உன் முழு இதயத்தோடு உன் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவரிடம் அன்பு கூர்வாயாக!

இணைச்சட்ட நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 6: 4-13

மோசே மக்களை நோக்கிக் கூறியது:

இஸ்ரயேலே, செவிகொடு! நம் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவர் ஒருவரே ஆண்டவர். உன் முழு இதயத்தோடும், உன் முழு உள்ளத்தோடும், உன் முழு ஆற்றலோடும் உன் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவரிடம் அன்பு கூர்வாயாக!

இன்று நான் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிடும் இவ்வார்த்தைகள் உன் உள்ளத்தில் இருக்கட்டும். நீ அவற்றை உன் பிள்ளைகளின் உள்ளத்தில் பதியுமாறு சொல். உன் வீட்டில் இருக்கும்போதும், உன் வழிப்பயணத்தின்போதும், நீ படுக்கும்போதும், எழும்போதும் அவற்றைப் பற்றிப் பேசு. உன் கையில் அடையாளமாக அவற்றைக் கட்டிக்கொள். உன் கண்களுக்கிடையே அடையாளப் பட்டமாக அவை இருக்கட்டும். உன் வீட்டின் கதவு நிலைகளிலும் நுழைவாயில்களிலும் அவற்றை எழுது.

மேலும், ஆபிரகாம், ஈசாக்கு, யாக்கோபு எனும் உன் மூதாதையருக்குக் கொடுப்பதாக ஆணையிட்டுக் கூறிய நாட்டுக்குள் உன் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவர் உன்னைப் புகச் செய்யும்போதும், நீ கட்டி எழுப்பாத, பரந்த வசதியான நகர்களையும், நீ நிரப்பாத எல்லாச் செல்வங்களால் நிறைந்த வீடுகளையும், நீ வெட்டாத பாறைக் கிணறுகளையும், நீ நடாத திராட்சைத் தோட்டங்களையும், ஒலிவத் தோப்புகளையும் அவர் உனக்குக் கொடுக்கும்போதும், நீ உண்டு நிறைவுகொள்ளும்போதும், அடிமைத்தன வீடாகிய எகிப்து நாட்டினின்று உன்னை வெளியே கூட்டிவந்த ஆண்டவரை மறந்துவிடாதபடி கவனமாய் இரு.

உன் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவருக்கு அஞ்சி நட! அவருக்குப் பணிந்து அவர் பெயராலே ஆணையிடு!

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Matthew 17: 14-20 

And when they came to the crowd, a man came up to him and kneeling before him said, “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and he suffers terribly; for often he falls into the fire, and often into the water. And I brought him to your disciples, and they could not heal him.” And Jesus answered, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me.” And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon came out of him, and the boy was cured instantly. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from hence to yonder place,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.”

“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD;

and you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. And these words which I command you this day shall be upon your heart; and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. And you shall bind them as a sign upon your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு தம் சீடரைப் பார்த்து, “என்னைப் பின்பற்ற விரும்பும் எவரும் தன்னலம் துறந்து, தம் சிலுவையைத் தூக்கிக்கொண்டு என்னைப் பின்பற்றட்டும். ஏனெனில் தம் உயிரைக் காத்துக்கொள்ள விரும்பும் எவரும் அதை இழந்துவிடுவர். மாறாக, என் பொருட்டுத் தம்மையே அழித்துக் கொள்கிற எவரும் வாழ்வடைவர். மனிதர் உலகம் முழுவதையும் ஆதாயமாக்கிக் கொண்டாலும் தம் வாழ்வையே இழப்பாரெனில் அவருக்குக் கிடைக்கும் பயன் என்ன? அவர் தம் வாழ்வுக்கு ஈடாக எதைக் கொடுப்பார்?

மானிட மகன் தம் தந்தையின் மாட்சியோடு தம் வானதூதர்களுடன் வரப்போகிறார்; அப்பொழுது ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் அவரவர் செயலுக்கு ஏற்பக் கைம்மாறு அளிப்பார். நான் உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்: இங்கே இருப்பவருள் சிலர் மானிட மகனது ஆட்சி வருவதைக் காண்பதற்கு முன் சாகமாட்டார்” என்றார்.

உங்களுக்கு முற்பட்ட பண்டைக் காலத்தைப் பற்றிக் கேட்டுத் தெரிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள். கடவுள், உலகில் மனிதனைப் படைத்த நாள் முதல், வானத்தின் ஒருமுனை முதல் மறுமுனை வரைக்கும் எங்காவது இத்தகைய மாபெரும் செயல் நடந்ததுண்டோ? அல்லது இதுபோல் கேள்விப் பட்டதுண்டா? நெருப்பின் நடுவிலிருந்து பேசிய கடவுளின் குரலொலியைக் கேட்டும், நீங்கள் உயிர்வாழ்ந்தது போல் வேறு எந்த மக்களினமாவது வாழ்ந்ததுண்டா? அல்லது, உங்கள் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவர் எகிப்தில் உங்கள் கண்முன்னே உங்களுக்குச் செய்த அனைத்தையும் போல சோதனைகள், அடையாளங்கள், அருஞ்செயல்கள், போர், வலிய கரம், ஓங்கிய புயம் மற்றும் அச்சுறுத்தும் நிகழ்ச்சிகள் மூலம் ஓர் இனத்தை வேறொரு நாட்டினின்று தமக்கென உரிமையாக்கிக் கொள்ள முன்வரும் கடவுள் உண்டா?

‘ஆண்டவரே கடவுள், அவரைத் தவிர வேறு எவரும் இலர்’ என நீங்கள் அறிந்துகொள்ளும்படியாக இவை உங்கள் கண்முன் நிறைவேற்றப்பட்டன. நீங்கள் கற்றுக்கொள்ளும்படி வானினின்று வந்த அவர்தம் குரலை நீங்கள் கேட்குமாறு செய்தார். தமது பெரும் நெருப்பை மண்ணுலகில் நீங்கள் காணச் செய்தார். அந்நெருப்பினின்று வந்த அவரது வாக்கை நீங்கள் கேட்டீர்கள். உங்கள் மூதாதையர்க்கு அவர் அன்பு காட்டியதால், அவர்களுக்குப் பின், அவர்களுடைய வழிமரபினரைத் தேர்ந்துகொண்டார். எனவே அவரே முன்நின்று தமது பேராற்றலுடன் உங்களை எகிப்திலிருந்து கூட்டி வந்தார். உங்களை விட ஆற்றலும் வலிமையும் மிகுந்த வேற்றினத்தாரை உங்கள் முன்னின்று துரத்தவும், உங்களை அவர்களது நாட்டிற்குள் இட்டுச்சென்று இன்றும் உள்ளது போல், அதை உங்களது உரிமைச் சொத்தாகத் தரவுமே கூட்டி வந்தார்.

‘மேலே விண்ணிலும் கீழே மண்ணிலும் ஆண்டவரே கடவுள், அவரைத் தவிர வேறு எவரும் இலர்’ என இன்று அறிந்து, உங்கள் உள்ளத்தில் இருத்துங்கள். நான் இன்று உங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிடும் அவரது நியமங்களையும் கட்டளைகளையும் பின்பற்றுங்கள். அப்பொழுது உங்களுக்கும், உங்களுக்குப் பின்வரும் உங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்கும் எல்லாம் நலமாகும். மேலும் உங்கள் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவர் உங்களுக்கு எக்காலத்திற்கும் கொடுக்கும் மண்ணில் நீங்கள் நெடுநாள் வாழ்வீர்கள்.

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘If anyone wants to be a follower of mine, let him renounce himself and take up his cross and follow me. For anyone who wants to save his life will lose it; but anyone who loses his life for my sake will find it. What, then, will a man gain if he wins the whole world and ruins his life? Or what has a man to offer in exchange for his life?

  ‘For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and, when he does, he will reward each one according to his behaviour. I tell you solemnly, there are some of these standing here who will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming with his kingdom.’

“For ask now of the days that are past, which were before you, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from one end of heaven to the other, whether such a great thing as this has ever happened or was ever heard of. Did any people ever hear the voice of a god speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and still live? Or has any god ever attempted to go and take a nation for himself from the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs, by wonders, and by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes? To you it was shown, that you might know that the Lord is God; there is no other besides him. Out of heaven he let you hear his voice, that he might discipline you; and on earth he let you see his great fire, and you heard his words out of the midst of the fire.
