கடவுளே எங்கள் உள்ளங்களில் அவரது ஒளியை வீசச் செய்தார்.

திருத்தூதர் பவுல் கொரிந்தியருக்கு எழுதிய இரண்டாம் திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 3: 15- 4: 1, 3-6

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

இன்றுவரை மோசேயின் திருச்சட்டம் வாசிக்கப்படும் போதெல்லாம் அவர்களின் உள்ளத்தை ஒரு திரை மூடி இருக்கிறது. ஆனால் ஆண்டவர்பால் திரும்பினால் அந்தத் திரை அகற்றப்படும். இங்கே ஆண்டவர் என்பது தூய ஆவியாரைக் குறிக்கிறது. ஆண்டவரின் ஆவியார் இருக்குமிடத்தில் விடுதலை உண்டு. இப்போது நாம் அனைவரும் முக்காடு இல்லா முகத்தினராய் ஆண்டவரின் மாட்சியைப் பிரதிபலிக்கிறோம். இவ்வாறு மேன்மேலும் மாட்சி பெற்று, அவர் சாயலாக மாற்றமடைகிறோம். இவையெல்லாம் ஆவியாம் ஆண்டவரின் செயலே.

கடவுளின் இரக்கத்தால் நாங்கள் இத்திருப்பணியைப் பெற்றிருக்கிறோம். ஆகையால் மனந்தளராமல் இருக்கிறோம். நாங்கள் அறிவிக்கும் நற்செய்தி அழிவுறுவோருக்கே அன்றி வேறு எவருக்கும் மறைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கவில்லை. இவ்வுலகின் தெய்வம் நம்பிக்கை கொண்டிராதோரின் அறிவுக் கண்களைக் குருடாக்கிவிட்டது. எனவே அவர்கள் கடவுளின் சாயலாய் விளங்கும் கிறிஸ்துவின் மாட்சி பொருந்திய நற்செய்தி ஒளியைக் காண முடிவதில்லை.

நாங்கள் எங்களைப் பற்றி அல்ல, இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவைப் பற்றியே அறிவிக்கிறோம்; அவரே ஆண்டவர் எனப் பறைசாற்றி வருகிறோம். நாங்கள் இயேசுவின் பொருட்டு வந்த உங்கள் பணியாளர்களே. “இருளிலிருந்து ஒளி தோன்றுக!” என்று சொன்ன கடவுளே எங்கள் உள்ளங்களில் அவரது ஒளியை வீசச் செய்தார். அது கிறிஸ்துவின் திருமுகத்தில் வீசும் கடவுளின் மாட்சியாகிய அறிவொளியே.

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘If your virtue goes no deeper than that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never get into the kingdom of heaven.

  ‘You have learnt how it was said to our ancestors: You must not kill; and if anyone does kill he must answer for it before the court. But I say this to you: anyone who is angry with his brother will answer for it before the court; if a man calls his brother “Fool” he will answer for it before the Sanhedrin; and if a man calls him “Renegade” he will answer for it in hell fire. So then, if you are bringing your offering to the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering there before the altar, go and be reconciled with your brother first, and then come back and present your offering. Come to terms with your opponent in good time while you are still on the way to the court with him, or he may hand you over to the judge and the judge to the officer, and you will be thrown into prison. I tell you solemnly, you will not get out till you have paid the last penny.’

The veil over their eyes will not be removed until they turn to the Lord

A Reading from the Second letter of St.Paul to the Corinthians 3: 15-4:1,3-6 

Even today, whenever Moses is read, the veil is over their minds. It will not be removed until they turn to the Lord. Now this Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, with our unveiled faces reflecting like mirrors the brightness of the Lord, all grow brighter and brighter as we are turned into the image that we reflect; this is the work of the Lord who is Spirit.

  Since we have by an act of mercy been entrusted with this work of administration, there is no weakening on our part. If our gospel does not penetrate the veil, then the veil is on those who are not on the way to salvation; the unbelievers whose minds the god of this world has blinded, to stop them seeing the light shed by the Good News of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For it is not ourselves that we are preaching, but Christ Jesus as the Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. It is the same God that said, ‘Let there be light shining out of darkness’, who has shone in our minds to radiate the light of the knowledge of God’s glory, the glory on the face of Christ.

புதிய உடன்படிக்கையின் பணியாளராகும் தகுதியைக் கடவுள் எங்களுக்குத் தந்தார்.

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

கிறிஸ்துவின் வழியாய் நாங்கள் கடவுள்மேல் வைத்துள்ள உறுதியான நம்பிக்கையால்தான் இவ்வாறு சொல்லுகிறோம். நாங்களே செய்ததாக எதன்மேலும் உரிமை பாராட்டிக்கொள்ள எங்களுக்குத் தகுதி இல்லை. எங்கள் தகுதி கடவுளிடம் இருந்தே வருகிறது. அவரே புதிய உடன்படிக்கையின் பணியாளராகும் தகுதியை எங்களுக்குத் தந்தார். அவ்வுடன்படிக்கை, எழுதப்பட்ட சட்டத்தைச் சார்ந்ததல்ல; தூய ஆவியையே சார்ந்தது. ஏனெனில் எழுதப்பட்ட சட்டத்தால் விளைவது சாவு; தூய ஆவியால் விளைவது வாழ்வு.

கற்களில் பொறிக்கப்பட்ட அச்சட்டம் சார்ந்த திருப்பணி சாவை விளைவிப்பதாய் இருந்தும் அது மாட்சியுடன் அருளப்பட்டது. விரைவில் மறையவேண்டியதாய் இருந்த அம்மாட்சி மோசேயின் முகத்தில் இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் பார்க்க முடியாத அளவுக்கு ஒளி வீசியது. அதுவே அப்படியிருந்தது என்றால் தூய ஆவி சார்ந்த திருப்பணி எத்துணை மாட்சி பொருந்தியதாய் இருக்கும்! தண்டனைத் தீர்ப்பு அளிக்கும் திருப்பணியே இத்துணை மாட்சி பொருந்தியதாய் இருந்தது என்றால் விடுதலைத் தீர்ப்பு அளிக்கும் திருப்பணி எத்துணை மாட்சி நிறைந்ததாய் இருக்கும்! அன்றைய மாட்சியை ஒப்புயர்வற்ற இன்றைய மாட்சியோடு ஒப்பிட்டால் அது மாட்சியே அல்ல. மறையப் போவது மாட்சி உடையதாய் இருந்தால் நிலையாக இருப்பது எத்துணை மாட்சி மிகுந்ததாய் இருக்கும்!

I tell you solemnly, till heaven and earth disappear, not one dot, not one little stroke, shall disappear from the Law until its purpose is achieved. Therefore, the man who infringes even one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be considered the least in the kingdom of heaven; but the man who keeps them and teaches them will be considered great in the kingdom of heaven.’

The new covenant is a covenant of the Spirit

A Reading from the Second letter of St.Paul to the Corinthians 3:4-11 

Before God, we are confident of this through Christ: not that we are qualified in ourselves to claim anything as our own work: all our qualifications come from God. He is the one who has given us the qualifications to be the administrators of this new covenant, which is not a covenant of written letters but of the Spirit: the written letters bring death, but the Spirit gives life. Now if the administering of death, in the written letters engraved on stones, was accompanied by such a brightness that the Israelites could not bear looking at the face of Moses, though it was a brightness that faded, then how much greater will be the brightness that surrounds the administering of the Spirit! For if there was any splendour in administering condemnation, there must be very much greater splendour in administering justification. In fact, compared with this greater splendour, the thing that used to have such splendour now seems to have none; and if what was so temporary had any splendour, there must be much more in what is going to last for ever.
