As Jesus went on his way two blind men followed him shouting, ‘Take pity on us, Son of David.’ And when Jesus reached the house the blind men came up with him and he said to them, ‘Do you believe I can do this?’ They said, ‘Sir, we do.’ Then he touched their eyes saying, ‘Your faith deserves it, so let this be done for you.’ And their sight returned. Then Jesus sternly warned them, ‘Take care that no one learns about this.’ But when they had gone, they talked about him all over the countryside.

*A Reading from the Book of Isaiah 29:17-24.*

The Lord says this:

In a short time, a very short time,

shall not Lebanon become fertile land

and fertile land turn into forest?

The deaf, that day,

will hear the words of a book

and, after shadow and darkness,

the eyes of the blind will see.

But the lowly will rejoice in the Lord even more

and the poorest exult in the Holy One of Israel;

for tyrants shall be no more, and scoffers vanish,

and all be destroyed who are disposed to do evil:

those who gossip to incriminate others,

those who try at the gate to trip the arbitrator

and get the upright man’s case dismissed for groundless reasons.

Therefore the Lord speaks,

the God of the House of Jacob,

Abraham’s redeemer:

No longer shall Jacob be ashamed,

no more shall his face grow pale,

for he shall see what my hands have done in his midst,

he shall hold my name holy.

They will hallow the Holy One of Jacob,

stand in awe of the God of Israel.

Erring spirits will learn wisdom

and murmurers accept instruction.

அக்காலத்தில் இயேசு தம் சொந்த ஊரை விட்டு வெளியே சென்றபோது பார்வையற்றோர் இருவர், தாவீதின் மகனே, எங்களுக்கு இரங்கும்'' என்று கத்திக்கொண்டே அவரைப் பின்தொடர்ந்தனர். அவர் வீடு வந்து சேர்ந்ததும் அந்தப் பார்வையற்றோரும் அவரிடம் வந்தனர். இயேசு அவர்களைப் பார்த்து, நான் இதைச் செய்ய முடியும் என நம்புகிறீர்களா?'' என்று கேட்டார். அதற்கு அவர்கள், ஆம், ஐயா'' என்றார்கள். பின்பு அவர் அவர்களின் கண்களைத் தொட்டு, நீங்கள் நம்பியபடியே உங்களுக்கு நிகழட்டும்'' என்றார். உடனே அவர்களின் கண்கள் திறந்தன. இயேசு அவர்களை நோக்கி, யாரும் இதை அறியாதபடி பார்த்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள்'' என்று மிகக் கண்டிப்பாகக் கூறினார். ஆனால் அவர்கள் வெளியே போய் நாடெங்கும் அவரைப் பற்றிய செய்தியைப் பரப்பினார்கள்.

1 ஆண்டவரே என் ஒளி; அவரே என் மீட்பு;

யாருக்கு நான் அஞ்சவேண்டும்?

ஆண்டவரே என் உயிருக்கு அடைக்கலம்;

யாருக்கு நான் அஞ்சி நடுங்க வேண்டும்? -பல்லவி 

4 நான் ஆண்டவரிடம் ஒரு விண்ணப்பம் செய்தேன்;

*இறைவாக்கினர் எசாயா நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 29: 17-24*

இறைவனாகிய ஆண்டவர் கூறுவது: இன்னும் சிறிது காலத்தில் லெபனோன் வளம்மிகு தோட்டமாக மாறுமன்றோ? வளம்மிகு நிலம் காடாக ஆகிவிடுமன்றோ? அந்நாளில் காது கேளாதோர் ஏட்டுச் சுருளின் வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்பர்; பார்வையற்றோரின் கண்கள் காரிருளில் இருந்தும் மையிருளில் இருந்தும் விடுதலையாகிப் பார்வை பெறும். ஒடுக்கப்பட்டோர் மீண்டும் ஆண்டவரில் மகிழ்ச்சி பெறுவர்; மானிடரில் வறியவர் இஸ்ரயேலின் தூயவரில் அகமகிழ்வர். கொடியோர் இல்லாதொழிவர்; இகழ்வோர் இல்லாமற் போவர்; தீமையில் நாட்டம் கொள்வோர் அழிந்து போவர். அவர்கள் ஒருவர்மேல் பொய்க் குற்றம் சாட்டி, நீதிமன்றத்தில் தீர்ப்பு வழங்குவோரை இடறச் செய்கின்றனர்; பொய் புனைந்து நேர்மையாளரின் வழக்கைப் புரட்டுகின்றனர். ஆதலால் ஆபிரகாமை மீட்ட ஆண்டவர் யாக்கோபு வீட்டாரைப்பற்றிக் கூறுவது: இனி யாக்கோபு மானக்கேடு அடைவதில்லை; அவன் முகம் இனி வெளிறிப் போவதுமில்லை. அவன் பிள்ளைகள் என் பெயரைத் தூயதெனப் போற்றுவர்; நான் செய்யவிருக்கும் என் கைவேலைப் பாடுகளைக் காணும்போது யாக்கோபின் தூயவரைத் தூயவராகப் போற்றுவர்; இஸ்ரயேலின் கடவுள்முன் அஞ்சி நிற்பர். தவறிழைக்கும் சிந்தைகொண்டோர் உணர்வடைவர்; முறுமுறுப்போர் அறிவுரையை ஏற்றுக்கொள்வர். 

இது ஆண்டவர் வழங்கும் அருள்வாக்கு.

*🕯️1 Corinthians 9: 16-19, 22-23*

For if I preach the Gospel, it is not glory for me. For an obligation has been laid upon me. And woe to me, if I do not preach the Gospel. For if I do this willingly, I have a reward. But if I do this reluctantly, a dispensation is granted to me. And what, then, would be my reward? So, when preaching the Gospel, I should give the Gospel without taking, so that I may not misuse my authority in the Gospel. For when I was a free man to all, I made myself the servant of all, so that I might gain all the more.

To the weak, I became weak, so that I might gain the weak. To all, I became all, so that I might save all. And I do everything for the sake of the Gospel, so that I may become its partner.

He has sent me to bring good news to the meek, so as to heal the contrite of heart, to preach leniency to captives and release to the confined, 2and so to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord and the day of vindication of our God: to console all who are mourning, 3to take up the mourners of Zion and to give them a crown in place of ashes, an oil of joy in place of mourning, a cloak of praise in place of a spirit of grief. And there, they shall be called the strong ones of justice, the planting of the Lord, unto glorification.
