Jesus healed a man suffering from various ailments. 

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark 1:29-39 

And at once on leaving the synagogue, he went with James and John straight to the house of Simon and Andrew.

Now Simon's mother-in-law was in bed and feverish, and at once they told him about her.

He went in to her, took her by the hand and helped her up. And the fever left her and she began to serve them.

That evening, after sunset, they brought to him all who were sick and those who were possessed by devils.

The whole town came crowding round the door,

and he cured many who were sick with diseases of one kind or another; he also drove out many devils, but he would not allow them to speak, because they knew who he was.

In the morning, long before dawn, he got up and left the house and went off to a lonely place and prayed there.

Simon and his companions set out in search of him,

and when they found him they said, 'Everybody is looking for you.'

He answered, 'Let us go elsewhere, to the neighbouring country towns, so that I can proclaim the message there too, because that is why I came.'

And he went all through Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out devils.

Alleluia! Give thanks to Yahweh, call on his name, proclaim his deeds to the peoples!

Sing to him, make music for him, recount all his wonders! (Respons) 

Glory in his holy name, let the hearts that seek Yahweh rejoice!

Seek Yahweh and his strength, tirelessly seek his presence! (Respons) 

Stock of Abraham, his servant, children of Jacob whom he chose!

He is Yahweh our God, his judgements touch the whole world. (Respons) 

He remembers his covenant for ever, the promise he laid down for a thousand generations,

which he concluded with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac. (Respons)

Jesus had to become like everyone else in everything so that people could be cleansed from their sins 

A Reading from the Book of Hebrews 2:14-18 

Since all the children share the same human nature, he too shared equally in it, so that by his death he could set aside him who held the power of death, namely the devil,

and set free all those who had been held in slavery all their lives by the fear of death.

For it was not the angels that he took to himself; he took to himself the line of Abraham.

It was essential that he should in this way be made completely like his brothers so that he could become a compassionate and trustworthy high priest for their relationship to God, able to expiate the sins of the people.

For the suffering he himself passed through while being put to the test enables him to help others when they are being put to the test.

இயேசு பல்வேறு பிணிகளால் வருந்தியவரைக் குணப்படுத்தினார். 

மாற்கு எழுதிய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 1: 29-39 

இயேசுவும் சீடர்களும் தொழுகைக்கூடத்தை விட்டு வெளியே வந்து யாக்கோபு, யோவானுடன் சீமோன், அந்திரேயா ஆகியோரின் வீட்டிற்குள் சென்றார்கள். சீமோனுடைய மாமியார் காய்ச்சலாய்க் கிடந்தார். உடனே அவர்கள் அதைப் பற்றி இயேசுவிடம் சொன்னார்கள். இயேசு அவரருகில் சென்று கையைப் பிடித்து அவரைத் தூக்கினார். காய்ச்சல் அவரை விட்டு நீங்கிற்று. அவர் அவர்களுக்குப் பணிவிடை செய்தார். மாலை வேளையில், கதிரவன் மறையும் நேரத்தில் நோயாளர்கள், பேய்பிடித்தவர்கள் அனைவரையும் மக்கள் அவரிடம் கொண்டு வந்தார்கள். நகர் முழுவதும் வீட்டு வாயில்முன் கூடியிருந்தது. பல்வேறு பிணிகளால் வருந்திய பலரை அவர் குணப்படுத்தினார். பல பேய்களையும் ஓட்டினார்; அந்தப் பேய்கள் அவரை அறிந்திருந்ததால் அவற்றை அவர் பேசவிடவில்லை. இயேசு விடியற்காலைக் கருக்கலில் எழுந்து தனிமையான ஓர் இடத்திற்குப் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றார். அங்கே அவர் இறைவனிடம் வேண்டிக் கொண்டிருந்தார். சீமோனும் அவருடன் இருந்தவர்களும் அவரைத் தேடிச் சென்றார்கள். அவரைக் கண்டதும், ``எல்லாரும் உம்மைத் தேடிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள்'' என்றார்கள். அதற்கு அவர், ``நாம் அடுத்த ஊர்களுக்குப் போவோம், வாருங்கள். அங்கும் நான் நற்செய்தியைப் பறைசாற்ற வேண்டும்; ஏனெனில் இதற்காகவே நான் வந்திருக்கிறேன்'' என்று சொன்னார். பின்பு அவர் கலிலேய நாடு முழுவதும் சென்று அவர்களுடைய தொழுகைக்கூடங்களில் நற்செய்தியைப் பறைசாற்றிப் பேய்களை ஓட்டி வந்தார். 

இது கிறிஸ்து வழங்கும் நற்செய்தி.

ஈசாக்குக்குத் தாம் ஆணையிட்டுக் கூறியதையும் அவர் நினைவில் கொண்டுள்ளார். பல்லவி

இயேசு மக்கள் பாவங்களுக்குக் கழுவாய் ஆகும்படி எல்லாவற்றிலும் எல்லாரைப் போல் ஆகவேண்டியதாயிற்று. 

எபிரேயருக்கு எழுதப்பட்ட திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 2: 14-18 

ஊனும் இரத்தமும் கொண்ட பிள்ளைகளைப்போல் கிறிஸ்துவும் அதே இயல்பில் பங்கு கொண்டார். இவ்வாறு சாவின்மேல் ஆற்றல் கொண்டிருந்த அலகையைச் சாவின் வழியாகவே அழித்துவிட்டார். வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் சாவு பற்றிய அச்சத்தினால் அடிமைப்பட்டிருந்தவர்களை விடுவித்தார். ஏனெனில் அவர் வானதூதருக்குத் துணை நிற்கவில்லை. மாறாக, ஆபிரகாமின் வழிமரபினருக்கே துணை நின்றார் என்பது கண்கூடு. ஆதலின், கடவுள் பணியில் அவர் இரக்கமும் நம்பிக்கையும் உள்ள தலைமைக் குருவாயிருந்து, மக்களுடைய பாவங்களுக்குக் கழுவாயாகுமாறு எல்லாவற்றிலும் தம் சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளைப் போல் ஆகவேண்டிய தாயிற்று. இவ்வாறு தாமே சோதனைக்கு உள்ளாகித் துன்பப்பட்டதனால் சோதிக்கப்படுவோருக்கு உதவி செய்ய அவர் வல்லவர். 

இது ஆண்டவர் வழங்கும் அருள்வாக்கு.

Jesus was teaching people with authority. 

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark 1:21-28 

They went as far as Capernaum, and at once on the Sabbath he went into the synagogue and began to teach.

And his teaching made a deep impression on them because, unlike the scribes, he taught them with authority.

And at once in their synagogue there was a man with an unclean spirit, and he shouted,

'What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are: the Holy One of God.'

But Jesus rebuked it saying, 'Be quiet! Come out of him!'

And the unclean spirit threw the man into convulsions and with a loud cry went out of him.

The people were so astonished that they started asking one another what it all meant, saying, 'Here is a teaching that is new, and with authority behind it: he gives orders even to unclean spirits and they obey him.'

And his reputation at once spread everywhere, through all the surrounding Galilean countryside.

The one who begins and leads the redemption deserves to be made complete by suffering. 

A Reading from the Book of Hebrews 2:5-12 

It was not under angels that he put the world to come, about which we are speaking.

Someone witnesses to this somewhere with the words: What are human beings that you spare a thought for them, a child of Adam that you care for him?

For a short while you have made him less than the angels; you have crowned him with glory and honour,

put all things under his feet. For in putting all things under him he made no exceptions. At present, it is true, we are not able to see that all things are under him,

but we do see Jesus, who was for a short while made less than the angels, now crowned with glory and honour because he submitted to death; so that by God's grace his experience of death should benefit all humanity.

It was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should, in bringing many sons to glory, make perfect through suffering the leader of their salvation.

இயேசுவும் சீடர்களும் கப்பர்நாகும் ஊரில் நுழைந்தார்கள். ஓய்வு நாள்களில் இயேசு தொழுகைக்கூடத்திற்குச் சென்று கற்பித்து வந்தார். அவருடைய போதனையைக் குறித்து மக்கள் வியப்பில் ஆழ்ந்தார்கள். ஏனெனில் அவர் மறைநூல் அறிஞரைப் போலன்றி, அதிகாரத்தோடு அவர்களுக்குக் கற்பித்து வந்தார். அப்போது அவர்களுடைய தொழுகைக்கூடத்தில் தீய ஆவி பிடித்திருந்த ஒருவர் இருந்தார். அவரைப் பிடித்திருந்த ஆவி, ``நாசரேத்து இயேசுவே, உமக்கு இங்கு என்ன வேலை? எங்களை ஒழித்துவிடவா வந்தீர்? நீர் யார் என எனக்குத் தெரியும். நீர் கடவுளுக்கு அர்ப்பணமானவர்'' என்று கத்தியது. ``வாயை மூடு; இவரை விட்டு வெளியே போ'' என்று இயேசு அதனை அதட்டினார். அப்பொழுது அத்தீய ஆவி அம்மனிதருக்கு வலிப்பு உண்டாக்கிப் பெருங்கூச்சலிட்டு அவரை விட்டு வெளியேறிற்று. அவர்கள் அனைவரும் திகைப்புற்று, ``இது என்ன? இது அதிகாரம் கொண்ட புதிய போதனையாய் இருக்கிறதே! இவர் தீய ஆவிகளுக்கும் கட்டளையிடுகிறார்; அவையும் இவருக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிகின்றனவே!'' என்று தங்களிடையே பேசிக்கொண்டனர். அவரைப் பற்றிய செய்தி உடனே கலிலேயாவின் சுற்றுப்புறமெங்கும் பரவியது. 

இது கிறிஸ்து வழங்கும் நற்செய்தி
