நான் என் வலுவின்மையைப் பற்றித்தான் மனமுவந்து பெருமை பாராட்டுவேன்.

திருத்தூதர் பவுல் கொரிந்தியருக்கு எழுதிய இரண்டாம் திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 12: 1-10

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

பெருமை பாராட்டுதல் பயனற்றதே. ஆயினும் பெருமை பாராட்ட வேண்டி இருப்பதால் ஆண்டவர் அருளிய காட்சிகளையும் வெளிப்பாடுகளையும் குறித்துப் பேசப்போகிறேன். கிறிஸ்துவின் அடியான் ஒருவனை எனக்குத் தெரியும். அவன் பதினான்கு ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு ஒரு முறை மூன்றாம் வானம் வரை எடுத்துச் செல்லப்பட்டான். அவன் உடலோடு அங்குச் சென்றானா, உடலின்றி அங்குச் சென்றானா, யான் அறியேன். கடவுளே அதை அறிவார். ஆனால் அம்மனிதன் பேரின்ப வீட்டுக்கு எடுத்துச் செல்லப்பட்டான் என்பது எனக்குத் தெரியும். நான் மீண்டும் சொல்கிறேன்; அவன் உடலோடு அங்குச் சென்றானா அல்லது உடலின்றி அங்குச் சென்றானா, யான் அறியேன். கடவுளே அதை அறிவார். அவன் அங்கே மனிதரால் உச்சரிக்கவும் சொல்லவும் முடியாத வார்த்தைகளைச் சொல்லக் கேட்டான்.

இந்த ஆளைப் பற்றியே நான் பெருமை பாராட்டுவேன். என் வலுவின்மையே எனக்குப் பெருமை. அப்படி நான் பெருமை பாராட்ட விரும்பினாலும் அது அறிவீனமாய் இராது. நான் பேசுவது உண்மையாகவே இருக்கும். ஆயினும் என்னிடம் காண்பதையும் கேட்பதையும்விட உயர்வாக யாரும் என்னைக் கருதாதபடி நான் பெருமை பாராட்டாது விடுகிறேன்.

எனக்கு அருளப்பட்ட ஒப்புயர்வற்ற வெளிப்பாடுகளால் நான் இறுமாப்பு அடையாதவாறு பெருங்குறை ஒன்று என் உடலில் தைத்த முள்போல் என்னை வருத்திக் கொண்டே இருக்கிறது. அது என்னைக் குத்திக் கொடுமைப்படுத்தச் சாத்தான் அனுப்பிய தூதனைப்போல் இருக்கிறது. நான் இறுமாப்பு அடையாது இருக்கவே இவ்வாறு நடக்கிறது. அதை என்னிடமிருந்து நீக்கிவிடுமாறு மூன்று முறை ஆண்டவரிடம் வருந்தி வேண்டினேன். ஆனால் அவர் என்னிடம், “என் அருள் உனக்குப் போதும்; வலுவின்மையில்தான் வல்லமை நிறைவாய் வெளிப்படும்” என்றார்.

ஆதலால் நான் என் வலுவின்மையைப் பற்றித்தான் மனமுவந்து பெருமை பாராட்டுவேன். அப்போது கிறிஸ்துவின் வல்லமை என்னுள் தங்கும். ஆகவே என் வலுவின்மையிலும் இகழ்ச்சியிலும் இடரிலும் இன்னலிலும் நெருக்கடியிலும் கிறிஸ்துவை முன்னிட்டு நான் அகமகிழ்கிறேன். ஏனெனில் நான் வலுவற்றிருக்கும்போது வல்லமை பெற்றவனாக இருக்கிறேன்.

This is why I say to you: Do not worry for your life what you will eat, nor for your body what you will clothe it with. Isn't life worth more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air: they do not sow or harvest, they do not gather in barns, and your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not yourselves worth much more than they? Who among you, by worrying, can add a cubit to the length of your life? And about clothes, why are you so worried? Observe how the lilies of the field grow: they don't work, they don't spin. Brothers, should we boast? This is not helpful. I will come, however, to the visions and revelations received from the Lord. I know that a follower of Christ fourteen years ago was carried to the third heaven - is it in his body? I do not know ; is it outside of his body? I do not know ; God knows - but I know this man in that state - is it in his body, is it without his body? I don't know, God knows - that man was taken to Heaven and he heard ineffable words that a man must not say again. Of such a man I can boast, but for myself I will boast only about my weaknesses.
