Luke 1:69-75 

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel! He has visited his people.

He has raised up for us a mighty saviour

  in the house of David his servant,

as he promised by the lips of holy men,

  those who were his prophets from of old.

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel! He has visited his people.

A saviour who would free us from our foes,

  from the hands of all who hate us.

So his love for our fathers is fulfilled

  and his holy covenant remembered.

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel! He has visited his people.

He swore to Abraham our father

  to grant us that free from fear,

  and saved from the hands of our foes,

we might serve him in holiness and justice

  all the days of our life in his presence.

We must believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead

A reading from the letter of St.Paul to the Romans 4: 20-25 

Since God had made him a promise, Abraham refused either to deny it or even to doubt it, but drew strength from faith and gave glory to God, convinced that God had power to do what he had promised. This is the faith that was ‘considered as justifying him.’ Scripture however does not refer only to him but to us as well when it says that his faith was thus ‘considered’; our faith too will be ‘considered’ if we believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead, Jesus who was put to death for our sins and raised to life to justify us.

சீசருக்கு உரியவற்றைச் சீசருக்கும் கடவுளுக்கு உரியவற்றைக் கடவுளுக்கும் கொடுங்கள்.

✠ மத்தேயு எழுதிய தூய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 22: 15-21

அக்காலத்தில்

பரிசேயர்கள் போய் எப்படி இயேசுவைப் பேச்சில் சிக்க வைக்கலாம் எனச் சூழ்ச்சி செய்தார்கள். தங்கள் சீடரை ஏரோதியருடன் அவரிடம் அனுப்பி, “போதகரே, நீர் உண்மையுள்ளவர்; எவரையும் பொருட் படுத்தாமல் கடவுளின் நெறியை உண்மைக்கேற்பக் கற்பிப்பவர்; ஆள் பார்த்துச் செயல்படாதவர் என்பது எங்களுக்குத் தெரியும். சீசருக்கு வரி செலுத்துவது முறையா? இல்லையா? நீர் என்ன நினைக்கிறீர் என எங்களுக்குச் சொல்லும்” என்று அவர்கள் கேட்டார்கள்.

இயேசு அவர்களுடைய தீய நோக்கத்தை அறிந்துகொண்டு, “வெளி வேடக்காரரே, ஏன் என்னைச் சோதிக்கிறீர்கள்? வரி கொடுப்பதற்கான நாணயம் ஒன்றை எனக்குக் காட்டுங்கள்” என்றார். அவர்கள் ஒரு தெனாரியத்தை அவரிடம் கொண்டு வந்தார்கள்.

இயேசு அவர்களிடம், “இதில் பொறிக்கப்பட்டுள்ள உருவமும் எழுத்தும் யாருடையவை?” என்று கேட்டார். அவர்கள், “சீசருடையவை” என்றார்கள்.

அதற்கு அவர், “ஆகவே சீசருக்கு உரியவற்றைச் சீசருக்கும் கடவுளுக்கு உரியவற்றைக் கடவுளுக்கும் கொடுங்கள்” என்று அவர்களிடம் கூறினார்.

ஆண்டவரின் அருள்வாக்கு.

உங்கள் நம்பிக்கையையும், அன்பினால் உந்தப்பட்ட உங்கள் உழைப்பையும், உங்கள் மனவுறுதியையும் நினைவுகூருகிறோம்.

திருத்தூதர் பவுல் தெசலோனிக்கருக்கு எழுதிய முதல் திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 1: 1-5a

தந்தையாம் கடவுளோடும் ஆண்டவராம் இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவோடும் இணைந்து வாழ்கின்ற தெசலோனிக்க சபைக்கு, பவுலும் சில்வானும் திமொத்தேயுவும் எழுதுவது: உங்களுக்கு அருளும் அமைதியும் உரித்தாகுக!

நாங்கள் இறைவனிடம் வேண்டும்பொழுது இடைவிடாது உங்களை நினைத்து உங்கள் அனைவருக்காகவும் என்றும் கடவுளுக்கு நன்றி கூறுகிறோம். செயலில் வெளிப்பட்ட உங்கள் நம்பிக்கையையும், அன்பினால் உந்தப்பட்ட உங்கள் உழைப்பையும், ஆண்டவர் இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவை எதிர்நோக்கி இருப்பதால் நீங்கள் பெற்றுள்ள உங்கள் மனவுறுதியையும் நம் தந்தையாம் கடவுள்முன் நினைவுகூருகிறோம். கடவுளின் அன்புக்குரிய சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே! நீங்கள் தேர்ந்து கொள்ளப்பட்டவர்கள் என்பது எங்களுக்குத் தெரியும். ஏனெனில் நாங்கள் நற்செய்தியை உங்களுக்கு வெறும் சொல்லளவிலன்றி, தூய ஆவி தரும் வல்லமையோடும் மிகுந்த உள்ள உறுதியோடும் கொண்டு வந்தோம்.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Matthew 22:15-21 

The Pharisees went away to work out between them how to trap Jesus in what he said. And they sent their disciples to him, together with the Herodians, to say, ‘Master, we know that you are an honest man and teach the way of God in an honest way, and that you are not afraid of anyone, because a man’s rank means nothing to you. Tell us your opinion, then. Is it permissible to pay taxes to Caesar or not?’ But Jesus was aware of their malice and replied, ‘You hypocrites! Why do you set this trap for me? Let me see the money you pay the tax with.’ They handed him a denarius, and he said, ‘Whose head is this? Whose name?’ ‘Caesar’s’ they replied. He then said to them, ‘Very well, give back to Caesar what belongs to Caesar – and to God what belongs to God.’

We constantly remember your faith, your love and your hope

A reading from the first letter of St.Paul to Thessalonians 1:1-5 

From Paul, Silvanus and Timothy, to the Church in Thessalonika which is in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ; wishing you grace and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

  We always mention you in our prayers and thank God for you all, and constantly remember before God our Father how you have shown your faith in action, worked for love and persevered through hope, in our Lord Jesus Christ.

  We know, brothers, that God loves you and that you have been chosen, because when we brought the Good News to you, it came to you not only as words, but as power and as the Holy Spirit and as utter conviction.

Thus says the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus,

whom he has taken by his right hand

that their gates be closed no more:

‘It is for the sake of my servant Jacob,

conferring a title though you do not know me.
