ஆண்டவராகிய கடவுள் ஏதேன் தோட்டத்தில் தாம் உருவாக்கிய மனிதனை வைத்தார்.

அந்நாள்களில்

ஆண்டவராகிய கடவுள் மண்ணுலகையும், விண்ணுலகையும் உருவாக்கியபொழுது, மண்ணுலகில் நிலவெளியின் எவ்விதப் புதரும் தோன்றியிருக்கவில்லை; வயல்வெளியின் எவ்விதச் செடியும் முளைத்திருக்கவில்லை; ஏனெனில் ஆண்டவராகிய கடவுள் மண்ணுலகின் மேல் இன்னும் மழை பெய்விக்கவில்லை; மண்ணைப் பண்படுத்த மானிடர் எவரும் இருக்கவில்லை. ஆனால் நிலத்திலிருந்து மூடுபனி எழும்பி நிலம் முழுவதையும் நனைத்தது.

அப்பொழுது ஆண்டவராகிய கடவுள் நிலத்தின் மண்ணால் மனிதனை உருவாக்கி, அவன் நாசிகளில் உயிர் மூச்சை ஊத, மனிதன் உயிர் உள்ளவன் ஆனான்.

ஆண்டவராகிய கடவுள் கிழக்கே இருந்த ஏதேனில் ஒரு தோட்டம் அமைத்துத் தாம் உருவாக்கிய மனிதனை அங்கே வைத்தார். ஆண்டவராகிய கடவுள் கண்ணுக்கு அழகானதும் உண்பதற்குச் சுவையானதுமான எல்லா வகை மரங்களையும், தோட்டத்தின் நடுவில் வாழ்வின் மரத்தையும் நன்மை தீமை அறிவதற்கு ஏதுவான மரத்தையும் மண்ணிலிருந்து வளரச் செய்தார்.

ஏதேன் தோட்டத்தைப் பண்படுத்தவும் பாதுகாக்கவும் ஆண்டவராகிய கடவுள் மனிதனை அங்கு கொண்டுவந்து குடியிருக்கச் செய்தார். ஆண்டவராகிய கடவுள் மனிதனிடம், “தோட்டத்தில் இருக்கும் எந்த மரத்திலிருந்தும் உன் விருப்பம் போல் நீ உண்ணலாம். ஆனால் நன்மை தீமை அறிவதற்கு ஏதுவான மரத்திலிருந்து மட்டும் உண்ணாதே; ஏனெனில் அதிலிருந்து நீ உண்ணும் நாளில் சாகவே சாவாய்” என்று கட்டளையிட்டுச் சொன்னார்.

It is what comes out of a man that makes him unclean

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Mark 7:14-23 

Jesus called the people to him and said, ‘Listen to me, all of you, and understand. Nothing that goes into a man from outside can make him unclean; it is the things that come out of a man that make him unclean. If anyone has ears to hear, let him listen to this.’

  When he had gone back into the house, away from the crowd, his disciples questioned him about the parable. He said to them, ‘Do you not understand either? Can you not see that whatever goes into a man from outside cannot make him unclean, because it does not go into his heart but through his stomach and passes out into the sewer?’ (Thus he pronounced all foods clean.) And he went on, ‘It is what comes out of a man that makes him unclean. For it is from within, from men’s hearts, that evil intentions emerge: fornication, theft, murder, adultery, avarice, malice, deceit, indecency, envy, slander, pride, folly. All these evil things come from within and make a man unclean.’

The Lord God fashioned man out of dust

A Reading from the Book of Genesis 2: 4-9,15-17 

At the time when the Lord God made earth and heaven there was as yet no wild bush on the earth nor had any wild plant yet sprung up, for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth, nor was there any man to till the soil. However, a flood was rising from the earth and watering all the surface of the soil. The Lord God fashioned man of dust from the soil. Then he breathed into his nostrils a breath of life, and thus man became a living being.

  The Lord God planted a garden in Eden which is in the east, and there he put the man he had fashioned. The Lord God caused to spring up from the soil every kind of tree, enticing to look at and good to eat, with the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the middle of the garden. The Lord God took the man and settled him in the garden of Eden to cultivate and take care of it. Then the Lord God gave the man this admonition, ‘You may eat indeed of all the trees in the garden. Nevertheless of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you are not to eat, for on the day you eat of it you shall most surely die.’

நீங்கள் கடவுளின் கட்டளைகளைக் கைவிட்டு மனித மரபைப் பின்பற்றுகிறீர்கள்.

✠ மாற்கு எழுதிய தூய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 7: 1-13

ஒரு நாள் பரிசேயரும் எருசலேமிலிருந்து வந்திருந்த மறைநூல் அறிஞர் சிலரும் இயேசுவிடம் வந்து கூடினர். அவருடைய சீடருள் சிலர் தீட்டான, அதாவது, கழுவாத கைகளால் உண்பதை அவர்கள் கண்டார்கள். பரிசேயரும், ஏன் யூதர் அனைவருமே, தம் மூதாதையர் மரபைப் பின்பற்றிக் கைகளை முறைப்படி கழுவாமல் உண்பதில்லை; சந்தையிலிருந்து வாங்கியவற்றைக் கழுவிய பின்னரே உண்பர். அவ்வாறே கிண்ணங்கள், பரணிகள், செம்புகள் ஆகியவற்றைக் கழுவுதல் போன்று அவர்கள் கடைப்பிடிக்க வேண்டிய மரபுகள் இன்னும் பல இருந்தன.

ஆகவே பரிசேயரும் மறைநூல் அறிஞரும் அவரை நோக்கி, “உம் சீடர் மூதாதையர் மரபுப்படி நடவாமல் தீட்டான கைகளால் உணவு அருந்துவதேன்?” என்று கேட்டனர்.

அதற்கு அவர், “வெளிவேடக்காரர்களாகிய உங்களைப் பற்றி எசாயா பொருத்தமாக இறைவாக்கு உரைத்திருக்கிறார். ‘இம்மக்கள் உதட்டினால் என்னைப் போற்றுகின்றனர்; இவர்கள் உள்ளமோ என்னைவிட்டு வெகு தொலையில் இருக்கிறது. மனிதக் கட்டளைகளைக் கோட்பாடுகளாகக் கற்பிக்கின்றனர். இவர்கள் என்னை வழிபடுவது வீண்’ என்று அவர் எழுதியுள்ளார். நீங்கள் கடவுளின் கட்டளைகளைக் கைவிட்டு மனித மரபைப் பின்பற்றி வருகிறவர்கள்” என்று அவர்களிடம் கூறினார்.

மேலும் அவர், “உங்கள் மரபை நிலைநாட்டக் கடவுளின் கட்டளைகளை வெகு திறமையாகப் புறக்கணித்துவிட்டீர்கள். ‘உன் தந்தையையும் தாயையும் மதித்து நட’ என்றும் ‘தந்தையையோ தாயையோ சபிப்போர் கொல்லப்பட வேண்டும்’ என்றும் மோசே உரைத்திருக்கிறார் அல்லவா! ஆனால் ஒருவர் தம் தாயையோ தந்தையையோ பார்த்து, ‘நான் உமக்குத் தரக் கடமைப்பட்டிருக்கிறது ‘கொர்பான்’ ஆயிற்று; அதாவது ‘கடவுளுக்குக் காணிக்கையாயிற்று’ என்றால், அதன்பின் அவர் தம் தாய் தந்தைக்கு எந்த உதவியும் செய்ய நீங்கள் அனுமதிப்பதில்லை. இவ்வாறு நீங்கள் பெற்றுக் கொண்ட மரபின் பொருட்டுக் கடவுளின் வார்த்தையைப் பயனற்றதாக்கி விடுகிறீர்கள். இதுபோல நீங்கள் பலவற்றைச் செய்கிறீர்கள்” என்று அவர்களிடம் கூறினார்.

தொடக்கத்தில் கடவுள், “திரளான உயிரினங்களைத் தண்ணீர் தோற்றுவிப்பதாக! விண்ணுலக வானத்தில் நிலத்திற்கு மேலே பறவைகள் பறப்பனவாக!” என்றார். இவ்வாறு, கடலின் பெரும் பாம்புகளையும், திரள்திரளாக நீரில் நீந்திவாழும் உயிரினங்களையும், இறக்கையுள்ள எல்லா விதப் பறவைகளையும் அவ்வவற்றின் இனத்தின்படி கடவுள் படைத்தார். கடவுள் அது நல்லது என்று கண்டார். கடவுள் அவற்றிற்கு ஆசி வழங்கி, “பலுகிப் பெருகிக் கடல் நீரை நிரப்புங்கள். பறவைகளும் மண்ணுலகில் பெருகட்டும்” என்றுரைத்தார். மாலையும் காலையும் நிறைவுற்று, ஐந்தாம் நாள் முடிந்தது.

அப்பொழுது கடவுள், “கால்நடைகள், ஊர்வன, காட்டுவிலங்குகள் ஆகியவற்றை அவ்வவற்றின் இனத்தின்படி நிலம் தோற்றுவிப்பதாக” என்றார். கடவுள் காட்டு விலங்குகளையும் கால்நடைகளையும் நிலத்தில் ஊர்வன யாவற்றையும் அவ்வவற்றின் இனத்தின்படி உருவாக்கினார். கடவுள் அது நல்லது என்று கண்டார்.

அப்பொழுது கடவுள், “மானிடரை நம் உருவிலும், நம் சாயலிலும் உண்டாக்குவோம். அவர்கள் கடல் மீன்களையும், வானத்துப் பறவைகளையும், கால்நடைகளையும், மண்ணுலகு முழுவதையும், நிலத்தில் ஊர்வன யாவற்றையும் ஆளட்டும்” என்றார். கடவுள் தம் உருவில் மானிடரைப் படைத்தார்; கடவுளின் உருவிலேயே அவர்களைப் படைத்தார்; ஆணும் பெண்ணுமாக அவர்களைப் படைத்தார்.

கடவுள் அவர்களுக்கு ஆசி வழங்கி, “பலுகிப் பெருகி மண்ணுலகை நிரப்புங்கள்; அதை உங்கள் ஆற்றலுக்கு உட்படுத்துங்கள்; கடல் மீன்கள், வானத்துப் பறவைகள், நிலத்தில் ஊர்ந்து உயிர் வாழ்வன அனைத்தையும் ஆளுங்கள்” என்றார்.

அப்பொழுது கடவுள், “மண்ணுலகெங்கும் உள்ள விதை தரும் செடிகள், பழமரங்கள், அனைத்தையும் உங்களுக்கு நான் கொடுத்துள்ளேன்; இவை உங்களுக்கு உணவாகட்டும். எல்லாக் காட்டு விலங்குகள், வானத்துப் பறவைகள், நிலத்தில் ஊர்வன ஆகிய அனைத்து உயிரினங்களுக்கும் பசுமையான செடிகள் அனைத்தையும் நான் உணவாகத் தந்துள்ளேன்” என்றார். அது அவ்வாறே ஆயிற்று. கடவுள் தாம் உருவாக்கிய அனைத்தையும் நோக்கினார். அவை மிகவும் நன்றாய் இருந்தன. மாலையும் காலையும் நிறைவுற்று ஆறாம் நாள் முடிந்தது.

விண்ணுலகும் மண்ணுலகும் அவற்றில் உள்ள அமைப்புகள் அனைத்தும் உருவாக்கப் பெற்று நிறைவெய்தின. மேலும் கடவுள் தாம் செய்த வேலையை ஏழாம் நாளில் முடித்திருந்தார். அவர் தாம் செய்த வேலைகள் அனைத்தையும் நிறைவு பெறச் செய்து, ஏழாம் நாளில் ஓய்ந்திருந்தார். கடவுள் ஏழாம் நாளுக்கு ஆசி வழங்கி, அதைப் புனிதப்படுத்தினார். ஏனெனில் கடவுள் தாம் செய்த படைப்பு வேலைகள் அனைத்தையும் நிறைவு பெறச் செய்து, அந்நாளில்தான் ஓய்ந்திருந்தார். இவையே விண்ணுலக, மண்ணுலகப் படைப்பின் தோற்ற முறைமையாம்.

You get round the commandment of God to preserve your own tradition

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Mark 7: 1-13 

The Pharisees and some of the scribes who had come from Jerusalem gathered round Jesus, and they noticed that some of his disciples were eating with unclean hands, that is, without washing them. For the Pharisees, and the Jews in general, follow the tradition of the elders and never eat without washing their arms as far as the elbow; and on returning from the market place they never eat without first sprinkling themselves. There are also many other observances which have been handed down to them concerning the washing of cups and pots and bronze dishes. So these Pharisees and scribes asked him, ‘Why do your disciples not respect the tradition of the elders but eat their food with unclean hands?’ He answered, ‘It was of you hypocrites that Isaiah so rightly prophesied in this passage of scripture:

This people honours me only with lip-service,

while their hearts are far from me.

The worship they offer me is worthless,

the doctrines they teach are only human regulations.

You put aside the commandment of God to cling to human traditions.’ And he said to them, ‘How ingeniously you get round the commandment of God in order to preserve your own tradition! For Moses said: Do your duty to your father and your mother, and, Anyone who curses father or mother must be put to death. But you say, “If a man says to his father or mother: Anything I have that I might have used to help you is Corban (that is, dedicated to God), then he is forbidden from that moment to do anything for his father or mother.” In this way you make God’s word null and void for the sake of your tradition which you have handed down. And you do many other things like this.’

A Reading from the Book of Genesis 1:20-2:4 

God said, ‘Let the waters teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth within the vault of heaven.’ And so it was. God created great sea-serpents and every kind of living creature with which the waters teem, and every kind of winged creature. God saw that it was good. God blessed them, saying, ‘Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the waters of the seas; and let the birds multiply upon the earth.’ Evening came and morning came: the fifth day.

  God said, ‘Let the earth produce every kind of living creature: cattle, reptiles, and every kind of wild beast.’ And so it was. God made every kind of wild beast, every kind of cattle, and every kind of land reptile. God saw that it was good.

  God said, ‘Let us make man in our own image, in the likeness of ourselves, and let them be masters of the fish of the sea, the birds of heaven, the cattle, all the wild beasts and all the reptiles that crawl upon the earth.’

God created man in the image of himself,

in the image of God he created him,

male and female he created them.

God blessed them, saying to them, ‘Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth and conquer it. Be masters of the fish of the sea, the birds of heaven and all living animals on the earth.’ God said, ‘See, I give you all the seed-bearing plants that are upon the whole earth, and all the trees with seed-bearing fruit; this shall be your food.   Thus heaven and earth were completed with all their array. On the seventh day God completed the work he had been doing. He rested on the seventh day after all the work he had been doing. God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on that day he had rested after all his work of creating.

  Such were the origins of heaven and earth when they were created.
