குருக்களே, சாக்கு உடை உடுத்திக் கொண்டு தேம்பி அழுங்கள்; பலிபீடத்தில் பணிபுரிவோரே! அலறிப் புலம்புங்கள்; என் கடவுளின் ஊழியர்களே, சாக்கு உடை அணிந்தவர்களாய் இரவைக் கழியுங்கள்; ஏனெனில், உங்கள் கடவுளின் வீட்டில் தானியப் படையலும் நீர்மப் படையலும் இல்லாமற் போயின.

உண்ணா நோன்புக்கென நாள் குறியுங்கள்; வழிபாட்டுப் பேரணியைத் திரட்டுங்கள்; ஊர்ப் பெரியோரையும் நாட்டில் குடியிருப்போர் அனைவரையும் உங்கள் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவரின் இல்லத்தில் கூடிவரச் செய்யுங்கள்; ஆண்டவரை நோக்கிக் கதறுங்கள். மிகக் கொடிய நாள் அந்த நாள்! ஆண்டவரின் நாள் அண்மையில் உள்ளது; எல்லாம் வல்லவர் அழிவை அனுப்பும் நாளாக அது வரும்.

சீயோனிலே எக்காளம் ஊதி எச்சரியுங்கள்; என்னுடைய திருமலைமேலிருந்து கூக்குரலிடுங்கள்; நாட்டில் குடியிருப்பவர்கள் அனைவரும் நடுங்குவார்களாக! ஏனெனில், ஆண்டவரின் நாள் வருகின்றது, ஆம்; அது வந்து விட்டது. அதுவோ இருளும் காரிருளும் கவிந்த நாள்; மப்பும் மந்தாரமும் சூழ்ந்த நாள்; விடியற்கால ஒளி மலைகள்மேல் பரவுவதுபோல், ஆற்றல்மிகு வெட்டுக்கிளிகளின் பெருங்கூட்டம் வருகின்றது; இதுபோன்று என்றுமே நிகழ்ந்ததில்லை; இனிமேல் தலைமுறை தலைமுறைக்கும் நிகழப்போவதும் இல்லை.

At that time: [When Jesus had cast out a demon,] some of the people said, “He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of demons”, while others, to test him, kept seeking from him a sign from heaven. But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and a divided household falls. And if Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul. And if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges. But if it is by the finger of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are safe; but when one stronger than he attacks him and overcomes him, he takes away his armour in which he trusted and divides his spoil. Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. “When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and finding none it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds the house swept and put in order. Then it goes and brings seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there. And the last state of that person is worse than the first.”

Because grain offering and drink offering are withheld from the house of your God. Consecrate a fast; call a solemn assembly. Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord. Alas for the day! For the day of the Lord is near, and as destruction from the Almighty it comes. Blow a trumpet in Sion; sound an alarm on my holy mountain! இயேசு சீடர்களை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: “உங்களுள் ஒருவர் தம் நண்பரிடம் நள்ளிரவில் சென்று, ‘நண்பா, மூன்று அப்பங்களை எனக்குக் கடனாகக் கொடு. என்னுடைய நண்பர் ஒருவர் பயணம் செய்யும் வழியில் என்னிடம் வந்திருக்கிறார். அவருக்குக் கொடுக்க என்னிடம் ஒன்றுமில்லை’ என்று சொல்வதாக வைத்துக் கொள்வோம். உள்ளே இருப்பவர், ‘எனக்குத் தொல்லை கொடுக்காதே; ஏற்கெனவே கதவு பூட்டியாயிற்று; என் பிள்ளைகளும் என்னோடு படுத்திருக்கிறார்கள். நான் எழுந்திருந்து உனக்குத் தர முடியாது’ என்பார்.

எனினும் அவர் விடாப்பிடியாய்க் கதவைத் தட்டிக்கொண்டே இருந்தால் அவர் தம் நண்பர் என்பதற்காக எழுந்து கொடுக்காவிட்டாலும், அவரது தொல்லையின் பொருட்டாவது எழுந்து அவருக்குத் தேவையானதைக் கொடுப்பார் என நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்.

மேலும் நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்: கேளுங்கள், உங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படும்; தேடுங்கள், நீங்கள் கண்டடைவீர்கள்; தட்டுங்கள் உங்களுக்குத் திறக்கப்படும். ஏனெனில் கேட்போர் எல்லாரும் பெற்றுக் கொள்கின்றனர்; தேடுவோர் கண்டடைகின்றனர்; தட்டுவோருக்குத் திறக்கப்படும்.

பிள்ளை மீனைக் கேட்டால் உங்களுள் எந்தத் தந்தையாவது மீனுக்குப் பதிலாகப் பாம்பைக் கொடுப்பாரா? முட்டையைக் கேட்டால் அவர் தேளைக் கொடுப்பாரா? தீயோர்களாகிய நீங்களே உங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்கு நற்கொடைகள் அளிக்க அறிந்திருக்கிறீர்கள். அப்படியானால் விண்ணகத் தந்தை தம்மிடம் கேட்போருக்குத் தூய ஆவியைக் கொடுப்பது எத்துணை உறுதி!”

“எனக்கு எதிராக நீங்கள் கடுஞ்சொற்களை உதிர்த்து வந்தீர்கள்,” என்கிறார் ஆண்டவர். ஆயினும், “உமக்கு எதிராக என்ன பேசினோம்?” என்று கேட்கிறீர்கள். கடவுளுக்கு ஊழியம் செய்வது வீண்; அவரது திருமுறைகளைக் கடைபிடித்து ஒழுகுவதாலும் படைகளின் ஆண்டவர் திருமுன் மனம் வருந்தி நடந்து கொள்வதாலும் நமக்கு என்ன பயன்? இனிமேல் நாங்கள், ‘ஆணவக்காரரே பேறுபெற்றோர்’ என்போம். கொடியோர் தழைத்தோங்குவது மட்டுமல்ல, கடவுளை அவர்கள் சோதித்துப் பார்த்தாலும், தப்பித்துக் கொள்ளுகிறார்கள் என்றெல்லாம் நீங்கள் கூறவில்லையா?"

அப்போது, ஆண்டவருக்கு அஞ்சி நடந்தோர் ஒருவரோடு ஒருவர் உரையாடிக் கொண்டனர். ஆண்டவரும் உன்னிப்பாகக் கேட்டார். ஆண்டவருக்கு அஞ்சி நடந்து அவரது பெயரை நினைந்து வாழ்வோருக்கென நினைவு நூல் ஒன்று அவர் திருமுன் எழுதப்பட்டது. “நான் செயலாற்றும் அந்நாளில் அவர்கள் எனது தனிப்பெரும் சொத்தாக இருப்பார்கள்” என்கிறார் படைகளின் ஆண்டவர். ஒரு தந்தை தமக்குப் பணிவிடை செய்யும் மகன்மீது கருணை காட்டுவது போல் நான் அவர்கள் மீது கருணை காட்டுவேன். அப்போது நீங்கள் நேர்மையாளர்க்கும் கொடியோர்க்கும், கடவுளுக்கு ஊழியம் செய்வோர்க்கும் அவருக்கு ஊழியம் செய்யாதோர்க்கும் உள்ள வேற்றுமையை மீண்டும் கண்டுகொள்வீர்கள்.

“இதோ! சூளையைப் போல் எரியும் அந்த நாள் வருகின்றது. அப்போது ஆணவக்காரர், கொடுமை செய்வோர் அனைவரும்அதனுள் போடப்பட்ட சருகாவர்; வரப்போகும் அந்த நாள் அவர்களுடைய வேரையோ, கிளையையோ விட்டுவைக்காது; முற்றிலும் சுட்டெரித்துவிடும்,” என்கிறார் படைகளின் ஆண்டவர். “ஆனால் என் பெயருக்கு அஞ்சி நடக்கின்ற உங்கள்மேல் நீதியின் கதிரவன் எழுவான். அவனுடைய இறக்கைகளில் நலம் தரும் மருந்து இருக்கும்.”

At that time: Jesus said to his disciples, “Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves, for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; and he will answer from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything’? I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his impudence he will rise and give him whatever he needs. “Your words have been hard against me, says the Lord. But you say, ‘How have we spoken against you?’ You have said, ‘It is vain to serve God. What is the profit of our keeping his charge or of walking as in mourning before the Lord of hosts? And now we call the arrogant blessed. Evildoers not only prosper but they put God to the test and they escape.’” Then those who feared the Lord spoke with one another. The Lord paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the Lord and esteemed his name. “They shall be mine, says the Lord of hosts, in the day when I make up my treasured possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him. Then once more you shall see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him. “For behold, the day is coming burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble. The day that is coming shall set them ablaze, says the Lord of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings.”
