தங்களின் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவரின் குரலைக் கேளாத மக்களினம் இதுவே.

இறைவாக்கினர் எரேமியா நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 7: 23-28

ஆண்டவர் கூறியது:

நான் இஸ்ரயேலுக்குக் கொடுத்த கட்டளை இதுவே: என் குரலுக்குச் செவிகொடுங்கள். அப்போது நான் உங்களுக்குக் கடவுளாய் இருப்பேன். நீங்கள் எனக்கு மக்களாய் இருப்பீர்கள். நான் கட்டளையிட்ட நெறிகள் அனைத்தையும் கடைப்பிடியுங்கள். அது உங்களுக்கு நலம் பயக்கும்.

அவர்களோ செவிசாய்க்கவும் இல்லை; கவனிக்கவும் இல்லை. பிடிவாத குணமுடைய அவர்களின் தீய உள்ளத்தின் திட்டப்படி நடந்தார்கள்; முன்னோக்கிச் செல்வதற்குப் பதில் பின்னோக்கிச் சென்றார்கள். உங்கள் மூதாதையர் எகிப்து நாட்டிலிருந்து வெளியேறிய நாளிலிருந்து இன்றுவரை ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் தொடர்ந்து என் ஊழியர்களாகிய இறைவாக்கினர்களை உங்களிடம் அனுப்பியுள்ளேன். அவர்களோ எனக்குச் செவிசாய்க்கவில்லை; கவனிக்கவில்லை; முரட்டுப் பிடிவாதம் கொண்டு தங்கள் மூதாதையரைவிட அதிகத் தீச்செயல் செய்தனர்.

நீ அவர்களிடம் இச்சொற்களை எல்லாம் கூறுவாய்; அவர்களோ உனக்குச் செவிசாய்க்க மாட்டார்கள். நீ அவர்களை அழைப்பாய்; அவர்களோ உனக்குப் பதில் தரமாட்டார்கள். தங்களின் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவரின் குரலைக் கேளாத, அவர் தண்டித்தும் திருந்தாத இனம் இதுவே, என அவர்களிடம் சொல். உண்மை அழிந்து போயிற்று. அது அவர்கள் வாயிலிருந்து அகன்று போயிற்று.

At that time, Jesus was casting out a demon that made a man dumb. When the demon was out, the mute began to speak, and the crowds were in awe. But some of them said: "It is by Beelzebub, the leader of the demons, that he expels the demons. Others, in order to test him, sought to obtain a sign from him from heaven. Reading from the book of the prophet Jeremiah (7, 23-28) 

Thus says the Lord: This is the command I gave to your fathers: “Hear my voice, I will be your God, and you will be my people; you will follow all the paths that I have prescribed for you, so that you may be happy. But they did not listen, they did not listen, they followed the evil inclinations of their hardened hearts; they turned their backs and not their faces. From the day that your fathers left the land of Egypt until this day, I have tirelessly sent all my servants the prophets to you. இயேசு தம் சீடரை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: “திருச்சட்டத்தையோ இறைவாக்குகளையோ நான் அழிக்க வந்தேன் என நீங்கள் எண்ண வேண்டாம்; அவற்றை அழிப்பதற்கல்ல, நிறைவேற்றுவதற்கே வந்தேன். விண்ணும் மண்ணும் ஒழிந்து போகுமுன் திருச்சட்டம் யாவும் நிறைவேறும். அதன் ஒரு சிற்றெழுத்தோ ஒரு புள்ளியோ ஒழியாது என உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

மோசே மக்களைப் பார்த்துக் கூறியது: இப்பொழுது இஸ்ரயேலரே! கேளுங்கள்; நான் உங்களுக்குக் கற்றுத்தரும் நியமங்கள், முறைமைகளின்படி ஒழுகுங்கள். அதனால் நீங்கள் வாழ்ந்து, உங்கள் மூதாதையரின் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவர் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கும் நாட்டுக்குச் சென்று அதை உரிமையாக்குவீர்கள்.

நம் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவரின் கட்டளைப்படியே நியமங்களையும் முறைமைகளையும் உங்களுக்குக் கற்றுத் தருகிறேன். எனவே, நீங்கள் போய் உரிமையாக்கிக்கொள்ளும் நாட்டில் அவற்றைப் பின்பற்ற வேண்டும். நீங்கள் அவற்றைப் பின்பற்றி நடங்கள். அதுவே மக்களினங்கள் முன்னிலையில் உங்கள் ஞானமும் அறிவாற்றலுமாய் விளங்கும். இந்த நியமங்களைக் கேள்வியுறும் அனைவரும், உண்மையில் இப்பேரினம் ஞானமும் அறிவாற்றலும் கொண்ட மக்களால் ஆனது என்பர்.

நாம் குரல் எழுப்பும்போதெல்லாம் நம் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவர் நம்மோடு உள்ளார். அவரைப்போல், மக்களுக்கு மிகவும் நெருங்கிய கடவுளைக் கொண்ட வேறு பேரினம் ஏதாகிலும் உண்டா? நான் இன்று நேர்மைமிகு சட்டங்களை உங்களுக்குத் தந்துள்ளேன். இவற்றைப் போன்ற நியமங்களையும் முறைமைகளையும் கொண்ட வேறு பேரினம் ஏதாகிலும் உண்டா?

கவனமாய் இருங்கள்; உங்கள் கண்களால் நீங்கள் கண்ட அனைத்தையும் மறந்துபோகாதபடி உங்கள் இதயங்களில் காத்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள். உங்கள் வாழ்நாள் முழுமையும் நீங்கள் அவற்றை மறக்க வேண்டாம். உங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்கும், பேரப் பிள்ளைகளுக்கும் அவற்றை எடுத்துக் கூறுங்கள்.

Moses was saying to the people, “Now, Israel, listen to the decrees and ordinances that I am teaching you so that you may put them into practice. So you will live, you will enter to take possession of it in the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you. See, I am teaching you the decrees and ordinances that the Lord my God has given me for you, so that you may put them into practice in the land where you are going to enter to take possession of them. You will keep them, you will put them into practice; they will be your wisdom and intelligence in the eyes of all peoples. When they hear about all these decrees, they will cry out: “There is not a wise and intelligent people like this great nation! What is indeed the great nation whose gods are as near as the Lord our God is near to us every time we call upon him? And what great nation is there whose decrees and ordinances are as righteous as all this Law that I am giving you today? But take care: take care never to forget what your eyes have seen; don't let it go out of your heart for a single day. Teach it to your sons, and to your sons' sons. "
