At that time, Jesus had just been baptized. Immediately the Spirit drove him into the desert, and in the desert he remained forty days, tempted by Satan. He lived among wild beasts, and the angels served him.

After John's arrest, Jesus left for Galilee to proclaim the Gospel of God; he said: "The times are fulfilled: the reign of God is very near." Convert and believe in the gospel. "

Baptism saves you now 

from the first letter of Saint Peter the apostle (3, 18-22) 

Beloved, Christ, too, suffered for sins only once, he, the righteous, for the unjust, in order to bring you before God; he was put to death in the flesh, but quickened in the Spirit. It was in him that he went to proclaim his message to the spirits who were in captivity. These long ago had refused to obey, in the days of God's patience long, when Noah built the ark, in which a small number, in all eight people, were saved through the water. He was a figure of baptism who now saves you: baptism does not purify external defilements, but it is the commitment to God with an upright conscience and it saves through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, he who is on the right of God, after having gone to heaven, to whom the angels are subject, 

🌿Gospel Acclamation 

Man will live not by bread alone, but by every word of God.

Covenant of God with Noah who escaped the flood 

from the book of Genesis (9, 8-15) 

God said to Noah and his sons: "Behold, I establish my covenant with you, with your descendants after you, and with all living creatures that are with you: the birds, the cattle, all the beasts of the land. earth, whatever came out of the ark. Yes, I establish my covenant with you: no being of flesh will be destroyed any more by the waters of the flood, there will be no more flood to ravage the earth. God said again: "This is the sign of the covenant that I am making between myself and you, and with all living creatures who are with you, for generations forever: I set my bow in the midst of the clouds, so that 'it is the sign of the alliance between me and the earth. When I gather the clouds above the earth, and the arc appears in the midst of the clouds, I will remember my covenant which is between me and you, and all living beings: the waters will no longer turn into a flood to destroy every being of flesh. "

அக்காலத்தில் 

இயேசு சுங்கச் சாவடியில் அமர்ந்திருந்த லேவி என்னும் பெயருடைய வரிதண்டுபவர் ஒருவரைக் கண்டார்; அவரிடம், “என்னைப் பின்பற்றி வா!” என்றார். அவர் அனைத்தையும் விட்டுவிட்டு எழுந்து இயேசுவைப் பின்பற்றிச் சென்றார். 

இந்த லேவி தம் வீட்டில் அவருக்கு ஒரு பெரிய விருந்து அளித்தார். வரிதண்டுபவர்களும் மற்றவர்களும் பெருந்திரளாய் அவர்களோடு பந்தியில் அமர்ந்தார்கள். பரிசேயர்களும் அவர்களைச் சேர்ந்த மறைநூல் அறிஞர்களும் முணுமுணுத்து இயேசுவின் சீடரிடம், “வரிதண்டுபவர்க ளோடும் பாவிகளோடும் சேர்ந்து நீங்கள் உண்பதும் குடிப்பதும் ஏன்?” என்று கேட்டனர். இயேசு அவர்களுக்கு மறுமொழியாக, “நோயற்றவர்க்கு அல்ல, நோயுற்றவர்க்கே மருத்துவர் தேவை. நேர்மையாளர்களை அல்ல, பாவிகளையே மனம் மாற அழைக்க வந்தேன்” என்றார். 

இது கிறிஸ்து வழங்கும் நற்செய்தி.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Luke 5:27-32 

Jesus noticed a tax collector, Levi by name, sitting by the customs house, and said to him, ‘Follow me.’ And leaving everything he got up and followed him.

  In his honour Levi held a great reception in his house, and with them at table was a large gathering of tax collectors and others. The Pharisees and their scribes complained to his disciples and said, ‘Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?’ Jesus said to them in reply, ‘It is not those who are well who need the doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the virtuous, but sinners to repentance.’

You will be like a spring whose waters never run dry

A Reading from the Book of Isaiah 58 : 9-14. 

The Lord says this:

If you do away with the yoke,

the clenched fist, the wicked word,

if you give your bread to the hungry,

and relief to the oppressed,

your light will rise in the darkness,

and your shadows become like noon.

The Lord will always guide you,

giving you relief in desert places.

He will give strength to your bones

and you shall be like a watered garden,

like a spring of water

whose waters never run dry.

You will rebuild the ancient ruins,

build up on the old foundations.

You will be called ‘Breach-mender’,

‘Restorer of ruined houses.’

If you refrain from trampling the sabbath,

and doing business on the holy day,

if you call the Sabbath ‘Delightful’,

and the day sacred to the Lord ‘Honourable’,

if you honour it by abstaining from travel,

from doing business and from gossip,

then shall you find your happiness in the Lord

and I will lead you triumphant over the heights of the land.

I will feed you on the heritage of Jacob your father.

For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
