உண்மையாகவே நம் சகோதரனை முன்னிட்டே இப்பொழுது நாம் தண்டிக்கப்படுகிறோம்.

தொடக்க நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 41: 55-57; 42: 5-7, 17-24

அந்நாள்களில்

எகிப்து நாடு முழுவதும் பஞ்சம் வந்தபோது, மக்கள் பார்வோனிடம் வந்து உணவுக்காக ஓலமிட்டனர். பார்வோன் எகிப்தியர் அனைவரையும் நோக்கி, “யோசேப்பிடம் செல்லுங்கள்; அவர் சொல்வதைச் செய்யுங்கள்” என்று கூறினான். நாடு முழுவதும் பஞ்சம் பரவிய பொழுது, யோசேப்பு களஞ்சியங்களைத் திறந்து, எகிப்தியர்களுக்குத் தானியங்களை விற்குமாறு செய்தார். ஏனெனில் எகிப்து நாட்டில் பஞ்சம் கடுமையாய் இருந்தது. உலகம் எங்கும் கொடும் பஞ்சம் நிலவியது. அனைத்து நாட்டு மக்களும் யோசேப்பிடம் தானியம் வாங்க எகிப்திற்கு வந்தார்கள்.

கானான் நாட்டிலும் பஞ்சம் நிலவியதால், அங்கிருந்து தானியம் வாங்கச் சென்ற மற்றவர்களோடு இஸ்ரயேலின் புதல்வர்களும் சேர்ந்து சென்றனர். அப்பொழுது, யோசேப்பு நாட்டுக்கு ஆளுநராய் இருந்து மக்கள் அனைவருக்கும் தானியம் விற்கும் அதிகாரம் பெற்றிருந்தார். எனவே அவருடைய சகோதரர்கள் வந்து, தரை மட்டும் தாழ்ந்து யோசேப்பை வணங்கினார்கள். யோசேப்பு தம் சகோதரர்களை அடையாளம் கண்டுகொண்டார். ஆயினும் அவர்களை அறியாதவர்போல் கடுமையாக அவர்களிடம் பேசி, ‘நீங்கள் எங்கிருந்து வருகிறீர்கள்?’ என்று வினவினார். அவர்களோ, ‘நாங்கள் கானான் நாட்டிலிருந்து உணவுப் பொருள்கள் வாங்க வந்திருக்கிறோம்’ என்று பதில் கூறினார்கள். பின்னர் அவர் அவர்களை மூன்று நாள் காவலில் வைத்தார்.

மூன்றாம் நாள் யோசேப்பு அவர்களை நோக்கி, “நான் சொல்கிறபடி செய்யுங்கள்; செய்தால், பிழைக்கலாம். ஏனெனில் நான் கடவுளுக்கு அஞ்சுபவன். நீங்கள் குற்றமற்றவர்களானால் சகோதரராகிய உங்களில் ஒருவன் சிறைச்சாலையில் அடைபட்டிருக்கட்டும். மற்றவர்கள் புறப்பட்டு, பஞ்சத்தால் வாடும் உங்கள் குடும்பங்களுக்குத் தானியம் கொண்டு போகலாம். உங்கள் இளைய சகோதரனை என்னிடம் அழைத்து வாருங்கள். அப்பொழுது நீங்கள் கூறியது உண்மையென்று விளங்கும். நீங்களும் சாவுக்கு உள்ளாகமாட்டீர்கள்” என்றார். அவர்களும் அப்படியே செய்தனர்.

அப்போது, அவர்கள் ஒருவர் மற்றவரிடம், “உண்மையாகவே நம் சகோதரனை முன்னிட்டே இப்பொழுது நாம் தண்டிக்கப்படுகிறோம். தன் உயிருக்காக எவ்வளவு துயரத்துடன் நம்மிடம் கெஞ்சி மன்றாடினான்! நாமோ அவனுக்குச் செவிசாய்க்கவில்லை! நமக்கு இத்துன்பம் ஏற்பட்டதற்கு அதுவே காரணம்” என்று சொல்லிக் கொண்டனர். அப்பொழுது ரூபன் மற்றவர்களிடம், “பையனுக்கு எத்தீங்கும் இழைக்காதீர்கள் என்று உங்களுக்கு நான் சொல்லவில்லையா? நீங்களோ செவிகொடுக்கவில்லை. இதோ, அவனது இரத்தம் நம்மிடம் ஈடு கேட்கிறது!” என்றார்.

யோசேப்பு மொழிபெயர்ப்பாளன் மூலம் அவர்களிடம் பேசியதால், தாங்கள் சொன்னது அவருக்குத் தெரியுமென்று அவர்கள் அறியவில்லை. அப்போது அவர் அவர்களிடமிருந்து ஒதுங்கிச்சென்று அழுதார். பின்பு, திரும்பி வந்து அவர்களோடு பேசுகையில் சிமியோனைப் பிடித்து அவர்கள் கண்முன்பாக அவனுக்கு விலங்கிட்டார்.

"Go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel" 

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To Matthew (10, 1-7) 

At that time Jesus called his twelve disciples and gave them power to cast out unclean spirits and heal all sickness and infirmity. These are the names of the Twelve Apostles: the first, Simon, named Peter; André his brother; James, son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philippe and Barthélemy; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James, son of Alpheus, and Thaddeus; Simon the Zealot and Judas the Iscariot, the very one who delivered him up. These twelve Jesus sent on a mission with the following instructions: “Do not take the road that leads to the heathen nations and do not enter any city of the Samaritans. Rather go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. On your way, proclaim that the kingdom of Heaven is very near. "

A Reading from the book of Genesis (41, 55-57; 42, 5-7a. 17-24a) 

In those days all the land of Egypt suffered from hunger, and the people cried out for bread from Pharaoh. But Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, “Go find Joseph, and do as he tells you. The famine spread throughout the country. So Joseph opened up all the stores and sold wheat to the Egyptians, while the famine deepened in the land. From everywhere people came to Egypt to buy wheat from Joseph, for the famine was getting worse everywhere. So the sons of Israel, that is, Jacob, among many other people, came to buy grain, for there was a famine in the land of Canaan. It was Joseph who organized the sale of the wheat for all the people of the land, for he had full authority in the land. When Joseph's brothers arrived, they bowed down to him with their faces to the earth. As soon as he saw them, he recognized them, but he behaved like a stranger to them and spoke harshly to them. He kept them at the guardhouse for three days. On the third day he said to them, "Do as I tell you, and you will stay alive, for I fear God." If you are in good faith, may one of you remain a prisoner at the guard post. You others, go with what is necessary of wheat to avoid famine to your clan. Then you will bring your younger brother to me: so your words will be verified, and you will not be put to death. அக்காலத்தில்

பேய்பிடித்துப் பேச்சிழந்த ஒருவரைச் சிலர் இயேசுவிடம் கொண்டு வந்தனர். பேயை அவர் ஓட்டியதும் பேச இயலாத அவர் பேசினார். மக்கள் கூட்டத்தினர் வியப்புற்று, “இஸ்ரயேலில் இப்படி ஒருபோதும் கண்டதில்லை” என்றனர். ஆனால் பரிசேயர், “இவன் பேய்களின் தலைவனைக் கொண்டு பேய்களை ஓட்டுகிறான்” என்றனர்.

இயேசு நகர்கள், சிற்றூர்கள் எல்லாம் சுற்றிவந்தார். எங்கும் அவர்களுடைய தொழுகைக்கூடங்களில் கற்பித்தார்; விண்ணரசைப் பற்றிய நற்செய்தியைப் பறைசாற்றினார்; நோய்நொடிகள் அனைத்தையும் குணமாக்கினார். திரண்டிருந்த மக்களை அவர் கண்டபோது அவர்கள் மேல் பரிவு கொண்டார்: அவர்கள் ஆயர் இல்லா ஆடுகளைப் போல அலைக்கழிக்கப்பட்டுச் சோர்ந்து காணப்பட்டார்கள்.

அப்பொழுது அவர் தம் சீடரை நோக்கி, “அறுவடை மிகுதி; வேலையாள்களோ குறைவு. ஆகையால் தேவையான வேலையாள்களைத் தமது அறுவடைக்கு அனுப்பும்படி அறுவடையின் உரிமையாளரிடம் மன்றாடுங்கள்” என்றார்.

யாக்கோபு எழுந்து, தம் இரு மனைவியரையும் இரு வேலைக்காரிகளையும் புதல்வர் பதினொருவரையும் அழைத்துக் கொண்டு யாபோக்கு ஆற்றின் துறையைக் கடந்தார். அப்படி அவர்களை ஆற்றைக் கடக்கச் செய்தபோது, தமக்கிருந்த அனைத்தையும் அனுப்பி வைத்தார்.

யாக்கோபு மட்டும் இவ்வாறு தனித்திருக்க, ஓர் ஆடவர் பொழுது விடியுமட்டும் அவரோடு மற்போரிட்டார். யாக்கோபை வெற்றி கொள்ள முடியாது என்று கண்ட அந்த ஆடவர் அவரது தொடைச்சந்தைத் தொட்டார். யாக்கோபு அவரோடு மற்போரிடுகையில் தொடைச்சந்து இடம் விலகியது. அப்பொழுது ஆடவர் ‘என்னைப் போக விடு; பொழுது புலரப்போகிறது’ என, யாக்கோபு, “நீர் எனக்கு ஆசி வழங்கினாலொழிய உம்மைப் போக விடேன்” என்று மறுமொழி சொன்னார். ஆடவர், “உன் பெயர் என்ன?” என, அவர்: “நான் யாக்கோபு” என்றார். அப்பொழுது அவர், “உன் பெயர் இனி யாக்கோபு எனப்படாது, ‘இஸ்ரயேல்’ எனப்படும். ஏனெனில், நீ கடவுளோடும் மனிதரோடும் போராடி வெற்றி கொண்டாய்” என்றார். யாக்கோபு அவரை நோக்கி, “உம் பெயரைச் சொல்லும்” என்றார். அவர், “என் பெயரை நீ கேட்பதேன்?” என்று, அந்த இடத்திலேயே அவருக்கு ஆசி வழங்கினார்.

அப்பொழுது யாக்கோபு, “நான் கடவுளின் முகத்தை நேரில் கண்டும் உயிர் தப்பிப் பிழைத்தேன்” என்று சொல்லி, அந்த இடத்திற்குப் ‘பெனியேல்’ என்று பெயரிட்டார். அவர் பெனியேலுக்கு அப்பால் சென்றவுடன் கதிரவன் தோன்றினான். தொடை விலகியதால் அவரும் நொண்டி நொண்டி நடந்தார். அதன் பொருட்டு, இஸ்ரயேலர் இந்நாள்வரை தொடைச்சந்துச் சதை நாரை உண்பதில்லை. ஏனென்றால், அந்த ஆடவர் யாக்கோபின் தொடைச்சந்துச் சதை நாரைத் தொட்டார்.

"The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few" 

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To Matthew (9, 32-38) 

At that time, behold, a possessed man was presented to Jesus who was deaf and mute. When the demon had been cast out, the deaf mute began to speak. The crowds were in awe, and they said, "Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel!" But the Pharisees said, "It is by the leader of the demons that he expels the demons." "

Jesus roamed every town and town, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the gospel of the Kingdom, and healing all sickness and infirmity. Seeing the crowds, Jesus was seized with compassion towards them because they were helpless and downcast like sheep without a shepherd. He then said to his disciples: “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers for his harvest. "

That night Jacob got up, took his two wives, his two maids, his eleven children, and crossed the ford of the Yabboq. He made them pass the torrent and also made pass that which belonged to him. Jacob was left alone. Someone wrestled with him until dawn broke. The man, seeing that there was nothing he could do with him, hit him in the hip, and Jacob's hip twitched during this fight. The man said, "Let go of me, for the dawn has risen." Jacob replied, "I will not let go of you unless you bless me." The man asked, "What is your name? He replied, "Jacob.
