Psalm 30(31):20-24 

Let your heart take courage, all who hope in the Lord.

How great is the goodness, Lord,

  that you keep for those who fear you,

that you show to those who trust you

  in the sight of men.

Let your heart take courage, all who hope in the Lord.

You hide them in the shelter of your presence

  from the plotting of men;

you keep them safe within your tent

  from disputing tongues.

Let your heart take courage, all who hope in the Lord.

Blessed be the Lord who has shown me

  the wonders of his love

  in a fortified city.

‘I am far removed from your sight’

  I said in my alarm.

The example of the Old Testament saints.

Hebrews 11:32-40 

Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel and the prophets – these were men who through faith conquered kingdoms, did what is right and earned the promises. They could keep a lion’s mouth shut, put out blazing fires and emerge unscathed from battle. They were weak people who were given strength, to be brave in war and drive back foreign invaders. Some came back to their wives from the dead, by resurrection; and others submitted to torture, refusing release so that they would rise again to a better life. Some had to bear being pilloried and flogged, or even chained up in prison. They were stoned, or sawn in half, or beheaded; they were homeless, and dressed in the skins of sheep and goats; they were penniless and were given nothing but ill-treatment. They were too good for the world and they went out to live in deserts and mountains and in caves and ravines. These are all heroes of faith, but they did not receive what was promised, since God had made provision for us to have something better, and they were not to reach perfection except with us.

நற்செய்தி வாசகம் 

அதிகாரத்தோடு அவர்களுக்குக் கற்பித்து வந்தார். 

மாற்கு எழுதிய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 1: 21-28 

ஒருமுறை இயேசுவும் அவர் சீடர்களும் கப்பர்நாகும் ஊரில் நுழைந்தார்கள். ஓய்வு நாள்களில் இயேசு தொழுகைக்கூடத்திற்குச் சென்று கற்பித்து வந்தார். அவருடைய போதனையைக் குறித்து மக்கள் வியப்பில் ஆழ்ந்தார்கள். ஏனெனில் அவர் மறைநூல் அறிஞரைப் போலன்றி, அதிகாரத்தோடு அவர்களுக்குக் கற்பித்து வந்தார். அப்போது அவர்களுடைய தொழுகைக்கூடத்தில் தீய ஆவி பிடித்திருந்த ஒருவர் இருந்தார். அவரைப் பிடித்திருந்த ஆவி, ``நாசரேத்து இயேசுவே, உமக்கு இங்கு என்ன வேலை? எங்களை ஒழித்துவிடவா வந்தீர்? நீர் யார் என எனக்குத் தெரியும். நீர் கடவுளுக்கு அர்ப்பணமானவர்'' என்று கத்தியது. ``வாயை மூடு, இவரை விட்டு வெளியே போ'' என்று இயேசு அதனை அதட்டினார். அப்பொழுது அத்தீய ஆவி அம் மனிதருக்கு வலிப்பு உண்டாக்கிப் பெருங் கூச்சலிட்டு அவரை விட்டு வெளியேறிற்று. அவர்கள் அனைவரும் திகைப்புற்று, ``இது என்ன? இது அதிகாரம் கொண்ட புதிய போதனையாய் இருக்கிறதே! இவர் தீய ஆவிகளுக்கும் கட்டளையிடுகிறார்; அவையும் இவருக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிகின்றனவே!'' என்று தங்களிடையே பேசிக்கொண்டனர். அவரைப் பற்றிய செய்தி உடனே கலிலேயாவின் சுற்றுப்புறமெங்கும் பரவியது. 

இது கிறிஸ்து வழங்கும் நற்செய்தி.

இரண்டாம் வாசகம் கன்னிப் பெண் தூயவராக இருக்கும் வண்ணம் ஆண்டவருக்கு உரியவற்றில் அக்கறையாக இருக்கிறார். திருத்தூதர் பவுல் கொரிந்தியருக்கு எழுதிய முதல் திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 7: 32-35

கன்னிப் பெண் தூயவராக இருக்கும் வண்ணம் ஆண்டவருக்கு உரியவற்றில் அக்கறையாக இருக்கிறார். 

திருத்தூதர் பவுல் கொரிந்தியருக்கு எழுதிய முதல் திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 7: 32-35 

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே, நீங்கள் கவலையற்றவர்களாய் இருக்க வேண்டுமென்றே நான் விரும்புகிறேன். மணமாகாதவர் ஆண்டவருக்கு உரியவற்றில் அக்கறை கொள்கிறார்; எப்படி அவருக்கு உகந்தவற்றைச் செய்யலாம் என எண்ணிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார். ஆனால் மணமானவர் உலகுக்கு உரியவற்றில் அக்கறை கொள்கிறார்; எப்படித் தம் மனைவிக்கு உகந்தவற்றைச் செய்யலாம் என எண்ணிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறார். இவ்வாறு அவர் மனம் பிளவுபட்டுள்ளது. மணமாகாத பெண்ணும் கன்னிப் பெண்ணும் ஆண்டவருக்கு உரியவற்றில் அக்கறை கொள்வதால் அவர்கள் உடலிலும் உள்ளத்திலும் தூயோர் ஆகின்றனர். ஆனால் மணமான பெண், உலகுக்கு உரியவற்றில் அக்கறை கொள்வதால் எப்படித் தம் கணவருக்கு உகந்தவற்றைச் செய்யலாம் என எண்ணிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறார். உங்களைக் கட்டுப்படுத்துவதற்காக அல்ல, உங்கள் நலனுக்காகவே இதை நான் சொல்கிறேன். எல்லாம் ஒழுங்காய் இருக்கவும் நீங்கள் முழு மனத்தோடு ஆண்டவரிடம் பற்றுக்கொண்டிருக்கவுமே இவ்வாறு சொல்கிறேன். 

இது ஆண்டவர் வழங்கும் அருள்வாக்கு.

"He taught as a man who has authority" 

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark (1, 21-28) 

Jesus and his disciples entered Capernaum. Immediately on the Sabbath day he went to the synagogue and there he was teaching. We were struck by his teaching, because he taught as a man of authority, and not like the scribes. Now there was in their synagogue a man tormented by an unclean spirit, who began to cry out, "What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth?" Have you come to lose us? I know who you are: you are the Holy One of God. "Jesus called out to him sharply:" Shut up! Get out of this man. The unclean spirit made him go into convulsions, then, uttering a loud cry, came out of him. They were all stunned and asked each other: "What does that mean?" Here is a new teaching, given with authority! He even commands unclean spirits, and they obey him. 

The Gospel of the Lord

"The woman who remains a virgin cares about the affairs of the Lord, in order to be sanctified" 

the first letter of Saint Paul the apostle to the Corinthians (7, 32-35) 

Brethren, I would like to see you free from worry. The one who is not married cares about the Lord's affairs, he seeks how to please the Lord. He who is married cares about the affairs of this world, he seeks how to please his wife, and he finds himself divided. The woman without a husband, or one who remains a virgin, cares about the affairs of the Lord, in order to be sanctified in body and spirit. The one who is married is concerned with the affairs of this world, she is looking for how to please her husband. It is in your interest that I say this; it is not to set a trap for you, but to offer you what is good, so that you may be attached to the Lord without sharing.

“I will raise up a prophet; I will put my words in his mouth ” 

the book of Deuteronomy (18, 15-20) 

Moses said to the people: “In the midst of you, among your brethren, the Lord your God will raise up a prophet like me, and you will listen to him. This is exactly what you asked of the Lord your God, at Mount Horeb, on the day of the assembly, when you said: “I no longer want to hear the voice of the Lord my God, I no longer want to see this great flame. , I do not want to die !" And the Lord said to me then: “They did well to say that. I will raise up a prophet like you among their brethren; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will speak to them whatever I command him. If anyone does not listen to the words that this prophet will speak on my behalf, I will ask him to account.
