ஏழுமுறை மட்டுமல்ல; எழுபது தடவை ஏழுமுறை என நான் உனக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்.

✠ மத்தேயு எழுதிய தூய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 18: 21-35

அக்காலத்தில்

பேதுரு இயேசுவை அணுகி, “ஆண்டவரே, என் சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளுள் ஒருவர் எனக்கு எதிராகப் பாவம் செய்துவந்தால் நான் எத்தனை முறை அவரை மன்னிக்க வேண்டும்? ஏழு முறை மட்டுமா"? எனக் கேட்டார். அதற்கு இயேசு அவரிடம் கூறியது: “ஏழு முறை மட்டுமல்ல; எழுபது தடவை ஏழு முறை என நான் உனக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்.

விண்ணரசைப் பின்வரும் நிகழ்ச்சிக்கு ஒப்பிடலாம்; ஓர் அரசர் தம் பணியாளர்களிடம் கணக்குக் கேட்க விரும்பினார். அவர் கணக்குப் பார்க்கத் தொடங்கிய பொழுது, அவரிடம் பத்தாயிரம் தாலந்து கடன்பட்ட ஒருவனைக் கொண்டு வந்தனர். அவன் பணத்தைத் திருப்பிக் கொடுக்க இயலாத நிலையில் இருந்தான். தலைவரோ, அவனையும் அவன் மனைவி மக்களோடு அவனுக்குரிய உடைமைகள் யாவற்றையும் விற்றுப் பணத்தைத் திருப்பி அடைக்க ஆணையிட்டார். உடனே அப்பணியாள் அவர் காலில் விழுந்து பணிந்து, ‘என்னைப் பொறுத்தருள்க; எல்லாவற்றையும் உமக்குத் திருப்பித் தந்து விடுகிறேன்’ என்றான். அப்பணியாளின் தலைவர் பரிவு கொண்டு அவனை விடுவித்து அவனது கடன் முழுவதையும் தள்ளுபடி செய்தார்.

ஆனால் அப்பணியாள் வெளியே சென்றதும், தன்னிடம் நூறு தெனாரியம் கடன்பட்டிருந்த உடன்பணியாளர் ஒருவரைக் கண்டு, ‘நீ பட்ட கடனைத் திருப்பித் தா’ எனக் கூறி அவரைப் பிடித்துக் கழுத்தை நெரித்தான். உடனே அவனுடைய உடன்பணியாளர் காலில் விழுந்து, என்னைப் பொறுத்தருள்க; நான் திருப்பிக் கொடுத்து விடுகிறேன்’ என்று அவனைக் கெஞ்சிக் கேட்டார். ஆனால் அவன் அதற்கு இசையாது, கடனைத் திருப்பி அடைக்கும்வரை அவரைச் சிறையில் அடைத்தான்.

அவருடைய உடன்பணியாளர்கள் நடந்ததைக் கண்டபோது மிகவும் வருந்தித் தலைவரிடம் போய் நடந்தவற்றையெல்லாம் விளக்கிக் கூறினார்கள். அப்போது தலைவர் அவனை வரவழைத்து, ‘பொல்லாதவனே, நீ என்னை வேண்டிக்கொண்டதால் அந்தக் கடன் முழுவதையும் உனக்குத் தள்ளுபடி செய்தேன். நான் உனக்கு இரக்கம் காட்டியதுபோல நீயும் உன் உடன்பணியாளருக்கு இரக்கம் காட்டியிருக்க வேண்டும் அல்லவா?’ என்று கேட்டார். அத்தலைவர் சினங் கொண்டவராய், அனைத்துக் கடனையும் அவன் அடைக்கும்வரை அவனை வதைப்போரிடம் ஒப்படைத்தார்.

உங்களுள் ஒவ்வொருவரும் தம் சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளை மனமார மன்னிக்காவிட்டால் விண்ணுலகில் இருக்கும் என் தந்தையும் உங்களை மன்னிக்க மாட்டார்.”

ஆண்டவரின் அருள்வாக்கு.

வாழ்ந்தாலும் இறந்தாலும் நாம் ஆண்டவருக்கே உரியவர்களாய் இருக்கிறோம்.

திருத்தூதர் பவுல் உரோமையருக்கு எழுதிய திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 14: 7-9

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

நம்மிடையே எவரும் தமக்கென்று வாழ்வதில்லை; தமக்கென்று இறப்பதுமில்லை. வாழ்ந்தாலும் நாம் ஆண்டவருக்கென்றே வாழ்கிறோம்; இறந்தாலும் ஆண்டவருக்கென்றே இறக்கிறோம். ஆகவே, வாழ்ந்தாலும் இறந்தாலும் நாம் ஆண்டவருக்கே உரியவர்களாய் இருக்கிறோம். ஏனெனில், இறந்தோர்மீதும் வாழ்வோர்மீதும் ஆட்சி செலுத்தவே கிறிஸ்து இறந்தும் வாழ்கிறார்.

மேற்கினின்று கிழக்கு எத்துணைத் தொலைவில் உள்ளதோ; அத்துணைத் தொலைவிற்கு நம் குற்றங்களை நம்மிடமிருந்து அவர் அகற்றுகின்றார்.

வெகுளி, சினம் ஆகிய இரண்டும் வெறுப்புக்குரியவை; பாவிகள் இவற்றைப் பற்றிக்கொள்கின்றார்கள்.

பழிவாங்குவோர் ஆண்டவரிடமிருந்து பழிக்குப் பழியே பெறுவர். ஆண்டவர் அவர்களுடைய பாவங்களைத் திண்ணமாய் நினைவில் வைத்திருப்பார்.

உனக்கு அடுத்திருப்பவர் செய்த அநீதியை மன்னித்துவிடு; அவ்வாறெனில் நீ மன்றாடும்போது உன் பாவங்கள் மன்னிக்கப்படும். மனிதர் மனிதர்மீது சினங்கொள்கின்றனர்; அவ்வாறிருக்க, ஆண்டவர் தங்களுக்கு நலம் அளிப்பார் என எவ்வாறு எதிர்பார்க்க முடியும்? மனிதர் தம் போன்ற மனிதருக்கு இரக்கம் காட்டுவதில்லை; அப்போது அவர்கள் தம் பாவ மன்னிப்புக்காக எப்படி மன்றாட முடியும்? அழியும் தன்மை கொண்ட மனிதர் வெகுளியை வளர்க்கின்றனர். அவ்வாறாயின், யார் அவர்களுடைய பாவங்களுக்குக் கழுவாய் தேட முடியும்?

Therefore the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants. When he began to settle, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. And since he could not pay, his master ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made. So the servant fell on his knees, imploring him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.’ And out of pity for him, the master of that servant released him and forgave him the debt. But when that same servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii, and seizing him, he began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay what you owe.’ So his fellow servant fell down and pleaded with him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you.’ He refused and went and put him in prison until he should pay the debt. When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their master all that had taken place. A Reading from the book of Sirach 27: 30–28:7

Anger and wrath, these also are abominations, and the sinful man will hold them fast. The one who seeks vengeance will be paid vengeance from the Lord, and he who keeps a record will have his own sins recorded. Forgive your neighbour the wrong he has done, and then your sins will be pardoned when you pray. Does one person harbour anger against another and yet seek for healing from the Lord? Does he have no mercy towards someone like himself and yet pray concerning his own sins? If he himself, being flesh, maintains wrath, who will make atonement for his sins? Remember the end of your life and cease from enmity, remember destruction and death and be true to the commandments. Remember the commandments and do not be angry with your neighbour; remember the covenant of the Most High and overlook error.
