அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு கோவிலில் கற்பித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும்போது, “மெசியா தாவீதின் மகன் என்று மறைநூல் அறிஞர் கூறுவது எப்படி? தூய ஆவியின் தூண்டுதலால், ‘ஆண்டவர் என் தலைவரிடம், “நான் உம் பகைவரை உமக்கு அடிபணியவைக்கும் வரை நீர் என் வலப்பக்கம் வீற்றிரும்” என்று உரைத்தார்’ எனத் தாவீதே கூறியுள்ளார் அல்லவா! தாவீது அவரைத் தலைவர் எனக் குறிப்பிடுவதால் அவர் அவருக்கு மகனாக இருப்பது எப்படி?” என்று கேட்டார். அப்போது பெருந்திரளான மக்கள் இயேசு கூறியவற்றை மனமுவந்து கேட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

கிறிஸ்துவில் வாழவிரும்புவோர் இன்னலுறுவர்.

திருத்தூதர் பவுல் திமொத்தேயுவுக்கு எழுதிய இரண்டாம் திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 3: 10-17

அன்புக்குரியவரே, என் போதனை, நடத்தை, நோக்கம், நம்பிக்கை, பொறுமை, அன்பு, மன உறுதி ஆகியவற்றைப் பின்பற்றி வந்திருக்கிறாய். அந்தியோக்கியாவிலும், இக்கோனியாவிலும், லிஸ்திராவிலும் எனக்கு நேரிட்ட இன்னல்களும் துன்பங்களும் உனக்குத் தெரியும். இத்தகைய இன்னல்களைப் பொறுத்துக் கொண்டேன். இவை அனைத்திலிருந்தும் ஆண்டவர் என்னை விடுவித்தார். கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவிடம் இணைந்து இறைப்பற்றுடன் வாழ விரும்புவோர் அனைவரும் இன்னலுறுவர். ஆனால் தீயோர்களும் எத்தர்களும் மேலும் மேலும் கேடுறுவார்கள். ஏமாற்றும் இவர்கள் ஏமாந்து போவார்கள்.

நீ கற்று, உறுதியாய் அறிந்தவற்றில் நிலைத்து நில்; யாரிடம் கற்றாய் என்பது உனக்குத் தெரியுமே. நீ குழந்தைப் பருவம் முதல் திருமறை நூலைக் கற்று அறிந்திருக்கிறாய். அது இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் மீதுள்ள நம்பிக்கையால் உன்னை மீட்புக்கு வழி நடத்தும் ஞானத்தை அளிக்க வல்லது. மறைநூல் அனைத்தும் கடவுளின் தூண்டுதல் பெற்றுள்ளது. அது கற்பிப்பதற்கும் கண்டிப்பதற்கும் சீராக்குவதற்கும் நேர்மையாக வாழப் பயிற்றுவிப்பதற்கும் பயனுள்ளது. இவ்வாறு கடவுளின் மனிதர் தேர்ச்சி பெற்று நற்செயல் அனைத்தையும் செய்யத் தகுதி பெறுகிறார்.

Beloved: You have followed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, my persecutions and sufferings that happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra— which persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me. Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Mark 12: 28b-34

At that time: One of the scribes came up and asked Jesus, “Which commandment is the most important of all?” Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” And the scribe said to him, “You are right, Teacher. You have truly said that he is one, and there is no other besides him. And to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbour as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.” And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And after that no one dared to ask him any more questions.

A Reading from the Second Letter of St.Paul to Timothy 2: 8-15

Beloved: Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel, for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound! Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. The saying is trustworthy, for: If we have died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us; if we are faithless, he remains faithful—for he cannot deny himself. Remind them of these things, and charge them before God not to quarrel about words, which does no good, but only ruins the hearers. Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

அக்காலத்தில்

மறைநூல் அறிஞருள் ஒருவர், இயேசு சதுசேயர்களுக்கு நன்கு பதில் கூறிக்கொண்டிருந்ததைக் கண்டு அவரை அணுகி வந்து, “அனைத்திலும் முதன்மையான கட்டளை எது?” என்று கேட்டார். அதற்கு இயேசு, “இஸ்ரயேலே கேள். நம் ஆண்டவராகிய கடவுள் ஒருவரே ஆண்டவர். உன் முழு இதயத்தோடும் முழு உள்ளத்தோடும் முழு மனத்தோடும் முழு ஆற்றலோடும் உன் ஆண்டவராகிய கடவுளிடம் அன்புகூர்வாயாக’ என்பது முதன்மையான கட்டளை. ‘உன்மீது நீ அன்புகூர்வது போல் உனக்கு அடுத்திருப்பவர் மீதும் அன்புகூர்வாயாக’ என்பது இரண்டாவது கட்டளை. இவற்றைவிட மேலான கட்டளை வேறு எதுவும் இல்லை” என்றார். அதற்கு மறைநூல் அறிஞர் அவரிடம், “நன்று போதகரே, ‘கடவுள் ஒருவரே; அவரைத் தவிர வேறு ஒரு கடவுள் இல்லை’ என்று நீர் கூறியது உண்மையே. அவரிடம் முழு இதயத்தோடும் முழு அறிவோடும் முழு ஆற்றலோடும் அன்பு செலுத்துவதும், தன்னிடம் அன்பு கொள்வது போல் அடுத்திருப்பவரிடம் அன்பு செலுத்துவதும் எரிபலிகளையும் வேறு பலிகளையும் விட மேலானது” என்று கூறினார். அவர் அறிவுத்திறனோடு பதிலளித்ததைக் கண்ட இயேசு அவரிடம், “நீர் இறையாட்சியினின்று தொலையில் இல்லை” என்றார். அதன்பின் எவரும் அவரிடம் எதையும் கேட்கத் துணியவில்லை.
