A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to  Mark (8, 1-10) 

In those days, as there was again a great crowd, and the people had nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples to him and said to them: "I have compassion on this crowd, for ever since They are already staying with me for three days, and have nothing to eat. If I send them home on an empty stomach, they will faint along the way, and some of them have come a long way. His disciples answered him, "Where then can we find bread to satisfy them here in the desert? He asked them, "How many loaves do you have? They said to him, "Seven." So he ordered the crowd to sit on the ground. Then taking the seven loaves and giving thanks, he broke them, and gave them to his disciples to distribute; and they distributed them to the crowd. They also had a few small fish, that Jesus blessed and also distributed. The people ate and were satisfied. They picked up the pieces that remained: that made seven baskets. Now, they were about four thousand. Then Jesus sent them away. Immediately, getting into the boat with his disciples, he went to the region of Dalmanoutha.

காது கேளாதோர் கேட்கவும், பேச்சற்றோர் பேசவும், ஆண்டவர் செய்கிறார்.

அந்நாள்களில்

ஆண்டவராகிய கடவுள் உருவாக்கிய காட்டு விலங்குகளிலெல்லாம் பாம்பு மிகவும் சூழ்ச்சிமிக்கதாக இருந்தது. அது பெண்ணிடம், “கடவுள் உங்களிடம் தோட்டத்திலுள்ள எல்லா மரங்களிலிருந்தும் உண்ணக்கூடாது என்றது உண்மையா?” என்று கேட்டது.

அந்த மரம் உண்பதற்குச் சுவையானதாகவும் கண்களுக்குக் களிப்பூட்டுவதாகவும் அறிவு பெறுவதற்கு விரும்பத்தக்கதாகவும் இருந்ததைக் கண்டு, பெண் அதன் பழத்தைப் பறித்து உண்டாள். அதைத் தன்னுடன் இருந்த தன் கணவனுக்கும் கொடுத்தாள். அவனும் உண்டான்.

அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் இருவரின் கண்களும் திறக்கப்பட்டன; அவர்கள் தாங்கள் ஆடையின்றி இருப்பதை அறிந்தனர். ஆகவே, அத்தி இலைகளைத் தைத்துத் தங்களுக்கு ஆடைகளைச் செய்துகொண்டனர்.

"You will be like gods, knowing good and evil" 

from the book of Genesis (3, 1-8) 

The serpent was the most cunning of all the field animals that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “So God really said to you, 'You shall not eat of any tree in the garden'? The woman replied to the serpent: "We are eating the fruits of the trees in the garden. But, for the fruit of the tree that's in the middle of the garden, God said, “You shall not eat of it, nor touch it, or you will die.” The snake said to the woman, "Not at all!" You will not die! But God knows that the day you eat it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like gods, knowing good and evil. The woman noticed that the fruit of the tree must be tasty, that it was pleasant to look at and that it was desirable, this tree, since it gave intelligence. She took of its fruit, and ate it. She also gave it to her husband, and he ate it. Then both of their eyes opened and they realized they were naked. They tied fig leaves together, and made loincloths out of them.
