This is how we know we love God's children: when we love God and fulfill his commandments. For such is the love of God: to keep his commandments; and his commandments are not a burden, since every being that is born of God conquers the world. But the victory won over the world is our faith. Who is the conqueror of the world? Is it not he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? It is he, Jesus Christ, who came by water and by blood: not only with water, but with water and with blood. And he who bears witness is the Spirit, for the Spirit is truth.

Reading from the book of Acts of the Apostles (4, 32-35) 

The multitude of those who had become believers had one heart and one soul; and no one said that his possessions belonged to him, but they had everything in common. The Apostles bore witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus with great power, and abundant grace was upon them all. None of them was destitute, for all those who owned estates or houses sold them, and they brought the proceeds of the sale to deposit at the feet of the Apostles; then it was distributed according to individual needs.

மாற்கு எழுதிய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 16: 9-15

வாரத்தின் முதல்நாள் காலையில் இயேசு உயிர்த்தெழுந்த பின்பு அவர் முதலில் மகதலா மரியாவுக்குத் தோன்றினார். அவரிடமிருந்துதான் அவர் ஏழு பேய்களை ஓட்டியிருந்தார். மரியா புறப்பட்டுச் சென்று இயேசுவோடு இருந்தவர்களிடம் இதை அறிவித்தார். அவர்கள் துயருற்று அழுதுகொண்டிருந்தார்கள். அவர் உயிரோடு இருக்கிறார் என்றும் மரியா அவரைக் கண்டார் என்றும் கேட்டபோது அவர்கள் நம்பவில்லை.

அந்நாள்களில்

அதன் பின்பு தலைமைச் சங்கத்தார் அவர்களை அழைத்து, “இயேசுவைப் பற்றி எதுவும் பேசவோ, கற்பிக்கவோ கூடாது” என்று கண்டிப்பாகக் கட்டளையிட்டனர். அதற்குப் பேதுருவும் யோவானும் மறுமொழியாக, “உங்களுக்குச் செவிசாய்ப்பதா? கடவுளுக்குச் செவிசாய்ப்பதா? இதில் கடவுள் பார்வையில் எது முறையானது என நீங்களே தீர்மானித்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள்; என்ன ஆனாலும் நாங்கள் கண்டதையும் கேட்டதையும் எடுத்துரைக்காமலிருக்க எங்களால் முடியாது” என்றனர். அவர்களைத் தண்டிப்பதற்கு வேறு வழி கண்டுபிடிக்க முடியாததாலும், மக்களுக்கு அஞ்சியதாலும் தலைமைச் சங்கத்தார் அவர்களை மீண்டும் அச்சுறுத்தி விடுதலை செய்தனர்.

In those days, the chiefs of the people, the Elders and the scribes noted the assurance of Peter and John and, realizing that they were men without culture and simple individuals, they were surprised; on the other hand, they recognized in themselves those who were with Jesus. But as they could see the man standing with them that had been healed, they could not find fault with anything. After ordering them to leave the Supreme Council Chamber, they started talking to each other. They said, “What are we going to do with these people? It is well known, in fact, that they worked a miracle; this was manifest to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it. But to limit its dissemination among the people, we are going to threaten them so that they no longer speak to anyone in that name. Having recalled Peter and John, they formally forbade them to speak or teach in the name of Jesus. They replied: "Is it right before God to listen to you, rather than to listen to God?"
