Jesus was teaching people with authority. 

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark 1:21-28 

They went as far as Capernaum, and at once on the Sabbath he went into the synagogue and began to teach.

And his teaching made a deep impression on them because, unlike the scribes, he taught them with authority.

And at once in their synagogue there was a man with an unclean spirit, and he shouted,

'What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are: the Holy One of God.'

But Jesus rebuked it saying, 'Be quiet! Come out of him!'

And the unclean spirit threw the man into convulsions and with a loud cry went out of him.

The people were so astonished that they started asking one another what it all meant, saying, 'Here is a teaching that is new, and with authority behind it: he gives orders even to unclean spirits and they obey him.'

And his reputation at once spread everywhere, through all the surrounding Galilean countryside.

The one who begins and leads the redemption deserves to be made complete by suffering. 

A Reading from the Book of Hebrews 2:5-12 

It was not under angels that he put the world to come, about which we are speaking.

Someone witnesses to this somewhere with the words: What are human beings that you spare a thought for them, a child of Adam that you care for him?

For a short while you have made him less than the angels; you have crowned him with glory and honour,

put all things under his feet. For in putting all things under him he made no exceptions. At present, it is true, we are not able to see that all things are under him,

but we do see Jesus, who was for a short while made less than the angels, now crowned with glory and honour because he submitted to death; so that by God's grace his experience of death should benefit all humanity.

It was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should, in bringing many sons to glory, make perfect through suffering the leader of their salvation.

இயேசு அதிகாரத்தோடு மக்களுக்குப் போதித்து வந்தார்.

இயேசுவும் சீடர்களும் கப்பர்நாகும் ஊரில் நுழைந்தார்கள். ஓய்வு நாள்களில் இயேசு தொழுகைக்கூடத்திற்குச் சென்று கற்பித்து வந்தார். அவருடைய போதனையைக் குறித்து மக்கள் வியப்பில் ஆழ்ந்தார்கள். ஏனெனில் அவர் மறைநூல் அறிஞரைப் போலன்றி, அதிகாரத்தோடு அவர்களுக்குக் கற்பித்து வந்தார். அப்போது அவர்களுடைய தொழுகைக்கூடத்தில் தீய ஆவி பிடித்திருந்த ஒருவர் இருந்தார். அவரைப் பிடித்திருந்த ஆவி, ``நாசரேத்து இயேசுவே, உமக்கு இங்கு என்ன வேலை? எங்களை ஒழித்துவிடவா வந்தீர்? நீர் யார் என எனக்குத் தெரியும். நீர் கடவுளுக்கு அர்ப்பணமானவர்'' என்று கத்தியது. ``வாயை மூடு; இவரை விட்டு வெளியே போ'' என்று இயேசு அதனை அதட்டினார். அப்பொழுது அத்தீய ஆவி அம்மனிதருக்கு வலிப்பு உண்டாக்கிப் பெருங்கூச்சலிட்டு அவரை விட்டு வெளியேறிற்று. அவர்கள் அனைவரும் திகைப்புற்று, ``இது என்ன? இது அதிகாரம் கொண்ட புதிய போதனையாய் இருக்கிறதே! இவர் தீய ஆவிகளுக்கும் கட்டளையிடுகிறார்; அவையும் இவருக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிகின்றனவே!'' என்று தங்களிடையே பேசிக்கொண்டனர். அவரைப் பற்றிய செய்தி உடனே கலிலேயாவின் சுற்றுப்புறமெங்கும் பரவியது. 

இது கிறிஸ்து வழங்கும் நற்செய்தி

மனிதப் பிறவிகளை நீர் ஒரு பொருட்டாக எண்ணுவதற்கு அவர்கள் எம்மாத்திரம்? பல்லவி 

5 அவர்களைக் கடவுளாகிய உமக்குச் சற்றே சிறியவர் ஆக்கியுள்ளீர்;

மாட்சியையும் மேன்மையையும் அவர்களுக்கு முடியாகச் சூட்டியுள்ளீர்.

மீட்பைத் தொடங்கி வழிநடத்துபவரைத் துன்பங்கள் மூலம் நிறைவுள்ளவராக்கியது தகுதியே. 

எபிரேயருக்கு எழுதப்பட்ட திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 2: 5-12 

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே, வரவிருக்கும் உலகு பற்றிப் பேசுகிறோம். கடவுள் அதனை வானதூதரின் அதிகாரத்திற்குப் பணியச் செய்யவில்லை. இதற்குச் சான்றாக மறைநூலில் ஓரிடத்தில் சொல்லப்பட்டுள்ளது இதுவே: ``மனிதரை நீர் நினைவில் கொள்வதற்கு அவர்கள் யார்? மனிதப் பிறவிகளை நீர் ஒரு பொருட்டாக எண்ணுவதற்கு அவர்கள் எம்மாத்திரம்? ஆயினும் நீர் அவர்களை வானதூதரைவிடச் சற்றே சிறியவர் ஆக்கியுள்ளீர்; மாட்சியையும் மேன்மையையும் அவர்களுக்கு முடியாகச் சூட்டியுள்ளீர். உமது கை படைத்தவற்றுக்கு மேலாக அவர்களை நியமித்தீர். எல்லாவற்றையும் அவர்கள் பாதங்களுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படுத்தியுள்ளீர்.'' அனைத்தையும் மனிதருக்கு அடிபணியச் செய்தார் என்பதால், எதையும் பணியாதிருக்க விட்டுவிடவில்லை எனலாம். எனினும், அனைத்தும் மனிதருக்கு இன்னும் அடிபணியக் காணோம். நாம் காண்பதோ சிறிது காலம் வானதூதரை விடச் சற்றுத் தாழ்ந்தவராக்கப்பட்ட இயேசுவையே. இவர் துன்புற்று இறந்ததால், மாட்சியும் மாண்பும் இவருக்கு முடியாகச் சூட்டப்பட்டதைக் காண்கிறோம். இவ்வாறு கடவுளின் அருளால் அனைவருடைய நலனுக்காகவும் இவர் சாவுக்கு உட்படவேண்டியிருந்தது. கடவுள் எல்லாவற்றையும் தமக்கென்று தாமே உண்டாக்கினார். அவர், மக்கள் பலரை மாட்சியில் பங்குகொள்ள அழைத்துச் செல்ல விரும்பிய போது, அவர்களது மீட்பைத் தொடங்கி வழிநடத்துபவரைத் துன்பங்கள் மூலம் நிறைவுள்ளவராக்கினார். இது ஏற்ற செயலே. தூய்மையாக்குகிறவர், தூய்மையாக்கப்படுவோர் அனைவருக்கும் உயிர்முதல் ஒன்றே. இதனால் இயேசு இவர்களைச் சகோதரர் சகோதரிகள் என்று அழைக்க வெட்கப்படவில்லை. ``உமது பெயரை என் சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளுக்கு அறிவிப்பேன்; சபை நடுவே உம்மைப் புகழ்ந்து பாடுவேன்'' என்று கூறியுள்ளார் அன்றோ! 

இது ஆண்டவர் வழங்கும் அருள்வாக்கு.

After John had been arrested, Jesus went into Galilee. There he proclaimed the gospel from God saying,

'The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe the gospel.'

As he was walking along by the Lake of Galilee he saw Simon and Simon's brother Andrew casting a net in the lake -- for they were fishermen.

And Jesus said to them, 'Come after me and I will make you into fishers of people.'

And at once they left their nets and followed him.

Going on a little further, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John; they too were in their boat, mending the nets.

At once he called them and, leaving their father Zebedee in the boat with the men he employed, they went after him.

_God has spoken to us through His Son._

*A Reading from the Book of Hebrews 1:1-6*

At many moments in the past and by many means, God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets; but

in our time, the final days, he has spoken to us in the person of his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things and through whom he made the ages.

He is the reflection of God's glory and bears the impress of God's own being, sustaining all things by his powerful command; and now that he has purged sins away, he has taken his seat at the right hand of the divine Majesty on high.

So he is now as far above the angels as the title which he has inherited is higher than their own name.

To which of the angels, then, has God ever said: You are my Son, today I have fathered you, or: I shall be a father to him and he a son to me?

Again, when he brings the First-born into the world, he says: Let all the angels of God pay him homage.

அக்காலத்தில் யோவான் கைதுசெய்யப்பட்டபின், கடவுளின் நற்செய்தியைப் பறைசாற்றிக்கொண்டே இயேசு கலிலேயாவிற்கு வந்தார். ``காலம் நிறைவேறிவிட்டது. இறையாட்சி நெருங்கி வந்துவிட்டது; மனம் மாறி நற்செய்தியை நம்புங்கள்'' என்று அவர் கூறினார். அவர் கலிலேயக் கடலோரமாய்ச் சென்றபோது, சீமோனையும் அவர் சகோதரரான அந்திரேயாவையும் கண்டார். மீனவர்களான அவர்கள் கடலில் வலை வீசிக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். இயேசு அவர்களைப் பார்த்து, ``என் பின்னே வாருங்கள்; நான் உங்களை மனிதரைப் பிடிப்பவர் ஆக்குவேன்'' என்றார். உடனே அவர்கள் வலைகளை விட்டுவிட்டு அவரைப் பின்பற்றினார்கள். பின்னர், சற்று அப்பால் சென்றபோது, செபதேயுவின் மகன் யாக்கோபையும் அவர் சகோதரரான யோவானையும் இயேசு கண்டார். அவர்கள் படகில் வலைகளைப் பழுது பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். உடனே இயேசு அவர்களையும் அழைத்தார். அவர்களும் தங்கள் தந்தை செபதேயுவைக் கூலியாள்களோடு படகில் விட்டுவிட்டு அவர் பின்சென்றார்கள். 

இது கிறிஸ்து வழங்கும் நற்செய்தி.
