"His name is John" 

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To Luke (1, 57-66.80) 

When the time for Elizabeth was to give birth, she gave birth to a son. Her neighbors and family heard that the Lord had shown her the greatness of his mercy, and they rejoiced with her. On the eighth day they came for the circumcision of the child. They wanted to call him Zacharie, after his father's name. But his mother spoke up and said, “No, his name will be John. We told him: "No one in your family has that name!" The father was asked by signs what he wanted to call him. He was given a tablet on which he wrote: “John is his name. And everyone was amazed. Instantly his mouth opened, his tongue loosened: he was speaking and he was blessing God. Fear then seized all the people in the neighborhood and, throughout the mountainous region of Judea, all these events were being recounted. Everyone who learned them kept them in their hearts and said, “What will this child be? Indeed, the hand of the Lord was with him.

The child was growing and his spirit was strengthening. He went to live in the desert until the day he made himself known to Israel.

Reading from the book of Acts of the Apostles (13, 22-26) 

In those days, in the synagogue of Antioch in Pisidia, Paul said to the Jews: "God raised up David as king for our fathers, and he bore him this testimony: I have found David the son of Jesse. ; it is a man according to my heart who will carry out all my wishes. From the offspring of David, God, according to the promise, brought out a savior for Israel: it is Jesus, whose advent John the Baptist prepared by proclaiming before him a baptism of conversion for all the people of Israel. At the end of his race, Jean said: “What you think I am, I am not. A Reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah (49, 1-6) 

Hear me, distant islands! Distant peoples, be attentive! I was still in the womb when the Lord called me; I was still in my mother's womb when he spoke my name. He made my mouth a sharp sword, he protected me with the shadow of his hand; he made me a sharp arrow, he hid me in his quiver. He said to me: “You are my servant, Israel, in you I will manifest my splendor. "And I said:" I got tired for nothing, it was for nothing, it was in vain that I used my strength. நல்ல கனி கொடாத மரங்கள் எல்லாம் வெட்டப்பட்டு நெருப்பில் எறியப்படும். இவ்வாறு போலி இறைவாக்கினர் யாரென அவர்களுடைய செயல்களைக் கொண்டே இனங்கண்டு கொள்வீர்கள்.”

அந்நாள்களில்

ஆண்டவரின் வாக்கு ஆபிராமுக்கு ஒரு காட்சி வழியாக வந்து அறிவித்தது: “ஆபிராம்! அஞ்சாதே. நான் உனக்குக் கேடயமாக இருப்பேன். உனக்குப் பெரும் கைம்மாறு கிடைக்கும்.” அப்பொழுது ஆபிராம், “என் தலைவராகிய ஆண்டவரே, எனக்கு என்னதான் தருவீர்? எனக்கோ குழந்தையே இல்லை! தமஸ்கு நகர் எலியேசர்தான் எனக்குப்பின் என் இல்லத்திற்கு உரிமை மகன் ஆகப்போகிறான்! நீர் எனக்குக் குழந்தை ஒன்றும் தராததால் என் வீட்டு அடிமை மகன் எனக்குப் பின் உரிமையாளன் ஆகப் போகிறான்” என்றார்.

அதற்கு மறுமொழியாக, “இவன் உனக்குப்பின் உரிமையாளன் ஆகமாட்டான். ஆனால், உனக்குப் பிறப்பவனே உனக்குப் பின் உரிமையாளன் ஆவான்” என்று ஆபிராமுக்கு ஆண்டவரின் வாக்கு அருளப்பட்டது. அப்பொழுது ஆண்டவர் ஆபிராமை வெளியே அழைத்து வந்து, “வானத்தை நிமிர்ந்து பார். முடியுமானால், விண்மீன்களை எண்ணிப் பார். இவற்றைப் போலவே உன் வழிமரபினரும் இருப்பர்” என்றார். ஆபிராம் ஆண்டவர்மீது நம்பிக்கை கொண்டார். அதை ஆண்டவர் அவருக்கு நீதியாகக் கருதினார்.

ஆண்டவர் ஆபிராமிடம், “இந்நாட்டை உனக்கு உரிமைச் சொத்தாக அளிக்க உன்னைக் கல்தேயரின் ஊர் என்ற நகரிலிருந்து இங்கு அழைத்து வந்த ஆண்டவர் நானே” என்றார். அதற்கு ஆபிராம், “என் தலைவராகிய ஆண்டவரே, இதை நான் உரிமையாக்கிக் கொள்வேன் என்பதை எப்படித் தெரிந்து கொள்வேன்?” என்றார்.

ஆண்டவர் ஆபிராமிடம், “மூன்று வயதுள்ள இளம் பசு, மூன்று வயதுள்ள வெள்ளாடு, மூன்று வயதுள்ள செம்மறியாடு, ஒரு காட்டுப்புறா, ஒரு மாடப்புறா ஆகியவற்றை என்னிடம் கொண்டுவா” என்றார். ஆபிராம் இவற்றை எல்லாம் அவரிடம் கொண்டு வந்து, அவைகளை இரண்டிரண்டு கூறுகளாக வெட்டி, ஒவ்வொரு பகுதியையும் அததற்கு இணையான பகுதிக்கு எதிரெதிரே வைத்தார். ஆனால் பறவைகளை அவர் வெட்டவில்லை. துண்டித்த உடல்களைப் பறவைகள் தின்ன வந்தபொழுது ஆபிராம் அவற்றை விரட்டிவிட்டார்.

கதிரவன் மறையும் நேரத்தில் ஆபிராமுக்கு ஆழ்ந்த உறக்கம் வந்தது. அச்சுறுத்தும் காரிருள் அவரைச் சூழ்ந்தது. கதிரவன் மறைந்ததும் இருள் படர்ந்தது. அப்பொழுது புகைந்து கொண்டிருந்த தீச்சட்டி ஒன்றும் எரிந்து கொண்டிருந்த தீப்பந்தம் ஒன்றும் அந்தக் கூறுகளுக்கிடையே சென்றன. அன்றே ஆண்டவர் ஆபிராமுடன் ஓர் உடன்படிக்கை செய்து, “எகிப்திலுள்ள ஆற்றிலிருந்து யூப்பிரத்தீசு பேராறு வரை உள்ள இந்நாட்டை உன் வழிமரபினர்க்கு வழங்குவேன்” என்றார்.

At that time, Jesus was saying to his disciples: “Beware of false prophets who come to you disguised as sheep, while inside they are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are we going to pick grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? Thus every good tree bears beautiful fruit, and a rotten tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a rotten tree bear good fruit. Any tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So, it is by their fruits that you will recognize them. "

A Reading from the book of Genesis (15, 1-12.17-18) 

In those days the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram! I am a shield for you. Your reward will be very great. Abram replied, "My Lord God, what then can you give me? I am going childless, and the heir to my house is Eliezer of Damascus. Abram said again, "You gave me no offspring, and one of my servants will be my heir." Then this word of the Lord was addressed to Abram: "It is not he who will be your heir, but someone of your blood. Then he took him out and said to him: "Look at the sky, and count the stars, if you can ..." And he declared: "Such will be your descendants! Abram had faith in the Lord and the Lord considered him to be righteous.

Then he said: “I am the Lord, who brought you out of Ur in Chaldea to give you this land as an inheritance. Abram replied, "Lord my God, how will I know that I have inherited it?"
