சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

தூய ஆவியார் கூறுவது: “இன்று நீங்கள் அவரது குரலைக் கேட்பீர்களென்றால், பாலை நிலத்தில் சோதனை நாளன்று கிளர்ச்சியின் போது இருந்ததுபோல, உங்கள் இதயத்தைக் கடினப்படுத்திக் கொள்ளாதீர்கள். அங்கே உங்கள் மூதாதையர் நாற்பது ஆண்டுகள் என் செயல்களைக் கண்டிருந்தும் என்னைச் சோதித்துப் பார்த்தனர். எனவே, அத்தலைமுறையினர் மீது வெறுப்புக்கொண்டு, ‘எப்போதும் இவர்களது உள்ளம் தவறுகிறது; என் வழிகளை இவர்கள் அறியாதவர்கள்; எனவே நான் சினமுற்று, “நான் அளிக்கும் இளைப்பாற்றியின் நாட்டிற்குள் நுழையவே மாட்டார்கள்” என்று ஆணையிட்டுக் கூறினேன்’ என்றார் கடவுள்.”

அன்பர்களே, நம்பிக்கை கொள்ளாத தீய உள்ளம், வாழும் கடவுளை விட்டு விலகும். இத்தகைய தீய உள்ளம் உங்களுள் எவருக்கும் இராதபடி பார்த்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள். உங்களுள் எவரும் பாவத்தால் ஏமாற்றப்பட்டு, கடின உள்ளத்தினர் ஆகாதவாறு, ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் “இன்றே” என எண்ணி, நாள்தோறும் ஒருவருக்கொருவர் அறிவுரை கூறுங்கள். தொடக்கத்தில் நாம் கொண்டிருந்த திட நம்பிக்கையை இறுதிவரை உறுதியாகப் பற்றிக்கொண்டிருந்தால் நாமும் கிறிஸ்துவின் பங்காளிகளாவோம்.

The leprosy left the man at once, and he was cured

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Mark 1:40-45 

A leper came to Jesus and pleaded on his knees: ‘If you want to’ he said ‘you can cure me.’ Feeling sorry for him, Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him. ‘Of course I want to!’ he said. ‘Be cured!’ And the leprosy left him at once and he was cured. Jesus immediately sent him away and sternly ordered him, ‘Mind you say nothing to anyone, but go and show yourself to the priest, and make the offering for your healing prescribed by Moses as evidence of your recovery.’ The man went away, but then started talking about it freely and telling the story everywhere, so that Jesus could no longer go openly into any town, but had to stay outside in places where nobody lived. Even so, people from all around would come to him.

Keep encouraging one another

Hebrews 3:7-14 

The Holy Spirit says: If only you would listen to him today; do not harden your hearts, as happened in the Rebellion, on the Day of Temptation in the wilderness, when your ancestors challenged me and tested me, though they had seen what I could do for forty years. That was why I was angry with that generation and said: How unreliable these people who refuse to grasp my ways! And so, in anger, I swore that not one would reach the place of rest I had for them. Take care, brothers, that there is not in any one of your community a wicked mind, so unbelieving as to turn away from the living God. Every day, as long as this ‘today’ lasts, keep encouraging one another so that none of you is hardened by the lure of sin, because we shall remain co-heirs with Christ only if we keep a grasp on our first confidence right to the end.

இயேசு பல்வேறு பிணிகளால் வருந்தியவரைக் குணப்படுத்தினார்.

இயேசுவும் சீடர்களும் தொழுகைக்கூடத்தை விட்டு வெளியே வந்து யாக்கோபு, யோவானுடன் சீமோன், அந்திரேயா ஆகியோரின் வீட்டிற்குள் சென்றார்கள்.

சீமோனுடைய மாமியார் காய்ச்சலாய்க் கிடந்தார். உடனே அவர்கள் அதைப் பற்றி இயேசுவிடம் சொன்னார்கள். இயேசு அவரருகில் சென்று கையைப் பிடித்து அவரைத் தூக்கினார். காய்ச்சல் அவரை விட்டு நீங்கிற்று. அவர் அவர்களுக்குப் பணிவிடை செய்தார்.

மாலை வேளையில், கதிரவன் மறையும் நேரத்தில் நோயாளர்கள், பேய்பிடித்தவர்கள் அனைவரையும் மக்கள் அவரிடம் கொண்டு வந்தார்கள். நகர் முழுவதும் வீட்டு வாயில்முன் கூடியிருந்தது. பல்வேறு பிணிகளால் வருந்திய பலரை அவர் குணப்படுத்தினார். பல பேய்களையும் ஓட்டினார்; அந்தப் பேய்கள் அவரை அறிந்திருந்ததால் அவற்றை அவர் பேசவிடவில்லை.

இயேசு விடியற்காலைக் கருக்கலில் எழுந்து தனிமையான ஓர் இடத்திற்குப் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றார். அங்கே அவர் இறைவனிடம் வேண்டிக் கொண்டிருந்தார். சீமோனும் அவருடன் இருந்தவர்களும் அவரைத் தேடிச் சென்றார்கள். அவரைக் கண்டதும், “எல்லாரும் உம்மைத் தேடிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள்” என்றார்கள். அதற்கு அவர், “நாம் அடுத்த ஊர்களுக்குப் போவோம், வாருங்கள். அங்கும் நான் நற்செய்தியைப் பறைசாற்ற வேண்டும்; ஏனெனில் இதற்காகவே நான் வந்திருக்கிறேன்” என்று சொன்னார். பின்பு அவர் கலிலேய நாடு முழுவதும் சென்று அவர்களுடைய தொழுகைக்கூடங்களில் நற்செய்தியைப் பறைசாற்றிப் பேய்களை ஓட்டி வந்தார்.

இயேசு மக்கள் பாவங்களுக்குக் கழுவாய் ஆகும்படி எல்லாவற்றிலும் எல்லாரைப் போல் ஆகவேண்டியதாயிற்று

எபிரேயருக்கு எழுதப்பட்ட திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 2: 14-18

ஊனும் இரத்தமும் கொண்ட பிள்ளைகளைப்போல் கிறிஸ்துவும் அதே இயல்பில் பங்கு கொண்டார். இவ்வாறு சாவின்மேல் ஆற்றல் கொண்டிருந்த அலகையைச் சாவின் வழியாகவே அழித்துவிட்டார். வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் சாவு பற்றிய அச்சத்தினால் அடிமைப்பட்டிருந்தவர்களை விடுவித்தார்.

ஏனெனில் அவர் வானதூதருக்குத் துணை நிற்கவில்லை. மாறாக, ஆபிரகாமின் வழிமரபினருக்கே துணை நின்றார் என்பது கண்கூடு. ஆதலின், கடவுள் பணியில் அவர் இரக்கமும் நம்பிக்கையும் உள்ள தலைமைக் குருவாயிருந்து, மக்களுடைய பாவங்களுக்குக் கழுவாயாகுமாறு எல்லாவற்றிலும் தம் சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளைப் போல் ஆகவேண்டிய தாயிற்று. இவ்வாறு தாமே சோதனைக்கு உள்ளாகித் துன்பப்பட்டதனால் சோதிக்கப்படுவோருக்கு உதவி செய்ய அவர் வல்லவர்.

He cast out devils and cured many who were suffering from disease

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Mark 1: 29-39 

On leaving the synagogue, Jesus went with James and John straight to the house of Simon and Andrew. Now Simon’s mother-in-law had gone to bed with fever, and they told him about her straightaway. He went to her, took her by the hand and helped her up. And the fever left her and she began to wait on them.

  That evening, after sunset, they brought to him all who were sick and those who were possessed by devils. The whole town came crowding round the door, and he cured many who were suffering from diseases of one kind or another; he also cast out many devils, but he would not allow them to speak, because they knew who he was.

  In the morning, long before dawn, he got up and left the house, and went off to a lonely place and prayed there. Simon and his companions set out in search of him, and when they found him they said, ‘Everybody is looking for you.’ He answered, ‘Let us go elsewhere, to the neighbouring country towns, so that I can preach there too, because that is why I came.’ And he went all through Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and casting out devils.

He took to himself descent from Abraham

Hebrews 2: 14-18 

Since all the children share the same blood and flesh, Christ too shared equally in it, so that by his death he could take away all the power of the devil, who had power over death, and set free all those who had been held in slavery all their lives by the fear of death. For it was not the angels that he took to himself; he took to himself descent from Abraham. It was essential that he should in this way become completely like his brothers so that he could be a compassionate and trustworthy high priest of God’s religion, able to atone for human sins. That is, because he has himself been through temptation he is able to help others who are tempted.
