நாளைய வாழ்க்கைபற்றி உங்களுக்குத் தெரியாது.

திருத்தூதர் யாக்கோபு எழுதிய திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 4: 13-17

“இன்றோ நாளையோ குறிப்பிட்ட நகரத்துக்குப் போய் அங்கே ஓராண்டு தங்கி வாணிகம் செய்வோம்; பணம் ஈட்டுவோம்” எனச் சொல்லுகிறவர்களே,

சற்றுக் கேளுங்கள். நாளைக்கு உங்கள் வாழ்க்கை எப்படி இருக்கும் என்பது உங்களுக்குத் தெரியாதே! நொடிப்பொழுதில் தோன்றி மறையும் புகை போன்றவர்கள் நீங்கள். ஆகவே அவ்வாறு சொல்லாமல், “ஆண்டவருக்குத் திருவுளமானால், நாங்கள் உயிரோடு இருப்போம்; இன்னின்ன செய்வோம்” என்று சொல்வதே முறை. இப்பொழுதோ நீங்கள் வீம்பு பாராட்டிப் பெருமை கொள்கிறீர்கள். இது போன்ற பெருமையெல்லாம் தீமையானது. நன்மை செய்ய ஒருவருக்குத் தெரிந்திருந்தும் அவர் அதைச் செய்யாவிட்டால், அது பாவம்.

You cannot know what will happen tomorrow

James 4: 13-17 

Here is the answer for those of you who talk like this: ‘Today or tomorrow, we are off to this or that town; we are going to spend a year there, trading, and make some money.’

  You never know what will happen tomorrow: you are no more than a mist that is here for a little while and then disappears. The most you should ever say is: ‘If it is the Lord’s will, we shall still be alive to do this or that.’ But how proud and sure of yourselves you are now! Pride of this kind is always wicked. Everyone who knows 

what is the right thing to do and doesn’t do it commits a sin.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு, பிலிப்புச் செசரியா பகுதிக்குச் சென்றார். அவர் தம் சீடரை நோக்கி, “மானிடமகன் யாரென்று மக்கள் சொல்கிறார்கள்?” என்று கேட்டார்.

அதற்கு அவர்கள், “சிலர் திருமுழுக்கு யோவான் எனவும் வேறு சிலர் எலியா எனவும் மற்றும் சிலர் எரேமியா அல்லது பிற இறைவாக்கினருள் ஒருவர் என்றும் சொல்கின்றனர்” என்றார்கள்.

“ஆனால் நீங்கள், நான் யார் எனச் சொல்கிறீர்கள்?” என்று அவர் கேட்டார்.

சீமோன் பேதுரு மறுமொழியாக, “நீர் மெசியா, வாழும் கடவுளின் மகன்” என்று உரைத்தார். அதற்கு இயேசு, “யோனாவின் மகனான சீமோனே, நீ பேறுபெற்றவன். ஏனெனில் எந்த மனிதரும் இதை உனக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தவில்லை; மாறாக விண்ணகத்திலுள்ள என் தந்தையே வெளிப்படுத்தியுள்ளார். எனவே நான் உனக்குக் கூறுகிறேன்: உன் பெயர் பேதுரு; இந்தப் பாறையின் மேல் என் திருச்சபையைக் கட்டுவேன். பாதாளத்தின் வாயில்கள் அதன் மேல் வெற்றி கொள்ளா. விண்ணரசின் திறவுகோல்களை நான் உன்னிடம் தருவேன். மண்ணுலகில் நீ தடைசெய்வது விண்ணுலகிலும் தடை செய்யப்படும். மண்ணுலகில் நீ அனுமதிப்பது விண்ணுலகிலும் அனுமதிக்கப்படும்” என்றார்.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Matthew 16: 13-19 

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi he put this question to his disciples, ‘Who do people say the Son of Man is?’ And they said, ‘Some say he is John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.’ ‘But you,’ he said ‘who do you say I am?’ Then Simon Peter spoke up, ‘You are the Christ,’ he said ‘the Son of the living God.’ Jesus replied, ‘Simon son of Jonah, you are a happy man! Because it was not flesh and blood that revealed this to you but my Father in heaven. So I now say to you: You are Peter and on this rock I will build my Church. And the gates of the underworld can never hold out against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: whatever you bind on earth shall be considered bound in heaven; whatever you loose on earth shall be considered loosed in heaven.’

Watch over the flock, not simply as a duty but gladly

1 Peter 5: 1-4 

Now I have something to tell your elders: I am an elder myself, and a witness to the sufferings of Christ, and with you I have a share in the glory that is to be revealed. Be the shepherds of the flock of God that is entrusted to you: watch over it, not simply as a duty but gladly, because God wants it; not for sordid money, but because you are eager to do it. Never be a dictator over any group that is put in your charge, but be an example that the whole flock can follow. When the chief shepherd appears, you will be given the crown of unfading glory.
