்குங்கள்".

அவர்களும் ஆண்டவரது இல்லத்தின் முன்னிருந்த முதியோரிலிருந்து தொடங்கினர். அவர் அவர்களை நோக்கி, “கோவிலைக் கறைப்படுத்துங்கள்; முற்றங்களைக் கொலையுண்டவர்களால் நிரப்புங்கள்; புறப்படுங்கள்” என்றார். அவர்களும் நகருக்குள் சென்று வெட்டி வீழ்த்தினார்கள்.

ஆண்டவரது மாட்சி கோவிலின் வாயிற்படியை விட்டுக் கெருபுகளின் மேல் வந்து நின்றது. என் கண்ணெதிரே, கெருபுகள் தங்கள் இறக்கைகளை விரித்து நிலத்தினின்று மேலெழுந்தன. அவை சென்றபோது சக்கரங்களும் அவற்றுடன் சென்றன. ஆண்டவரது இல்லத்தின் கிழக்கு நுழைவாயிலில் அவை நின்றன. இஸ்ரயேலின் கடவுளது மாட்சி அவற்றின் மேல் இருந்தது. கெபார் ஆற்றோரம் இஸ்ரயேலின் கடவுளுக்குக் கீழே நான் கண்ட உயிரினங்கள் இவையே. அவை கெருபுகளே என்று நான் தெரிந்து கொண்டேன். அவை ஒவ்வொன்றுக்கும் நான்கு முகங்களும், நான்கு இறக்கைகளும் இருந்தன. அவற்றின் இறக்கைகளின் கீழ் மனிதக் கைகளின் சாயல் இருந்தது. அவற்றின் முகச் சாயல் கெபார் ஆற்றோரம் நான் கண்ட முகங்களைப் போன்றே தோன்றிற்று. அவை ஒவ்வொன்றும் நேர்முகமாகச் சென்றன.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Matthew 18 : 15-20 

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘If your brother does something wrong, go and have it out with him alone, between your two selves. If he listens to you, you have won back your brother. If he does not listen, take one or two others along with you: the evidence of two or three witnesses is required to sustain any charge. But if he refuses to listen to these, report it to the community; and if he refuses to listen to the community, treat him like a pagan or a tax collector.

  ‘I tell you solemnly, whatever you bind on earth shall be considered bound in heaven; whatever you loose on earth shall be considered loosed in heaven.

  ‘I tell you solemnly once again, if two of you on earth agree to ask anything at all, it will be granted to you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three meet in my name, I shall be there with them.’

A Reading from the Book of Ezekiel 9: 1-7,10:18-22 

As I, Ezekiel, listened, God shouted, ‘Come here, you scourges of the city, and bring your weapons of destruction.’ Immediately six men advanced from the upper north gate, each holding a deadly weapon. In the middle of them was a man in white, with a scribe’s ink horn in his belt. They came in and halted in front of the bronze altar. The glory of the God of Israel rose off the cherubs where it had been and went up to the threshold of the Temple. He called the man in white with a scribe’s ink horn in his belt and said, ‘Go all through the city, all through Jerusalem, and mark a cross on the foreheads of all who deplore and disapprove of all the filth practised in it.’ I heard him say to the others, ‘Follow him through the city, and strike. Show neither pity nor mercy; old men, young men, virgins, children, women, kill and exterminate them all. But do not touch anyone with a cross on his forehead. Begin at my sanctuary.’ So they began with the old men in front of the Temple. He said to them, ‘Defile the Temple; fill the courts with corpses, and go.’ They went out and hacked their way through the city.

  The glory of the Lord came out from the Temple threshold and paused over the cherubs. The cherubs spread their wings and rose from the ground to leave, and as I watched the wheels rose with them. They paused at the entrance to the east gate of the Temple of the Lord, and the glory of the God of Israel hovered over them. This was the creature that I had seen supporting the God of Israel beside the river Chebar, and I was now certain that these were cherubs. Each had four faces and four wings and what seemed to be human hands under their wings. Their faces were just as I had seen them beside the river Chebar. Each moved straight forward.

The disciples came to Jesus and said, ‘Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?’ So he called a little child to him and set the child in front of them. Then he said, ‘I tell you solemnly, unless you change and become like little children you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. And so, the one who makes himself as little as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

  ‘Anyone who welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.

  ‘See that you never despise any of these little ones, for I tell you that their angels in heaven are continually in the presence of my Father in heaven.

  ‘Tell me. Suppose a man has a hundred sheep and one of them strays; will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hillside and go in search of the stray? A Reading from the Book of Ezekiel 2: 8-3:4 

I, Ezekiel, heard a voice speaking. It said, ‘You, son of man, listen to the words I say; do not be a rebel like that rebellious set. Open your mouth and eat what I am about to give you.’ I looked. A hand was there, stretching out to me and holding a scroll. He unrolled it in front of me; it was written on back and front; on it was written ‘lamentations, wailings, moanings.’ He said, ‘Son of man, eat what is given to you; eat this scroll, then go and speak to the House of Israel.’ I opened my mouth; he gave me the scroll to eat and said, ‘Son of man, feed and be satisfied by the scroll I am giving you.’ I ate it, and it tasted sweet as honey.

சீடர்கள் இயேசுவை அணுகி, “விண்ணரசில் மிகப் பெரியவர் யார்?” என்று கேட்டார்கள். அவர் ஒரு சிறு பிள்ளையை அழைத்து அவர்கள் நடுவில் நிறுத்தி, பின்வருமாறு கூறினார்:

“நீங்கள் மனந்திரும்பிச் சிறு பிள்ளைகளைப் போல் ஆகாவிட்டால் விண்ணரசில் புகமாட்டீர்கள் என உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன். இந்தச் சிறு பிள்ளையைப்போலத் தம்மைத் தாழ்த்திக்கொள்பவரே விண்ணரசில் மிகப் பெரியவர். இத்தகைய சிறு பிள்ளை ஒன்றை என் பெயரால் ஏற்றுக்கொள்பவர் எவரும் என்னையே ஏற்றுக்கொள்கிறார்.

இச்சிறியோருள் ஒருவரையும் நீங்கள் இழிவாகக் கருதவேண்டாம்; கவனமாயிருங்கள்! இவர்களுடைய வானதூதர்கள் என் விண்ணகத் தந்தையின் திருமுன் எப்பொழுதும் இருக்கின்றார்கள் என நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன். ஏனெனில் மானிடமகன் நெறி தவறியோரை மீட்கவே வந்தார்.

இந்த நிகழ்ச்சியைப்பற்றி நீங்கள் என்ன நினைக்கிறீர்கள்? ஒருவரிடம் இருக்கும் நூறு ஆடுகளுள் ஒன்று வழி தவறி அலைந்தால், அவர் தொண்ணூற்றொன்பது ஆடுகளையும் மலைப் பகுதியில் விட்டுவிட்டு, வழிதவறி அலையும் ஆட்டைத் தேடிச் செல்வார் அல்லவா? அவர் அதைக் கண்டுபிடித்தால், வழிதவறி அலையாத தொண்ணூற்றொன்பது ஆடுகளையும் பற்றி மகிழ்ச்சியடைவதை விட, வழி தவறிய அந்த ஓர் ஆட்டைப் பற்றியே மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியடைவார் என உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன். அவ்வாறே இச்சிறியோருள் ஒருவர்கூட நெறி தவறிப் போகக் கூடாது என்பதே உங்கள் விண்ணகத் தந்தையின் திருவுளம்.”

ஆண்டவர் கூறுவது: “நீயோ மானிடா! நான் உனக்குச் சொல்வதைக் கேள். அந்தக் கலக வீட்டாரைப் போல் நீயும் கலகக்காரனாய் இருந்து விடாதே. உன் வாயைத் திறந்து நான் உனக்குத் தருவதைத் தின்றுவிடு” என்றார். அப்போது என்னை நோக்கி ஒரு கை நீள்வதைக் கண்டேன். அதில் சுருளேடு ஒன்று இருந்தது. அவர் அச்சுருளேட்டை என் முன் விரித்தார். உள்ளும் புறமும் எழுதப்பட்டிருந்த அதில் கதறல்களும் புலம்பல்களும் கேடுகளும் எழுதப்பட்டிருந்தன.

அவர் என்னை நோக்கி, “மானிடா! நீ காண்பதைத் தின்றுவிடு. இச்சுருளேட்டைத் தின்றபின் இஸ்ரயேல் வீட்டாரிடம் போய்ப் பேசு” என்றார். நானும் என் வாயைத் திறக்க, அவர் அச்சுருளேட்டை எனக்குத் தின்னக் கொடுத்தார். மேலும் அவர் என்னை நோக்கி, “மானிடா! நான் உனக்குத் தருகின்ற இச்சுருளேட்டைத் தின்று உன் வயிற்றை நிரப்பு” என்றார். நானும் தின்றேன். அது என் வாயில் தேன் போல் இனித்தது. மேலும் அவர் என்னை நோக்கி, “மானிடா! புறப்படு. இஸ்ரயேல் வீட்டாரிடம் போய் என் சொற்களை அவர்களுக்கு எடுத்துக் கூறு” என்றார்.
